Stuck on boot logo after rom manager backup recovery. - General Questions and Answers

I had to restore my phone to the stock rom. After I restored it I rooted my phone again. Once it was rooted I tried to restore my rom manager backup, but after I did my phone wouldn't get past the Samsung logo. How can I fix this? I am using Samsung galaxy s4 on 4.4.2. I may be wrong, but I think the backup is a backup of 4.2.2

Your'e first gonna need to flash 4.2.2 you can find it here

Thanks for the reply! There is anyway I can find out for sure if it was 4.2.2 or not?
Also how do I flash it? Do I just use Oden and open the firmware I want to flash?

So did it not work for me because I was trying to use the recovery for 4.4.2 when it was made on 4.2.2?

Also for some reason my phone is really laggy, to the point where it is almost unusable. This started happening when I restored it to the factory settings (using rom manager). Is this because its on 4.4.2 and do you think it'll be like this after I restore my backup?

You should go into recovery mode power + volume up + home button and do a wipe from there.

So there's a option there to do a advanced wipe, and wipe everything.

I think I did that. I had to set up the phone like it was straight from the box.

Maybe you messed something up in the root and that's why factory reset doesn't help...
Reflash the firmware from sammobile and your'e good to go!!
BTW if you don't have a premium account then the download will take very long so start downloading it now

Just to be fair. Its declared that free users download with 15KB/s. Thats not true, its just a marketing strategy and free users are allowed to download with 300KB/s. Even if a firmware is 1.5GB you can download it as free user without spending the whole day on it.

I'm not sure if it's legit, but it seems like it is since it's the first link on Google.
Also I wish my download speeds were like that. I consider my download speeds good when it downloads 100 kilobytes per second.

Is it OK if the yellow box in Oden that tells you that your phone connect is blue instead of yellow?

[ROM] 7/8/10 updated Fresh Onda v.1 Based off Fresh Rom 2.3.3

Hi first of all i know no one on here knows about me. My name is Chris and i take no credit for any development, as i dont know how to really develope. All this really is, is fresh rom 2.3.3 but stripped down and themed and with the exception of droid unlock screen with working alarm clock, and batscreen boot up logo. No credit goes to me but to everybody who gets this stuff actually working. Im sorry if you feel that this thread is useless but i just want to see if this rom gets a lot of people maybe not, but im working my way up and willing to learn so i hope you like it and let me know what you think. Thanks

So basically this is a stripped down rom of fresh rom 2.3.3
took alot of apps that were taking up alot of memory. this means no friendstream no live wallpapers i do not know about overclocking i think it does but im not sure i really dont use it, also i dont know if it has a2sd. you should have 109 mb availible after flashing. remember i am not responsible for what you do to your phone. always do a nandroid back up. wipe everything before flash.

this is the link to all the apks, ringtones, and notifications that were removed from the rom in order to make it smaller.

[Recovery][Sep. 12, 2011] Unofficial Team Win Recovery Project

First and foremost this is an UNOFFICIAL build of TWRP and is not supported by Team Win, but I do have permission from Team Win to post this build.
All the credit goes to Team Win for making this recovery image.
The source code for TWRP is found here: https://github.com/TeamWin/Team-Win-Recovery-Project/
And since I edited 2 files to get this recovery image to work on our device, here they are: default_recovery_ui.c: http://db.tt/rr3Qdvm extra-functions.c: http://db.tt/HALUrq1
Within this recovery there are different button controls:
- Menu: Advanced Menu
- Home: Home Menu
- Back: Back
- Volume Keys: Up & Down
- Trackball: Up, Down, & Select
- Send: Select
This recovery image has the option of compressing your nandroid backups to save space on your SD card, albeit that it takes longer. Also all recovery image builds are flashable from recovery.

