I'm having a hard time flashing any rom to my one plus one. I can get the recovery to work. Even after updating to the lastest version of TWRP or CWM, I still can't flash any rom. I've tried going into note pad and editing things. Doesn't work. I just keep getting the same error message. What is going on with the one plus one roms? Can anyone give me some help?
We can't help you unless you say exactly what error you're getting.

Hi everyone
Hope all is well.
I picked up a One S yesterday that was already rooted and unlocked for ATT. I got a message on my phone telling me that there was an update. I downloaded the file and the phone rebooted into CWM and gave me an error message and the update did not take place.
After looking around in CWM I found the download file but did not attempt to install it. My question is - if I apply the update will I lose root, and will my phone go back to being locked to T-Mobile?
I have read the development section and see that the root procedure and even the sim unlock procedure is fairly straight forward, but it would be nice to not have to do it again.
Thanks so much for all of your help in advance.
All the best,
Brett Day
You have to have stock recovery to flash OTA updates. Your other option is to choose from one of the custom ROMS based on the new 1.84 software. You'll need to manually flash the radio update though. There's a flashable zip for the radio around the dev thread somewhere.

There is also a full Nandroid of the 1.84 update. You can copy to your SD and restore via CWM, but you will lose all of your apps and data.
Thanks guys I really appreciate all of the help. So really the only thing I will have to do if I flash a custom rom is also flash the new radio? I guess as long as the ROM I flash is compatible with the T-Mo version of the phone I will be good to go? Or will I have to unlock for ATT again?
If you use TWRP Recovery. If you use CWR, you'll need to do some tricks to install both the radio and the boot.img for whatever ROM you choose.
Yeah phone already has CWR on it when I got it. Can you have both TWRP and CWR on the phone at the same time or is it one or the other? Without going into too much detail because I am sure all the info is in the developers thread, but what "tricks' will i need to perform? I am guessing something along the lines of using adb etc?

Only CWM or TWRP not both at the sane time.
as we all are aware of the new ota released some of us are already enjoying it but my case is different ive a rooted opo with twrp installed i downloaded the zip and tried flashing that via twrp and im getting errors all the time and more over i had a pure stock backup without any system mods or kernel mods restored tht and tried flashing the zip still the same error all i wanna know is with root and custom recovery is it possible to update our device tried searching could nt find a relevant answer thank you!
Yes, having root and a custom recovery is perfectly fine. You might want to be more specific than "getting errors all the time" of you're expecting assistance though, you haven't provided any relevant information.

What exactly is the error? Take a screen shot in twrp the same way you do in a ROM vol down + power and attach here
Has anyone one used the latest twrp recovery? I know know there have been issues with past versions.
Been working fine for me. I only use it for a little before flashing ktoonsez recovery. If you aren't having issues with your current one, really no need to change. I just always grab the latest when "starting over" from a full firmware flash.

I always grab the latest. So I snatched it up when 2.8.7 hit the floor. In fact this was my first time installing twrp with twrp. I have always used Odin but it's easy and it's been working great for me since the day it was released

I'm currently on NK5 4.4.4 and haven't updated it.. I know there's a current L update I can download, OTA, but I rather try some roms.. The thing is I'm not too sure about what recovery I can install. Is TWRP 2.8.7.0 gonna work with me or do I have to use SafeStrap? There's a bunch of options but not too clear on what will work with the current state my phone is in. I'm ready to root. Just need to know what custom recovery to flash..

Well I have used twrp recovery pretty religiously it has an good interface. Some find the Phil's CWM is good as will although I don't think that they is any more support for that, but there is one floating out there. I have never used SafeStrap. I believe that is used for lock bootloader which would be unnecessary for our Sprint phone which are unlocked.
Hello!
I recently had my OnePlus One on RMA because of a OTA-update brick.
Now when I got it back from OnePlus, my device was now suddenly running OxygenOS based on Android 5.0. This is not what I want! Fortunately, I have done Nandroid backups in the past of the Cyanogen Android 4.4.4 which I wish and need to run. So I went ahead and unlocked the bootloader of my phone, rooted it and installed TWRP, which is the same as I used to take said backups. Then I took a backup of OxygenOS 5.0 just to be safe.
Now, the issue is as soon as I restore any of my old backups (I tested that these are working in the past.), the phone goes into a bootloop and refuses to start until I flash back the OxygenOS backup.
What in the world is going on here?
After reading around some, I am wondering if this is because the "modem" or "firmware" is different now from what it was before when the backups were working?
See Step 9 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guides-bacon-timmaaas-how-to-guides-t2839471
Is this my problem? Could I try it out safely by first restoring my backup and then applying one of those (Which? I am confused why there are two downloads for the same task.)?
Please, I need a little help here as I do not want to hard brick my phone.

Yes it's because the firmware is incompatible. You can search for the right one based on which version of CM11 you had before in your backup. Oxygen modem is compatible with 5.1.1 CM ROMs in case you want to upgrade later

Thank you for your reply!
How can I tell more precisely what version I had before? All I really know is that it was CM11 and Android 4.4.4. Do I need to be more specific in my knowledge than that?
Sorry, but what do you mean by that last part? If I flash the CM11 modem, would not that remove the Oxygen modem?
Hello again,
After doing some research I decided on the XNPH44S-modem as it seems to be the newest modem for CM11.
This did however not help, the phone still bootloops after flashing the modem. Is the modem separate from the firmware? Do I need to find a firmware as well?
Help is highly appreciated.
Edit! I solved it! With a combination of http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/cm11-cm12-firmware-repository-t3019881/page2 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guide-return-opo-to-100-stock-t2826541 as guidelines I made the phone boot successfully! The snag is that "fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin" failed because it "remote: partition table doesn't exist", so "half" the boot animation seems to be missing. Any fix?
I am a little confused though, after booting up I had the OTA updated suggest update XNP44HS, which is the exact same name as the modem flash I did. What gives? Is it safe to download this update?
OTAs have me slightly worried. Last time I went through all the CM11 updates and then jumped into CM12, found it not to my liking and tried to go back, which I managed to, after which I tried to update to the latest CM11 using OTA; and the first security update here gave me a hardbricked phone that time. Any suggestions or insight into this from someone with good knowledge?

You'll have to test out the older modems till you find out which is the right one. Last I checked 05Q was the latest CM11. Try that one, otherwise download and test 33R, 30O etc till you find one that works. It would have been really easy if you could remember what version your backup was and make sure you're using TWRP 2.8.6.0. Download Oxygen OS modem too if you want to go back to it or use newer ROMs

I updated my message within a minute of you posting yours, so you might have missed the edit.
SIM and calling works with the XNP44HS modem which I flashed. Still, the OTA updater claims to have it as an awaiting update, but I am not sure if I dare downloading it or not? Also, why is that specific version of TWRP important? I can see that my current version is 2.8.5.1.
Hey Guys i downloaded a I9300 CM13 ROM for my I9300T, i tried to flash it via TWRP, but i got status error 7, which is i think because the ROM isn't compatible with my phone.. maybe it is? I dunno, if it isn't then what ROM do i download, i would highly appreciate some help here, i have a I9300 as well and that was flashed in such a easy stress free manner, but this I9300T just wont do it, can anyone point me in the correct direction? Thanks!
Sorry the error was " Updater process ended with ERROR: 7 " it wouldnt let me flash CM13, so all i done was just done a factory reset from TWRP Recovery and attempted to flash again, it worked, so problem solved.
Seems the I9300 CM13 Rom worked with the GT-I9300T, no problems so far.
