[PATCHER][APP] Dual boot any ROM on LG G3 - G3 Themes and Apps

Hi,
All credits should go to this app devloper chenxiaolong
It's an Alpha version so me and chenxiaolong are not responsible if something happens with your phone!
You have been warned.
I decided to start this thread because not many people know about this app cause it is still under Galaxy S 4 Forum. Chen will move it to General once the app hit stable release.
For now you can check his thread:
[PATCHER][APP] Dual boot any ROM on all Galaxy S4 variants!
He created this app originally for Galaxy S 4 but after a long time developing he started adding more devices. Finally he added G3 support, D855 for now but you can test it on other variant just make sure you have backup.
As far as partition layout is the same on other G3 variants this app should work.
I know we have Multiboot but personally I prefer dual boot patcher, because you don't need modified recovery to dual boot roms nor specially patched kernels.
To Dual Boot G3 you need latest apk snapshot located here:
https://snapshots.noobdev.io/
Don't use App sharing option, it's still not implemented and Update ramdisk will cause bootloop
To install second ROM like CM12, you'll need:
1. Install DualBoot APK, go to Free Space Tab and check your /system if you have over 600MB free space you can continue. If not you'll need to debloat your ROM. If you don't want to touch your Primary ROM, you have option to install Second ROM onto /cache partition.
2. Go to ROM tab, accept root request, click "three dot" menu and choose "Set kernel".
2. Download cm12 and gapps.
3. Go to tab "Patch zip" and choose "lgg3 (LG G3)" and tap "Tap to choose a file to patch", leave all option as is and hit "Tap to begin patching". Do the same with cm12 and gapps. Once patching complete you'll get a message "Patched succesfully".
4. Go to recovery, do nandroid backup!!!
5. Flash patched CM12 and gapps, Aroma installer will start with option where to flash ROM, if you have over 600MB free space in system partition flash as Secondary ROM, If you havent you can flash as Multiboot 1 which will flash your ROM in /cache partition, do da same with gapps.
7. Restart your phone, CM12 will boot up.
8. To go back to your Primary ROM install DualBoot APK in CM12, hit your Primary ROM icon and restart your phone. ROMs switching is through the DualBoot app.
If I missed something I will add it to this Guide.

This thread should be on development.
Thanks anyways!!

Work very well, imho better than multirom !

Will this work on the d851? I checked the devs site to see and I just saw d855. I am pretty certain it'll work since partitions are the same all varients, but I'd rather be safe than sorry so I'm checking

I tried on 851 but the patched rom fails during flashing. This looks very promising though.

Tried on a D850, got secondary rom installed and booted. Followed instructions for secondary, and when trying to swap I got this error.

compiled the app and added the other lgg3 codenames. This works on my d852 (currently dualbooting aicp & validus). should work on others to but I cannot test. try at your own risk. I take no credit for this
Do not use all g3 variations added to official app. Will remove attachment later today

As a temporary solution change your build.prop from:
ro.product.device=d850
to
ro.product.device=g3
App developer should add more G3 codenames to his app.

AWESOME
I have a D855 model and I can say this is working great with Resurrection Remix as a secondary ROM and GCloudy as a primary thanks for this thread man I'm going to pass by the S4 dude thread to hit thanks this is WAY easier than multirom thread, GREAT!!

You have it working on your d852? I couldn't get it to work on mine?

Can you add ls990 support also. I keep getting a "can't connect to mbtool" using the version you uploaded. I can use the one in the OP but then i have to change the build prop.

Getting the same error on my D850.

I've updated the whitelist in the snapshot builds to contain "g3", "d850", "d851", "d852", "d855", "vs985". Build 8.0.0.r1081.g21c1a7e, which contains the change should be up in a little bit.
@dagnusmaximus: If you compile your own builds, you have to edit mbtool/validcerts.cpp to contain the signature of the key that you use to sign the apk. Otherwise, mbtool will reject the socket connection and the app will say "can't connect to mbtool".

D850, D851, D852 and vs985 is added to the official app. Guys, follow this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447534
Please roport errors or requests for adding more G3 codenames to the app developer @chenxiaolong
Edit:

libmbp: Add d852 and vs985 to the LG G3 codenames
libmbp: Add d850 and d851 to the codenames for the LG G3

EDIT: This was a late reply, sorry. Checking official build now for the vs985 update.
EDIT2: Worked like a charm! I flashed a new ROM to Slot 1 in cache. I was able to successfully switch ROMs within the installer. Very cool!!

