[Q] blocked Australian imei ok on alternate network? - General Questions and Answers

I've searched but couldn't locate info. Can you help?
Can my blocked imei, be used on an alternate Australian provider, or is the block national for all carriers? eg: 123456789123456/2, slash 2 is appended on the end of my imei.
Bought a phone from a homeless person, to help them out, and it was a really a good idea to help out, but now the imei is blocked on my service provider, despite being ok when I tried my sim. I have the same service provider as was on the phone previously and cannot make calls. I get the message that this number is blocked on the Optus network.
I threw the original sim away and can't even locate the owner through the carrier. They don't give out info. So no chance of returning it to the original owner for a reward to recoup my losses.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Edge N915G. Phone now has root access..... Tried to manually update the IMEI, back to the original without the /2 appended to the end, but unable to get any of the programs, or terminal emulator codes to work with this latest model. Seems that it's a bit of a problem.
Don't have money to spare (gave it to the homeless), to try out an alternate provider and find it's not working, so your knowledge and help is appreciated.
Back to my original question, can anyone help?

I think, if an IMEI number is blocked, it is blocked throughout the country in all network providers.
To be on the safer side, just change the IMEI number of the phone.
Though this is illegal, you can do it the right way by using the IMEI number of any of your old phone.
This app can help you do it: http://apkapkapk.com/download/com.yahoo.dr.ketan.efsnsgn4pro

My phone may be black listed soon, what'next? (IMEI ID LOCK)

Hi all,
I have a SPV3000 from my work and I lost it for a while so I mentionned it to my manager who is going to state it to Orange to get it blacklisted.
The thing is, after a couple of weeks, I have just found my phone again!
I am not feeling I should mention it again to my boss as it sounds really ridiculous and he was kind enough not to argue on the loss. But well, now I have a phone fully working which IMEI code will soon be blacklisted by the 3 main operators in France running a common database on the subject (in case of phones stolen). I may send my phone to a friend abroad who will certainly be able to use it there but is there any tricky solution to be able to use it in France?
What is this IMEI code exactly and how does it work?
BE SURE I AGREE WITH THE IDEA OF BLACK LISTS TO AVOID SO COMMON AGGRESSIONS JUST FOR PHONES...
You may send me private posts in case you are reluctant to have this kind of information largely communicated.
Hi marcel06!
IMEI is kind of like a serial number which your cell company sees.
If you haven't noticed, there is a wiki link under the word for details.
There are no tricks when it comes to IMEI. There are ways of changing it, but that is illegal in most countries.
Because IMEI identifies your phone, thieves could change their phone IMEI to match yours so you would pay for calls made from other phone.
If you really want to use the phone again, you should report that it was found so they won't blacklist you.

Oh.. no. I'm not sure about those pre-SIM period phone. But I'm definately sure that now, for phones that are using SIM cards, you are not able to charge to others account using IMEI. The controlling mech is the SIM card, the billing information is in the card, not the phone. But the operator will have the power (as I've heard) to disable/track phone by IMEI.

[Q] help with GT N7000 00499 imei problem?

Hello
new on here, and hoping someone can point me in the right direction please - I think my phone has developed an issue with it's IMEI, it will no longer register on any networks to make calls or send texts, although 3g internet works. It is a galaxy Note GT N7000 on android 4.1.2 and seems to have a generic 00499 IMEI number. I live in the UK
I've had the phone since new with my contract. I wondered if something happened after the last android update, or whether it has developed another issue. I didn't want to renew my contract, so when it expired I started using a PAYG SIM, and that has been fine for the last 3 weeks so I don't think my phone is locked. The SIM works in other phones so there is credit and network coverage.
It is unmodified, and I have never rooted the device, or installed any custom software. I read online that that automatic updates can sometimes cause Galaxy phones problems resulting in a default IMEI number. As I have only installed automatic updates through KIES and via my previous mobile network, I wondered if this has caused a preoblem, of if the phone is blocked!?
I would send it for repair but I don't live near any repairs shops :crying: I don't want to change the IMEI just restore it to what is on the label if that will fix the 'not registered on network' problem.
If it means buying a new mobile, then I'm happy to learn something new to try to repair it....just where to start?
thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Revert back to verizon from tmobile

Purchased an HTC M8 from a friend that seems like was flashed to T-mobile. I tried everything and various roms (revolution, viper, bonestock) and the stock vzw RUU to get the phone back to verizon. The APN file is still showing all t-mobile files in it.
Also if I go into settings>Network preference: It shows all european networks ie: vodafone UK ,Claro dom,JP DOCOMO, all GSM/UMTS.
I called verizon to verify the IMEI and sim and they both checked out to be verizon, so I know its a verizon phone. Has the VZW logo on the back also.
I cannot make calls or get any internet connection with it. Tried changing all of the network settings, replaced the sim card and so far no go. Can anyone point me in the right direction for some help.I have searching and tried various procedures for the past 2 days without any luck.
Strange thing is the 4G icon is there and when i try to connect to the internet the bars below it become active but I always get the same message: Cannot connect to the internet.
The phone is rooted, TWRP, S-off and CID 11111111 also.
Thanks for any help !

