Hey!
Anyone know of an app or widget that keeps track of how many SMS you have sent and how many minutes you've been talking (outgoing calls only) within a month?
I had one before I wiped the phone, but I can't remember the name.
Also, I've tried one that's called Free Widget but it didn't work as expected. It only counts how many sent messages you have stored on you phone, once you delete a message the counter drops down.
Cheers!
I know that Handscent SMS has a messages sent counter that you have to reset manually (or timed im not sure if they updated that yet)
Thanks, but I prefer the built-in SMS application =)
I appreciate your reply though.
I found one, Call Meter NG.
It's really good!
Yes call meter ng is good. My only complain is that I cannot see last month's usage to check my bill...

Have any of you heard of this?
Yesterday my phone decides it's NOT going to send SMS through the stock messaging app. I don't get an error, it appears as though it sends, but my recipient never receives it.....most of the time. Sometimes they go thru, sometimes they don't. It seems to mostly NOT go thru.
If the SMS does NOT go through, I can never see it in Google Voice.
If I use the Google Voice SMS app on my phone, recipient receives 100% of their SMS, same with Web interface.
If I disable my Google Voice account via the web and sign out via my phone, my recipient receives 100% of their SMS using the stock app.
I have all the settings nailed. Google Voice is set to sync, background data enabled, etc.... It was, has been working flawlessly up until yesterday with nothing on the phone changing.
I have wiped, reflashed, tried different ROMs, etc....
Today I called Sprint, they re-provisioned things, then basically said since it's a third party app they can't help. I want to beat my head against a wall here.
Anyone have any idea of what the problem could be?
I can't offer any help but I can tell you I saw the exact same problem all day on the 16th and 17th. I've since switched the Google Voice app to use it's own notifications and turned off the text notifications. For the time being, I'm not even using the stock messaging app.
I remember Sprint having an SMS problem a few months ago one afternoon, but it wasn't specific to GV. Maybe something in their GV integration system is a little wacky right now. People said they got about half of the messages I was sending before I switched to the GV app full time.
Good to know I'm not the only one. Looks like a couple of other people have the same problem over in the Google help forums. I de-integrated my account for almost two days, I'm getting ready to re-integrate it now, we shall see what happens. The support for these phones is god awful. If this doesn't resolve it I'm driving to the nearest corporate store and returning it through their window.
LOL! I'm hoping it doesn't come to that, but if you do decide to "return" it, you may want to attach a brick or something. This phone feels way to light to do any damage without a little extra help.

Here's a little update. Not really a good one, but whatever...
All of the text messages I had tried to send though the stock messaging app must have made it to Sprint at least because they all just dumped en mass upon their intended recipients. I got a pile of very confused responses.
Maybe the issue has been resolved. I'll switch my settings back and experiment a little.

That didn't happen to me, but it does appear that my texts are going through. There's one person who says she never gets some, but I can see they're sycning to GV now, where they weren't before. Everyone else is getting my texts too. I have no idea what happened but I'm a little at ease knowing someone else had the problem. I hope it never happens again, I rely on SMS for my business.
Hey there, I hope you're doing great!
I'm creating this thread because I was wondering if the issue I am about to describe is a known bug or if it only happens with me.
The problem I am experiencing is sporadic, as I cannot determinate a specific cause for it; it sometimes happen right after reboot, and sometimes after long usage, after a call, simple idling, etc.
Of course the issue is that when I receive an SMS message from a contact, I see it pop-up at the top as a notification, but when I want to see it in the threaded conversation, it is simply not there. I can continue texting, and they continue receiving my messages properly, as do I... only by looking at the top status bar though, because other than that, the threaded conversation remains the same during the whole exchange.
My phone is not rooted, it is a brand new LG-P999 from Videotron (They call it the LG Optimus 2X here!) and it runs Froyo 2.2.2!
Thank you very much for your help, and of course, excuse me if this issue has already been looked into! Otherwise, have an awesome day!
Is it possible you are using a third-party text app? I ask because I mainly use Google Voice for my texts, but every now and then someone will text my phone number, which of course means it goes to the phone's message app. As you mentioned, you get the notification and can respond just fine. However, if I don't pay attention, and go to my Voice messages, their messages will not appear, and I have to switch to the built-in message app to see their conversations.

