[Resolved] Matched contact suggestion keeps popping up with same contacts

Dear all,
I have some contacts in google as well as in my Whatsapp account. Froyo automatically detects duplicates and suggests contact matches.
This is fantastic! I've checked the duplicates and then linked the Whatsapp contacts.
Pretty annoying is that it keeps notifying me of contact matches of the same contacts that I've already linked before!
I've linked them more than once and even have tried to ignore them, but nothing helped and the same contact matches keeps coming back again and again...
Does anyone had the same problem before or (even better) has a solution?

How do you manage to resolve this?
For some reason the same two WhatsApp contacts repeatedly appear in the matched contact suggestion list.

I've got the same problem. I updated WhatsApp today, so maybe that caused the problem?

Same with my HTC Desire HD. Uninstalled and reinstalled Whatsapp but the problem still exists... I am leaning towards the update as well.

This is super annoying, has it been resolved? I constantly have tried just about everyting from linking all (i think its been a hundred times already) to dismiss all, to clear notification and it just keeps popping up. I also attempted to remove the sync from whatsapp and disable the contacts sync but it keeps activating itself. I am going nuts trying to make it stop annoying me, is there any resolution?
It constantly says i have 22 matched contact suggestions. Is there an update I dont know about?

I got email from whatsapp last night confirming the problem saying it would be fixed on next update very soon . There was an update this morning to the app so I'm hoping the fix was in there.

Try linking them and then see if it goes away. I have not seen the notification come up for me since the update though I linked right before I saw there was an update

The problem still exists after the update. Now it finds more contacts than before. Pretty annoying. I love WhatsApp, it's the best way to keep in contact with my iPhone friends. Bummer.

Yep, its still happening here, but in my experience it is the exact same number as before, i always had 22-23 and I have noticed that now its popping up Much less often, once today since updating when before it was just constant. I have sent email to the whatsapp feedback team letting them know its not fully fixed yet.

I think I have the same problem, but uninstalling and installing again does not fix the problem. Any updates here?

Still happening me too (Desire HD) - in fact it's gotten noticably worse in recent weeks. Plus it seems to nag more often than it used to too. Also it tries to match people who are totally unrelated - I don't understand that at all. Like many people, I'm starting to think that, what seemed to be a cool feature, is now becoming a pain in the neck.
One thing I did notice is that if you have any Skype contact requests that you haven't accepted or blocked yet, it will keep nagging you about those. Of course, it should ignore contacts that you haven't accepted yet, so that's a bug. But we've already established that there are bugs in this app! At this stage, I'd just like to disable it.

I have the same issue on my HTC Sensation XE (Android 4.0.4 Sense 3.6).
When I first synched my contacts wirelessly from my ActiveSync Corporate email, it kept asking me if I want to link contacts. (800+)
Currently, it is asking me less often but I still have the problem. More specifically with Viber and Tango.
Is it a problem from Tango and Viber. Didnt they fix the bug like whatsapp?
Is it from Android? Sense?
If I check a contact in my address phone book for example, I have a name that got like 6 Viber linked contacts (same number) and I cannot remove them and leave only one. this is polluting the address book.
One more issue is the telephone numbers: if a contact is registered with a code country, his call is not recognized but a sms coming from him is recognized. If I remove the country code, the call will be recognized but not the sms

I agree. I've been having the same problem with viber contacts. Everyday once or twice I have a bunch of contacts, that I have already matched, suggested for matching. It's really annoying and I am considering uninstalling Viber for this reason. Did anyone find a solution?

Same here on htc chacha, viber keep prompting contacts to link and for one of the contacts I have 8 linked viber for the same number.

Words with Friends force close issue

Anyone else dying to play Words with Friends on you new Inspire but keeps getting the force close everytime you run the app? I tried rebooting and reinstalling this app but to no avail.
Running on stock rom, waiting for my extra microsd card to arrive so I can root and install custom roms.

Same issue here on custom ROM, been happening for a day or so since Words with Friends updated. Extra frustrating is the fact that the app resets itself after FC, forcing me to re-enter account info.

Good to know I'm not the only one. I hope we get an update to fix this issue soon...

Working fine here. I had issues when I did the update without un-installing it first but after I did that everything is good. I'm running CM7 if that matters.

I gave up on words with friends and went back to wordfeud. Hopefully the devs of words with friends will get it straightened out soon.

Aha! I actually tried installing the app again today and it now works. They must have fixed the issue and I'm glad they did.

Words with Friends worked for me on stock ROM since day 1. The first day I rooted and flashed Anrdoid Revolution, I installed Words with Friends and it worked fine. I've seen 1 FC from the app since I've had the phone, but all I had to do was restart the app and it loaded right back to my games

It worked for me for a little while but now it pops up with some wierd web address

Have you tried rebooting and/or installing the app?