Check your IMEI number, settings>about>status http://swappa.com/esn use this site to see if its bad or not. If it is, the phone was probably reported stolen or the person who bought it didn't pay the monthly amount for the phone, so Verizon would have blacklisted it
I called verizon and first verified that is was indeed a verizon phone which it is and it is ok to be activated. I took it to the store an they tried a new sim card but it did not work. No phone calls or data
No matter what RUU or rom i tried flashing when I check the apns-conf.xml file in System>etc it always ends up having T-mobile settings in there.
I have it rooted, S-off, SuperCID11111111, and nothing has worked so far. Very frustrated as I have been working on it going on 3 days. But not all is lost. I have have learned a lot trying to get it fixed. I just might end up sending it in to HTCand have them fix it. Sure would suck to have a $400 paper weight
Thanks for the reply..
At boot time, Android determines the correct network configuration based on the MCC and MNC from the SIM card and automatically configure all network settings.
I have a verizon HTC One M8 (had my imei verified at a verizon store and esn was clean) with a new sim card and yet all of the files in my system>etc>apns-config.xml file are showing T-mobile.
Also in settings>Network Preference>all of the carriers are coming up vodafone, CLARO DOM, JP DOCOMO Swisscom and they are all GSM/UMTS.
Does anyone know why its not loading the proper files from my sims MCC and MNC ? This has been driving me crazy for the past 3 days trying to figure this out.
I flashed stock RUU and am s-off, unlocked, Super CID 11111111. Have no idea what is causing this.Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be GREATLY appreciated.
Well, Sent it in for repair. Told the Customer rep the phone was roooted, Rom'ed, CID'ed and that I never got to activate it.
So just waiting to see what happens and will post when I find out the verdict.
BTW, they could tell when I gave them the IMEI the day that the phone was rooted. Is that possible ? Sure came as a surprise to me. Gave the lady the IMEI # and after about 1 minute she came back on and told me the phone was rooted on May 1st. I have no idea if that is true because I have only had the phone for 1 week now.

rooted sprint samsung galaxy s3 phone??

hi i have a samsung galaxy s3 from sprint, rooted. My question is where/how do i find the "network & mobile network state" folder or file? the reason is cuz i would like to connect the phone to a prepaid or other carrier and i think deleting those files will allow me to do so, (PLEASE correct me if wrong)....
OR better question is how can i get the phone connected on a different carrier?
Can i or do i have to erase, change or clear any of the following; MEID, DEC, HEX#'s or IMEI & ICCID to do so? I Rooted the phone with a custom ROM (CM). Some say sprint will give me a certain number but my service was cut yrs ago so i doubt they would help being that i owe them $.. and is rooting same as unlocking?
THANK YOU

im not going to be of much help with most of that but,
you defiantly dont want to remove the imei or related items, or the phone wont work on any carrier.
if this is the phone you were using when you stopped paying them, it may be blacklisted, and wont work on any carrier.
best option would be to browse the s3 forums and see how others are switching carriers.
some phones its as simple as changing the sim, others require more steps such as carrier unlocking and possibly more depending on the situation. and in some instances you cant change to the carrier you want because the phone doesnt support the necessary bands.

I want to change my First Phones IMEI with my Second Phones one.

I try to explain my problem as short and as informatical as possible.
I have a Sony Z3 which i bought in Germany 2 years ago, now i live in Turkey and my phoes IMEI got blocked from cellular access because if you want to use a Phone bought in a foreign country you have to pay something like a activation fee.
I also have a Sony xperia U which is much older but which i did buy in turkey.
Normaly foreign phones get blocked within 2 Months, i did use mine for 7 months now becasue i did put the Xperia U´s IMEI inside inside my Z3 with the "IMEI changer Pro" app. But somehow doesnt work anymore if i change the Imei to my xperia U´s imei, i do get network and even 3g, but cant do calls or recive calls, i get the "no network" error.
I did some digging and tought i have to change my IMEI in a more permanent way and found the program "MDKdroidTools" where you can change your imei, everything went well i even got the green box but the option to click on "IMEI/NVRAM" is always greyd out.
In very short i want to use my Z3 with my xperia U´s IMEI, and need assistance doing so.
Would be really great if someone has some tips for me. Thanks in advance.
