Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Which carrier are you with and what bands do their 3G networks operate on? The phone you have has compatibility with the following bands:
GSM (2G) 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
HSDPA (3G) 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
So you need to make sure your carrier is operating on those bands.

I have a T-Mobile Garminfone A50 in Canada.
Here's the question: the Nuvifone A50 has different specs than then USA released Garminfone a50. Namely the HSPA frequencies.
the Nuvifone A50: "Networks: HSDPA Cat 8 7.2Mbps, HSPA / WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100, GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, GPRS EDGE Class 12"
From T-Mobile USA: Networks: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, GPRS EDGE Class 12, UMTS HSPA 2100/1700, HSDPA Cat 8, 7.2 Mbps.
Looks to me as though the European Nuvifone A50 supports HSPA 850/900/1900 where the T-mobile USA one does not.
So, will rooting permit the T-Mobile phone to use the full spectrum of frequencies as the A50 does in Europe? I need the 850/1900 MHz range to get coverage where i live and i really like this phone and would rather not throw it in the garbage.
seems to me that it should be possible. i would think that they are the same phone just tmobile has locked those frequencies somehow? I'm new to the forum and hacking and would really appreciate any help/tips/tricks. basically the same question was posted by Spazmogen a year ago but i couldn't find any replies. Please help if you can! thanks
Had anybody got any further on this issue?
So far all my searches have come up with nothing certain. There is a lot of speculation about how the phones are built but that is about it. It will really suck if this phone wont handle 850 Mhz! (Au phone here btw)
Any gurus out there with more of an idea?
Infuse 4G never sold in Malaysia and Thailand officially...
Works well in Malaysia but 3G is not working in Thailand.
Anybody knows the solution ?
Should flash specific Modem ???
Thanks, guys...
1. What 3G bands are present there on the network you are on?
2. Are any of those bands present in Infuse?
Even within US, T-Mobile SIM in Infuse won't give 3G 'cos of bands incompatibility.
ic...
Will check and report here again,
Thanks, Dud...
Hello pal,
Infuse only support 3G - HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 but Thailand Providers (AIS, DTAC .. and others, I am not sure..) only support 3G / HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100..
So I think no matter what Modem you flash on Infuse, cannot use 3G in Thailand.., I think.
I also found out something weird is,
Almost every Samsung phones support HSDPA 850 /900 / 1900 / 2100 EXCEPT INFUSE 4G.
So this is because of bands incompatibility as diablo009 said...
Thailand Providers Truemove and DTAC support 3G band 850 MHz
( 3G UMTS/WCDMA , 3.75G HSPA(hsdpa)/HSPA+ )
Modem UCKL2 works fine.

First of all check if its Htc chacha or status
If Chacha :
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
If status :
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900
U see the diffrence in 3g ? i had that problem first , i wasn't sure if it was status or chacha , then it turn out to be status and in lebanon , 2100 is needed for 3g . so im running on EDGE . but don't really care. its just for chatting.

But still , it isn't such a bad thing , though the chacha isn't very good for browsing and stuff , it is good chatting ( whatsapp , messages and ... )
so 2g network is good for this thing.
hello
hello im from lebanon too and i found that my chacha doesnt work on 3g too bad for if you need to use viber or skype

hello guys!
i bought an unlocked a htc desire s from ebay. i have problem connecting on 3g internet, it stays only on edge
i live in albania and my carrier is vodafone, and of course it support 3g connection. i didn t have any problems before with another smartphone.
our carrier band are gsm 900/1900 and umta/hsdpa 2100.
i don t know what to do to fix this problem. the seller told to me that the phone is unlocked on band 2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
can someone help me plss??
I get my ATT Skyrocket from a friend last year.Phone is unlocked in Germany.I am facing a problems with signal after i install CyanogenMod 10.2,he is losing from time to time, people who calling me get message that i am unvailable, and i dont get every SMS message.I live in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a wonder is there any solutions for my problem.I am reading that can be phones radio/modem problem.Do i need to change phones baseband or radio/modem,does it supports CM 10.2 KitKat,is that causing my problems...Sorry on my bad english.Grateful.
Skyrocket has the following frequency bands:
2G NetworkGSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G NetworkHSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G NetworkLTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
After some searches I found 900/1800 MHz bands work for Bosnia so you're out of luck as far as your 3G or LTE.
You should lock the phone on 2G network and that should give you solid/uninterrupted signal.
Go to settings -> mobile networks -> Network operators
It will scan for a while keep the screen on until it finishes scanning the local networks. Choose your carrier from the list. Once it is accepted go back to Network Modes and change it to GSM.
Good luck
Please no PM's !