If you are using Android Revolution(or some other custom ROMs), the hosts file blocks the ads in the app. Either revert to a non-adblocking hosts file or a different ROM.

they just had an update, uninstall words and redownload. i havnt had a fc since then. good luck

even on the latest version, I can't even play! Just force closes when I log in!

Judging by the stack trace I think something in the logon was breaking it. I saw in the stack trace that the app was trying to parse a null value as an integer, which isn't so cool.
I just set up for a packet capture -- but I'm now able to log in again and the game is working fine. Hopefully they don't break their login protocol again, and ideally they make the app a little more robust if the server sends back unexpected data.

I was also getting tons of FC's on custom roms until i ran a fix permissions in CMR. Now it works perfectly

So what do you guys suggest for those who are using unrooted, stock ROMs? Any suggestions?

I go into the apps settings and clear the cache and force close it.. this usually makes it reload the game data which takes a few min, but it works again for me for a while. I do need to tweak the hosts file blocking ads. It causes huge broken ads that make the game unplayable at times.

Yeah when wwf starts acting up again and comes up with a force close (or any bug at all!) all the time, clear your cache and data and try again. Reboot in between if you have to. If that doesn't work, try uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling again. Sometimes you just need to reboot to fix the issue is what I found out based on my phone. Hope this helps!

[Q] Recent issues with Twitter web and widget

Hello, starting about 4 or 5 days ago I've been experiencing problems with Twitter and my sensation 4g. First it was the mobile Twitter site being blank after I signed in. Still is a problem even today, after 3 factory resets I've disabled the backup restore feature to try and make sure it didn't restore anything bad. The page will work with JavaScript turned off. I'm using the default browser. Before I did the resets the htc Twitter widget would crash and sense would reload each time I started to scroll to the page with the widget. I cleared the data etc. And even after the factory resets does the same thing. The friendstream widget works at showing the Twitter feeds without a problem. Anyway I was wondering if anyone else had this problem and if there is a fix, or maybe its due to Twitter changing something to prepare for ice update ? Thanks for any help or comments.

Unlocked and rooted s3 now I have a crazy problem

I recently got the copy and paste bug for the Galaxy S Verizon. it was driving me crazy so I decided to root. I did a backup and then I attempted to fix it. The fix worked but then I had a whole other problem. Now whenever I make or receive a call, the screen goes blank and I get the error com.android.phone has stopped. Then my signal goes away and I have to reboot to get it back. I have search multiple forms and found that facebook sync can cause it, as well as some other third party apps with access to your contacts. I do not have a facebook and I have tried to unlink and unsync everything with no luck. Does anyone have any ideas?

Email exchange issues

Hi all,
Just got the nexus 5 and live everything about it except one thing, the email app. I can't tell if it's exchange services or the app itself, but "unfortunately email has stopped" keeps popping up randomly and will not stop. Another wrote thing is that the so manager will not let me wipe data (screenshot). Things I tried:
*rebooting
*deleting the apk through titanium, wiping data and reinstalling
Any ideas? I really need exchange email for work and it's driving me crazy.

Seems you screwed up something with titanium so do a factory reset and flash back to stock and test it out then and see if it all works fine. After that then do some changes slowly to see if it comes back again to narrow it down?

I have this problem with my Nexus 5 as well. It's been this way since I got it. Really, really annoying. This has been an ongoing problem for a while. I wish there was a fix....

I just wiped, flashed factory image and factory reset the phone and still getting these crashes and it is still not letting me wipe data from the app manager...
Any other suggestions? Right now, I'm going to try to delete the exchange accounts but it's not even letting me delete accounts!! I'm going to try to switch to ART to see if that helps at all, and will give an update.
Any other email clients for android that support exchange?? I'm lost at this point and I really tried everything I know before posting.

This is total stock? As if factory image?

I don't think there's much you can do to fix the problem. There are a lot of people in the same boat. If you search Google, there are several posts about the same issue. Last time I checked, there's no fix.

Yeah, factory image and it still didn't work.
I just ended up flashing twrp and cataclysm ROM and that fixed it.

Works perfect for my needs
Had battery drain issues with the stock exchange app, so I switched to Touchdown

Just an update, the new ROM solution was working for a few hours but starting to have issues again with "unfortunately email app has stopped working" errors.
I think it has to be how my exchage accounts are setup:
- One gmail account on IMAP
- 3 Exchange accounts on push notifications and sync all mails
Outside of that setup, nothing special. Anyone experiencing the same?

One last update (unless it creeps up again). I switched the syncing of emails to date back 30 days instead of "All" and that fixed the "unfortunately email has stopped" messages completely. The HTC One email client never had that issue so I assumed that wasn't the problem but I guess the email client on this phone is a bit more sensitive.

Ok, the problem crept back up again... the error message keeps coming back, and in the app manager, the "clear data" button is greyed out so you can't even start over unless you remove all the accounts.
I would like to ask anyone that has working exchange accounts (multiple) on the native email client share their setup and the app versions etc.