Thanks for your reply, but I am actually using the stock SMS app!
Hmph, started looking into the "Messages" app settings and found something called "Text messages on SIM card" and found all the messages I was "missing".
What causes this?! =O
*EDIT*
I looked on the Internet a bit but found nothing pertaining to the LG-P999/G2X. I, however, found information on the matter saying that this is usually caused by reaching the maximum capacity of SMS messages in your phone. I have about 120 messages all in all, which is certainly a very small number! I also have about 4.50GB of free space on my phone!
Thanks for the help!
This is a known issue from LG... Call the tech support and open a ticket.
Voicemail notif is causing this issue... default storage is change to simcard by the OS...

Thanks a lot, it is definitely a relief to know that this is a known bug. Do you know how we can change the default storage of the voice mail, or I need to root?
Thanks!
I just wanted to add that I successfully found a permanent workaround to this problem by installing GoSMS Pro! No more "disappearing" text messages

I am using a stock rooted rom and recently began to experience issue with sending and receiving text messages. I use Handcent SMS and have the stock messaging app frozen and for some reason the messages look like they've been sent but they actually haven't been. For some reason this only happens when I am at home and the cell reception isn't the best but it's good enough where I should be able to send receive texts. When they do happen to go through, I'll receive like 20 texts at the same time but the people had sent them hours before. I have looked for settings within Handcent and haven't been able to find anything.
Does anyone know how I can fix this issue?

Did you always freeze the stock messaging app? I used handcent on my droid incredible, but I haven't used it since because the stock and AOSP messaging apps have gotten much better.
I know that handcent used to rely on the stock messaging app for messages to pass through. Try defrosting it and simply turn off message notifications, then you won't even notice it running.

I've had the stock app frozen for almost a year and until recently everything worked fine. Handcent now has an option to choose what app you want to handle the default actions for messaging. I get a message that pops up saying the service is unavailable right now and the message will be sent when the service becomes available. I'm not sure if that is coming from Handcent or the phone.

The only thing I can think of is mobile data signal. I recently went from the vrblk3 modem to the vrbmb1 firmware and I'm noticing a big increase in my signal strength pretty much everywhere I go.
Since it only happens in your house, it sounds like you just aren't getting a good enough signal, or the data your phone says is being sent actually is getting hung up on verizon's end. I would try a different firmware package and see what happens, just don't use vrbmd3 firmware. It sounds like your issue is with your phone, not the app.

Hi everyone,
Had my nexus 5 for about a week now. Love it! But I've had a few comments from three people now, all on different networks saying that they are receiving my texts twice. However, Its not showing up twice in hangouts, nor do I have any other SMS apps installed.
Anyone else experienced this issue?
Cheers!

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I've been told that it's not every text and I don't see the duplicates on my phone but I've been told by multiple different people. I've started using Go SMS and so far it doesn't seem to send duplicates, but I wish I could just use Hangouts.
Exact same problem with me. Its intermittent but generally happens more often than not. I don't see the duplicates on my phone either. I've not tried go SMS but like you, I just want to use hangouts rather than a third party app.
Hope there's a fix soon!

Hi,
I have same problem with my N5. I use only Hangouts to send SMS. No idea for this problem???
Thx for help.
I havent been told that mine is doing so - can it possibly be a network issue? i'm on T-mo. how about ya'll?
I'm not sure if its a hangouts issue. I installed the jellybean sms app and I've gotten duplicate texts as well from certain people. I actually got 8 of the same throughout the night last night. Maybe carrier related? I'm on sprint
I'm on EE.
I've read that people have had issues with receiving double messages from others. I've also read about people seeing duplicate messages (that they have sent) in their sms app (even though the recipients haven't received duplicates).
This issue is different in that the recipients receive double texts, but I only send one/see one in my phone. It could be a carrier issue, but it seems to be specific to this phone as my nexus 4 didn't do it.

