OnePlus on Oxygen OS and Pushbullet not seeing the 'photo' directory - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have O2 clean installed on my OnePlus. All things work well. I clean installed Pushbullet, as well, and it does not show any directory structure for when I select to attach a 'photo'. I can, instead, select a 'file', and in that manner get to the directory where photos etc are stored, but I would like to correct the more direct method. I've cleared Pushbullets data and cache, reinstalled it numerous times, to no avail. I am awaiting to hear from Pushbullet support. It was working perfectly with the various KK's.
Does anyone know of the particular setup file for Pushbullet that I can modify/correct for this issue?
Thanks.
Edit: Discovered the answer. Pushbullet is directed to the KK Galley location/app, I believe. So for the O2 OS, if you install Gallery2, it will work just fine, and you will also have the old style Gallery.

Great PPC Phone Edition SMS organizer tool, smsOrganizer for WM5 released!

My readers (see for example this post) probably already know about two Pocket PC Phone Edition-specific SMS export utilities, Jeyo Mobile Extender (which, unfortunately, has severe problems with more than a few hundred SMS messages stored on a given PPC PE device) and Dopod SMS Backup, which is pretty simple and only supports exporting. There has always been a third alternative, zedsoft.net's smsOrganizer, but, up to now, it wasn't WM5-compliant and, therefore, I haven't reviewed it.
The author of the latter, zedsoft.net, has just announced the WM5 version to be out.
Give it a try - it's by far the most powerful SMS organizer I know and is really worth giving it a try. It's available here.
How do you completely uninstall this program?
I get a dialog box that says: _wfopen failed. MycreateFile TimeOut!
and then the program crashes. Was working fine for a while. Tried uinstall/reinstall.
I think what happened was i deleted the file(s) in the "settings" directory.
Should there be something there?
Thanks!
SmsOrganizer Uninstall/Reinstall problems
I had the same problem. Only installed to test it, but when uninstalled, it just does not either reinstall, if does install cannot run it. I get the same message, something "_wfopen failed. MycreateFile" . I also made the same mistake of removing the files from the settings. Although I tried to create the same name directory, but has not worked. It seems to be a nice application, something that I searched for monthssssssss, now that I found one, it has problems!!!! Also, when you install and run it the application icon "O" keeps on moving one space to the left every time you start it. Cannot wait to get it working again cuz it seems to be such a handy tool the way its laid out. You can backup all the sms or specify your own created directories. I have not tried to restore the backedup sms's though as I don’t have a second WM5 device. Would like to backup my sms's and everything else first before I flash the ROM.
Would someone with a pristine installation be so kind as to zip up and post the "Settings" folder?
I believe this will alleviate the situation.
I tried copying the "settings" folder included in the cab file, believe it or not, it almost worked i got a lot closer to loading the app, but am still getting an error.
Anyone?
So.. this prog is the culprit....

I installed this program sometime ago, but did not realize this is causing the _wfopen failed. MycreateFile TimeOut! dialogs... If you guys get this, it means you are unable to receive new SMSes. I experienced this for several days before realizing that this error occurs everytime someone sends me a new SMS. The sender may receive a delivery report, but the SMS didn't show up in the inbox, but gave the 2 error instead. Had to hard-reset as I didn't know this prog was the culprit....

Does it support Sheduled SMS sending?

