[Completed] micromax a111 not charging - XDA Assist

I have a micromax a111 canvas having charging problem.
I have done already the following:
1. Did factory reset
2.Changed the battery (but found there is no problem with batteries)
3.The OS android 4.1.2 (original) copied again
4.The charger pin replaced
5.Tried with MMX charger and other chargers also
The phone sometimes charges well and most of the time shows charging, but never charges. The battery percentage suddenly drops hugely.
The problem still persists and dont know what to do with it.

Hmm ... it's not the battery?!
And you replaced the charger pin ... you mean the USB port of the device?!
I hope that you have not damaged something important.
You can register on xda and ask in the Canvas Doodle A111, Doodle 2 A240 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
But maybe you need to give it to a service center for repair/replacement.

Yes, the usb port of the device was replaced by service centre. It has no issues. When Charger is attached, it works fine, it shows the power on led (red).
Except that the device is working fine. All apps work fine. Checked for virus, malaware using 360 app. It shows system is in a fine condition.
Only problem is battery is not charged properly. Sometime it charges and shows some percentage say 80% or so. But when the system switched off and switched on again, the battery % suddenly drops to very low % say 20 or 15%.
This is the problem I am facing and other than this there are no issues with the system.
Would like to know what will be root cause? In my perception it should be some hardware issues rather than software issue.
Pls advice

Hard to say ... best to ask in your device's Help thread that I linked in my previous post.
XDA Assist is not the right place to discuss this further.
Thanks for your understanding. Thread closed.

Charging problems ! :|

Today when I connected the charger to my R it played a notification sound which is played when one connects it to a power source but then within a matter of 5 - 10 secs again it played that sound.
After that within a few mins when I left it to fully charge from 90 % it misreported me that its fully charged to 100% with a notification in the status bar which was not possible as it couldn't charge 10 percent in 5 - 7 mins. So I disconnected it and reconnected it after a few secs to find that its still charging from 90 %.
It also restarted during a call after all this.
Current conditions: I am on Indian stock kernel & ROM cause my PC has been given for repairs.
What could be the cause of the problem that I'm currently facing ?
Possible causes I could think of:
- The USB socket's soldering on the motherboard could have given way & may be loose.
- The charging circuit of my motherboard could be acting up due to unknown reasons.
Q.1 Has anyone of you faced similar issue in the past ?
Q.2 What do you think could be the cause of the problem ?
Kindly help me determine the problem as the only other option would be taking it to the SSC for a checkup.
i also faced this problem but very rare, it will show 100% once i remove the charger it will show 90%, i will reboot it and after reboot again it will start charging...
I had the same problem last week. I took it to ssc. They called it a firmware problem as always :what: but then they replaced the battery. Now I don't have that problem but my battery backup sucks now.

You should go back and ask for a new battery and tell them that this one doesn't hold the charge.
BTW in your case did the charger disconnect itself without any user input when connected to the usb port and then again without any input reconnects itself ?

yes its one of their standard procedure
if u claim about battery life first they will flash stock fw and if u still keep complaining about battery they will give u new battery. in my friends gs2 they replaced battery for 2 times yet he faced probs with battery backup so at last ssc replaced his whole motherboard

@cooleagle, 90% prob could be software related. but as u said drop of charger connection seems hardware issue, check ur charger's micro usb plug is it loose or damaged?
once this happened with me i kept my charger in bag and somehow in bag charger's micro usb plug got broken from inside and then whenever i connected my phone it was giving prob of dropping connection like u said, first i thought there is prob with phone but when i examined charger i found out plug was loose and it was giving me probs.

u can backup games file data by copying ur whole internal storage but to backup scores and progress u have backup system folder's data and it probably needs root, btw u can backup ur whole phone with cwm but u will have to do flashing on ur phone

In my case, I would put on phone on charging around 30% and after 10 min, it would show 100% done. When I disconnect charger, it would show anything like 82%, then after reboot, it would show 5% and after taking out battery and putting again, it would be back to 30-35% and then charge normally. This disconnection thing you are talking about happened with usb charging not normal charging.

