Qi Wireless Charging Stand Charger Pad 3 Coils for HTC One M9 - One (M9) Accessories

Is it possible?

My understanding is that the aluminum body precludes the possibility of wireless charging.

No, it does not

look through the rest of the pictures in the listing.. looks like there is a QI charging receiver that plugs into the USB port, and it does advise you need an external case (to make it not visible)

I have one of those cards on my current OnePlus One and it does slip in nicely under a case, but it does not charge very fast (at least the version I had which was a 2nd generation type) -- not even close to what I was getting on my previous Nexus 4 and 5 devices. So I went back to usb charging and with the OPO's fast charging capabilities, charging a full phone in under 2 hours is pretty nice. It's suppose to be even faster now, so i can't wait to get my phone (today!)

Absolutely right.
From listing:

Qi Wireless Charging Stand
Micro USB cable (1.5m)
Micro USB cable (0.3m)
User Manual
Qi Receiver Card with Micro USB Connector (module)
Additional Notes
Device may get warm when charging (not uncomfortable).
Recommended use with a compatible case (optional).
Basically comes with something like this. Should slip under most cases.

Most of the HTC phones doesn't support wireless charging even if it is known as universal charger.

OEM USB Cable

Has anyone found a spot to buy them? The ones on the Samsung site look different. And I want to make sure the end fits inside my case because the hole is designed for the cable that comes with the phone. I don't want to get into cutting the case or cable ends.

Don't waste your money buying them from samsung. All usb cables are the same, just find a cheap one on amazon or monoprice. You could just look at pictures and find one that looks small enough to fit your case.
Edit- well I guess this is wrong. I've bought a few couple cheap usb cables and never had a problem but other people have.
Just to let you know...the tmobile mytouch usb fits into the neo case too. They might be cheaper too

I used to think the same thing, but this is absolutely not true. You can download the app Galaxy Charging Current and compare your charging rates with different cables. If you don't believe the app, you can start from a specific charge level and time the charge with the screen off and no apps running. There can be a significant difference. There are several posts throughout the GS4 forums if you search for the app name.
This isn't only true for the GS4 either. I tried using a USB 2.0 extension cable I bought in 03 or 04 to extend my Palm Pre touchstone, but the phone wouldn't consistently charge with the extension in place.
How's the charging speed on those? I know some cheaper cables don't charge as quickly.

NOT all cables are the same!
The included one with the phone allows charging up to 1900mA. The one from the S3 (for example) will only charge up to 960. I have some that won't go over 460.

So is it the cable that is affecting the charging current, or is it just the charger itself?
Thanks

Both.
What is strange to me the phone with that app reports it's getting 1900mA when I use an old HTC charger capable of 1A (1000mA) @ 5V when using the OEM USB cable. Either that HTC charger's specs were grossly understated or the phone itself tries to sense electrical properties of the USB cable? Not sure if that last bit is even possible.
Anyone with knowledge on how the phone determines how much current to draw on a lower level? Kinda curious.
Also, there are sellers on eBay for the original S4 charging cable for something like $7, or same charging cable and 2A wall adapter for $10.
See for example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/230980370756
The part number they list (ETA-U90JWE) is the same as my OEM charger, that can do 2A @ 5 V.

Also looking for a 1900mA charger/usb chord combo. Found 2 "OEM" fakes on Amazon (reviews reported fake), and can't just buy, and hope for the best on eBay. Looking to see if someone has bought, tried, and tested a charger/chord combo that does 1900mA from a reliable source. I'm not paying $40+ for a charger/usb chord from samsung. There's got to be an alternative.
Newegg.com sells them.
I've ordered this charger + cable (aware of the risk of fake, will be comparing to my included/OEM), this micro USB cable, and this micro USB cable.
Also waiting on this car charger.
Using Battery Monitor Widget app to get mA readings during charge.

Wireless Charging Comparison (Verzion vs Samsung)

So I purchased both the white Samsung Wireless charger and the black Verizon charger. My thoughts:
I'm upset that they both only charge at 640. This is HALF what a normal USB charges at. Also, the Samsung uses a standard Micro USB as power supply, while the Veirzion has a special adapter (annoying). Also, the Samsung is more sensitive where the device is placed on the pad, has to be directly in one spot or it won't charge. The Verizion has a much larger charging area.
So my question is -
1) Are all wireless charging bases only charging at 640?
2) is there a better charger that used micro USB?
Thanks,
Normal USB 2.0 charges at around 500Mah. Some special ports offer more power.
The stock Samsung wall charger, can output UP TO 2amps
My wireless charging receiver, a generic eBay one claims up to 1amp, and i usually get between 400 and 800 depending on what im doing.
The base itself, I think sends only up to 1amp, so the real limitation is in the receiver in the phone.
Second part of your question, are you asking about the charging plate?
In terms of what charger plate to get, Is the standard micro USB plug so important to you ?
there are some pretty handy ones, such as the Panasonic QE-TM101 that offer a feature where you can place the phone anywhere on the pad and the charge will start.
I cant comment on the Verizon one because im not from america