Can't wait to try. I think that most any Rom wipes boot anyway during install. How much does the back up get compressed? That's the coolest feature I can think of right off the bat.
I have been flashing images in Advanced restore in cwm, but it sounds like you could flash other images as well... sort of an h-boot s-off flasher.
Any issues restoring backups from cwm? I guess I'm going to find out. I've been loving the lantern series too.
You think Meth is bad? Try being a flash whore with a Gingerbread habit and a legacy device! It ain't pretty.

I know that with the 3d backups, the compression is around 50%... Maybe a little more. Takes longer to backup, but it's worth it

[ROOT][T769] Rooted kernel for Blaze 4G :: 4/9/12

k0nane presents...
Rooted Kernel for Blaze 4G
Sponsored by k0nane.info. Have you tipped your devs today?
DO NOT CHECK REPARTITION! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Why the big red warning? Far too many people have broken their devices by not following these instructions! Search the forums, or drop by IRC - you'll see plenty of examples.
So, you wanted root? You got root! Samsung devices come with an unlocked bootloader. Thanks to pointers from other members that the T-Mo SGS2 CWM boots (badly), we were able to get some dumps, and prep this easily little package for you. This kernel includes a fully-linked copy of BusyBox 1.19.3, init.d (busybox run-parts) support, and various other niceties. Devs, see here for what the script essentially looks like.
Instructions
Download Odin 1.85 - see section below.
Download the rooted kernel TAR - see section below.
Extract the contents of odin-185.zip.
Run Odin 1.85.exe, and prepare Odin:
Check "auto-reboot", and uncheck all other options.
Click PDA and select the TAR you downloaded. Click PIT and select the PIT your downloaded.
Put your device into Download Mode:
Connect the USB cable to your PC, but NOT your device.
Remove the battery.
Reinsert the battery.
Hold down Volume Up + Volume Down + Power.
You should now be at Download Mode.
Click Start in Odin.
That's it! Your device will autoreboot, and your phone should be working properly again.

First of all, thank you for your hard work and time!
I'm just wondering if anything needs to be clicked on when the phone is set on Download Mode?
I have everything setup in Odin but I only get a msg saying:
"<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)"
No activity on the phone. The instructions are clear and I did read them 5 times over , just wondering if anything else needs to be done in Odin.
Thanks again!
Whoo Hoo! So jazzed! I was getting impatient with the dev support for the t769 and was going to return it and hold out for the HTC One S.
Now, with Root and CWM, I might just keep this thing. I have a feeling that XDA will make a section for us and ROM dev will be around the corner!

Just want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. The process described above will give root access while keeping the stock ROM that came with the phone, right? Upgrading to ICS through the installation of new ROMs is a separate process? Thanks for all the work on this!
Just FYI, when you click to upload the PIT, "Re-Partition" will auto select itself again. scared the crap out of me.

Correct, rooted with stock kernel/rom. I got rid of 95% of the bloatware and already notice a difference in snappiness.

I downloaded the root trapkernal from @ShinySide
and thank you so much btw for the awesome root that ive been anxiously waiting for
day by day

i forgot the ome box was unchecked
so basically i turn it on and in big bold letters it says
custom binary blocked by FRP
i have the MetroPCS SM-G360t1 5.1.1 galaxy core prime
they say downloading the stock firmware for it should do the trick with odin
thing is idk if i can use the tombile frimware SM-G360t1 instead since core prime has that too, or does it HAVE to be the metropcs firmware
and i say if i can use that instead because ive been looking or hrs, since yesterday for a metropcs firmware yet no luck
but ican at least enter the phones recovery menu and i did the wipe cache and wipe datafactory reset then reboot and that doesnt work
i can at least go into download mode though

Whoa sent you to what page? And if you're talking about HispAsian Kernel v7, if you flash that you're going to have a permanent brick.

ohhh right , i clicked on the hip asain link v7 lol
i thought thats what u meant
never mind
i got confused
now, when u said flash the stock kernal, do u know where i can get it for the metreopcs sm-g360t1 5.1.1
like i said earlier i looked and looked for hrsss and cant find any
Yeah don't go to my threads without looking what forum they're in. I have stuff from s4, s5, sm-g360t, g530t, and A700f. Only thing I have for yall is the trap kernel.
SM-G360T = Tmobile
SM-G360T1 = MetroPCS
Unfortunately I don't even own the device, and I deleted the stock boot.img from my AFH. @bogarty might have one tho. I'm with family right now and not able to pull it for you.
I do however have the stock firmware on AFH if you want a speedy download.

Yes. Just make sure you've updated to the newest firmware. In "Settings/About Device" baseband should say "G360T1UVU1AOFA". Then just go to @ShinySide's root thread and follow the instructions for root. Here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62859013

I'm sorry to hear that. Warranty probably won't cover that. Were you paying for insurance on it by chance? It is one of the least expensive phones out there too. Maybe you could pick up another one?

You should try downloading & reflashing the stock firmware in Odin for your specific device model. It's been known to do a true factory reset of the device, which resets the FRP. Just go to:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Search your model number #, click on the most recent firmware in the list, download it and follow the
instructions at the bottom of the download page to flash in Odin.
Also, don't use King Root if at all possible. It's been known to cause security issues in some devices. Just Google "XDA (your device model ) root" & see if there's a better option. Good luck!
I only found a tmobile one will that work for me even tho I have a metro Pcs grand prime?

A quick guide on how to get past the FRP sync-with-the-old-account screen.
- Download and install Samsung's sidesync
- Connect your device on the same wifi network as is your computer
- Device will prompt you to use a browser - chose the default one 'Internet'
- Use the browser to download http://www.unlocksamsungonline.nl/setting.apk, to access the file go to bookmarks>history>download history>setting.apk == install and run it.
- Go to backup & recovery and choose factory reset (If it will ask you for a password, go back and go to 'Security' and setup a lockscreen password and then try again with that password)
- Wait for the reset
- You should be able to get past the sync screen now and FRP should be OFF.
Hope this helps.
I am trying to root my device for the first time (G360T1). I used the full firmware posted earlier in the thread. Then tried to use trapkernel via odin. But ev ery time I try I get a message on the screen of the phone saying "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock". Whats the work around here. I thought flashing to the earlier firmware postedx in this thread would fix it, but apparently not.
Thanks in advance.

What's new?
Whole SystemUI is new, camera app is new, apps are new, keyboard is new, browser looks different too, InCallUI is different, AOD is interactive finally, 3rd party notifications work too, notification design is also new, there is performance mode like in MIUI that gives Your device extra boost, fingerprint scanner works a lot faster and finally it's crazily accurate with only one fingerprint scan. Any questions? Just ask me!

Attention! To get normal non laggy performance change Your resolution to 2k and then enable performance mode!!
Where did you get it? Is this the one from SamFirmware?
I still haven't figured out where that site got the beta if they haven't released it yet in Europe...
This is BTU, screenshot coming. And I can't tell yet where I got it. Sorry.
Does root work?

Oh speedy.. Nice to see You in my thread. And so far no. My friend tried to flash TWRP and somehow he fell into a bootloop. I will try to root it too and then tell You if it works! But probably it won't. We need someone like geiti94 or chainfire to get root to work.
Any screenshots of nougat?
Why would it wipe data if you flash through Odin?

CSC files wipe data starting from S7 I think.
U should be able to use HOME_CSC which will not wipe date from your previous rom. But not sure if it will work for nougat too. It should

New android and CSC change, and when changing between android versions you should always clean install, specially in a beta
Yeah, clean flash between Android versions is recommended. To avoid force closes and bugs. Did anyone download it yet? I wanna hear reviews! Posting more screenshots in the meantime
Has anyone installed this? Knox not triggered?
I want to install but I have doubts... I think I'll wait for the official OTA via the Beta Program.

What about KNOX when using S Health? Mine went to "device is comprimised" or whatever the translation is from spanish to english. What does it mean?

I did a dirty flash, first PHN (Netherlands CSC) and flashed BTU (UK CSC) and it went fine without wiping the phone.

Guess he means if it's triggered like I said when using S Health for example.
