I was wondering if anyone knew how to add sound to boot I have looked and tried everywhere but can't find anything oh and can you change the splash screen
There is a few steps you will have to do first.
1. Root the device. I believe you have to be root to change the boot animation.
2. Install custom recovery.
3. find a boot animation you want to use by making one yourself or looking in the theme threads.
look in the development section to earn the process of getting root and custom recovery.

I would do a search for system boot sound ogg or similar. Not sure, but it's probably something to do with changes to system/media and a sound ogg file. Animations are changed by changeing*/system/media/bootanimation.zip

Then you'll need to create a poweron.ogg Samsung stock rom supports boot sound, not sure of others. The file on my device is located at system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg Not sure, but some devices/roms set it in system/etc Since this device/manufacturer is new to me so, I can't give comprehensive advice other than search xda.

This is a general CM9 question, I think, rather than a Tab 2 question. CM9 by default doesn't have a boot sound. I don't know if one can be added, but I'd try looking generally for how to add a boot sound in CyanogenMod ROMs rather than specifically for the Tab 2.
(Oh, and if you manage it, you'll be pleased with the boot sound for a week or so and then get annoyed with it and remove it again...)

If you are running stock 4.1.1, you can disable (or enable) both the power-off and power-on sounds in the dialog box that pops up when you power-off the device. Just select the sound before you press Power-off or Restart.
Edit: Oops, the result applies to all sounds until you change it (eg, after the next boot). So, I've renamed the PowerOn/Off.ogg files.

Instructions for CWM:
Put GB_S2_Boot-and-Shutdown.zip on the root of your SD card
Power off your phone
Hold Volume Up & Volume Down while pressing the power button to enter CWM
Choose "Install zip from sd card"
Choose "Choose zip to install"
Select GB_S2_Boot-and-Shutdown.zip
Confirm selection
Choose "***go back***"
Choose "reboot phone"
Enjoy new animations!
If, for some really strange reason you're *not* running drhonk's amazing KG4 kernel w/red cwm & ext4 support, then you will need to remount /system as read/write, push the contents of /system from the zip file to /system on your phone, and then make sure all the files have the right permissions (644 or 0644).

In a terminal or adb shell, the command is chmod
Code:
# chmod 644 /system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
You'll have to remount /system as read/write first, though (I use root explorer for such things). Did you try just re-flashing the zip, first?
thanks it worked great! Didn't like that it actually says SGS II, but other than that it's a good boot animation... better than stock pink gay one.

Yeah, what he said If you pull apart the .zip file I have here, you can easily push all of these files to their appropriate places, yourself.
It's worth mentioning, though, that the shutdown file in my zip won't work with your phone, as you're not running gingerbread. The shutdown animation for Froyo is actually a series of .png images, a configuration file, and a .ogg sound file.... There are at least two threads on these forums that explain how to replace the froyo shutdown animation with the one from the stock Galaxy S

I do not have the file /system/etc/init.local.rc but init.glodfish.sh in which the bootanimation is mentioned. Some other way to get bootsound running?

The M logo is drawn by the bootloader, which cannot be swapped out on a Milestone due to Motorola's code-signing checks.
While the boot logo is indeed drawn by the bootloader, it's actually stored in mtd block whose signature is not checked.
See this tool by Skrilax_CZ: http://modmymobile.com/forums/555-m...s/559148-tool-milestone-custom-boot-logo.html
The tool and my current bootlogo is attached (a bit morbid, I know - it's a picture of a drowned doll, accidentally found in Terezin after the 2002 floods).
Kabaldan did it for me ;]
you must remeber that the picture must be 480x182.
And first, read more and speak up then
I attached my own bootlogo

As always, you rock. I knew the bootloader couldn't be changed, I didn't know that the boot-logo was stored elsewhere though.
..... I wonder if we can somehow use an "invalid" boot logo to redirect the bootloader into loading unsigned code? Hmm... lol
Hi I got a wird problem that I would like to be help with please.
I have The Infuse 4G by Rogers
My phone is rooted
I Run the DarkyROM v10.4 XWJW1
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
I have a (#) showing up in the notification bar saying that my SU executable is obselete (2.3.1) and that I must update to (3.0.3.2)
I launch the update, everything is fine and green without any bug.
Then I update again and it tell me i'm on (3.0.3.2) so it's cool. But when I reboot, I get the same message that i'm on 2.3.1 and must uptade to 3.0.3.2, and it goes on and on and on like this forever....
So is there something I can do to permanently Update it to 3.0.3.2?
I don't know if it will help but Also, when I use DarkyOTA to change the boot animation, it change the sound but whatever i do (including clear cache) does not change the anim logo that is the annoying SGS boot anim.... maybe both are due to the same problem. anyway let me know if there is something.

Where can i find it? I mean a compatible one with infuse
Two things.
1.
Go to market download install busybox, run it. It should tell you that you got a successful unique install.
Then update superuser in market.
Then update binary inside su.
2.
Bootanimation.
Its located in system/media
The new one you'd like to use make 2 copies and name them
"bootanimation.zip" and "sanim.zip"
Place both copies in the location I said.
Reboot.
"I wish I had more than 1 Infuse."

Here ya go.
Yes, and if my previous post doesn't fix the SU issue, flash the suFix TruckerGlenn posted above and try it again. I always flash the suFix after I install any rom.
And slap his "Thanks" button.
its the hellraiser/infusion kernel replacing it. use entropy's latest.
the bootanimation is likely the wrong name. if you use infusion kernel find bottanimation.zip and name it sanim.zip.
if you use hellrsiser or entropy then it may be that darky rom uses Sanim.zip on the i9000 kernel rename it bootanimation.zip.

