[Q] Question point/level/experience related! - Other Tools & General Discussion

Devs! Question about coins-per-level & experience-per-level.
We are working on a game where the user progresses through a world-map. Similar like level-progress in Candy Crush.
I'm very busy with creating some sort of formula where we can estimate how much points the user needs to enter new levels, in a way we can add more levels in the future. To be more clear about this, this is what I (and probably a lot more devs here) would like:
For example, we have 5 levels. Level 1 is where the user starts, and if this level is completed, the user gets 1 experience point + 2 coin points. For the next level the user needs 2 experience points, so the user should play level 1 again to play level 2. This goes on and on until level 5, but the problem here is that at a certain point there is just way to much experience needed to get to next levels etc. We are going to make 40+ levels so what my question here is:
Is there some sort of tool that can estimate a balanced but challenging experience/coin point system? Or some sort of already thought of formula that is usable.
I hope you guys have some good thoughts about this, or have a good laugh at this thread. Either way, let's discuss about this!

Hi,
I've tried your game a little bit and would like to point out some things, which, in my opinion could be improved:
* main menu text is really hard to read in colorful background, maybe adding an background views, rounding them and making white with transparency, would help. I'm not a big fan of that font either, but that's a matter of taste.
* ad area view is larger than the ad itself, doesn't look good
* what's the point of having to drop all the obstacles from fixed height? It looks like it's only to demonstrate that there is physics in the game and make the construction more difficult than it needs to be
* first time playing I had no idea about ninjas and where are they attacking from maybe some in-game guide lines would help or maybe a way to try their attack angles before placing all objects
* I can't scroll level list if I start scrolling on a level button (that fires an event to go to the level)
* Some animal animations (hurt/happy/falling) would be nice

1) ya right i will add something like button behind this text
2)on which device you are i have test it in three devices in none it is outside of actual ad
3) thats necessary just imagine how it would be if you have to directly put the object where you want also that can create some weird issue what if one put object on top of other object also by doing this it will make some what accuracy to drop the object as because of physics you have to calculate little bit
4) i had written it clearly in android market description seems no one is reading that may be one extra screen shot in instruction can help
5) that's why there is no button at right side
6) not possible because that needs designer and with my current earning it is even hard to afford dog or cat even dare to say mouse so no chance for designer

2. I've tested it on Galaxy Tab 7 and then on Galaxy Tab 10 (in this case ad area is even more "outside of ad"
4. Well, still, I mean there's no indication of possible danger to poor animal when you start your first game And, it's true, no one reads market descriptions and I don't think many are looking for game play instructions there either.
5. Wrong answer, really. I'll write a bit more below.
6. I completely understand you there
So, to elaborate more on points 4 and 5, I think you should give your game to as many friends as possible (and it's best if they haven't tried it yet) and just let them try to play. You'll see how differently they think and behave in a game environment being there for the first time. In my case (simple running/jumping game) I was surprised to see them just blindly tapping all over the screen trying to do "anything" and, despite the fact that there's instructions in the start of every level, they had a hard time finding out that game character can do double jumps and will jump higher if they hold finger instead of tapping it.
In your game, gameplay is much more complex, so tutorial with clear instructions is a must, in my opinion.
As for game level select, I can asure you, that 9 of 10 will try to scroll the button list, not the side, where is no indication that it's scrollable and nothing to scroll there.
Also, I've experienced, that in the start of some levels animals are being affected by physics (or maybe a wind?) and starts to roll, sometimes falling from the platforms. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but it makes level unnecessary hard.
Ah, one more thing.. I'm not sure that asking users for a 5 star rating is a good idea. In many levels.
And, lastly, take my advice with a grain of salt, since I'm just an amateur developer, still learning all these little things: what can annoy your app user and what can make them happy.
2) ya may be i cant see that is out side of ad because i have all device with small screen 3.2 to 3.5 inch so in large screen it will totally visible.
3) yup i will add extra screenshot to with ninja and darts to show animals are in danger from ninja
4) well thinking to add scroll bar somewhat like in browser to move how will be that
also the idea to try game on friends will be much better i will definitely. use that from now
"

yup 100% intentional need to be fast to solve those levels
"Ah, one more thing.. I'm not sure that asking users for a 5 star rating is a good idea. In many levels."
well i am not giving popup in middle of the game so definitely it will not annoy user but i am asking every time at the time of exit to give rate until they give rate thought user will give rating if they dont like this just crazy experiment with not much good result
one more game
guys you can also try my other game "feed fruit to the animal'

