[Q] HTC one E8 (dual-sim, china unicom) crashed after lollipop(5.0.2) upgrade - HTC One E8

I recently updated my HTC one M8sw (China unicom) to lollipop 5.0.2
Playstore refused to work after this update, so I decided to do restore factory settings.
Now after doing hard reset, I cannot add google pack! I cannot even see it in accounts & sync tab!
Can anyone please help?
I am not a techie so appreciate layman solutions!

Don't worry. Same thing happened to me. After factory resetting your phone, open the HTC app store and search for GMS. The first option will have GMS (followed by some Chinese...it'll have the android icon). Download that. After its downloaded, click on the GMS app from the app drawer. Follow the instructions and it will download the Google apps. Once downloaded, remove your SD card and type #*#*442*#*# in the phone dialer. It will automatically restart your phone and install all the Google packages!

up!! i'm in the same situation, and i'm even "techier" (??) than Yats79!!! Help please..

its working for me
nice share...work for me,and the code works for me.....
*#*#442#*#*
---dont worry----

This is brilliant solution man! Thanks for your help.
Just two steps more:
When you restart the phone using the code, use this code *#*#442#*#* like someone mentioned in the post. This worked for me.
Also I had to restart the phone again, this time with SD card in! Guessing the GMS saved file on SD card!
Does anyone know how to remove those irritating chinese apps? English OS will be nice!
Thanks again man!

So to make Google now work with finger swipe up, go to Settings, then Apps. Swipe to get to the All tab and search for "Hidi". Force stop it, clear its data and disable it. Google now should work with swipe up now

Hi,
Did everything but after phone restarted, did without and with sd card, it doesn't install google apps.
Are there any more steps I can try?
Exactly same problem with exact same phone version.
Thanks so much

That's strange :/ try installing the GMS app again and trying the procedure. Also, I hope you factory reset the phone after update, and before trying to get the gapps...

So I need to factory reset again and then install gms app though htc store then open gms and keep pressing ok and then take out sd card and put restart code then put in sd card and restart code again?
No need to flash rom, root, etc right?
Thanks

Yup! That is correct. You need to factory reset to get rid of all Google services from previous android version.

HTC one e8 google pack
Hi there
I tried the same steps but without any success.
Did the factory reset, installed GMS, downloaded 192 MB file, removed the SD card, entered the code *#*#442#*#*, restarted the phone with SD card with same code again.
No success after several attempts. Am I missing a step here?
Any help anyone?
Thanks

I've now got an OTA update to MM offered on my device. Have any of you updated to this? Any problems?

[Q] Nexus 5 + kitkat 4.4.4. Temporary 941 error on play store.

Hi everybody.
I bought myself a Nexus 5 recently and I am quite new to Android.
When I try to install new apps from the Play Store (build 4.9.13) I get a 941 error (let's say 90% of the time), but as soon as I try again for a second time I can download and install the app without any problems. It looks to me that the first time I try to download an app something isn't ready yet and it doesn't work, but for a couple of second after the first try everything works just fine. I thought about the 2-factor authentication being an issue, I disabled it on my gmail account but it didn't solve the problem.
I've also tried the following instructions from this thread, but it didn't work either:
1. Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
2. Tab over to "All"
3. Select the Play Store app, and then tap "Clear cache" and "Clear data"
For the Download manager:
1. Visit Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications
2. Tab over to "All"
3. Select "Download manager," and then tap "Clear data" and "Clear cache"
Also:
1. Go to "Home" > "Menu" > "Settings" > "Applications" > "Manage
applications"
2. Touch the "All" tab
3. Scroll down and select the Play Store app
4. Touch "Uninstall updates"
If you continue to experience issues after temporarily uninstalling
updates, please let me know, and I would be happy to continue to
troubleshoot.

In the last few hours I have no longer been experiencing the issue. Maybe they fixed the store, who knows?
EDIT
I've spoken too soon. The error pops out again. Less often, but it does.
I have same the issue with a Mobistel Cynus T6 (android 4.4.2). On 2nd try it works, error 941 appears in 70% of times.
Same here
For me, too
Some android forums I read and there the people said that they have that issue, too. Not Nexus or any device problem is this. This is a Worldwide problem I think. I have the same problem, too with LG Optimus F6. But the same on all Galaxy S4, HTC, Sony etc etc... All we can do is to wait for the fix from the Google...

Look in GooglePlay for "PM Plus" from Huawei - it's the Permission- and Startup Manager you need.
I have no idea why it isn't as default on the X2

If you follow the guide you will be able to upgrade with no problems.
I spend the morning reading all there is about 701 to 703.. and its dangerous, and not 100% documented,so I dont dare to do that.
I restored the stock recovery on my 701,I removed su,I wiped the whole thing a few times, and no matter what I do... NO APPS ARE STARTING AFTER A REBOOT...
everything works like a charm,no fc,no errors at ALL,just... when I reboot/turn the thing on.. its loading googleplay/services/gmail/... whatever it came with, but NO 3rd party apps from the store are loading on boot.
I enabled ALL apps in the startup/permission manager... but still they wont load.
WHAT ELSE is there to check/click/switch/do ??(

