Superuser SU executable update to 3.0.3.2 but goes back to 2.3.1 after reboot HELP - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi I got a wird problem that I would like to be help with please.
I have The Infuse 4G by Rogers
My phone is rooted
I Run the DarkyROM v10.4 XWJW1
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I997RUXKG3-CL366622
I have a (#) showing up in the notification bar saying that my SU executable is obselete (2.3.1) and that I must update to (3.0.3.2)
I launch the update, everything is fine and green without any bug.
Then I update again and it tell me i'm on (3.0.3.2) so it's cool. But when I reboot, I get the same message that i'm on 2.3.1 and must uptade to 3.0.3.2, and it goes on and on and on like this forever....
So is there something I can do to permanently Update it to 3.0.3.2?
I don't know if it will help but Also, when I use DarkyOTA to change the boot animation, it change the sound but whatever i do (including clear cache) does not change the anim logo that is the annoying SGS boot anim.... maybe both are due to the same problem. anyway let me know if there is something.

its the voodoo kernel. entropy took root out foe this reason so use his latest build.

I think that the lastest binary is 3.0.5. Flashing that from recovery should fix your problem.

Where can i find it? I mean a compatible one with infuse

Two things.
1.
Go to market download install busybox, run it. It should tell you that you got a successful unique install.
Then update superuser in market.
Then update binary inside su.
2.
Bootanimation.
Its located in system/media
The new one you'd like to use make 2 copies and name them
"bootanimation.zip" and "sanim.zip"
Place both copies in the location I said.
Reboot.
"I wish I had more than 1 Infuse."

Here ya go.

Yes, and if my previous post doesn't fix the SU issue, flash the suFix TruckerGlenn posted above and try it again. I always flash the suFix after I install any rom.
And slap his "Thanks" button.

its the hellraiser/infusion kernel replacing it. use entropy's latest.
the bootanimation is likely the wrong name. if you use infusion kernel find bottanimation.zip and name it sanim.zip.
if you use hellrsiser or entropy then it may be that darky rom uses Sanim.zip on the i9000 kernel rename it bootanimation.zip.

true but he is trying to use something built in to the rom to get the bootanimation. there are likely one of each in there so he will have no idea which is the one he actually wants.

me too but don't tell anyone.....
I wish I had some kernel knowledge so I could pick glitterballs' brain and compile something like what he had. he had a kernel that booted my captivate so fast you didn't have time for an animation. even if you had one. I want that on the infuse....

I won't tell anybody if you promise to give me a copy of that kernel when you're done.

I can't kernel dev. just wishing and remembering the good times I had with the captivate.... I tried to get a conversation going and he does answer pm's on the rare occasio he visits xda but he would just rant about the idiot cappy devs and point me to threads. I wanted to know about what he did specifically but never got an answer on that. I'd try to patch it into froyo with my brothers help if he had it up on github but the thread for that kernel was closed by a mod after supercurio complained about the sources not being available. he never made a github repo and never really showed in the cappy section after that. good dev, but had other things going on and lost interest in xda.

Ok.
First i've successfully flashed the voodoo kernel and since then, Su is working (stay updated now) so big thanx for that.
Now for Bootanimation,
I've added my bootanimation.zip and copy/paste/rename it as sanim.zip on system/media (where battery charging pictures are located) reboot and clear cache. BUT STILL HAVE THAT BORING SGS STOCK LOGO.....
I saw files in that folder (bootsamsung.qmg boitsamsungloop.qmg disconnected.qmg) is those file could interfere with the zip? I mean, are they what infuse read at boot?
Will it do serious damage if i delete them?

UPDATE:
I've tried to rename the samsungboot.qmg and samsungloop.qmg
Then reboot.
The only thing it does was to have no boot animation at startup. So even without those files and with bootanimation.zip and sanim.zip in the folder I can't get the boot anim working....
Curious thing is that i flashed a first time darky and it worked. Messed up the phone, used ultimate unbrick, flashed back to rogers stock rom then flashed the rooted kernel then flashed back to darky and since, no boot anim.....