[GAME][2.2+] Tap the numbers

Hello devs,
Some time ago I decided to put some efforts to android development. I've spend some time to learn and to develop my first small casual game. Once I completed it I posted the APK file to Google Play. Suddenly I got no rush of downloads, till now I have only 20 users playing this game. I'm not disappointed, I want to improve the game but I don't know that to do first. I don't want to spend money to get better design because this game have not earned at least 1 dollar at the moment.
The idea of the game is to tap numbers in ascending order one by one. My own record in 1:35 mins.
My ideas:
- Scores plus sharing to Twitter/Facebook.
- Customize count of numbers on the screen. Could also be separated to levels from Easy(4*5 numbers) to Hard(10*10)
- Add hint if the user is not able to find number in 5 secs
- Allow user to turn of color and font size - just use one in case user wants this
- Use server-side stats to compare results from different users
- Make promo-video
I'm not sure do I have good description and screenshots ? Is it interesting at all to play ? Maybe the whole idea is bad.
I want to get a feedback from all of you.
I cannot post external links to Market, so it's id is com.intorion.memorygame and name Tap The Numbers.

[GAME][2.3+]Color Chains

Hello everyone,
A couple of days ago I published my first Android project - a game called Color Chains. It's somewhat similar to "Match 3" games, but you have to make "chains" of cells in which each 2 consequent cells have a different color. The longer the chain, the more points you will earn.
The game is on the Google PlayStore, however due to a low number of posts I cannot post the full URL, and I apologise for that. I've also attached the APK.
h**ps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.frozenraindrop.colorchains
The gameplay is pretty simple - tap, hold, and drag to select, release to validate your selection and earn points. You will compete against time, but every 100 points you will earn additional time. Every 250 points you will get the ability to randomize the whole board, which can be useful if you have big clusters of same-colored cells. Every 60 seconds the game will advance in level, which means that you will earn more points (5% multiplier per level), but earn less bonus time (-1sec per level). After 10 minutes of gameplay you will reach level 10, complete the challenge, have your score recorded, and then you can continue playing.
The game was developed in Unity 4.6 and Unity 5.0 (which are to blame for the huge APK size) and is ad-supported.
I welcome any comments, suggestions, ideas, etc. Thank you in advance
The game is pretty simple, but it works well and it's fun to play. It's a nice difference to the multitude of match-3 games available. Good work.

Thank you. It is indeed simple. As a matter of fact I think that if anything, there might be a bit of a feature creep. The "leveling" feels a bit artificial and I'm considering removing it.
Btw, I'd appreciate it if anyone can test the game and confirm that it's working as intended on a Galaxy S3. It stops working after a while on my girlfriend's S3 (running stock Samsung 4.3 ROM), but it's a weird bug and I cannot reproduce it on another device. I've tested it on two Nexus 5s and a Nexus 7 (2012), both running Lollipop, as well as a LG G2 running 4.x, and it seems to run fine on those.

