[Completed] How to downgrade honor 3c 4.4.2 Kitkat to jellybean 4.2.2? - XDA Assist

I purchased this Huawie Honor 3c 3 days ago with an 4.2.2 jellyBean Running. I searched the internet for its KitKat 4.2.2 upgrade and there i found official upgrade for the cell phone from Huawei official website but the update was for China Telecom sets( individuals of China) only. i just downloaded it and applied it on my Honor 3c without backing up any previous data (added the update.app file in the dLoad folder of the SD card and restarted the phone in recovery mode). everything was going normal while updating and then something like "cust failed". and update couldn't complete. i rebooted the phone and screen appeared saying EMUI 3.0 and some Chinese alphabets. the touch system didn't work from that stage and i was stuck there. I removed the sdcard and tride to reset(wipe factory data) so that i can comeback to jellyBean again but same screen appeared after resetting even and i am stuck. I went to some technicians and they told me that there's a 50% chance the cell can be reverted and 50% is that its IMEI will be dead and blah blah! I dont know what to do now but i just want it back. kindly keep in that "warranty is voided on self Upgrade" so i can't even go to the Huawei franchise! I am stuck kindly someone help me because all i know it is just a software issue and everybody saying that hardware is corrupted. Help!

Best place to get help about your device is this thread: [GUIDE] Huawei Honor 3C H30-U10 - Bootloader Unlock, Root, TWRP, CWM, KitKat by codelover.
If you register on xda, you can post your questions in the corresponding Q&A thread.
IMO, when the issue is clearly hardware related and not caused by the manually installed software, this should not void your warranty.
I would try to claim it anyway.
Good luck !

Huawei 8 FRD-AL10 boots to eRecovery

I recently purchased my Huawei 8 FRD-AL10 on Gearbest and it came with nougat installed with all languages available. Firmware seemed to be very clean, no chinese applications, only some games that I easily unninstalled.
I used the phone for a few days until an update appeared on my phone. I don't recall the exact name of the update, other than it required a 2.41 GB download. The update was left to run on its own, with plenty of battery still left on the phone.
When I came back to check the phone it was sitting on Huawei eRecovery. Rebooted the phone but it always seems to get back to eRecovery no matter what I do.
If i restart the phone by pressing POWER and VOL + and choose the option to recover to factory defaults, it will do its thing all the way to 100%. Once I restart the phone it will always go back to eRecovery.
I reached Huawei by phone and they claim the support is out of coverage as the phone is designed for the chinese market.
Is there a way to recover the phone?
I loaded the stock android 6 rom marshmallow for FRD-AL10 available on the forum onto an SD card.
Inserted the SD card on the phone and pressed both volume (VOL + and VOL-) and POWER buttons, to force the upgrade. It then eventually fails with the following error message "Software install failed! Incompatibility with current version. Please download the correct update package!"
Removed the SD card and booted the phone and connected the usb cable and a prompt came up to install a device named HUAWEI L19.
How can this be? Why is my phone being detected as a FRD-L19?

I think you purchased a Chinese variant withUS firmware, that's what I can conclude from what you say

My friend has the same exact problem that you are writing here about. Could you send me the link you have to android 6.0 you found for the FRD-AL10. I will search around and get back to you.
If it's as I think it is, you need to rebrand your phone to AL10 or use MM of L19

Hi, I'm not sure about waht u write. So, your bootlader was locked or no? You already install firmware? Because is better to finding fw on original/Honor source. Can u post a link from whitch u download firmware? Here is many ways but waht is your issue, phone was renamed to FRD-L19...?

To make it simple. Long story short, bought phone from gearbest, you can check the details here. Phone is an FRD-AL10 intended for chinese market and officially comes with chinese/english, but as you can see on gearbest its "unlocked for european use" and they upgraded to nougat added extra languages to the phone before they shipped it to me . They unlocked the phone and debranded it to its european counterpart (honor 8 FRD-L19) which has very similar hardware.
Phone arrived to me with broken seal, and sure enough it had all the languages and emui 5.0 (which is not stock version) installed on it.
In regards to the stock firmware for AL10 I was able to find it here

That makes sense. If I load the AL10 firmware it show an error message because the info on the phone is for model L19.
Any guides on how to do it? It might be also useful for other users in the same situation as me.

