[Q] Gallery "sharpness" filter - Note Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to disable the "sharpening" filter/effect that the stock gallery app seems to put on every single photo? I've seen a few related articles on this subject, but none of them really seem to solve the issue. If it means having to download a new application, I'm perfectly OK with that, but I'd like some recommendations if possible; I've tried a few others, but I really like the way the stock application handles organisation and display styles...
If there is already a thread on this that I missed while searching, let me know and I'll request this to be deleted.

A way to override the camera not working under 15%?

I was wondering if there was anyway possible to change a setting to continue using the camera at low battery.

the same for music and videoplayer please
Also would like to know if there's a way.. it seems kind of ridiculous that there isn't an option to disable it... Well-intentioned, poorly implemented
the same for the voice recorder ...subscribed

I am sure that someone knows how to do it. Maybe it is in the settings.db that we access to enable sideloading of applications. I will look more into it and let you know if i run across anything
I checked the settings.db and it doesnt hint at changing any of those settings. Maybe i missed something but I dont think so. Are there any other settings files in the OS?
I was hoping this would be removed or disabled in Froyo, but it is still unchanged.
I actually think I know what the cause of this is.
The obvious answer is that it's Samsung's doing. Now, I don't know about you guys, but I like the changes Samsung made to these apps, with the low battery exception. If you were to replace these with the AOSP apps for each respective task, the low battery issue goes away, meaning that this is coded into the apk somewhere. I'll see if I can dig around and find them, and possibly hack a line or 2 of code out. I'll test my results, if there are any, and post them here.

[Q] App to tell which apps are most used?

Great site, first post!
I would have found this on my own if it exists, but the nature of trying to find an app that lists your most used apps is difficult to search for.
I was wondering if there is an app out there that functions sort of like a folder on your home screen. One that automatically keeps up with your top 10/15/20 most used apps.
I'm trying to maintain a minimalist home screen and would like to find something like this. Ideally it would be just a single icon that pops up your "favorite" apps when touched. I realize I could of course create a folder for this purpose, but it would be great if there was some sort of automated app for it. Your most used apps likely fluctuate and I think this could be a valuable thing to have.
It could work like the recent apps hotkey. Maybe if there was a way to disable the recent apps from being cleared on a reboot, that would pretty much solve my issue.
Thanks for the help/advice in advance.
I have a Droid 1 for what its worth.

[Q] Facebook Notifications with multiple sessions

Hi,
I am having this extreme annoying problem with Facebook Notifications. Even though this has to do with facebook fixing this stupid annoyance, i am looking for a solution until they actually think for the user and not for themselves.
Every time i am on the PC, whether i'm using Facebook Messenger or am actually browsing through facebook.com with the browser, if i get a notification, those of CHAT most of the time, i receive them on my phone as well. Now everything is fine and is working as it should, but i find it extremely annoying being notified on my phone when i am actually at the heart of facebook where nothing can pass away from my eyes (even ears)
I dont want to stop facebook messenger notifications (nor the facebook main app ones), i just want them to be ignored or call it NOT SENT when i am connected on the browser. There must be a way for facebook to prioritize the destination device (client, me) on where to send the notification or where not.
Regards.
Anything guys? im not a fan of double posts either.

If you haven't worked it out yet mate - this is nothing to do with anyone on XDA.
Yes, there is probably a way for Facebook to do what you want - so ask the guys at FB who are paid $100k+ to write the apps for that abortion of a social media site. I can't, for a minute, imagine that any Dev on XDA would waste their time taking apart a FB app (which would probably be contrary to XDA's terms and conditions) just to do this.
Bumping your post is not going to get you any help.
I've been a forum mod myself, i know the annoyance i am creating and i know the pain it causes, but believe me i am not proud of it, it is just killing me getting a notification at both places at the same time.
The reason why i'm asking is to look if anyone found a workaround, and i am amazed to see people not being annoyed by this matter.

That excuse is up there along with;-
"I don't want to interrupt you, but ..." - Yes you do or you wouldn't be doing it.
There is no workaround other than disabling notifications on FB. They probably don't want to allow people to turn them off as most people seem to thrive on getting notifications for FB as it makes them feel all important, so getting the notification twice makes them feel twice as important.
I would've found three better methods explaining your workarounds lets say in a more humane way. Remember, people ask questions to get answers, especially on a general discussion board.
Thanks anyway.

App Permissions - Need a little help

I'm still newer to Android and today realized the permissions that apps request. Before I was quick to just accept & go. I was about to install an app that is requesting a LOT of permissions. Phone calls, hardware controls (pics/vids at any time), and network communication (SMS I believe). My questions are simple.
1. Do some mods already implement certain things into itself to disable some of these features? I understand this is a mod-by-mod basis if so. Does Synergy do anything to disable this crap, anybody know?
2. How worried do I have to be about this? Will the app literally take pics and send them out without my knowledge? Or is it only the pics I take it can send out? How does this work?
3. Which of the permissions that apps request do I really need to keep an eye on and watch out for? AKA, what could take info/pics that I dont want it to?
4. Is Anti-Virus software REALLY necessary since I'm all rooted and such? I read articles saying it's useful and others saying it doesn't even provide much protection, and the chance to get something is quite rare if you only use google play/android market?
Thanks in advance for any and all help. I ditched Apple and AT&T for this thing, and with it being rooted, I am unbelievably happy I made the switch to both VZW and the S3! AWESOME phone, screen size, and customization!
Bump...
Ok, so maybe this is getting ignored because it's too much of a noob question, or self explanatory? Not sure, but I want to know how far this crap goes...To my worst fears, like hardware control can take pics any time they want and I never know about it, or is it not that bad?
Thanks in advance for any help!
It is somewhat self explanatory... just use common sense when downloading an app... If you don't think it really needs the permission that it's asking for then don't download it. For example, there's no reason a music app that plays your sdcard contents needs your GPS location, etc... Look at the reviews of apps in question also... that's your best indicator right there if the app is trustworthy or not... If it's a bad app then its going to have bad reviews.

This isn't the kind of question I would normally ask here, but I am attempting to assist a developmentally disabled friend and this is stumping me.
My friend has an Android phone and tablet. For the purpose of this question, I don't think the models or Android version particularly matters.
He normally uses Chrome on both devices. He searches Google for an image he likes and saves it to Google Favorite Images (I am completely unfamiliar with this). When he clicks on the link or bookmark to his favorite images, a page opens showing a lot of GENERIC THUMBNAILS and a few actual thumbnails. According to him, it previously displayed correct (non-generic) thumbnails for all the photos (since he is developmentally disabled, I can't say for certain this is true, but it is what I am going on).
These images ARE images that I would expect to be filtered out by safesearch being turned on, but I cannot find anywhere that it is. Also, when the generic thumbnails are clicked, the image displays. The links appear to be links to the Google search result page rather than directly to the page with the image, but that is true of the thumbnails that display correctly as well, so it doesn't seem relevant.
The same thing occurs on both devices and doesn't relate directly to the browser, because I installed Firefox and get the same result. To display the link, I have to log in to his Google account though, which leads me to the conclusion that IF THIS ISN'T NORMAL that it is being controlled by his Google Acct somehow.
I have checked all settings I can find and don't find anything I think would cause this. I cleared the cache externally and internally in Chrome, no help.
I think there must be a simple answer that I am missing and hope someone else can provide some direction to me before I pull my hair out.

Nobody has any CLUE why this happened? This is supposed to be a newbie-friendly general board, but the questions that get answered are ones that should have been on a less general section, making this section apparently useless for its intended purpose.

Don't you LOVE it when you try to Google for your answer and the second result is the question you posted here?
