I wiped my Inspire using Full Wipe 1.5 but I noticed after I flashed a new ROM that half my memory is gone. It comes with 2 gigs on board but after the flash and install it was at 800 MB...I didnt even use a third of that before I flashed it. I was only sitting at 1.7 gigs with all the same apps.
My question is will going into Clockwork and clearing the cache partition absolutely erase all the app data, user data, etc. and bring me back up to 2 gigs? While keeping the ROM and everything else intact obviously. Im going to assume that it does so, sorry for question 2 I know you should do this before flashing a new ROM but is there any danger to doing it while you're already up and running? Other than having to reinstall all your apps, etc.?

Maybe the ROM you installed takes up more ROM, some roms take up less than others. Like how an AOSP roms take less rom than Sense.
Hmm I wouldnt think so since its the stock ATT rom. Just bloatware removed, new OC Kernal, etc. I cant believe it would take up almost twice as much more space. I could be wrong though?

I would guess that perhaps the stock ROM has an issue displaying the correct amount of RAM. this is pretty common in retail ROMs.
The custom ROM you were using may have had a hack patched in to display the correct amount, or may have been RAM optimised.
If it's internal storage space you're talking about though, it's not uncommon for OEMs to 'reserve' a block of space for 'system use'.

That would be insane if that was the case. The stock rom out of the box show 1.7 gigs free after all my apps were install. I do a wipe, flash a cooked version of the stock rom and now Im down to 900 MB left? I just dont get it.
Yes Im talking about internal storage. I just wanna know where a whole gig went though this is supposed to be the ATT rom just tweeked.

That's a bit clearer I got a little confused there, sorry.
Wiping the cache wouldn't be a bad idea. The other possibility is that the ROM has set up some sort of EXT3 or 4 partition in your data space for caching and 'speed'. I've seen this done before, although usually on the external SD.
I'd wipe cache and see how you go

Alright Im back and it didnt do a thing. Maybe a factory reset/wipe in Clockwork? That wouldnt get rid of root or ROM would it? Just erase EVERYTHING else?

Yes. Im using an HTC Inspire 4g and the ROM is called the TPC Inspire 4G Stock ROM optimized. Here is the link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982963
Im thinking about maybe doing a factory reset from inside the phone, not Clockwork, to see if that gives me back the 2 gigs. If it doesnt work and Im stuck at 900 mb again after the reset Im gonna be completely stumped.

I believe it's worth PMing twopumpchump about this one, I couldn't find any mention of this issue, although I noticed the dalvik heap size has been changed and quite a few APKs have been moved around between partitions, although I doubt it would be 800MB worth.
My suggestion would be to try a factory reset first, then maybe contact twopump. Kudos to you for trying first Many wouldn't.

You're welcome mate. Factory reset won't lose you CWM or root, you will lose all user data, apps etc. though.

Didnt work...just took me to just under a gig. I just sent a message to TwoPump so we'll see what happens. I dont know why Im being so picky I mean I didnt even use half a gig even with all my apps installed and everything but I just wanna know what happend to the other gig

Not sure if this will help, or if you've done it already, but go into advanced in CWM and wipe your Dalvik cache also. See if that makes any difference.

Done that and didnt work I'm just gonna have and see what TP has to say.
I did a bit more of a search for you last night, reckon it might be to do with the sizes of your /system and /data partitions. I can't help you with that one bud, sorry see how you get on with TPC.

I was having some major issues with my nexus 5 today, so I decided to flash completely back to stock using the google factory images in fastboot. After I restarted my phone, I noticed that my phone is only displaying 16 gigs of memory available when my model is the 32 gig model. Is there any way to restore the phone back to being a 32 gig? Or a way to reformat it? Thanks!
You're going to have to go into the stock recovery and clear cache and do a factory reset

Wiping cache should fix it. Factory reset wipes cache anyhow.

Try following this guide posted in the Nexus 4 forums, posted by @El Daddy with helpful shortcut provided by @dellenrules in this post. Basically clear cache/factory reset using the stock recovery image, not a custom one. Of course, use the recovery image for the Nexus 5 instead of the Nexus 4.
Okay, I will try it and let you all know what happens! Thanks for the help! Luckily I flashed everything back to stock including recovery, so no extra steps hopefully!

I searched through here and online, and can't seem to find a solution or REASON for this to have happened, so I made an account! Woo.
I flashed my rooted, cyanogenmod running N5's modem from 4.4.4 to KOT49E and after rebooting the phone, it proudly states I have low storage, that the external storage can't be found, and then swiftkey loses its ****, google play store crashes over and over even though I've not opened it etc etc.
I've wiped the partition cache and the dalvik cache, but it's still not doing ****. I'd really like to avoid reloading a rom on there if I can help it as I've not backed up in a week or so, and I'm sure you all know how much of a ballache THAT is!
so...Thoughts?
First, your should always make a nandriod before flashing anything new.
Can you flash the same modem as you had before?

Are you using CWM recovery? CWM has a bug that reduce your storage to 250mbish size. If that is the case then switch to twrp or philz touch and do a factory reset.

A month ago i flashed my Nexus on Android L and yesterday i also rooted it.
Then a few hours later it crashes. I don't know why and I can't boot it anymore.
Today i tried to flash it new without a data loss, but the problem is that the apps run all perfectly except for that i can't save anything and could not open the galerie.
But in the settings i can see that there is a memory. Only i can't access on it.
I want the data from the memory, but i don't know how.

No unfortunately not.
I have the Total Commander
Go back to Kitkat through factory images.
its a very common issue with flashing L, your storage isnt seen because the location changed.
1. you can move everything back manually(your storage is still there, just in another location).
2. or you can flash the factory img for 444 via fastboot.

Thank you guys, but i solve the problem with the nexus root toolkit.
With this toolkit i can make a copy of all data on the phone.
After this i flashed Android L and the IMEI get also back.
Please learn to fix things manually. Toolkits are the root of all evil

My nexus 5 keeps telling me I have used 10gig out of the available 12gig even though I have no data on it, I tried reseting to factory settings but to no avail, I need help
I'm guessing that you have a 16GB model and it shows only a small amount of free space? This is a known problem after flashing, but normally a factory reset fixes it. What have you just done to discover this? Have you just flashed a new ROM?
Do a Google search for "nexus 5" missing storage and you should find the answer in XDA. I've suffered this myself, but such a long time ago that I can't remember the exact fix, and I'd rather you discovered the right way than for me to give you misleading info.

If nothing else works, you could try using fastboot commands to erase userdata. If that doesn't work, try flashing a stock ROM including the userdata.img file.
It's actually the 16gig model. I just noticed the problem yesterday, I have never flashed or rooted it before. But I'll try what you guys said and I'll give the feedback. :good:
The article I mentioned just happens to refer to the 32GB model, but I think it probably applies also to your 16GB one. Good luck - let us know if you get a result.

Okay so i finally fixed it. I had to flash cwrm on it then i wiped data/factory reset from cwrm then i rebooted and it solved it.:good:
