Accessibility access not working for certain apps - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

So I followed the advice of someone on reddit who said booting into safe mode then back to normal helps with battery life. So I did, and now nova launcher and Greenify lost accessibility privileges and when I try to turn them on the "turn on" button doesn't work (only "cancel" works"). I've tried restarting, looking through developer settings, etc but can't find out what changed. Any ideas?

Are you using Lux by any chance? If so, try disabling this as had the same issue but now works without a problem.

Wow I was using lux. I actually ended up factory resetting because of this issue and coincidentally decided not to install lux again, and I haven't had the problem since. How the hell did you figure that out? Lol
Do you use anything to control brightness instead of lux now?

I was just playing around with things and somehow just stumbled upon it. I am just using the buil-in auto brightness which seems to work pretty well. Glad it worked for you too.

Same problem, same fix
Uninstalled lux, changed settings, reinstalled lux.

Same problem on non-root S5 but no Lux or Twilight. And ideas?

Ultimate Rotation Control has now broken TWO of my phones!

This app: Ultimate Rotation Control
has now claimed a second victim. A long time ago, I installed URC on my Motorola Atrix, as a way to force screen rotation in certain apps. Once I uninstalled URC, my Atrix could no longer use the system's auto rotate feature, until I completely wiped it and installed a new ROM.
Well I was hoping that it was just a fluke, a one-time incompatibility with the Atrix. Because I needed it on my new phone, a Samsung Galaxy S3, because it was the only way to get Tasker to rotate my screen.
Well sure enough, the moment I uninstalled it from my S3, I could no longer use the system's built-in auto rotate feature, AGAIN.
I have tried rebooting, reinstalling the app, uninstalling the app with different settings (like uninstalling it while in force-rotate mode), toggling system rotate in different conditions... NOTHING I've tried gets it working again!
I've contacted the developer, but in the mean time, does anyone have any suggestions to get my phone's auto-rotate working again? Perhaps there's some hidden system file that URC messed with, that I can go edit to fix all of this? I really don't want to have to do a factory reset again!

Flash what ROM? I'm running stock, rooted. My phone is unlocked.
But of course wiping the entire phone would fix it. I'm asking if there is any way to fix it without wiping everything.
Right now it seems like the only way I can get it working is to have the app installed and running at all times. Strange that I'm the only reviewer that has noticed this behaviour, maybe no one else has ever tried to uninstall it before?

[5.0]WiFi shows as on in battery settings always

Hello guys, out of all the bugs this is the one bothering me the most.
Battery settings show WiFi as on all the time no matter how i switch it off.
I have disabled all the settings like scanning always.
I flashed the factory image yesterday (not OTA) and waited till a full charge, now today even after a full charge its still the same.
Is this a common bug or just me??
UPDATE :Tested with a clean flash of the factory image and without any apps, the result was that the issue has been solved. It could probably be some app which isnt updated to work in 5.0 yet. (Probably Viber app)
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I didn't flash the image, just flashed it via multirom. I don't have that problem...If that happened to me I'd try to reflash to see if I could replicate the issue with no apps other than what comes with the image.
I just flash my ROM yesterday with the factory image too and now I'm facing the same problem.
Battery usage shows that Wi-Fi is always on even the phone is sleep.
Really want to know why... I think it really consumes the battery.
I flashed the factory image too. I have the same problem. WIFI is always on. Any idea?
I've got it, too. Clean flashed 2 times. Well, hopefully Google gets on it soon.
Same here. Clean install, no root, no tweaks.
I opened issue here https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79326
Solution
had the same issue. what i found out was that it was not an android issue, the issue is with viber app(atleast in my case it was). to confirm it try booting to safe mode and check you battery stats. safe mode disables all 3rd party apps. if it works then reboot normally and uninstall viber.

I updated OTA and I have the same problem. Wifi always on, battery sucking. I don't have the viber app.
try booting to safe mode just to check if it was caused by any other 3rd party application

Well, turning WiFi off and rebooting "resolves" this issue too, but it's no solution at all, the "bug" is still present.

Right this could be the reason. I clean flashed the factory image once again and now its not there without any apps installed. Viber could be the reason.
And btw for those who doesnt know about "Scanning always available" feature, you have to disable "Scanning always available" option in Advanced WiFi settings to truly switch off WiFi when you disable it. Otherwise it will always be on even if the phone goes to sleep. This is an Android feature. I have shown it the pictures of the 1st post.
So regarding the OP, should install apps one by one and confirm who the culprit is.

there was no need to have clean flashed again, you could have booted in safe mode(press and hold power off option) which disables all 3rd party apps. you could have figured it there. anyways for other people with the same issue you could try this and to figure out which app causes it, reboot back to normal and try force stopping each app and check. thats what i did to figure it out. Viber was the cause of the issue for me as i mentioned earlier

Talkback notification won't go away

For some reason, the talkback service has decided to tell me it is activated even though it is not. I have a persistent notification that won't go away. Since it's a system service, there is no way to just hide the notification. Any ideas?
Clearing the cache and rebooting didn't help either.
Did you ever figure this out I have the same problem on sprint. You can't even disable the Talkback app.
Nope. I did a factory/hard reset last night. Still the same issue.
I haven't installed any apps I didn't have on my GS5, so it can't be an app's fault. Going to do an exchange at the AT&T store in the next day or two. I'm not getting stuck with something like this.