If you're seeing your custom boot animation, stop there.
I'm not sure about replacement files for the qmg.
If you delete them, and you get a black screen, it would be harder to tell if you've boot looped.
if you get this screen logo repeatedly, it's time to restore a stock image.

As I said i did rename the files and the only thing it does was no booranimation at all. Even with bootanimaation.zip and sanim.zip in the folder..... Why my phone is not acting as same as other's......
Is there something to edit or to flash that allow to read zip instead of qmg at boot? Something that will firce the system to do that? I can change the boot sound but anim stai qmg lr nothing

Man, now I'm remembering that I also had some trouble with .qmg back when I tried a rom that had that type. I cannot remember what I did though :/ sorry.
Maybe try zeus. Or numas. They are both native infuse roms and are real good runners.

[Req] Boot animation- PS 1 startup - Success! Request fulfilled

Edit 4-3-2011: Request has been fulfilled by kpkimmel. See this thread for his ps1 and Sega boot screens.
preview of ps1 boot screen below.
I saw someone made a boot animation with the PS3 startup screen and it made me really nostalgic for the playstation 1 startup (both bios and os screens). In my opinion, the PS1 startup was the best ever! Can anyone make the PS1 startup below into a boot animation? Preferably with sound? To me the sound is the best part!
Thanks in advance to anyone who would indulge a hopeless girl geek!
lmao OMG!!!! ... :,) that was a blast yea i'd love that
give this a try, push to your phone, should work, didnt' test it just kinda rushed it...so hopefully you enjoy. Thanks.
Also i uploaded two different ones, they are the same boot animation just tweaked a little bit because some evos boot slower or faster than others..so try one and if it works great, if not, try the other one.
Also included flashable.zip so you can flash from recovery.
gahhh this just reminded of FFVIII
Thanks KP! This is exactly what I was looking for! That was really fast and I really appreciate it. Enjoy that beer!

Thank you, your donation is much appreciated as i am attempting to start development for Sprint Android devices fulltime.
So im running CM7 #33 and just tried flashing the third down "PS1_flashable.zip" that didnt work. So I tried just using root explorer and moving the first lnk into the system->media and deleting my other boot animation and that didnt work either any body can point me in the right direction?
None of these attachments work.
Matt, what part failed? Did you get an error message while flashing? I think if you are doing this manually you have to move both the SPC_animation_final.mp3 sound file and the bootanimation.zip included in the ps1_bootanimation.zip file into /system/customize/resource/. That's where they are on my system and it works fine.

Odd. I tried both of the flashables and they both worked. AmonRa complained that the zip wasn't signed but I just turned the signature check off and it flashed without a problem.

I hot it working now, just without sound.
the sound should work just fine, not sure if your putting in the /system/media part if the spc_animation_final.mp3 has a different name or not, i'll look it up and get back

Yea I tried flashing it first and it did give me a weird message appeared but it did say it installed fine. However that didn't work so I tried manually putting it in my System->Media section and that was no go.
I did unzip one of the files and put both the SPC.mp3 file and the boot animation.zip in my System-media and it worked this time only without the sound
^
But that could be because im running CM7 and I don't think it can play sounds while booting up, But I could be wrong?
Also it was pretty short loading up and was black screen for the better part of it rebooting any way to get it to repeat or load up slower so it stay's on the scrren longer.
Whew...I do love it though! So thanks
to slow the boot seq just go into the bootanimation.zip open the desc.txt and change the 60p to a lower number.

Could someone make this a bootanimation?

Alright, I have several friends who want the same thing, so it would not be just for me (and it might convince a few people to get an Android phone ). But if someone could make this a bootanimation (AOSP, Landscape), I would be ETERNALLY grateful. I would not be able to compensate you financially, but if there would be anything I could do for you all you would have to do is ask*
So, can anyone help?

I'm on Sense, and I tried it with my Rom and it worked/ran like a champ. It's in Landscape. It's late so I didn't try do any audio with it, but if you wanted to, you could probably easily pull that song from the video and simply rename it/push it. IF it doesn't work, it's most likely because I messed up the desc.txt.. Let me know and I will try to fix it ASAP.
Anyways, let me know if it works.. Going to bed.

Edit: it didn't work
I'll get it working for you, it's an easy fix. It's working on my phone right now. I actually forgot to replace the one I did last night for you with my original one. Rebooted my phone this morning and your boot animation played.
Working on it now, and I'm going to flash over to CM7 really quick to make sure it boots like it should.
Edit - http://www.mediafire.com/?z47q232h8h4tfia I accidentally uploaded it with the Sense desc.txt. It's fixed in that version. Also, on my Sense Rom when I ran it, it went through the entire animation fine and looped the last ending I have it set to. On the empty CM7 rom I tested it on, it booted really quickly because it had virtually nothing to load, so it didn't make it through the entire animation. Let me know if it makes it through all of it on yours.

I have the MP3 for it as well. What do I rename it to, and how can I use ADB to push the zip and mp3 to my phone?
I believe you rename it to SPC_Audio_Final.mp3 but I'll have to double check to make sure. I never use Audio on mine.
If you want, you can find root explorer and then use that to move the files throughout the phone. It's an application for android. ADB will work as well, there are plenty of tutorials as to how you set it up.
The commands are..
ADB push bootanimation.zip /System/media
That should be where yours is located. If you find that root explorer application, you can do it all from your phone through the menus. Just copy/paste. The audio file should go to the same place as the boot animation.

[MOD][CWM][GB] Galaxy S II Boot/Shutdown Animations w/Sound

These are the Galaxy S II Boot and Shutdown animations with corresponding sounds (GINGERBREAD ONLY).
Instructions for CWM:
Put GB_S2_Boot-and-Shutdown.zip on the root of your SD card
Power off your phone
Hold Volume Up & Volume Down while pressing the power button to enter CWM
Choose "Install zip from sd card"
Choose "Choose zip to install"
Select GB_S2_Boot-and-Shutdown.zip
Confirm selection
Choose "***go back***"
Choose "reboot phone"
Enjoy new animations!
If, for some really strange reason you're *not* running drhonk's amazing KG4 kernel w/red cwm & ext4 support, then you will need to remount /system as read/write, push the contents of /system from the zip file to /system on your phone, and then make sure all the files have the right permissions (644 or 0644).

In a terminal or adb shell, the command is chmod
Code:
# chmod 644 /system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
You'll have to remount /system as read/write first, though (I use root explorer for such things). Did you try just re-flashing the zip, first?

Yeah, what he said If you pull apart the .zip file I have here, you can easily push all of these files to their appropriate places, yourself.
It's worth mentioning, though, that the shutdown file in my zip won't work with your phone, as you're not running gingerbread. The shutdown animation for Froyo is actually a series of .png images, a configuration file, and a .ogg sound file.... There are at least two threads on these forums that explain how to replace the froyo shutdown animation with the one from the stock Galaxy S