[Game] Endless Food - saves lives

About me:
Hello!
My name is Ilya.
And I apologize in advance for my bad English.
I am the creator, programmer and designer in my small studio: Thevisioline
Throughout my life I have been helping many people: from simple advice, to great actions. I always liked to help people. But, for obvious reasons, I can not help anyone who addresses me. But one day I had an idea: almost everyone has smartphones, so why not help a large number of people with this help at the same time?
I had knowledge in programming and founded a studio to create applications on the phone - it was not a problem. But what is the studio without its own product? At this point, I decided to approach this topic from the other side: a mixture of the game and the application in one small game. So my studio appeared, and with it my first project: Endless Food.
Game description:
Every day for two months I worked on Endless Food. And even now, five months after the release of the game, work continues on it.
Let me tell you more about my game: Endless Food is a mixture of game and application. The main task was to make a game that would be useful and interesting.
So what can Endless Food help people? Can it, for example, give a second life or give immortality?
It certainly can not give immortality, but in emergency situations it can help, and often, it can save a life for you or someone around you. My first creation is able to train people in such necessary skills as Reaction. Incidentally, the game helps you to think through your moves in advance and make a decision instantly.
When you first start the game does not give you a path by which you can develop the necessary skills. It is just a tool for gaining knowledge. The game gives you only an opportunity, but how you use it, start playing and improving your skills, or you'll delete, you decide only yourself.
The user who just started the game, first of all sees how the hamburger tries to escape from the fork, moving on the plates. In appearance, mindless occupation, but do not rush to make hasty conclusions. To score more than 20 points at the very beginning will be problematic enough and only by training the necessary skills, the player will begin to correctly evaluate all his actions and possibilities, and only after that the user will be able to gain more and more points. But, despite the first successes, in order to develop these skills at the proper level, it is necessary to play this game for at least 15 minutes a day for 2-3 weeks. After this period, the player will restore these vital skills.
There are two modes in the game: Classic and Back and Forth. Each of the modes is responsible for training different skills:
- Classic - suitable for those users who feel that the reaction they have at the proper level. In this mode, the player controls the speed of the hamburger: slows the hamburger or accelerates, thereby using not only the reaction, but also the speed of decision making and the speed of thinking about the consequences. In order to gain in this mode as many points as possible, you need to think through each step.
- Back and Forth - will be more useful to beginners. This, so to speak, the first step in restoring the required level of reaction. In this mode, the hamburger and fork move in the same direction at the same speed, but at any moment the plug can change its direction. The task of the player is to have time to click on the screen, thereby changing their direction.
Endless Food will be useful not only for the younger generation, but also for a more adult audience. Because a person is over 40 years old, care begins to deteriorate, he becomes more diffused and does not have such a quick reaction as in his youth. But, after a very short period of play for 2-3 weeks, even an adult will begin to feel better.
You probably wonder where the calculations came from, if you need to play at least 15 minutes a day for 2-3 weeks? From the moment of development to the release of the game, we conducted many tests on different groups of people, in order to determine the optimal time for training. The game was tested on 50 users from different age categories. 44 of which showed an impressive result. For the remaining 6, we increased the playing time to 20 minutes per day, and after 2 weeks they showed a much better result, although it did not reach the previous 44 users, but it proved that our game can help people of all ages.
The graphics also made a special approach: our goal was to make the graphics simultaneously stylish and pleasant, to attract both young and older audiences. Therefore, we chose the approach to use low polygonal graphics, thus the game became less demanding to the power of the phone, but the graphics remained at a decent level. On the main screen and during the game, it was decided to use as few distracting elements as possible, thereby completely immersing the user in the game.
The game also has a table of records, thereby giving the player to compare their successes with the successes of other users of Endless Food.
The game is free, but the game has unobtrusive advertising, which is necessary for further research in this direction and creating more games.
Addition:
Endless Food is the first, but by no means the last, mixture of the game and the application, in the meaning of which is the help to people. New projects are already being prepared that can help a person in all sorts of life situations.
I want to help as many people as possible using games in their devices. Telephones now have almost everyone, but not everyone can find the necessary information in it. With our games, all the vital information the user can acquire and train through the phone.
To understand if such an approach is necessary for people, we need to get as many downloads and, as a result, feedback. Once in the top on xda-developers, we can quickly get a large number of reviews and complete the game, if necessary. After that, I will immediately start creating new projects and will be able to help even more people.
I plan to gather a team of like-minded people with whom we can do more large-scale projects aimed at helping people. At this stage of development, I need to get into the top xda-developers, after which Endless Food will immediately receive a lot of downloads and reviews! I'm sure that this type of games will become more useful for users every day.
Once again, I apologize for my English.
Thank you in advance and thank you for your time.
Best wishes to you!