My problem got resolved when I cleaned the USB port with a cleaning solution used to clean electronic boards. If you are on stock ROM & have not rooted your handset then take it to the Service center as your USB charging port could be non-functional / damaged.
But if you're rooted then clear your counter & flash the Indian 2.3.5 stock ROM before going to the service center.
Do update here when the problem is resolved.
Hope this helps.

Solution for Micromax A110 not charging or dead after Jelly bean update
Hi Guys,
After upgrading to JB, my phone got drained after 4 to 5 hours of music in night. But I went to sleep before it went dead or 100% drained.
Morning was the issue it was not charging out. I know this was the known issue reported in xda-developers website but no solution for a guy who was repeatedly asking solution for it.
So here comes the solution.
1. Remove your battery once and fit it back.
2. Plug you charger cable from adaptor to phone. Guys Ian not sure about usb cable users.
3. Press the power button for more than 5 to 10 seconds. You will get a battery icon but the charge will not show as it charging.
5. Don't leave the power button immediately.
6. Hold it continuously for 3 to 4 mins. The battery icon will flicker till that point.
7. After this the boot logo will come. Once it comes, your mobile will start charging.
Good luck guys.
thanks
thank you very much. you really saved me from a major major trouble.

Dead battery?
EDIT:
You are a lifesaver! I have a shattered camera glass and heavily modded phone, and dreaded visiting the service center. This fix worked perfectly!

This is the screen you're talking about, right?
I've kept the on button permanently pressed thru a knot and counting the minutes now. Perhaps I'll let it be through the night.
Hope this gets resolved.
I had the same problem.. What I did was that... I have connected the phone to pc via usb... After about 10mins the phone booted up... I'm using suvi rom

EDIT: i just been to Micromax service center. when they changed the battery my phone started working but when the service tried charging for 10 minutes, charge was not increasing at all.
he said there is problem called "dummy charging" with motherboard. they need to replace motherboard. it will take 10 days to get this part. let my phone there for repair.
It worked

[Q] Battery Issue

Hi All,
Since yesterday my SGR seems to be having weird battery issue, when i plug it in for charging it does not seem to charge, when i do it via USB cable it charges for a while & then the battery icon starts blinking (& charging stops) & it won't stop until i restart my phone.
if i shutdown the phone & allow it to charge via usb it charges fine.
The phone wasn't charging @ all few weeks back so i had the socket changed (it's out of warranty) it worked fine for couple of days & then this problem has started. i tried goggling the same but no luck. Any idea ? My charger works fine with other phones so i knw it;s not my charger also tried other chargers. :crying:
ur help is much appreciated...
Since it's only been a few weeks I suggest you show it to the ssc from where you got the charging port repaired.. It definitely seems like a hardware issue..
Also type *#*#4636#*#* in the dialpad... It should open up a diagnostics page which will show battery stats...
It's either a faulty port(or internal connection) or something wrong with the battery
From my CM10.1 powered galaxy R
I think you must check both of your Charger(already checked) & Battery to other Phone(related to it)
If both are working fine for you in other Mobile then do visit SSC & ask them to repair at free of cost coz if they say NO then threat them for Consumer complaint. Hope they will say YES for you..:fingers-crossed:
That is the problem my friend, i dnt have any friends around me with the same phone to swap the battery & check if the problem is with my phone or battery. i suppose i'm gonna have to take it to SSC this weekend. i hope i get a good techy there to identify & resolve my issue

Exactly,,, I finally confirmed it was a hardware failure cause, today I connected my usb otg cable and the tab just restarts or switches off which worked fine earlier
But yesterday it charged to 100 % without any problem.....I will recheck after installing stock rom....
The only problem is to wait for the samsung Service center people to fix it......:fingers-crossed:

Try stock if it's still giving you the same problem then it's the problem with your data cable..
It shows its charging but it actually doesn't.. It shows 100% but when you connect something to the tab it just shuts down saying battery low.. I had the same problem.. I just installed stock and got my cable replaced from the service centre..
