I recently flashed CM12 and I noticed that my data is not working. I toggled mobile data on but it just toggles back off. I really don't know what to do. I have an unlimited 4G LTE data plan with MetroPCS.

Ok so i bought the black Skyrocket of the street, I reset it and everything works fine except no data no matter what i do so finally i made a new apn with cm7 defaults and bam i see 4g so i been happy untill today when i walked in my local AT&T to check the tablets i noticed a skyrocket with 4g lte on the the data sign i didnt ask at&t personnel in fear of loosing my old data plan that thankfully has not yet raised any red flags. I checked the apn and noticed that it was the same as mine except mine doesn't show Lte no matter what i do is mine defective?how can i get 4g lte? is it imei based or need a special sim? also both are on 2.3.6
You have to subscribe to an LTE plan. So you're going to have to talk to your carrier, or see if you can get them to give you a deal on another plan.

i thought it had to do with the lte capable phone and unlimited data sim. so lte data service is something you have to sign up for no matter what? maybe its just a new sim is what i need? im goin put my sim back in my captivate and tell them it some how got misplaced that way i just get a new sim and hopefully it does the trick. more advice would be appreciated

Yes it is, but it doesn't cost extra. You shouldn't see any extra charges on your account. It's just a different data plan that allows LTE access.

Just bring the Skyrocket into your AT&T store and they'll activate your phone with a new SIM while adding the LTE data plan and visual voicemail if you don't already have it.

No need, SIM cards are free. Just do what I stated above.

The other thing is that was not mentioned in the responses .. If you have the grandfathered Unlimited Data plan (Gold Card) .. you can still keep that when subscribing to a new LTE Data Plan.
I originally had the Unlimited from an old iPhone 3GS .. kept it through ALL my transitions to different phones.
Just call AT&T .. they will take care of it for you.

hey everybody,. i just got a skyrocket from a friend, formerly having an evo 3d. i have an unlimited data plan and when i popped my sim in i cannot get a data connection. since this is a 4g lte phone in order to even get a 3g signal do i need a 4g plan? i rooted my att skyrocket, and have the ics rom skyicecream,
p.s. i do have full signal, and flashed new radios

Yes you need a lte plan and a lte sim card. You can do both at an Att store and nope it wont change your monthly bill.

Yes it should work if you have the proper data plan. You can try using this app however that allows you to make your phone a hotspot without a special data plan. planhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.diyphonegadgets.wifihotspot
Hotspot is working fine for me on CM11 and I don't have the hotspot plan!
I have unlimited data, but only 5gb hotspot through T-Mobile. I ihave an lg g2 that is rooted. Does anyone know how to use the unlimited data plan for the hotspot abiltiy instead of the 5 gb? I am at my limit and it is now blocked for use until next month. I am ultimately trying to connect my ps3 to it for netflix and gaming. Thank you!

I'm still on the old unlimited data plan. In the past I've always had to root my phones and use an altered hotspot provision apk as the factory one didn't work without paying extra
I just ordered a g5 (currently on a g3) and I'm wondering if I'll be able to use the factory hotspot with the old plan.

You can't use the built in hotspot but if you aren't on android 7 you can use foxfi. I am on the same grandfathered plan as well and have had no issue on 6.0.1 using foxfi.

I know it's late posting but look into the LG G5 RS988 version. I got mine for around the same price as the VS987 and it has no problems running hotspot on a grandfathered plan with android N. Good luck. Just make sure it is not flashed to some weird prepaid carrier. I had to actually buy mine new for $270 because all the ones for around $200 were actually prepaid RS988s in the software.
Verizon, nougat, the sim pop works. Takes a little practice. I turn it on and leave it on, after setting "off" to never.
