Perfect on Wi-Fi Only version. Buttery smooth and that April Fool's Microsoft joke tops it off

works really well on my wifi model in the uk and the implementation of shield hub fully working has made me replace nvidias stock firmware.

But the controller doesn't work :/

The shield hub works fully and I don't have the nvidia controller so I use my wireless Xbox controller with a otg cable and works perfectly for the grid games.
However you don't get the built game mapping that nvidia includes but there are apps in the play store for that

Great if you have that cable, and if you didn't fork out £40 for the controller AND if you don't play your PC games remotely (oh I do) otherwise... Not much use.

Um...this is an experimental build.
If you need the controller go back to stock.

I'm simply reminding people that not quite all is well. People reading that Grid works great etc, everything working great etc.
Just reminding people of the crucial part here that doesn't work.
All the countless people on XDA that chime off the "well go back to stock" phrase actually hinder development. The more people that use, report on and collaborate on something free, the better.
Exactly why MS have decided to make Windows 10 a free upgrade to normal consumers.

Well, you already used, and reported the bug. As others, its a know bug that, unless you were going to try do develop a fix yourself, which I can't imagine you were, then telling you to go back to stock doesn't affect you being "people that use, report on and collaborate" as you already done all in your power.
Unless of course you were planning on building a fix yourself, and if that's the case...and my comment made you give up and go back to stock, then you are way too easily discouraged my friend.
And wow, if you think Microsoft made Windows a free upgrade to help development your so wrong. They made it a free upgrade because SOOOO many people still run Windows 7, which means they don't have access to the Windows Store. If all those people get a free upgrade they'll all get access to the Windows Store, which means buying things which give Microsoft money. Almost like how the PS3 cost $800 to make, but was being sold for $600. Sony knew that if people had the PS3, they would buy games, controllers, accessories, PS Gold, etc. which is where they make most money. However Microsoft releasing the technical previews publically for free was to aid development, so I mean your not all wrong

[Q] [ROM] FolioMod Nvidia edition

seems to be a concern whether i should use original framework from Toshiba with its better hardware support, or make a Nvidia framework edition with less good support for speciifc parts of the hardware like BT and USB.
So question with this poll would be what is the preference here..
If you can pack all the supported stuff in there, better hardware support from toshiba should make it more stable, right?
btw. : Is this the Foliomod offtopic thread?
I'd like to rage about the toshiba forums somewhere.

Dear Dexter_nlb
At first, I bring to you a thanks from more than 100 Chinese users. Your roms realy fix lot of prolbem for AS100.
I translated your question and post it at a most popular android forums in China Yesterday.
Until now, 9 people agree a Nvidia framework ROM, 3 people want still keep Toshiba framework.
In that post, all users hope can fix the gravity sensing's prolbem (the gravity upside down in some gam, and run the Bubble in landscape screen time)
3 users want keep app from Tosiba, like Tosiba market, FileMgr.
Just 1 user want keep the Tosiba Desktop.
Hope that infomation can help you.
sorry about my english not good, but i think you can read it.

thanks for all your feedback!
i think the only way forward, is that i keep both editions alive..
having 0.2 being nvidia based moving forward from 0.2a ->
and Toshiba edition which personally i like, to move from a 1.0 state and forward.
i might just need to change name of one of them..
but yes, it seems somehow majority want a nvidia, with less hardware functionality (at least seen from 0.2) and maybe with BT fixes in future update.
and that i might just agree on IF i cannot fix paid apps download, which for 2 days has been really annoying. (i even got an account from a supporter with a paid app, so i could test this)
if time is available, i will try and make 0.2a grow with a 100% 360degree fix and hopefully a better BT fix.

