For those with a smartwatch, have you noticed your smartwatch battery go down faster with the Galaxy S6?
- With my Asus Zenwatch connected to my Xperia Z3, the watch was able to last almost 2 days, but now with my Zenwatch connected to my S6, the watch just lasts a little over 1 day
- Also, I wonder if phone being connected to a smartwatch noticeably affects the battery of the S6. I would assume it will since bluetooth has to be on the whole time

I have not noticed a difference, I have the SW3. Looking at the battery stats if anything it seems to last a bit longer than with my Nexus 5.
gear 2 neo here , no problems at all so far

Till today I had been using my htc one m7 with the watch. I finally got my S5 and paired it up. I can now read full emails and not just preview, respond to text via s voice, call log, can sync all fitness, control my music as media control, access the App Store, receive all notification.
After my experience I wouldn't recommend the watch without a samsung phone.
How is your Gear 2 battery life now comparing to when you used it with M7?

Battery is still the same.. Could last about 3 days.
The killer is playing music through Bluetooth. Battery will get sucked up.

I'm not playing any music, but when I have my Gear 2 Neo connected to my M8 (just connected and doing nothing), I'm experiencing ~30% per hour battery drain.
Did you update your Gear to the latest firmware (ND8)?
please go here for any further discussion...thanks! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2719843
Hi all!
i am posting here because it seems that the Neo specific forums are not very populated...
anyway i got my new Gear2 Neo preloaded with Tizen last week and i immediately paired to my Note3 (latest X-Note custom rom) and started fiddling with it right away.
First thing i wanted to understand is battery life, so i did some experiments i want to share with you.
First of all, my Gear2 Neo has the latest available firmware upgrades, the Gear Manager is up2date and i have installed only three (free) apps from the store: calculator, calendar and watch styler, which i use normally to show my custom built all black background with bright hands watchface.
I set the screen timeout to the minimum value, i keep notifications ON for everything base plus whatsapp wechat skype and a couple of other apps (like filemanager).
So far my usage has been more or less: receive a few calls a day (5 minutes max of audio trough the watch, the rest trough the phone),
About 20/40 notifications (sms, calendar, sms, whatspp and similars).
Watch off charge at 7:00AM, breakfast, cycle to office, then busy day until evening back at home, some evening activities, then end-of-day around 23:00 / midnight, when i would recheck the watch battery.
At first i got using about 60-70% of the battery, which seemed frankly NOT acceptable, because it means i had to recharge it Every. Single. Night, which rules out carriying around if i stay away for a weekend, since i fear to lose the small charge adapter.... i was quite pissed off, but determined to understand if better can be achieved.
I noticed the screen would turn on very very often, specially while moving my arm from mouse to keyboard (i keep the mouse on my left and use with same watch arm)... so i stopped wearing it when at my work desk... BANG, battery life went up and i got to sleep time with almost 70% CHARGE AVAILABLE?? So, a 30% usage drop, compared to a 60-70% of the previous days???
Well, i disable the turn screen on when lifting arm option, and now i am at 8% usage discharge every day! So after three FULL days of usage i am down at 70% charge available!!! Considering some 1% of drop during nighttime (i don't switch it off), i am positive i can reach well up to 7 or maybe 8 days WITHOUT a charge! Now, this is much better indeed. Yes having to press the button every time i want to see the time is not the best, but afterall i didn't got it for wearing a watch, but to get a much more practical integration with the phone... and i was often turning on the phone to check the time anyway....
What i still clearly note is a battery drain on my Note3... having the watch connected all the time takes a toll on the otherwise great Note3. Maybe not too much, but very noticeable anyway....
YMMV, but i wanted to share this with you...
i agree that disabling the G sensor on the watch will give you better battery life, but is it really that big a deal? dont you have to charge your Note 3 daily anyway? if i dont use my S5 i dont have to daily charge it, otherwise it just gets plugged in when i sleep at night, along with the watch.
also, the gear charges so fast! ive seen it go from 50% to 100% in like an hour, so its not like im really "down" the watch for very long when it starts to crap out.
ive gotten down to 50% battery with very heavy usage in 1 day; so far im impressed and pleased with the watches capability all around
Hi,
I have a Galaxy Note 3 with X-Note Rom Version 18 and Samsung Gear 2,
with factory default options an Watch Styler installed, It lasts only 7 hours...
So I will try Your recommendations and report tomorrow...
I also read in another forum that time improves with a Stock Rom dramatically... I will try that one 2 days later...
Try getting rid of Watch styler, made a night and day difference in battery life with my neo.
I would live to use it, just couldn't live with the battery life.
S5 X-Note Gear2 bat life
I have a Gear2 Neo, first i use it a Month whit my S5 whit Original Strock Rom, the watch life was 3 to 4 days whit disabled G-Sensor. Now i have 2 weeks the X-Note S5 portet Rom on my S5 and now the Watch Battery life is only about 4 to 6 hours.
What is the Problem whit X-Note and Gear2 ? I have try many different options but battery life is very bad whit X-Note Rom
Hello there,
I am using my Note Edge (N915FY) since 2 weeks. Nowadays I got my Gear S and sync'ed them together with bluetooth. But since them I have a very very terrible battery life on my Note Edge. Its draining very fast every 2-3 minutes 1 percentage is gone.
I looked with BetterBatteryStats and there is sth wrong with my Bluetooth services I guess. There are too much wakelocks and it prevents Deep Sleep.
This statistics is for 4 hour standby mode on Note Edge. I didnt use it, it was just in screen off position.
BlueSleep: 4h 6m
msm_serial_hs_dma: 4h 6m
msm_serial_hs_rx: 1h 56m
bluetooth timer: 34m
During this, screen time was maybe just 20 minutes or sth like that. I didn't even use my Note Edge or Gear S during the whole 4 hour.
When I turn off Bluetooth everything is fine, but after I turn it on it is again like this.
I have tried disconnec/reconnect Gear S, and the battery out&flight mode trick on my Note Edge. Nothing helped.
Please help me, how can I fix this issue?
Please, no body has got any idea? I tried the ART mode, Dalvik mode, wipe cache, wipe dalvik,...
Nothing helped me. I cannot use my Gear S. It eats my battery very very much.
I hope to get a solition here on xda.
And i really dont understand is here just me with this kind of a problem on Note edge + Gear S combinated use? Isnt here any other user with this two devices which uses with aame problem or wothout any problem?
Thank you very much...