I have been looking for the same answer you are, I bought a off brand wireless charger off eBay and that charges at 640 as well. So I'm guessing it's the norm right now unless I'm wrong.
But I really wanted a wireless charger for bedside so even if it's slow I'm okay with it so far.

Qi wireless charging cover

Since the N9 does not have Qi wireless charging, it would be super if a cover with qi enabled. This exists for other devices and I hope for this device too. Any ideas?
To answer myself: You could of course buy a QI reciever and a slim case: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...ireless Charging Receiver film for micro-USB
If only something like that exists with a micro SD slot along with being able to mod the N9 to have Qi charging. Problem solved.
That doesn't work with most tablets given it's low output. I can test it when my tablet arrives this week to confirm.
I can confirm the microusb adapter pad does charge. I did a few %. Seems to work fine but cannot comment on overall speed. 650mah output listed on the back of my Qi pad adapter.

It does NOT natively support Qi charging. The Nexus 9 uses a nVidia SoC, not Qualcomm (or the Samsung Exynos CPU). None of the current nVidia SoC's support wireless charging. Attempting to use one of those jankety cases with Qi support would be a laughing matter. Call me in a month when that 6700mAh battery has finally finished charging.
There are Qi receiver available charging with 1000 mAh. And 6 hours of charging would be really ok for me.
Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I need some help.
I looked at a few of the links posted above and it looks like you can ADD Qi wireless charging to the device with a sick on pad that inhabits the micro USB port permanently. Is that right? When this is plugged into the stock USB port can you still have things plugged in via OTG like flash drives, keyboards, etc?
I don't care if it charges slow just so long as it keeps up with demand from the tablet. This would be a fixed installation in a truck as the headunit so it would ALWAYS have power when the vehicle is on.
---------- Post added at 06:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:07 PM ----------
Specifically, I'm looking at this model listed below. The Nexus 9 is a "narrow side down" USB device and this one CLAIMS to output 1000mAh. Would that be enough to keep up with demand?

The problem is that these docks have its own condensators etc. (lets say power supply) which normally don't let "pass" the voltage of QC2. QC2 goes up to 12 V, the normal docks allow only 5 V.
Are you sure you get QC2 voltage with this dock?

Why would they bother with that? It would cost more.
Out of curiosity I just cracked it open. Nothing but a wire connecting the female plug with the male plug. I haven't put it to the test lately but it would charge quicker than the standard charger when I was using it frequently.

Great to see, thanks a lot.
Maybe some do it to be sure that the phone gets the right voltage with a wrong or damaged power supply, or if the power supply is included there is more space in the dock. I don't know but had some that are only for 5 V (also stood at the power port).

According to the page it outputs 5V at 1A, definitely not fast charging... but I really wouldn't expect that on something like this.
I used to have a similar style micro USB QI charger I used in the past and it worked fine on my Micro USB devices.
For me quick charging is more important to me than the convenience of wireless charging. Unless you plan to use wireless charging exclusively I find having to take off and put on the adapter often a hassle.
Still nice find for those that really want wireless charging.

Don't know if this is even possible, but it would be perfect if there was one of these qi receivers with USB C that had a kind of pass through USB C plug, so that you could have the qi receiver plugged into the phone, but still be able to plug in a USB C cable from the wall when you want the faster charger.

That wouldn't be possible without breaking the USB spec, and making it really bulky. These little qi receivers are easy to unplug, so that shouldn't be a big concern.

That's what I was implying rather than using a pass through. There's still a possibility the receiver will not work if directly touching the phone depending on how it's made, so once it can be confirmed working that should be fine.

Oh ok. I may go ahead and order one and give it a try. I just thought maybe with a case on over it, that the case may pinch the cable of the receiver and not allow you to be able to unplug it from the phones USB port without removing the case first (which would be a pain).

OK so got mine today and works as advertised. Tonight will be the first night to test. It's slower that's for sure when it comes to charging. The nub that plugs in isn't too big, which is nice. Takes some getting used to.
If you got time on your hands and have a wireless charge handy all the times then I would recommend this. If you dont have time then stick with usb c charging ad it's faster.