[Q] Issues with 3E recovery in the new Android 2.3.6 update

Long time user of XDA, first time poster! This website has been a constant help and friend through all of the Flashing, Modding and Fixing I've done through my many Smart-phones (All the way back to the HTC StarTrek flip phone).
I have a question about the removal of 3e Recovery on the Samsung Infuse.
-I recently bought it broken and have since repaired the LCD. First thing I
wanted to do was load it up with some Cyanogenmod or the equivalent, and
that's when I Discovered a potentially NEW problem regarding the replacement
of the Recovery file.
-As it is a general rule, to check other threads before making a new one, I have
spent the last week scouring the Infuse page to try and find an answer to my
specific issue, and since none of the fixes posted work, I was wondering if y'all
could help.
-First of all, the Recovery file is not under the System/Bin folder like many of the
walk through videos and Threads mention, it is instead in the root of the phone.
-Secondly, When using Root Explorer to mount the root folder as R/W, I was able
to replace the "Recovery" file with the modified variation. However, whenever I
restart the phone, go into recovery via the 3 button hold, It still gives me the
unsigned error. I exit the Recovery and let it boot up normally, only to find that
the "Recovery" file has been replaced with the original.
-I figured maybe there was a backup on the phone that is auto-subbed in for the
modified file. I do a search for "recovery" via root explorer and find a few more
"Recovery" files. No matter which one I replace, upon reboot, they have been
swapped out for the original "recovery".
I am at a loss... Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I have tried the Odin Methods to a T as well as the Heimdall method for recovery.
Thanks in Advance!
Corey Krattli
P.s. I know Im not the only one with this issue, as Ive seen it posted, but never
responded to. I think it may be a new issue with the 2.3.6
Im new so probably way off, bit when you replaced the recovery file and rebooted into recovery, have you tried to select reinstall packages twice? I just started doing this kind of stuff the last few days, but I know when I pit in 3e I had to reinstall packages twice, then got the green recovery.
Sent from my Infuse 4g running MIUI v1.12.23
Replacing the 3e recovery was on froyo roms you are on gingerbread so you will need to odin the infused kernal to get your moddified recovery just follow the instruction to root rogers infuse even though you may have att its just for gingerbread let the robotic woman voice get done then boot into recovery and flash whichever rom with the instructions from that thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197248
its not an issue, its an international change. I've been telling people not to bother with green cwm and 3e since the first voodoo kernels came available. heimdall flash a voodoo gingerbread kernel to the phone and keep it there or keep a backup of both the stock kernel and a voodoo kernel with sgs kernel flasher and swap back and forth. remember you may need to incorperate some fixes for the Rogers based kernels because some wifi stuff and video playback stuff has changed.

After you paste or copied in the new recovery file, did you also change the permissions of the new file?
the other option would be to download sgs kernel flasher from market and flash gtg's CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel.zip (for GB) found on his installation page to get red recovery.
I did edit the permission on the alternate recovery file, but to no avail. Every time I reset the phone, The original file is back.
I have not tried the kernel flash, So ill give it a go

I'm with him on this. There is no need with messing with the 3e recovery or green cwm. Do what he says with using sgs kernel flasher. I have had this phone for a few months and have never messed with the 3e recovery. I keep entropys kernel and KL2 stock kernel in the sgs kernel flasher files on my sd card and flash back and forth. It's a hell of a lot easier this way.

make sure its a gingerbread kernel and pre-disable lagfix if you intend to use the stock everything working including HDMI kernel. its a pain letting the conversion run back and forth.
to do this, open root explorer and navigate to /sdcard and see if there is a "Voodoo" folder. if not then create one making sure only the letter v is capital. then, in the voodoo folder, create a "disable-lagfix" folder all lowercase. this prevents the file system conversion from running. the quote are to represent the exact spelling and case, don't create the folders with quotes in the name. the path should be
/sdcard/Voodoo/disable-lagfix
make sure it matches exactly...

[Q] boot sound galaxy tab 2 7.0

I was wondering if anyone knew how to add sound to boot I have looked and tried everywhere but can't find anything oh and can you change the splash screen
There is a few steps you will have to do first.
1. Root the device. I believe you have to be root to change the boot animation.
2. Install custom recovery.
3. find a boot animation you want to use by making one yourself or looking in the theme threads.
look in the development section to earn the process of getting root and custom recovery.

I would do a search for system boot sound ogg or similar. Not sure, but it's probably something to do with changes to system/media and a sound ogg file. Animations are changed by changeing*/system/media/bootanimation.zip

Then you'll need to create a poweron.ogg Samsung stock rom supports boot sound, not sure of others. The file on my device is located at system/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg Not sure, but some devices/roms set it in system/etc Since this device/manufacturer is new to me so, I can't give comprehensive advice other than search xda.

This is a general CM9 question, I think, rather than a Tab 2 question. CM9 by default doesn't have a boot sound. I don't know if one can be added, but I'd try looking generally for how to add a boot sound in CyanogenMod ROMs rather than specifically for the Tab 2.
(Oh, and if you manage it, you'll be pleased with the boot sound for a week or so and then get annoyed with it and remove it again...)
There is a way ...

If you are running stock 4.1.1, you can disable (or enable) both the power-off and power-on sounds in the dialog box that pops up when you power-off the device. Just select the sound before you press Power-off or Restart.
Edit: Oops, the result applies to all sounds until you change it (eg, after the next boot). So, I've renamed the PowerOn/Off.ogg files.
