Hi everyone, I just made this simple tweak and wanted to share it.
I know there are other modified files out there but I noticed that they just modify the HEADPHONES and the SPEAKER volumes. With this one you'll get the boost into your HANDSET (in call voice), AUX, HEADPHONES (and HEADSETS of course), SPEAKER and HEADPHONES ADVANCED (wich I believe is the bluetooth headset)
I've set the values as following, to provide a perfect audio experience for you all, that maintains the PERFECT sound quality of this phone but at much more higher volumes.
If you want to go ahead and raise the values, you'll lose sound quality due to the extreme volume:
SPEAKER= 64
HANDSET= 62
HEADPHONES AND HEADSETS= 64
HEADPHONES ADVANCED (Bluetooth I think?)= 64
AUX= 64
With these values, my Razer headset shakes like crazy and my 8" sub at 40% volume makes my windows cry
I'm still looking for a fix with the AUX "weird sounds and clicks" that everyone has with their G3 but as long as there's sound coming out of the AUX cable, there's no problem at all.
Here's the file:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxxVfj_H_QSRVG5ROUxBb0FTSm8/edit?usp=docslist_api
Just navigate to /device_ /etc_ and replace the file, then change permissions to "RW_R_R" and reboot, done.
This should also work on AOSP roms
Enjoy your insane loud volume
Just flashed it in g3 32gb stock rom and it perfect thanks bro awesome mod. Sound is way better and no distortion at all
Installed on my D855 and it worked! Thanks man. I tried to max the volume up and I believe a part of my ear was destroyed. Haha.
Just navigate to /device_ /etc_ and replace the file, then change permissions to "RW_R_R" and reboot, done.

Go to your file manager and go to "/device", then "/etc" folder and copy and paste my file, you have to be rooted though and then you can change permissions to RW_R_R, reboot your device and you're good to go
Hi.. i renamed the permission folder..but didnt modified the xml file....and on reboot i am stuck on only a led light blinking..no screen

This only works on D855 as said in the title... And you have to copy and paste the file and change it's permissions, nothing else, I don't know why it doesn't work on your variant, sorry

Problem
Hello, I replaced the file and indeed I got higher volume in headphones. But I don't have volume anymore in my speaker
And the stock mixer path didn't fix the problem.
PS: I'm running AOSP Resurrection ROM Lollipop
Thank for the help

Did you changed permissions? What is your android version? Can you check if you have a file called "mixer_paths_qcwcn.xml"? If so, I can upload that file and you can replace it

Will changing values in this app cause an ota to fail? OTA fails when manually making the edits. And if yes, does the ota then work after using the restore values option?
I already bricked my phone once playing with these files too much, so never again. Hope this app makes it easier and still won't block ota if i restore values
Great work mate !!!!
works amazing :good:
thx
Can someone please reupload the file?

hey guys i have made and tested some boot audios for the p6200 and the p6210 they all work and are reformatted to work with the booting up of the tab
NOTE: I am not responsibly for the bricking of your tab or nuclear war so don't have a go at me if you mess it up haha
REQUIREMENT: you must have root to make this work or you could end up in a messy situation haha i say could i mean i don't know what will happen if you are not rooted.
oh i will add more so just hold on a bit
Hey so basically i use cwm to flash the zip files? Am on DXKL3 Malaysia firmware rooted with cwm.

thanks man ur awesome
How about a silent boot sound? Or is there a way to turn off the boot sound without turning the system volume to zero?
rename poweron.wav or delete it. recommend renaming in /system/etc/
boot logos,: Im guessing from my experience so far they are going to be in param.lfs and/or C-header code format in kernel. both are nearly impossible to change and will take a lot of work but can be done.
I will probably look more into this in the coming week. There very well may be one in each location I mentioned. Images will likely not be able to be much bigger than stock, which probably isnt much.
the one in the kernel will not be easily changeable for each person , where as hopefully a hex edit hack would allow us to change the one in param.lfs with root explorer on the fly.
I already searched param.lfs for logo.jpg(common for samsung) and came up empty.
Next I will try a script for extracting images from param.lfs
Happy Hacking!!

lol... record a silent sound in media recorder...
here.. silent for you... in surround...
oh btw... the file name is 1_Power_on.ogg or wav
thanks, yeah I knew the name wasn't exact, just typing from memory. Should have been able to find it.
Dazed and confused...
OK there is a very high likely hood that I am doing something highly stupid but I gotta ask why this isn't working for me.
I have a P6210 that is rooted. In CWM I go to the "Install zip from sd card" then choose either "choose zip from sdcard" or "choose zip from internal scard" depending whether I want to chose a zip from the internal or external sd card. I then choose the appropriate zip and away I go correct?
If that is the case for some strange reason this isn't working. I would really like to use the silent boot because I hate the stock boot up tones.
This is the output when I select any zip to install from this thread:
-- Installing: /sdcard/silent_boot.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Reverting back to stock.
Wiping dalvik cache.