[APP][5.0.2][IR]LG QuickRemote for AOSP [1-13-15]

This zip installs the QuickRemote app and enables the IR blaster to work on AOSP Lollipop ROMs for the LG G3 (and G2). Not every device or rom has been tested, so flash at your own risk.
Credits go to @sefnap for the original G2 port, @RieGo for the original scripts, and @zzeneg for updating to the G3 versions.
WORKAROUND DETAILS:
The default SELinux policy for android was changed to enforcing mode in Lollipop to increase security. This restricts the functionality of some apps, so for QuickRemote to work we have to change the SELinux policy back to permissive mode until we have a better solution.
This zip installs an init.d script which runs at boot and sets the SELinux policy, as well as other permissions. It will also create the file /sdcard/QRemote.log, which records the SELinux policy at startup.
INSTRUCTIONS:
--Make a backup (or at least download the uninstall)
--Install the latest SuperSU (highly recommended)
--Wipe dalvik/cache (just in case)
--Flash zip in recovery (TWRP or PhilZ)
--Reboot--
--It may take a moment for device manufacturers to load, so be patient.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
First, make sure init.d is enabled:
-Check for /sdcard/QRemote.log. If the file isn't there, the init.d script did not run.
---Enable init.d support with this app
-If it still isn't working after enabling init.d and rebooting, verify that SELinux was set to permissive at boot in QRemote.log
---Try this app to set the SELinux policy instead. If the QuickRemote app force closes when you open it:
-Make sure QuicksetSDK is installed. It won't be in the app drawer, so check Setting->Apps->All
-Clear QuicksetSDK data, delete /sdcard/Quickset Setup, reboot
Thanks to everyone in this thread for helping figure this thing out!
Working perfect on liquid smooth rom, thanks for posting this!
Thanks so much for posting this. Not being able to use Smart IR on AOSP has been killing me. I absolutely hate my LG TV remote. Will be testing on Beanstalk this evening.
confirm working for d855 on cm11... thanks
Any chance of a working QuickCircle port for AOSP?
It's the only thing that's holding me back from installing CM11. I refuse to give up on this case since I paid so much money for it god damn it
Thanks, it's work !

KitKat Art, and Lollipop Art, are two different creatures. I'd think that a port of the Lollipop version of this remote from the g3 leaks should work.

Well, if it wouldn't, it wouldn't be a port, am I right?
I tried flashing it on Lollipop and using a different remote App and that didn't work either, even though the App recognized that the G3 has an IR-Blaster.
Guys, if you use a custom rom like CM12, you can make the flashable zip to work by doing the following.
First flash it normally, then grab from XDA the LGs lollipop version of QuicksetSDK, I think there should be a lollipop version, but I copied it from Android HD rom. Then replace the KitKat version with lollipop in in the System/app folder, set the correct permissions and voila it works. I have tested it on my Sony TV, it works like a charm. Good thing is that Smart Remote IR also works if interested to try.
Here's the Quickremote zip with the updated QuicksetSDK (For CM12!):

I hope you don't mind me uploading this here @zzeneg, all credits are going to you! If you want me to, I'll take it offline immediately.
I think it should work on any 5.0 AOSP-Rom.
For some reason my IR-Blaster isn't working, the app launches, but the IR-Blaster just doesn't work.

Okay guys,
here's my report for the nightly from 10th of August.
As I can say, everything is working soft and properly except of some small issues:
- multi-user-profiles are not adjustable
When I try to set a picture or change the account name a toast-message with "contact does not exist" appears. Profiles are shown as "Owner", "New User" and "Guest".
- when in 2nd user-account sometimes new installed apps are force closed
First time I noticed this, was when installing the new user-account, google framework had a fc, but afterwards everything worked great.
Second fc was on installation of SwiftKey Keyboard. To use it, I had to switch back to "owner", then the Keyboard is shown in the options
- Bluetooth music play on my car is stuttering, when phone is in use, f. e. when radar control app is in background. BT phone was fine in my car, but I read about other users, who had the same issues with their headsets.
Thats all so far.
I hope we can start a little discussion on your experiences and faced problems.
It will be great if someone can find an official way to report issues directly to the builders of this ROM.
However, the progress of development of this ROM is remarkable!