Problem selecting multiple items in Outlook E-mail

After my last couple of ROM upgrades I have developed a new problem. When I try to use the highlight and drag method in Outlook e-mail, I cannot select multiple items. I can still use the Select Messages->Several option but then I have to highlight one message at a time and I usually do not have a use for the Select Messages->All or All Below options. I don't think its a ROM issue because this happens with both Romeo's ROM v1.10 and DCS v14 and I can't seem to find anyone complaining of a similar issue. The only other thing I've done different in my last two ROM upgrades is to use Sashimi to reinstall my cabs and some settings. The Sashimi thread does not address this topic. This is not a big deal and I can live with it, but if anyone has any ideas to fix this problem please let me know. Thanks.
SASHIMI thread doesn't address because it is not a SASHIMI issue.
SASHIMI doesn't install anything permanently on your system in and of itself (it just resides on the storage card).
Every change SASHIMI makes to your system is decided by you.
If you give SASHIMI 10 cabs to install and 3.reg files to import then it is doing nothing but that.
I can pretty much guarantee you that if you manually go through the files that SASHIMI is installing and do them all yourself you will have the same problems. If not, then you are skipping something.
Users have reported issues like this before (not specific to your problem, but in general) where they think SASHIMI is the problem but then they realize that they are providing bad files to SASHIMI to process (e.g. a REG file that contains entries that is causing the problem).
I highly recommend doing this manually. If the problem is not there, then you need to go through your SASHIMI directory with a fine toothed comb and make sure there aren't any .reg files or anything that it is importing that is causing the problem.
If you can recreate an issue where anything installed by SASHIMI is causing a problem that isn't caused via other methods (manual, UC, etc), then please let me know.... I've never heard of one.
thx.

Is this malware?

I randomly started getting 2 notifications; one saying I had low memory, a second that I was running out of space. When I clicked on the notification, I get 'attached image' screen. (I have never clicked on the start test button, it's big, and red... It scares me!)
I've done a fair bit of searching but can't find any topics/posts (searching "speed up your Android" is a bit of a nightmare...)
So, yeah. Has anyone seen this before? I have removed the last 3-4 apps I installed, but no change. I was using L launcher until it started overriding my screen with ads for a couple of apps. This would occur when I had installed a new app via playstore. After uninstalling, those ads have gone..
Any thoughts or help will be appreciated.
Cheers,

That picture tells me you don't own your device, someone else does. For starters, reinstall your current rom with the complete wipe and I mean wiping internal sd too. Remove your simcard before rebooting. Then get root, because if you don't, that would mean that Android system owns your phone. Just because you don't have root does not mean that system apps don't: They do (and you don't). So, get root, set it up for prompt and deselect "trust system user". You don't want to trust anything. Second, get Afwall from F-Droid and allow internet only for apps you use: browser, messaging etc. Don't allow system apps to connect to the internet. I mean none. Second, don't get any app that has ads. Period. If you do, you will always end up in a situation shown on your photo. There are many more things you can do: just read this forum, but these limited steps should protect you from major threats.
Ah, bugger. Thought that may be the response...
When do I reinsert sim card? And I'm guessing I can't use the .zip of the ROM currently stored in my internal storage?
Thanks for your reply.

You can reinsert the sim card once you setup the firewall and whitelist the apps that are allowed internet access (all others - denied). You can still use zip files that contain a good rom. You can flash that rom and then format SD card before rebooting (you can also transfer known good apps to your external SD or PC and later put them back).

Okay, cool. So to confirm, you don't believe any .zip or .apk that I'm 100% sure were safe downloads (roms, gapps, playstore backup apks etc), might be infected? (They are stored in internal storage (HTC M7)). I was going to clear everything but if you believe them to be safe I'll keep some of my backed-up apps etc to save redownloading again.. (My current rom and gapps files too for that matter...)
Thanks for taking the time to help me out. :good:
Also, is there a windose virus scanner that's any good at scanning .apks etc for Android nasties??
Thanks.

There is no way I can tell you that the apps or roms you have (which are unknown to me) are safe. It is your call. There is plenty of garbage in playstore. I, for example, don't use gapps or anything Google. I have no google services framework, so there is no way for Google to know what is on my device. Google even does not know I have android: when I login to my gmail (using web browser), I get an e-mail saying someone using Linux just logged in the account). So, I would transfer internal SD somewhere else and then examine each app (you can do it in store) to see if there are any ads. Apps that have ads are no go...
Good luck.