I just know the 0.2 editon from Nvdia framework. So I will posted a new thread with that point, for ask all guys again.
Because now they all using 10.b and think it's handy for use. (exclude someone fear of the risk of refresh ROM. XD )
But, our timezone now is 4:31AM, i guess maybe tomo can give you a feedback.
In my opinion it would be best to keep on devolloping the toshiba edition. I also think it would be cool if we could choose between a couple of launcers after te installation.
Also, why make versions with and/or withoud certain app's? (toshiba marktplace) Users can always add or delete these

? (0.2 is stock based, so no toshiba apps work well)
1.0b is toshiba stock firmware based with updates, so all their apps included as found in their release..
somehow, your question is understood..
I'm glad to see that some people share my concerns.
I've tested all the mod that you, Dexter have setup.
My conclusion is that Toshiba have tried to put some multimedia friendly stuffs in front of the scene but they partially failed on the finish line.
As we can experience this release can play movie in high quality but the UI freeze randomly. It's really difficult to setup a complete full media.
On the other side the nvidia release is fast, consumers cherry less and only tried to
prove the velocity of the hardware. I'm sure they are working hard on android since
as we can see tegra2 is coming to the smartphone tablet and other tegra is on the
way.
On the ToshMod(proposition) we can only integrate what toshiba is providing. Are they still working on the tablet after the folio selling fiasco ?
On the DextMod nvidia will provide for sure new release but we need to community and time to setup all goodies required for basic consumers. This release
is favored by developpers.
Since Dexter is working alone (until now) i think it's much more easy to continue on the toshmod to get results and new features. If we can get some more ressources then DexterMod based on nvidia would be more open.
It's just present conclusions, please share yours views
nvidia mod is better, more responsive and faster.

i probably need a VM install with different linux..
Android porting is a mess!!!!! If you follow all directions on android porting, nothing will work as google says! First of all froyo will compile only on a amd64 linux version, then you will discover that the recommended jdk5 is not requested...
grunt :S
I hate Android
I'm using ubuntu 10.10 amd64 (x64 is required for froyo) running into a virtualbox hosted by winxp and works like a charm.
I did also an hack to get raw access the hd without using virtual disk images.

Cyanogenmod 7 for Harmony Released!

Though not specifically listed for us, CM7 for harmony was released along with the other builds today. It looks and runs great so far, and the Tablet tweaks work really well, I like having the buttons in the bottom left personally. I haven't had alot of time with it, but I have yet to spot anything out of place and it runs great so far.
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=harmony
There are a few bugs in the keyboard as numbers do not show up properly. Everyone should thank Bekit as he's really pushed CM7 for the G-Tab and spent a ton of time hacking away at code.
::edit::
Nevermind, their Wiki site is just screwed up showing out of date links. http://mirror.cyanogenmod.com/get/update-cm-7.0.0-Harmony-signed.zip

Thanks.
I was running this since beta and rc and its more bug free than ever. The stock keyboard does suck on a tablet. The best one is SwiftKey for tablets. Go to their website and sign up for vip and you can dl the beta.
Now that we are running cm, can we start using rom manager and whatever version of cwm it installs or is that still a problem for g tabs?
MC
Been running this for about a week now (clearly not the stable as it was JUST released) and have been really happy with it.
Side note I do hate the keyboard as it is just a little small (for me but i have big hands).
I do hope this version fixes the DSP Manager FC issue. I was going to install the nightly yesterday which had the fix but never did get around to it.

Very sweet...
Overall feels very responsive and smooth (though that could be from the data/system/cache wipe before installing).
WiFi location works very well.
Tablet Tweaks is a nice addition as well as the standard CyanogenMod Settings.
Notification swipe for the Power Widget is nice.
Haven't looked at the themes or profiles yet.
how long do ya think it will take to have the nvidia files merged into gingerbread roms? cuz the poor playback is a definate deal breaker for me but i would love to run cm7
Recovery?
Has anyone else had any issues in getting into CWM after installing this?!? I cannot at all get to recovery. It just boots straight into CM7.

Cornerstone by Onskreen just went Open Source!

Cornerstone allows you to see multiple apps running at once, like a window manager for Android.
This is some seriously cool ****. Check it out:
http://onskreen.com/cornerstone/
They have just gone Open Source and put the code on GitHub.
It's not as useful for tiny phone screens, where you need every pixel for just a single app. But for tablets -- especially the 7" and 10" sizes -- this is a huge deal. Android tablets can now actually be used for real work.
I would love to see this in CM9. So far, no official APK has been released, and it's not clear whether a deeper level of integration is required from ROM vendors. I've asked some basic questions on their Google group for Cornerstone development:
http://groups.google.com/group/cornerstone-dev
Further Info:
In order to control the screen display of other 3rd-party apps, Cornerstone does in fact make changes to the Android "/framework" code. (There are those framework changes, plus two APK packages that provide the GUI for launching and managing apps.)
This means that Cornerstone support would need to be integrated into the ROM directly. It cannot simply be installed with an APK. I'm fairly new to Android development, but it seems like it would be necessary to apply their changes to the Cyanogenmod GitHub tree and then build a new ROM for your specific device.
It would be easiest for users if the CM team if they integrated the support directly into their tree; then users would be able to choose to use the end-user APK files or simply not use them.
Any chance you could post an apk? I'm not able to build it otherwise till tomorrow or so and that sounds awesome!