I restored my X2 today ,so no SU/TWRP/... did a full wipe with stock recovery, still the same... I suspect, this isnt a bug... but more a feature.
No matter what I try.. NO APPS are autostarting...
(just the whole system crap like playstore/gmail/google services/bla blabla)
Cant be that Im the ONLY one with this (unsolvable ???) problem ?????
well.. turns out.. nothing is unsolveable.. besides curing human stupidity.. and NO.. Im not talking about myself
If you want an app to be 100% sure its loading when you turn on your phone or reboot it => you have to convert the app with Titanium Backup to a SYSTEM APP.
(so basically TiB just moves the .apk into system/app).
Be sure to reboot afterwards,as otherwise the app is gone from your launcher.
I tested this with 3 apps (afWALL+/allinONEgestures/wifiONoff) and all three NEVER started after a cold/warm/lukeWarm(re)BOOT,and after converting them with TiB,all 3 start now everytime.
so maybe I was/am the only one who was annoyed by this BOOTloadingBUG,but with this workaround its solved for me !

Thank you.
I spent more time in chinese forum, now I have only rooted G9300, but still I can not run google play services. I tried flash G930TUVU2APC8_TMB2APC8_TMB_USA_T-Mobile_6.0.1 official firmware to my G9300 but it didn't successed because of different PIT file (g930T has bigger system partition then g9300). At this point, resizing g9300 partition can be possible?
Ok, now all of Google services are working on my G9300. The all steps and necessary files are below.
1- install CROM _V1.0.4.apk and run for unlock the bootloader.
2-install Samsung-Usb-Driver-v1.5.59.0.
3-install Odin3_v3.10.7
4-flash G9300-PC9-Auto-Root-0403_3 with odin.
5-wipe data partition in TWRP
6-install open_gapps-arm64-6.0-pico-20160329 in TWRP.

If you already download all files from link (you have to put https at beginning of the link ) you have to follow the all instructions step by step. Before of all you have to unlock your bootloader by using CROM (just download apk, install and run). Copy open_gapps-arm64-6.0-pico-20160329 file to phone's SD card or internal storage. At odin stage, press AP button and select G9300-PC9-Auto-Root-0403_3 file. In Odin options only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time box have been checked. For enter download mode press power + home + volume down buttons until you see the download screen on the phone. Just press start button and wait 10 seconds in odin, then your device will be reboot in recovery mode (you will see TWRP screen in chinese). First time when device in recovery, root process will be done. Then press install button and select open_gapss from SD card or internal storage. Confirm to install and reboot system. you will see google account manager while booting system. Sorry, my english is not well.

Hi, thanks for the instruction. One question, does this root method mess up the front camera? I heard people not being able to take multiple photos with the front camera after rooting their SM-G9300.
Other people have reported issues with phone not recognizing SD card after rooting, and not being able to play video files after rooting. I am not sure if these are false negatives. Have you experienced any problem after rooting your SM-G9300?
I have only front camera issue. There is no SD or player issue.

Good to know. Thank you!
Someone suggested that the front camera issue can be solved by using a third-party camera app, not the Samsung native app. Maybe you can try that.
One more question, after rooting the phone, can I uninstall some of the bloatware apps such as the Samsung and Baidu stuffs that I never use? If so, how do I go about to do that? I have flashed Customized ROMs on android phones before but other than that I have little experience with rooting.
I am now very tempted to root my phone, as I really need Google Apps...
Yes, you can uninstall everything with system app remover application which you can download playstore.

See this thread. What people are doing with the Edge 9350 seem to be applicable to the 9300. I'd bet there are more info on Chinese forums if you can make out what is what.

So that's a snapdragon 820 variant right? Would this root method work for American 820 variants?

Are you aware how it works? Could a similar method be developed? Just thinking out loud.

You have to wipe data partition then re-root your device and reinstall gaps by twrp recovery.

My phone crash when I want to install apk's directly . Play store / Google chrome crash when I open apps !!
Best regards.
VolUp+power,in recovery.show a robot,power+2VolUp,show recovery menus
To have root
1. boot on fastboot : vol- + power button for 20secondes
2. Connect to a computer and write " fastboot oem unlock"
3. download twrp recovery
4. type fastboot boot recovery-twrp.img
5. flash supersu.zip by the twrp recovery.
The problem is , can someone port a twrp recovery to the yotaphone Y3.
Best regards

YES
com.zhangyue.coolyota.major
com.zhangyue.coolyota.minor
These two programs will cause other programs to flicker back.
useing ICEBOX Freeze them in the refrigerator
Ok, so I flashed the update you send a link. After that uninstalled:
com.journeyui.phonemanager
com.zhangyue.coolyota.major
com.zhangyue.coolyota.minor
But the phone still cannot install any apps or access the Play Store anymore (the first 2 days it was all working fine).
Can you write a tutorial of how to setup a fresh device after factory reset with working Play Store and somehow preventing it from stopping and getting Google account errors and sync problems?

After you successfully install play store in your phone, you could see '咪咕阅读' popped up in your update list. DON'T UPDATE THIS APP EVER.
I suppose this app should be implemented in system level with wrong configuration. Even you didn't install it before, it would be in your installation list.
Stop auto-update first and never install this app. I figure this out after 6 times factory resetting.

It looks like ill have to factory reset again and uninstall that app, but then which app is responsible for making the phone not being able to install any app?
咪咕阅读 it's this app. Even though you delete it, it will pop up in your update list in Google play store again. So disable auto update first and don't update this app ever.