[HELP THREAD] export Whatsapp Key crypt14 Android 11 - decrypting database

Hello dear xda users,
I wanted to transfer my WhatsApp to a new phone. I have created a local backup and transferred it to the new phone. Though WhatsApp doesn't want to recognize it and just prompts me for the google drive backup. The number stayed the same and in the past I never had problems with that. The same things happens on my old phone. So now I have all the data, but I cannot use it. It would be sad for me to lose all my chatlogs (6 years). So I wanted to decrypt the database with the help of https://andreas-mausch.de/whatsapp-viewer/. Though I haven't found a recent and decent manual on how to get the WhatsApp Encryption Key from the newest app version and newest Android (crypt 14). I can root my phone if necessary. So if someone knows how to do that, may you please provide a manual or point me in the right direction?
Kind regards,
sollo477
Ordinarily, you should be able to restore WhatsApp chatlog from your local backup.
I have the same problem... i can´t restore from local file, i spent all my SMS verification codes, i have to wait til tomorrow to try again... ;(

I know, it always worked before. But now WhatsApp is just stupid. I also contacted the WhatsApp Support. They were like: "Well...tough luck. We can't help you." Maybe they should just give people an easy way to make an unencrypted export of all chats. I did everything according to the manuals and then the restore of the backup doesn't work. You don't even get any pop up, if something was wrong with the backup file or that WhatsApp cannot find any back ups on the phone. I have Threema as well, but most people I know don't use it.
I am also facing the same problems since yesterday.. And i am losing almost 3 yrs of my important chats due to this careless whatsapp bug. Anyone please help me in this..

My backup database file is having crypt14 extension.. (usually it was crypt12) i already tried installing older Whatsapp version, rooted my phone and tried getting the key as well but whatsapp viewer saying invalid key as the file got skipped while authentication and activating whatsapp. Now i am stuck with a database file which i cant use and whatsapp is not at all concerned to help me with their system.
That really sounds like a bug. So maybe I should just keep the backups for now till they are old enough to be opened or WhatsApp fixes the problem.
I saw this fix on another thread and it works
Copy the files ("msgstore.db.crypt14", "msgstore-YYYY-MM-DD.1.db.crypt14"...) in "internal storages/WhatsApp/Databases" on your old Android smartphone
Create the path "sdcard/WhatsApp/Databases" on your new Android smartphone and paste the copied files there
Install Whatsapp via Google Play Store on your new smartphone
Open Whatsapp and verify your phone numer (you have to use the same number as on your old smartphone)
When it asked you to grant access to your files for Google drive, ignore the message and instead close the app (press □ and wipe Whatsapp away)
Activate airplane mode
Open Whatsapp again and wait until you see the message that scanning is taking longer than usual. Press "skip" (don't know the English word, I'm also using Whatsapp in german) and in the new message also press "skip"
You should now see your local backup, press "restore backup"
Disable airplane mode and activate Wifi
Ignore the message regarding Google Drive and, when your backup has been restored (look at the progress bar at the bottom in the background), close the app
Open Whatsapp again and you should see now your old and new messages alltogether!