I have the same combo. I am not seeing the battery drain you are. However, when I got my Edge last week, I noticed all my texts from my S5 all the sudden showed up on my Edge, several hundred. I did not restore messages, but when I looked at battery stats, ATT Message Backup to Cloud was using 25% of my battery. It was nice to have all my texts show up on new phone, but I DIDNT REALLY NEED IT WITH THAT DRAIN. so, I FORCE STOPPED AND DISABLED att cloud message backup, and my edge now has 40% or so after 10 hours. My Gear S is out of blue tooth range a lot due to my job, but it reconnects instantly when in range. And when out of range, it connects remotely.
So, I have the same setup as you, but ATT, and I do not experience the drain.
I have the sprint variant of the Note Edge. And I just got the LG G Watch R a few days ago. But I'm not getting any unusual battery drain.
I have the T-Mobile Note Edge and the Gear S and do not have any battery issues. However, since there is no point in having the watch connected via bluetooth all the time, my situation is different. Bluetooth is for file transfers, app installs and data syncs (S Health). Unless I am missing something, there is no other reason to have it connected via bluetooth. Unless I am using a headset, I have bluetooth disabled all the time. That is why I wish they would put a bluetooth toggle in the status drop-down.
I'm having the same issues with my Gear 2.
bluesleep, msm_serial_hs_dma, bluetooth_timer, and msm_serial_hs_rx all keeping my system from going into deep sleep. I end up with 95% awake and 5% deep sleep most days. Has anyone found any fixes?
Uninstalling all Gear related apps from Titanium fixed the problem for me, but then I can't use the Gear so that kinda defeats the purpose.
I had a similar issue.
Updated the firmware for the watch via Kies and the gear manager app. All been fine since.
I've been running latest firmware with all the updates, so that doesn't seem to be the cause for me :/

Only other major battery drain is Unified Daemon for me (that associates with the watch)
Hello,
I am looking to purchase a Samsung Gear S2 to replace my Moto 360 1st gen (some plastic bits holding the band pins broke beyond repair so the band falls off), and I would like, if possible, a little battery life upgrade. My Moto 360 lasted about 20 hours with always-on display turned off, and about 12 hours with the feature turned on.
How is the battery life on the Gear S2 (non-3G) with and without always-on feature ?
Thanks !
I got gear s2 for Christmas and so far have gotten at least 2 days worth of usage without screen always on. (Wifi and S-voice turned off). I have not tried with screen always on so cannot comment on that.
24 hours max thats what i tried when i first got it.
I have Gear S2 and S5+ from Samsung. I use always on and have wifi and S-voice turned off.
End of the day a have always 30/45% battery stil to go.
Hi guys,
after a long time, I am back with Android. I was with the "dark" side for a while, aka Apple. At least with the phone I want to be with Android again. I got myself the Mate 20 X & since I miss my Apple Watch, i got myself the Samsung Gear S3 as well. The battery on the Mate 20 x is great, but the Watch will do its best to drain that faster. Especially since it seems the connection between the phone & the watch looses a lot more connection than I ever had with the Apple Watch and an iPhone.
The Samsung Gear app already seems to be the biggest battery drain on the entire phone. For those of you also using this watch, what is the best way to do all that. Sure, I could simply decide to not use the watch connected to the phone and just use it as daily sports & watch, only syncing manually once a day. Of course that would make the watch less smart, but I suppose that would also mean having more battery life on the phone. Or is it the actual Samsung apps that are the battery problem alone ?
Any help you can give me i would appreciate.
Wolf
I use a galaxy s7 duo, and the gear app doesn't even show up in the list of apps using the battery. It may well be hidden in the 'android os' on samsung phones, however.
It's difficult for me to tell if the phone has started using more battery since I bought the S3 watch because about the same time I went fully wireless, and that is killing my phone battery anyway, so I have to charge every day.
Thats why i went for something larger in terms of battery, which is the Huawei Mate 20 X. I just dont want the watch to kill of that benefit. The phones reminds me quite often, that the Samsung Gear or more to be precise the Gear S Plugin drains more power than anything else on the phone. To remove that stuff from running in the background would of course kill the connection from the watch to the phone , which would suck.
But overall i have to say, that the connection between the Gear S3 and the phone gets interrupted a lot. Coming from my previous iPhone & the Apple watch, i hardly ever had any issues with that. Not to mention that the range between the two devices was better with the iPhone & Apple watch, than it is now with the Gear S3 and the phone.
My connection is always stable.
And battery drain from my watch is barely noticable.
It shows 1% in the table after 1 cycle but thats because i set up my watch today after flashing another rom on my phone.
What did you choose when you set up your watch?
Stay connected or did you skipped it?
I skipped it and for me its all good.

when you set up your watch with the gear app.
reinstall gear apps and connect the watch with a new phone.
them you can restore your watch backup and choose if it should be always connected.
that probably drains much battery