I have Nexus 4 with Kitkat and the same issue, I used Hangouts in 4.3 and was the same. I think it's related to Hangouts app.
delivery
Doesn't really have to do with receiving double sms but I have a question and wondering if it's just me. So I check the delivery reports for every sms but I don't get any notification and Idk what's going on :/
I am on Sprint. Nexus comes in Monday but myself and a few others have been receiving duplicate texts from others not people saying they are getting them from me. I am using hangouts only as well.

Same issue. I get several of the same SMS message from certain people. Other times, I just don't get messages at all. I'm on Sprint also. Anyone else notice anything to resolve this?
Did anyone ever figure this out? I just found out my Nexus 5 is sending duplicate SMS, using Hangouts, just wondering if it's still happening to many others?

It's a carrier issue. Tends to happen in low coverage areas.

Thanks, good to know :good:
Just my opinion...
For me, it's the Sprint / Google Voice Integration I believe. You have us people who use Sprint and did the Google Voice Integration and now Google wants Voice users to move to Hangouts. It seems like Hangouts somehow doesn't realize the Google Voice and Carrier Numbers are the Same and sends texts twice.
I haven't tried but I think going to Google Voice's Setting (via website) and disabling Carrier Integration may help solve the problem.
My one m8 is not rooted or modded in any way and I am having texting troubles. It doesn't matter what app I am in, sms texts take about two minutes to send and I sometimes receive duplicate texts from whoever I am texting. I have 4g with three bars and I dont know what the problem is. I can temporarily fix it by restarting my phone but after a couple minutes it goes back to normal. I have tried using hangouts, the htc default messaging app and verizon message and they all have the same problem.

Not sure whether this is the same thing, but my recipients are complaining about getting two of every text message from me. It doesn't matter whether I let Hangouts take over SMS or not. I've disabled the Verizon messaging app; I'm thinking of deleting it altogether. Wondering whether this is an artefact of the Sprint messaging app that is flashed with the extreme powersaver mode zip file.
First off sorry for bringing up this old thread but didnt see the sense in starting a new one.
Just wanted to add that recipients of my texts seem to pretty frequently receive duplicates. For awhile I was using Handcent but completely removed that and am using the stock messaging app with the same results in both. I have not flashed to extreme power saving mode referenced above as a possible culprit.
So with that said just curious if anyone else is experiencing this or has any possible solutions? I hate calling verizon but I may give them a call this week on it if I dont get any responses here and see what they say.
Bump. I came here to post a thread on the exact same problem. My texts almost never go through. I've googled it extensively but can't find a solution.

I know this is an old thread and I hate bumping something so old.. but as no one had posted a fix in here (and I'm sick of seeing failed to send messages in my sms app) I know of one workaround that has worked for me. In the default (messages) app, if you go into settings for sms and mms and change priority to High sms and mms work much better. I no longer see failed to send messages and they send in a few seconds rather than 30-60. The only problem is, within that same app, you see a red exclamation point next to every message you send. It's an eye sore but it's the only fix I've seen. I've had this issue on every sms app I've tried and just about every rom including stock. Hope this helps someone...
Edit: I tried finding that exclamation to just delete it from the message.apk but it's pulling it from somewhere else it seems. If anyone happens to know off hand please let me know. I'm going to keep looking for that icon to remove it. I wish this want an issue. It's these little things that drive me crazy.
Edit 2: I found it in the htc framework. com.htc.resources.apk for anyone interested. I'm removing that icon from my phone now... Hopefully it all works smoothly.