WhatsApp cannot detect local backup file
I did a backup for my messages then uninstalled WhatsApp. The next day, I reinstalled it for a quick thing and it restored locally without problems then I uninstalled it again. 2 weeks later, when I
stackoverflow.com
@sollo47..Did you tried any of the methods above.. My WhatsApp is stuck for verification for next 48 hrs and i wont be getting sms codes to verify.
I just wanted to chip in to say that I am hitting exactly this issue right now. I wonder if it's a new bug in WhatsApp because just a couple of months ago I migrated really smoothly from my old Huawei P10 Lite to Pixel 4a and everything was fine.
Now I'm trying to migrate my wife from her Honor 9 (very similar to the P10) to a second Pixel 4a and WhatApp is being a nightmare! There are successful local and Google Drive backups on the old handset and all the messages are still present on that one, but when the new one restores from Google Drive, it only seems to retrieve the media files and none of the Chat history.
I've copied over the latest msgstore.db.crypt12 file but WhatsApp didn't seem to detect it and went back to Google Drive again. Now I've exhausted my verification options for a couple of hours so will have to wait (seriously! I've used 2-3 SMS codes and about 3 phone verifications trying to sort this out!!)
One thing I've noticed, which I really hope isn't going to be a big problem is that when it creates its own new database when restoring from Google Drive it's got a `crypt14` extension.
When I'm able to retry the verification I am going to try as above and put it into flight mode before attempting a restore so that it is forced to look at the local files for options.
Every other App on the damn planet includes menu options for both Backup and Restore, so what does WhatsApp only have Backup and make it damn near impossible to do a proper restore. :-(
I'll update with any progress.
Well... I'm no further forward :-(
I tried downgrading the App to 2.21.8.17 and then following these instructions: https://stackoverflow.com/a/67756993/4915304
By putting the phone into flight mode and skipping the internet checks the application _did_ then discover a local backup file however it then failed to Restore it :-(
There's a possiblity this failure was my fault... I've discovered that on my wife's phone there's an old Directory from 2020 containin backups, and then the external SD card has more recent ones... I'd accidentally copied the wrong ones, which I realised when it offered to restore the newest backup from nearly a year ago :-( So before accepting, I thought I'd try my luck and I replaced the msgstore.db.crypt12 via adb push to be the up-to-date one. I was hoping that it might not care. The reason for it failing was not displayed but now there's no option to restore unless I reset the app, which means waiting another 4+ hours before they'll give me a new verification code :-(
I also tried purchasing WonderShare MobileTrans as it claimed to be the only option to enable restoration of messages without reinstalling/resetting the installed application. Unfortunately that's of no use to me because it required the Source Phone to have WhatApp verified and active in order to capture the backup that it needs! Under the hood it's entirely reliant upon 'adb' access to the phone and I'm sceptical as to whether it will even work with the newer versions of WhatsApp.
On both the Android 8 source phone and A11 destination phone, it pops up with a warning that the application was built for an older version of Android and might not work ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm sooooo annoyed about this now. If it wasn't for the fact that so many friend and family are only using WhatsApp I'd uninstall it now and use something more open instead.
I had the same problem yesterday! Spent ALL DAY trying to restore my WhatsApp local backup (I've done it before a million times and no problems).
Looks like there is a problem with the latest version (2.21.10.16) restoring local backups.
I downloaded an older version apk (WhatsApp Messenger 2.21.6.17 from apkmirror) and copied to my internal storage.
Went through the normal process of instaling and verifying my number... IT FOUND MY LOCAL BACKUP!!!!
I thought I had lost all my chats from the last 4 years or so!
Try it and good luck!
@groovy909 and all others. Many thanks for help and all the hints here. After 24 hours of using hating speak, I was able to restore least 2 years old back up.
- the downgrade of Facebook Whats-app helped and I have least something.
Many thank for awesome community and please keep the great work.

My suggestion is to root your phone...it's way much easier to get the key.
Concerning whatsapp-viewer...I suggest you another parser for crypting/decrypting/viewing whatsapp databases: https://github.com/B16f00t/whapa
It works very nicely...one you have the key of course.
L
Anybody can decrypt msgstore.db.crypt14 ???
Hey guys, I was very busy the last few month and couldn't afford to lock myself out of WhatsApp again due to the limitation on the 2FA. So I have tried it as well with an older WhatsApp version from February 2021 and it still didn't work. I will go for the solution of rooting my phone once get the key and then unroot it again. Then I can use the offered Whapa Extractor to extract the old backup. Although since I can't merge the new database with the old one I will just keep the encrypted old database one for references. It's sad and I wish there would be another solution, since I am now forced to use google drive to backup my data for the future.
Unless you know a better solution to backup Whatsapp locally and can guarantee that a restore will be possible in the future. I would even pay for that.
Certainly, titaniumbackup is the best option.