I tried to get a conversation going and he does answer pm's on the rare occasio he visits xda but he would just rant about the idiot cappy devs and point me to threads. I wanted to know about what he did specifically but never got an answer on that. I'd try to patch it into froyo with my brothers help if he had it up on github but the thread for that kernel was closed by a mod after supercurio complained about the sources not being available. he never made a github repo and never really showed in the cappy section after that. good dev, but had other things going on and lost interest in xda.

First i've successfully flashed the voodoo kernel and since then, Su is working (stay updated now) so big thanx for that.
Now for Bootanimation,
I've added my bootanimation.zip and copy/paste/rename it as sanim.zip on system/media (where battery charging pictures are located) reboot and clear cache. BUT STILL HAVE THAT BORING SGS STOCK LOGO.....
I saw files in that folder (bootsamsung.qmg boitsamsungloop.qmg disconnected.qmg) is those file could interfere with the zip? I mean, are they what infuse read at boot?
Will it do serious damage if i delete them?

UPDATE:
I've tried to rename the samsungboot.qmg and samsungloop.qmg
Then reboot.
The only thing it does was to have no boot animation at startup. So even without those files and with bootanimation.zip and sanim.zip in the folder I can't get the boot anim working....
Curious thing is that i flashed a first time darky and it worked. Messed up the phone, used ultimate unbrick, flashed back to rogers stock rom then flashed the rooted kernel then flashed back to darky and since, no boot anim.....

If you're seeing your custom boot animation, stop there.
I'm not sure about replacement files for the qmg.
If you delete them, and you get a black screen, it would be harder to tell if you've boot looped.
if you get this screen logo repeatedly, it's time to restore a stock image.

How about a silent boot sound? Or is there a way to turn off the boot sound without turning the system volume to zero?
rename poweron.wav or delete it. recommend renaming in /system/etc/
boot logos,: Im guessing from my experience so far they are going to be in param.lfs and/or C-header code format in kernel. both are nearly impossible to change and will take a lot of work but can be done.
I will probably look more into this in the coming week. There very well may be one in each location I mentioned. Images will likely not be able to be much bigger than stock, which probably isnt much.
the one in the kernel will not be easily changeable for each person , where as hopefully a hex edit hack would allow us to change the one in param.lfs with root explorer on the fly.
I already searched param.lfs for logo.jpg(common for samsung) and came up empty.
Next I will try a script for extracting images from param.lfs
Happy Hacking!!

OK there is a very high likely hood that I am doing something highly stupid but I gotta ask why this isn't working for me.
I have a P6210 that is rooted. In CWM I go to the "Install zip from sd card" then choose either "choose zip from sdcard" or "choose zip from internal scard" depending whether I want to chose a zip from the internal or external sd card. I then choose the appropriate zip and away I go correct?
If that is the case for some strange reason this isn't working. I would really like to use the silent boot because I hate the stock boot up tones.
This is the output when I select any zip to install from this thread:
-- Installing: /sdcard/silent_boot.zip
Finding update package...

Reverting back to stock.
Wiping dalvik cache.

hmmm... yup that not working... use root explorer and try go to root system/etc and rename the 1_Power_on files to something else... and see if its working
btw i re-create the files... try this

Although I'm rooted and using the Tried & True method of renaming the stock animation to ".bak" and replacing it with the Nougat (or any other for that matter) animation (as well as setting permissions) does not work.. It's as if MetroPCS has a "fallback" boot animation hidden somewhere..

And where can you find boot animations to flash for the lg Stylo 3 plus?
Can someone give detailed instructions on how to do this because I've tried myself I went to system/Op but really don't know what to select from there and exactly what to do. I was going to use the Jay rummy app boot animations to change the animation but I keep getting an error. Please give thanks
I decided to mess around with this a bit tonight on my MetroPCS Stylo 3 Plus (MP450), i assume the t-mobile version will be same/similar
(Root required, obviously)
Now hop into your root browser (any root browser should be fine)
(Optional but recommended)Firstly, get ROM Toolbox Lite, go to the interface tab, tap the bootanimation button. Go to top right 3 dots for options, create backup. This way if you decide not to use custom anymore youll be able to go back stock without having to reflash firmware and losing root ect..
I found that there are 3 locations for boot animations.
The one most know of is the standard /system/media
Delete the bootanimation.zip out of there.
Then we have another in /system/OP/MPCS_US/poweron
Delete that bootanimation.zip also.
Now with that done, on boot it should default to the 3rd i have not seen mentioned yet, /data/local which will simply display an image of the word android.
Now, get yourself back into ROM Toolbox Lite.
Under the interface tab, you will see boot animations. Go ahead on into that. Now you will have access to many different boot animations. I find the ones labeled with tablet seem to come in best resolution. Click one. Youll see an option to resize. Tap that. Resize to 1080x1789.
Now normally when trying to use this app to load a boot animation, it would default to /system/media, which of course would fail on this phone because of the /system/OP/poweron copy we normally would have to go into a root browser and copy/paste our /system/media bootanimation.zip to the OP/poweron. BUT, we deleted both of those. So now the toolbox app defaults to /data/local, our last remaining location.
Tap install on your 1080x1789 resized choice of boot animation, and after toast for super user permission shows, feel free to reboot.
*note* i have found a few of these boot animations simply do not work. Still working on the why, and work arounds for those ones with issues, but for the most-part you should be all set with this.
This method of deleting both /system bootanimation.zip is merely to force it to boot from /data/local on boot, and to make the toolkit to default to that location, this way you save the step of having to go in root browser and copy/paste every time you change your boot animation.
Hope it helps. Thank me if it works out for you
They probably don't work because of resolution. I used to be mad into this