FRD-L19 its the european version of Honor 8.
FRD-AL00 >>> China version (?) (32 GB)
FRD-AL10 >>> China version with 4GB Ram + 64 GB Rom
FRD-AL09 >>> EU version 32 GB
FRD-AL19 >>> EU version 64 GB
FRD-AL04 >>> US version 32 GB
FRD-AL14 >>> US version 64 GB
Please check this thread for details
L04 L14 are for US
L09 L19 are for EU, that's what I know

From the info I found on the other threads, you are correct. There is a thread here that explains the different versions.
FRD-AL00 >>> China version (?) (32 GB)
FRD-AL10 >>> China version with 4GB Ram + 64 GB Rom
FRD-AL09 >>> EU version 32 GB

The box came with broken seal, that's correct. When I first turned on the phone for initial setup I noticed that it included ALL languages available but the phone should come stock with English and Chinese ONLY.
It came with emui 5 (android 7) installed BUT the latest stock official rom for this model (AL10) is emui 4 (android 6). Only european models have emui 5 available.
So, to my understanding, the phone did not come stock from factory with nougat, they changed it to make it "european" before sending it to me. This explains why the box seal was broken. Please check gearbest listing details for my phone here.
They should be ashamed from their selves

They are not, unfortunately! I have a ticket raised with them and they are denying the whole thing even when I told them straight that the stock emui 4 (android 6) that comes factory stock with this model (FRD-AL10 chinese model) does not have all languages as they advertise.on their site. Only non-chinese versions of honor 8 do come with all languages and emui 5.
Also they are avoiding answer the question on how emui 5 came installed on the phone when the listing says emui 4.
Ah, I am shocked right now
Anyone else that might bought the phone on gearbest that would like to share their story and how you have overcome the issue?

I have a ticket raised with gearbest and they are denying the fact that they sold me a phone with broken seal and emui 5, so how can I trust them? Since the phone now only boots to eRecovery I have no possible way to prove that the phone has emui 5.
I am afraid that if i ship it back to them, through their service, they will come up with an excuse, that I broke the phone in the first place, since they already have the phone and my money on their side. The real problem is that I have now trust faith on their service!

This is what worked for me:
I could not access my phone or even boot into Android to get the Product ID to get the UNlock code for the bootloader etc.
1. Initially my phone was in a boot-loop where it stops at the Huawei eRecovery screen and would not download or update via WiFi.
2. So the 1st step was to download a rollback package for my specific model - FRD-AL10. Then I used the "dload" method (SD Card > "dload" folder, Pwr+Vol UP+ Vol Down) to apply the rollback from whatever it was to FRD-AL10...B135. Succeeded perfectly.
3. Then I downloaded the stock firmware for FRD-AL10, Chinese model, non-specific and again used used the "dload" method to flash the stock firmware to the phone. Succeeded perfectly.
4. The phone rebooted to a 'out-of-the-box' first start-up screen prompting me to select the the Region. Thereafter the Language, WiFi, Agreement, etc and then started looping again to where it went back to the "Selection" screens > Region, Language, WiFi, Agreement, etc. > loop again back to Region, Language, etc.
5. I flashed the firmware again using the "dload" method with the same result.
Note: All other posts suggested I had to 'unlock' the bootloader, root the phone, etc. Unfortunately I did not have access to Android on the phone to get the Product ID, to get the UNlock code, etc. This is where I got stuck. I used different tools, but none would work as the bootloader / phone was LOCKED & the phone UNrooted, FRP was locked.
6. Then I used "Huawei DC Unlocker". I had to buy credits first - 15 Euros. Then used "Huawei DC Unlocker" to essentially "UNLOCK" the phone, it did not "UNLOCK" the bootloader, but it did something to the "FRP" locked issue.
7. I restarted the phone in "SAFE" mode. I was again presented with the "Selection" screens > Region, Language, etc, BUT this time the phone booted into Android.
8. Rebooted the phone in "Normal" mode and it booted into Android. NOW I had access to the dial-pad and could now get access to "Developer" options like USB debugging, get the Product ID of the phone to get the UNLOCK code from Huawei, etc.
9. Once I had all the information I needed, I then 'unlocked' the bootloader by following the instructions from Huawei's website using "fastboot.exe" etc.
10. I then followed 'debranding' instructions from posts elsewhere on XDA to convert the phone from FRD-AL10 to FRD-L09/L19 firmware. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/help/help-honor-8-chinese-t3489773/page3)
I hope this information will help someone.

H60-L12... nasty bootloop

hi all!
i have been lurking around XDA for years, and until taday I have always managed to find solutions to probs with my android devices...like I said... until today
Yesterday I have been given a Honor 6 H60-L12 device stuck in bootloop.
I only have been told that it has failed and update from emui 3.1 to emui 4, "stuck at 5%" (on 3 button flash i suppose)
I do not have any other information.
I can access recovery and bootloader.
I tried to flash a EMUI 3.0 on 3button flash, but it doesn't even access the 3B update interface, while it does access it (screen with a red exclamation mark) if no microsd is in use
Bootloader is locked and i obviously can't access the system to retrieve the codes necessary to request an unlock password.
My question to Honor 6 gurus here : is the phone gone for good ?!
If you have the box now, it can have the necessary infos you need