Does it also work when I restore it to a different android phone?

Two freshly installed game apps, different developers, pulling random people's account credentials. Seems inexplicable.

Tldr: Two game apps by different developers are pulling up random persons' game accounts/profiles. Fresh tablet, fresh installs, etc. It should be blank Guest profiles, but I'm insta-logged in with preexisting accounts no matter what I do.
-----
I have a new, out of the box tablet, wifi-only, unrooted, with my Google account now added. I installed several games from Google Play Store, two of which are casino apps (Caesars and DoubleU). I also installed DoubleDown, and that's not giving me any issues. All three are from different developers.
Upon opening it for the first time, Caesars loads up some old dude's account. His name, photo, and progress.
DoubleU asks if I want to log in with Facebook or play as guest.... I select Play As Guest, but alas, it then pulls up some rando's account as well (not the same old dude as Caesars).
DoubleDown acts normally as you'd expect it to.
I cleared the cache and user data for the apps, uninstalled and reinstalled the apps, deleted literally everything possibly pertinent in the file directory... it's bonkers. I clicked the "log out" options in both apps, and they boot right back into these weirdo profiles.
It's not just some weird "guest" account either... I took the coins down to a particular amount, uninstalled the game, reinstalled it, and the coins were at that same amount. So it seems to be pulling from the games' servers.
I did a little test with another tablet (unrooted, wifi-only again) that I had Caesars installed on previously (guest account, working correctly). I uninstalled it, deleted everything pertinent in the file directory, etc. Reinstalled it, and behold, it remembered my Guest progress.
I'm no expert, but my guesses for possibilities for how that happens...
1. Caesars stores the guest account data on their servers tied to some internal number unique to my device
2. Same as above, but instead of a device-specific number, they know and remember the Google account used to download the game and/or the Google account signed in on the tabet
3. There was leftover data in the root directory of the tablet that wasn't wiped by clearing data and uninstalling
Regarding the 2nd option, the app doesn't show any special permissions that would allow it to know my accounts, but maybe it does anyway. It's also important to note that the 2 tablets in question are using different Google accounts.
Of course, that was all in regards to the 2nd tablet that's behaving correctly and expectedly... No matter what method Caesars et al use to remember Guest data, it doesn't explain why I'm getting non-Guest preexisting-credentials forced into my apps on the 1st tablet.
Thanks for your help! This is maybe the weirdest technical issue I've ever had.

Are either of the devices pre-used before you got them?
Try clearing cache and data for app, then uninstall the app, then boot into recovery and wipe only the cache partition(s) but do not factory reset, then reboot and reinstall the game and see what happens.
Another investigative step to try is to make a backup of the apps .apk file, save it somewhere safe to be reinstalled later in this test sequence. Then, clear cache and data for the app, uninstall the app, then sign out of your Google account on your device, then reboot into recovery and wipe cache partition(s) but do not factory reset, reboot into system, do not sign in to your Google account, then use the copy of the .apk file to reinstall the app instead of installing via Playstore and see what happens.
Another thing to try is to create a dummy Google account then signin the device with the dummy account and install the game via Playstore and see what happens.

Both devices are brand new, never used before.
I don't have TWRP installed, so I'll do that and try your suggestions. And thanks for being detailed in the step-by-step process!!
Regarding the backup of the .apk file, that may be out of my skill range, not sure off hand... Would finding the same build on ApkMirror be sufficient?
Edit:
Just wanted to add some additional info.
I installed 2 more games created by those same developers. Slotomania (same company as Caesars) acts normally - no progress, starting from blank slate.
But Take5 (same company as DoubleU) boots me into yet another preexisting account - and not even the same person's as DoubleU does. Ugh.

Ugh.

You don't have to install TWRP, you can wipe the cache partition using stock recovery.
You can backup the .apk using MiXplorer file manager app or you can download the same build from APKmirror.
