[Q] CM12 Nightly Flash - TWRP Stuck? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Trying to flash the most recent CM12 nightly, and TWRP has been stuck at:
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
detected file system ext4 for /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system
Click to collapse
for about twenty minutes now. Any thoughts on what's going on and what to do about it?
EDIT: Possibly a corrupted download? Chrome has been doing that a lot recently.
Thanks.

Very possibly a corrupt download. You should be checking the md5 of anything you're going to flash to make sure the file is ok. Don't you do that?

What can I say.

It was a corrupted download. Flashed back into recovery, restored my backup, tried again with a new download, everything's 110%.

That's a really good way to brick your phone.

Indeed it is. It just wasn't something that was ever declared as being important last time I messed around with a phone (this would be almost four years ago) so it's not something I got into the habit of doing, is all. Now I know better.

Do you normally download directly to your phone or to your PC?

I just use Cyandelta to handle the installation of the CM 12 nightlies for me. So far, no issues. Fingers crossed.

There's a good program called Winmd5 (I think), it's free, that'd what I use on Windows. Or if you're running Linux you can just check the md5 using the terminal with this command:
Code:
sudo md5sum <filename>

Which rom are you running? Did you flash the BML or MTD version of the modem?
I'm using Build 4.3.1015 BeanStalk-Updated 10/27/2013-4.3
I think I'm flashing MTD version. I downloaded in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869159

Yup, you're using the MTD which is the right modem for this rom. Not sure why it's not working though. It might just be a corrupted file. Download it again and check the MD5 sum before you try to flash it.
yah.... but how i check MD5??

Nevermind, I thought these files came with an MD5 sum for comparison. You can try redownloading UCLB3 and flashing again to see if it'll work. The random reboots are probably due to kernel issues. The Infuse JB kernel is a souped-up version of the GB kernel. While it usually works great, occasionally, it will experience some instability.
I downloaded again and still the same error.
tried flashing other modems that already have saved on my sdcard and already installed other times without problems ....
but now I can't.
do you have any idea?

I'm out of ideas but I'm sure there's someone on the boards that will be able to figure it out. In the meantime, Google is your friend.

[Q] Fastboot TWRP recovery install fail.

Because of the incredibly slow and laggy tablet I have I decided to try to do something about it.
So going from some thread here I decided to try to Root it using Motochopper, it seemed to go well but then the SuperSU app did not run, giving me a error No SU binary. I found out the supposedly Motochopper doesn't work with the 10.6.1.14.10 build. Anyways I later read that rooting wasn's necessary when adding custom roms so I unlocked with official app and then tried installing via fastboot a custom recovery TWRP 2.7.0.0
After running the command it just seemed to be stuck, nothing happened. I allowed it to go on but in the end I think the table was out of battery power and this was left on my command prompt.

You may want to put the twrp.blob in the adb directory/folder and try again, good luck.....:fingers-crossed:

Haha, no I did not forget to do that. Perhaps it was because the trwp.blob was blocked or something, but tried again and it worked instantly now.
thank you.

It is good to hear that it worked out for you...:good: I recommended that because I did not see the twrp.blob from your screen shot when you were executing the fastboot command. In your adb directory, you have only four files, two .exe for adb/fastboot and two libraries or dll supporting adb/fastboot....
Congratulations by the way!!! :highfive:

[Q] Stuck on installing CM12 from OxygenOS

Hi guys. I figured I wanted CM12 instead of OxygenOS. I was using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/switch-oxygen-os-to-cm12-os-twrp-t3081896
I downloaded the file, copied to my phone, went into recovery mode, wiped data as told in the thread, and tried installing the zip file. Unfortunately I got some error there saying something about a MD5 file. It wouldn't let me install the zip file. So I had to install OxygenOS again. Now I'm sitting here with my OPO being totally reset. I tried downloading the zip file again but now whenever I try to copy the zip to my phone it stops at 1/3th of the copying progress (tried this 4 times, same result every time). I can't seem to copy the file to the phone in any way.
I'm using TWRP version 2.7.something I believe.
Any help would be appreciated!
Sander
Edit: When I try to copy a file to my phone it gives me an error:

The best way to go from Oxygen to CM12 is by flashing the stock images with fastboot. See section 8 of my guide:

In case you're serious, though...
Team Win Recovery Project is a custom recovery for Android devices.
It allows you to back up and restore your data, flash custom ROMs to your device, repair broken file systems, and root your device.
Download:
See " Attached Files"
Install:
Download zip file from above
Unzip the file
Download and install SP Flash Tools
Run SP Flash Tools and load scatter (Use the 'Modded' scatter if you want to install this recovery on a enlarged system partition.)
Press first the 'Download' button, before you connect the device with your pc
Reboot device
Remarks:
It is not possible to boot into recovery by holding some specific keys. You need to use ADB with the command: "adb reboot recovery".

Recovery issue - Stock on boot-loop after patriation changes

Hi,
I tried to Root my POC F2 Pro device today, and I got stuck on boot-loop.
After installing TWRP I didn't manage to find the files in the internal storage (Something to do with storage encryption.) so I saw some videos and Change the partition to exFAT and then to EXT4 and from that moment everything went to hell.
I can't do anything and the device is not botting up. When I try do to anything like installing and new Global room/Wipe/Repair - I get this:

Can you enter in fasboot mode?
If yes https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-use-xiaomi-flash-tool.4262425/
DAAMMM WOW man...! I searched for a solution all night and didn't find anything no matter how hard I tried.
In one comment you fixed everything! Really (really) appreciated!
Thanks again!
@NOSS8 Maybe you can help me root my phone...?
After I installed the TWRP, I enter recovery mode and I see 0MB in the 'Internal Storage'.
I have PIN to the phone, but it's not asking me to write it down when I boot to recovery.
What can I do?

I manage to do it. I created a new boot image using Magisk and it worked.
Thanks again for the quick reply!