Yes you're right.
The CM Camera is stripped down to the bones very much. Just use third-party-apps like open camera or original google camera instead to more features. There's another project called Camera Next which is a port from the OnePlusOne. You'll find it on XDA.
Sadly, they all are not as capable as the Samsung Cam, but for a quickshot, they're fine.
THX for your report.

Hi,
first have a look in developer settings and switch on systemwide root access. Sometimes it get lost when flashing a new recovery. I use the TWRP 2.8.6.0 recovery. It is not buildt for the S5 duos, but it works perfect. With this recovery I never lost root access by flashing a new ROM.
BTW, CM provides a custom recovery since the Nightly 13th of August. Anyone tried this?

surnia_boost_51-2-official_removed_NOT_FLASHABLE.zip
NOTE1: Your partitions need to have already been updated to 5.1 official before using this ROM. If you have not updated them to 5.1 official (LPI23.29-18-S.8), you should ( zip located here ). Once updated, flash this partition updater AND the rom of choice.
NOTE2: The unmodified ROM is not rooted. To root, flash SuperSU after the ROM
NOTE3: Your device must have a custom recovery such as TWRP to flash ROMs.
NOTE4: These zips are unsigned so you may need to disable signature verification in TWRP before flashing.
Flash in TWRP as follows:
Download ROM
Put the ROM.zip on your sdcard if not already
Reboot to TWRP Recovery
MAKE A BACKUP!!!!!!!!!!
Wipe data/Factoy reset
Install partition updater from sdcard (see NOTE1 above)
Install ROM from sdcard
Reboot
Enjoy!

Allows you to adb remount and adb push to /system. If you don't want this feature, you can flash the unmodified rom or flash the deodexed rom and then the stock kernel

Can you make a XT1521 version of debloated ROM?
Does the debloated version have a modded play store? I can't seem to get Poweramp to verify pro license

The play store is not modded, just deodexed.
Hmmm.. I'll have to look into this a little further. Something is preventing Poweramp from verifying.

I have a new signature for all the people coming to this thread and silently downloading the files. You know who you are
This rom is pretty killer with squids r11e kernel .. Thanks

XT1521 ??
Is there any boost stock rom for XT1521 ??
Deodexed version worked great on SPP MOTO E. I am able to get LTE to work without a glitch. Thanks @SuperR. for the great work.
Firmware won't mount
When I try to install any of your zips I get an error like this: Failed to mount /firmware (Device or resource busy). I even wiped my whole system but nothing will resolve it.
If I am already on the official 5.1 official (LPI23.29-18-S.8), do I still need to flash the partition updater?
Edit: Sorry nevermind. I reread the first post. I missed that part.
There is a new update poped 25.11.26.en.US today.
Would you be updating a New Firmware ?
Waiting for the new stock rooted!

Or is there an easier way?
Please let me know,

No, this is a port of the normal Chinese version. No gapps.
Opengapps flashes but messes things up.
I'll be playing with it in the next couple days as i'm able (traveling for work) just to hack play store onto it, but when I return home I'm going to cook up a debloated ROM based on this one, including gapps. Stay tuned...

Cool! Thank you. I'm gonna wait then.

OP updated instructions & download link added.
Gapps version to follow as mentioned in previous post.

Hey jetfin,

Edit: Don´t hurry up! I flashed Miui and I ****ing hate it Nothing works ...
Does this ROM also work for the i15-TCL? If not, is there a ROM for i15-TCL too? Whats the difference to i15-TD?

Day job dominating my life these past months.
Miui works fine for me and others. Sounds like a bad flash or other reasons to me. I find Miui more stable and a bit faster than the stock rom.

I flashed it again 2 months ago. After that, MIUI worked fine for me. Still missing xposed ...
Hello,
I've tryed this rom into my i15-T and all is allright without one thing: ingame, I've 5fps (Dokkan battle as example) or I can't open "Super Cell" games...
GPU drivers are included into this rom?
Actually, I can't use this rom.
It's ok for you about this point?