Hello,
I would like to build some ROM's for the Sheild Tablet. I do not own a Shield Tablet but would like to contribute anyway.
Please tell me what roms you would like me to build from source. CM, AOKP, Liquid Smooth, AICP, etc. I will try to build at least one of these more if I have the time.
Edit: You can now test my build of AICP for the Shield Tablet here

Here ya go. I attach them in a .rar file.
Would it be possible to fine tune 3D performance? My current problem is that games are running on rather high fps, however many of them are choppy. Walking Dead character or camera movement is sometimes really choppy, Real Racing 3 too, Horn has some random 0.025 sec fps drops, etc.
Would is be possible to make the games smoother with a custom rom ?
Also, the kernel is keeping the cpu frequency changing between 2050 Mhz and 2200 Mhz. It is not that bad as it is with MiPad (the frequency there is jumping a lot more), but still it would be great if the frequency would be always on the max. This would make the Shield run a bit hotter than now, but still, it would not be much higher than now. The Shield Tablet has really nice cooling.
My 3 main reason why I would use a custom rom:
-to have more free ram than in the stock rom
-to have a better optimized kernel which keeps the cpu on max frequency all the time
-to hopefully fix the "choppiness" in the games

LuneOS on the Mi A1

Hi everyone,
Another heads up with respect to a Mi A1 project -- one which will be of special interest to the webOS refugees among us.
The LuneOS project has just announced that the Mi A1 is their new target device. You can read all about it over at PivotCE: https://pivotce.com/2018/11/28/luneos-november-stable-release-doppio/
The LuneOS project is an effort to create an open-source webOS distribution for smartphones (and possibly other devices). It has recently received a major helping hand from LG, which has open sourced a lot of new webOS code developed for their smart TVs. That being said, LuneOS is not suitable for everyday use. There's a lot left to do and the project is run entirely by a group of volunteers who don't do timelines. So don't ask them when it will be ready!
What I really love about this decision is that they were looking for an inexpensive development device to replace the Nexus 4. That's exactly why I bought my Mi A1 -- and I think it's shaping up to be next in the line of great development targets, like the HTC HD2 and the Nexus 4. I couldn't be happier about that.
Yep, very interesting os
But can u give me link for the install tutorial
Coz i saw only for nexus phones, not for our

Yeah, they haven't posted the instructions on the wiki yet. But Herrie posted a set of basic steps over on webOS Nation: https://forums.webosnation.com/lune...vember-stable-release-doppio.html#post3454659

Have you had any success yet? Oh, and nice to see a new face at webOS Nation. That's a rare thing these days!

Bad? It's a project in development. As I mentioned, it's not suitable for everyday use and there's still a lot to do.
But the RIL and calling not working is a regression. Both used to work on the Nexus 4. The regression is likely the result of adopting a new device and the recent work to integrate with the Halium project. That's just me speculating, though.
Thanks for providing the test results. I'm looking forward to giving it a go and seeing what does and doesn't work at this point (and which of the old webOS apps I can install, etc.).

yep, i think we need some roms like web os and sailfish to port, because android is good, but any other os is better
just for new experience
Installation
Hello,
I would like to test LuneOS on my Mi A1 but don't succeed in installing it.
Which stock ROM (7.1.2, there are quite a few) do I have to flash, and where can I obtain a working TWRP bootable with this stock rom?
I'm somehow not able to boot suggested TWRP image with latest 7.1.2 stock rom, maybe you could provide some links?
By the way: Is latest stable update >>stable<< enough to make phone calls and access LTE internet already?
Thank you in advance!