This would be a workaround (if it does work), but try tapping and holding on the notification, and then click on the "i" icon to see which app is displaying the notification. If it's a stand-alone app (i.e. not the Android system), then you should be able to block notifications for that app.

Thank you, but it is the system app doing it. I'm just going to swap for a different S6 at the store tomorrow. Got my app data backed up to the cloud thanks to Helium.
The messed up part is it literally happened right when I got my phone. I'm gonna try a factory reset then if not try to get it swapped out
@dizzymatt Still have it? It mysteriously disappeared for me today. I was literally going to go to the store this afternoon to exchange this thing. Maybe I got lucky or sensed I was coming!
Afterward, though, the oddest thing happened. I was looking through the store for a different Google product and came across this one called Google talkback. I thought that was very weird to find right after I had had this issue. When I clicked on it, it allowed me to uninstall it. Never saw it in my apps list or the application manager, but there it was. Again, this is after the notification went away from me so I have no idea if this is related.
Here is the link. Maybe uninstalling it will help you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.marvin.talkback
Seen what you said and I didn't have the app installed but it just disappeared for me too after I rebooted my phone I wonder what it was.

Now I'm wondering if it was related to Google Now since the notification and the ability to say "Ok, Google from any screen went away about the same time.
Disabling Talk back
I got stuck on a 15 minute hell ride when I accidentally turned on my Talkback feature on my new S6. I couldn't turn it off even after toggling the stupid settings. I finally was able to turn it off by tapping the home screen button three times.. apparently that is the On/Off switch for the accessibility features. After it finally stopped talking back to me I went in to manually toggle the off button on that ridiculous feature.
Same problem / solved ?
I had same problem with notification
Decided I would try enable, so that I could then disable
Seems to have done the job

[Q] Screen Won't sleep

Hi all, I am facing an interesting issue, that's bloody annoying at the least. When I set my phone down, the screen stays lit. I checked all the options to ensure Its not user error. I am listening to music using POWERAMP but this has never happened on my S5 Note 4 or any other phone.
Also it is NOT rooted, and 100% Stock as I don't root phones right away until development matures enough.
This being said I am going to try to ODIN updated Filmware to see if it resolves, but it's a 2 hour download from Sammobile. Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions?
Thanks All.

Have tried unistalling any recent apps you put on there to see if one is a problem?
Try to check if there is any custom application listed as device administrator. I had the same problem because I authorized an app to be admin to control the lockscreen / display timeout to turn off the display with a widget. Uninstalled that, rebooted and the problem was gone.

S7 black screen problem

Hi,
I just got this s7 for 3 days and i have this problem where the screen wont turn on but the phone still is active.
A hard boot will fix it but its only a temp fix because i had this problem 4 times now in 3 days.
I didn't root it nor did i install any weird apps outside the google play store, i disabled a couple of bloat ware apps like all microsoft apps and a few google apps like hangouts and gmail.
I did some research and found out that more people have this problem but all the fixes they got it to wipe the cache but the phone still has the problem after that so i would like to know if more people on xda have this problem and i would like to know what they did to their phone so i can see if we have anything in common to pin point the problem.
See if the setting for preventing the phone to turn on in your pocket is enabled. If so, try disabling it and see if that works. It may be a problem with the proximity sensor if it's a hardware issue.
Thanks for the reply and i have that setting indeed turned on! So ill switch if off right now and lets hope this will fix it!
Seems like turning off that feature didn't work
If you have an SD remove it or format it. I had this on kitkat because of too many files in internal memory
Think i found the problem because i think its fixed. While restoring my old settings like wifi etc from my ggole account caused this problem and now that i skipped this part in the setup the phone seems to be working now for 2 days perfectly but thanks for the reply and help.
Woot, I have fixed the problem!!!!! Its the App Power Saving Feature that causes this!!! I had some app set to "always" and when i used any of these app and then put the phone in standby then it would lock up every now and then. Now that i have turned off this setting the phone runs steady for a week!

Is your phone still working fine without blackscreens?
I've got the same issue (sometimes 4 times in an hour, sometimes it doesn't happen for 2 days..!!).
I've tried fixing by doing a factory reset and turning app power saving mode off.
Unfortunately this did not fix the problem. Yesterday I got an unresponsive blackscreen again :crying:
Any ideas what could fix the problem?
(Ignore my signature, I'm writing about the S7, not the S6)