hmmm... yup that not working... use root explorer and try go to root system/etc and rename the 1_Power_on files to something else... and see if its working
btw i re-create the files... try this
I'm fairly new to the xda community... So I'm hoping this works for others like it worked for me. I tried about 20 different modded phone apks that were supposedly designed to work for 160dpi setting on AOKP and CM9 roms and I was just about to give up when I stumbled across one that actually works!!! Directions are pretty simple...
1. Download phone.apk file from below
2. move to root of sd card
3. In root explorer (or any file browser with root access) go to /system/app and rename original phone.apk to phone.apk.bak
4. Copy and paste new phone.apk in /system/app
5. Reboot phone and enjoy
No need to change app permissions to -rw-r--r--
UPDATE!!!! For those of you that prefer a flashable zip, Mr. Apocalypse was kind enough to upload one in post #12 of this thread
If you run into any problems let me know and I'll try to help with troubleshooting.

It replaces the stock phone app... The stock phone app will crash on any LCD density below 200 dpi. This modded phone app will run on the lower densities so you can use the 160 dpi setting and still be able to make/receive phone calls without a FC error.

It's nothing major... Just a fix for a force close error when using the phone app on different LCD densities. A lot of ppl like the look of 160 dpi and 128 dpi (tablet mode) but you lose call functionality as a consequence... This fixes that issue.
Also... If you decide to return the phone to stock LCD density there's no need to revert back to the old phone apk... This one will work in all densities from 128-240 dpi. (I haven't tried anything larger than 240 yet... IDK why anyone would though )
Ah, okay got it..

thankyou so much! fixed my issue wondered why it kept crashing when it was lower than 200 lol
I'll try it out. That FC pop up gets annoyings as stopping and clearing data after every reboot gets annoying lol.
Does this permanently replace the stock phone apk?
I can't get anything to work. Not the rename, not the copy and past. Nothing.

Make sure the /system folder is mounted as read/write before you do this... If your file explorer app doesn't have the option to give you root access you can mount /system by using terminal emulator.
Use the following commands:
su
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system

Didn't find any working package so I started browsing the Android source.
I think I found the root of this problem:
https://github.com/AOKP/packages_apps_Phone/blob/ics/res/layout/incall_touch_ui.xml#L52
Code:
<!--
(1) incomingCallWidget: the UI displayed while an incoming call is ringing.
See InCallTouchUi.showIncomingCallWidget().
Layout notes:
- Use an opaque black background since we need to cover up
a bit of the bottom of the contact photo
- The verticalOffset value gets us a little extra space above
the topmost "Respond by SMS" icon
- [b]The negative layout_marginBottom shifts us slightly downward;
we're already aligned with the bottom of the screen, but we
don't have an icon in the downward direction so the whole
bottom area of this widget is just wasted space.[/b]
-->
<com.android.internal.widget.multiwaveview.MultiWaveView
android:id="@+id/incomingCallWidget"
android:layout_width="match_parent"
android:layout_height="wrap_content"
android:layout_alignParentBottom="true"
[b]android:layout_marginBottom="-46dp"[/b]
android:background="@android:color/black"
android:visibility="gone"
I guess this -46dp is too much and needs to be lowered a bit.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to add sound to boot I have looked and tried everywhere but can't find anything oh and can you change the splash screen
There is a few steps you will have to do first.
1. Root the device. I believe you have to be root to change the boot animation.
2. Install custom recovery.
3. find a boot animation you want to use by making one yourself or looking in the theme threads.
look in the development section to earn the process of getting root and custom recovery.

Then you'll need to create a poweron.ogg Samsung stock rom supports boot sound, not sure of others. The file on my device is located at system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg Not sure, but some devices/roms set it in system/etc Since this device/manufacturer is new to me so, I can't give comprehensive advice other than search xda.

This is a general CM9 question, I think, rather than a Tab 2 question. CM9 by default doesn't have a boot sound. I don't know if one can be added, but I'd try looking generally for how to add a boot sound in CyanogenMod ROMs rather than specifically for the Tab 2.
(Oh, and if you manage it, you'll be pleased with the boot sound for a week or so and then get annoyed with it and remove it again...)

If you are running stock 4.1.1, you can disable (or enable) both the power-off and power-on sounds in the dialog box that pops up when you power-off the device. Just select the sound before you press Power-off or Restart.
Edit: Oops, the result applies to all sounds until you change it (eg, after the next boot). So, I've renamed the PowerOn/Off.ogg files.

Yes, I did, and many times (in a G2 and in a G Pro2). And before do it I had two softbriks. When you edit the file and save it, you can see that the permissions have changed to "-rw-rw----". You must reset them to: "-rw-r--r--". If you don't dont it and reboot: softbrik assured.
There is an app in market called Equaliser.

The way i have been able to edit mine is booting into recovery, mounting system, using ADB to pull it, edit it then push it back and set permissions.
I cant figure out which lines i need to amend to increase the speaker and headphone volumes though. What i change seems to have no effect and if i change to much it ends in a bootloop.
Any ideas?
