[Q] help with GT N7000 00499 imei problem? - General Questions and Answers

Hello
new on here, and hoping someone can point me in the right direction please - I think my phone has developed an issue with it's IMEI, it will no longer register on any networks to make calls or send texts, although 3g internet works. It is a galaxy Note GT N7000 on android 4.1.2 and seems to have a generic 00499 IMEI number. I live in the UK
I've had the phone since new with my contract. I wondered if something happened after the last android update, or whether it has developed another issue. I didn't want to renew my contract, so when it expired I started using a PAYG SIM, and that has been fine for the last 3 weeks so I don't think my phone is locked. The SIM works in other phones so there is credit and network coverage.
It is unmodified, and I have never rooted the device, or installed any custom software. I read online that that automatic updates can sometimes cause Galaxy phones problems resulting in a default IMEI number. As I have only installed automatic updates through KIES and via my previous mobile network, I wondered if this has caused a preoblem, of if the phone is blocked!?
I would send it for repair but I don't live near any repairs shops :crying: I don't want to change the IMEI just restore it to what is on the label if that will fix the 'not registered on network' problem.
If it means buying a new mobile, then I'm happy to learn something new to try to repair it....just where to start?
thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:

[Q] IMEI

I recently got my phone back from the repair shop. I noticed that my IMEI was changed to 000000000000000. So far, I don't have problems connecting to both of my sims network as well as wifi. I am not tech savvy so, I am not sure if this will create problems for me in the future. If it will, what I can do to get my IMEI back if that's possible? am using a Samsung Galaxy Y duos. I apologized if there's a thread like this before. I am new to this forum. Thank you.

verizon s6 on belgian network

Hello! I'm studying in Brussels for a year, and brought my verzion galaxy s6 to use, because some preliminary research led me to believe that it would work on the networks here. I got a sim card yesterday on the BASE network, and so far, have been able to make and receive texts/calls, but have been unable to use mobile data. Also the "activating your phone, dont turn off message" was up for the last 24 hours. I ended up restarting a few times, and the activating message is gone, but still no data.
I was wondering, if someone more knowledgeable than me, could tell me based off the BASE bands, if the problem has to do with network compatibility.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Base_(mobile_telephony_provider)
If it's not a network connection issue, then ill try my luck with BASE tech support (My french isnt great, so I want to make sure it's not my fault before trying to go down that road)
Thanks for the help!!
Fixed the problem. Turns out the galaxy s6 along with some other phones, requires manual configuration in order to enable mobile data.
if anyone has this issue in the future

Please Help - T Mobile Galaxy S5 Signal Problems in India SIM

Hi,
I have an unlocked T-Mobile Galaxy S5 which I purchased in USA. After back to India and started using India SIM, often I get signal problems and only in streets or public area I get full signals. In office or home it says "No service" or "Searching". When I read articles and forums, I came to know that certain frequencies might be locked and I need to enable it. But I am not a developer or techie guy to root my device and perform it. Is there any alternative way to solve this issue? I am trying to resolve this but could not. I tried getting my phone to a authorized service centers. But they are about to charge huge money to check and fix it.
Appreciate anybody's help.

Muthu

Samsung G925-F repair - Emergency calls only

Hi everyone,
Few months ago, I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE sealed, nobrand, simfree from a shop here in Italy
After few weeks the phoned stop working only in the telephonic part (Emergency calls only - Not registered on the network) because the Italian operator Postemobile blacklisted the IMEI code for theft
(Evidently the phone had got outlaw origin and the shop cheated me; the IMEI results as blacklisted)
I brought back the phone to the shop and they, without giving me any advice, rooted the phone and changed the IMEI code, to make the phone work again
I got the phone back working, keeping android5, with root, different IMEI and different kernel (called "S6_UniBase_NOg8_v2 glthedingo # 1")
At the moment, the electronic IMEI code of the phone is different from the one wrote on the box
The phone kept working since, when Android 6 went out, I wanted to update the phone (the phone couldn't be uploaded with root) and to remove the root
I flashed the Android 6.0.2 firmware with Odin3; the updating was successful
Since the moment i updated to Android6, the phone stopped working with the telephone part (Emergency calls only - Not registered on the network)
One minute before i did the update telephone calls were working and after the update telephone calls didn't work anymore
I can't understand why the telephone stopped working
(Maybe the changing of IMEI code need any modifications to work and updating the phone i lost these modifications)
- How can I get phone calls work again?
Thanks

You should have backed up your old firmware in case something happens. (and it happened)
Anyways, you sure you flashed the correct firmware for your region? If so, try using Smart Switch.

No Cellular Service

Hi,
I bought the phone about a year ago, secondhand from the local ecommerce. The phone still had android 10 so I updated it to 11. It was fine, until a few months later when it started to lose cell service. It could be solved by turning airplane mode on-off or restarting the device back then, but now I can't get service at all.
Pixels isn't officially sold in Indonesia, and it was most likely bought in Japan. I can see the "osaifu keitai" app but also a load of Verizon-related apps/activities. I'm not sure if this is a locked phone, not only because I've unlocked the bootloader easily (like a regular phone), but I also only have "Sim 1 not allowed" or "Phone not allowed for voice" notifications instead of "Contact Verizon" or something like that.
Here's the thing though, I can't get service with almost all major carriers here (Telkomsel, Indosat, XL), but I can with Smartfren, even surf the internet with LTE, but still can't make a call or dial USSD codes. I have done this guide, also manually select a network from settings, 4636, even locked freq band with Network Signal Guru, still no luck and I'm out of ideas now. Whether it's the official build from Google or rooted LineageOS (what I use now), it's always the same.
Please help. Thanks in advance.
Hope I'm not too late to reply.
Hi, I'm currently using Pixel 3a XL that i bought around 4 months ago, "blackmarket" phone is banned in Indonesia so this tend to happen. Government blocks the "blackmarket" phone's IMEI because the IMEI in our phone is made by "injection" or sort (yeah, your provider is connected to your IMEI code, i don't know how it works) and that is illegal because we don't pay tax for the phone. In my experience of buying "blackmarket" phone, i had to send my IMEI image to the seller as for "warranty" purpose, if that didn't happen to you when you were buying the phone, it's better to use third party store to restore/inject new IMEI, don't forget to move/backup your data before doing it.