not quite..
there can be 3 possible scenes
1. you can find all the info needed for requesting unlock code
or you can use an app for pc (something called DC unlocker) which can unlock your phone without unlock code
2.try with another sd card (assuming that somehow sdcard has formatted and could not be used again for the purpose) , I know, sounds silly, but giving a try doesn't cost you anything
3. I think, during the update process, phone has copied the information from emui 4, and somehow aborted the installation, (most probably due to a faulty download), so phone recognizes itself as a marshmallow bootloader, so it might be wise to first flash a rollback package to emui 3 and then flash emui3 (freshly downloaded is recomemded)
or
you can try flash emui4 again, newly downloaded and extracted to any other sd card
if these three cant help it, then its the service center
and even that cannot help it
PHONE IS GONE FOR GOOD
HOPE I MADE SOME SENSE :fingers-crossed:, ALL THE BEST :good:.. PING ME HERE IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBTS, first option has the highest success rate

thank you very much thilak for you suggestions, i was going to pay the 4 euros needed to unlock using DC unlocker, when i tried, one last time, using a different version of the emui 3.1: same name of the pevious one (H60_EMUI3.1_Android5.1_6.1.1) but this one was almost 2 Gb while the other one was like 1.2 Gb... I installed it with the 3 buttons reset and it worked like a charm!

Can I repair my cell phone?

Greetings to the people of the forum I am new so I apologize if I commit any lack
My case is so try to update my Huawei CHC-u03 to lollipop and marshmellow with the method of honor 4c
all good up to lollipop and a minor update, then when installing marshmellow (all this from sd with the method from the settings of the mobile) the phone is in bootlog and only says honor
I have not been able to revive it with any firmware from the 3 button method, I have tested with firmware 4.4, 5.1.1 and nothing the phone is still in bootlog
when forcing install from sd only says software install failed
* my biggest mistake was that I do not realize that the mobile is not root and has the bootloader blocked without possibility of unlocking because it has imei and serial number changed
Then can I fix it? or should I call it dead?
sorry i used google translate
When you say with the Honor method do you mean you flashed another phone's ROM on your device?

You should never at any case use another phone's ROM on your device as it will cause lot of problems including hard bricking

Android devices are not like PCs. You can't just install whatever operating system you want. Android is built for the specific hardware and device model number it is installed on, it is not built to work on other devices. It typically destroys a device when you flash a stock firmware or ROM from a different model number.
Your only hope is to flash your ORIGINAL stock firmware for your specific model number.

Unbrick Eml-l29

Hello everyone
I brick my phone huawei P20 during a handling error.
I'm not doing backup system unfortunately.
I have the bootloader unlocked and I still have twrp.
Actually I have screen that appears "error mode Warning please update system again error! Func no: 22 up a factory data reset"
I tried all the methods (dload with recovery but it puts me software installed failed.
I tried the method with the fastboot (system, kernel, ramdisk ...).
I have also tried since twrp but it only error.
But I'm not sure to take the good frimware ...
I almost want to use funky huawei but I do not want to pay for anything since there is no way back.
Could huawei be able to get me back in the state but if the sevice will be paid as my guard jumped
All the info I have is that I have EML-L20 build 8.1.0.103
it's a phone bought from a French operator
Thank you for helping me
Download the latest full update for your device and look for the following in google. It worked for me (HuRUpdater_0.3) is for honor 9 but it does not matter. In the post it tells you how to rename your three files.
A big thank you to you, his walked after a week of searching thank you thank you

BLN-L24 = no wifi, no bluetooth, no data, no signal

so my moms Honor 6x (BLN-L24) was gonna get sold since she upgraded, but the noob factory reset the phone from the factory recovery. no biggy, just log her back in. exceeeept...now it has no way of signing back in because her sim card isnt sending data, the wifi wont turn on and while she is bootloader unlocked...shes now FRP Locked and cant do anything in fastboot. so no restoring modems, system, custom recovery....nada
im not too familiar with Huawei devices, but im no noob to Android restoring/modding and such. well this thing is being hell because upon trying to restore any UPDATE.APP, its sits at "Installing update..." for a few minutes and then resets...never having passed 5%. so idk if its ACTUALLY updating (or downgrading, since ive been trying that as well) and at any rate, the wifi/data still refuses to turn on at the setup screen
HALP PLX KTHX
boop
I had a similar situation when I manually upgraded from Marshmallow to Nougat. I fixed it by doing the rollback to Marshmallow then doing a "check for update" on the phone and letting it find and install the Nougat upgrade.
You should be able to find the Marshmallow rollback instructions either here or by googling it.
Good luck!

we ended up getting our new phone plan and i put the sim in the 6x which finally allowed her to input her Google account and reset the device properly this time. the buyer wasnt too thrilled about the Wifi issue, but we took a few bucks off for the inconvenience. theyll either fix it themselves or leave it as is...either way, thanks for the reply even if its a little late xD
