I dropped my Lumia 820 and the screen has a small crack in it.
Now a few parts of the touch screen won't function anymore, so i can't enter the last number for my unlock code.
Is there any way i can get rid of the unlock screen, or remotely access the phone with an external keyboard?
I tried to access the Phone from my PC through "Project my screen" app, but i can't enable that in my phone unfortunately.
I would like to keep all my files and recover it, or simply by making a backup to put on my OneDrive.
Do you have any suggestions or tips for this?

I just changed my WM2003 smartphone device for a WM6 proffesional device. I used to have the device locked with a pin so I tried to set my new device the same way but I want to see homescreen while device is locked instead of white screen with "Enter PIN". Is there a way to tweak this? Some registry key? I want to see the "Enter PIN" screen after I tap unlock just like on the smartphone version.
Isn't that a bit of a security issue? Most people lock their phone so there is no way off accessing the data on it. However, if you show the Today screen you can see quite a lot of data (what meetings you have coming up etc).
I don't mind others seeing anything I just want them not to be able to change anything just like on the smartphone.
On locked smartphone you can see upcoming meeting as well.
Hi
I broke my phone by jumping and it flew out my pocket, the screen shattered and then someone hit my phone out my hand today and now the screen won't turn on. The phone works fine, just the screen is black. I can't unlock it, it has a pin on it so I can't retrieve all my data especially the data not backed up online... This is a huge problem as I need it for work.
Is there any way I can use some type of emulator on my PC to use my mouse to unlock the phone?
I have bitdefender on my phone, I also have splashtop. Is there any way I can use either of these?
I'm trying to help a friend of mine recover some vital files (that for whatever reason, have no other backups) on a LG Optimus F3 (vm720) phone that has had water damage.
The phone turns on, and boots up to the home screen. Problem is, we cannot interact with the screen at all. I supposed that the digitizer might have been damaged, so I bought a replacement, but found that to not work. Pulling out the motherboard revealed that the circuitry that is on the obverse side of where the digitizer plugs in to, is completely fried (See attached.) So, I believe that there is no way we will ever get a touch screen working on this phone again. So, are there other options?
The file we need to access is in app protected storage, for a particular application. I know, that's going to complicate things even moreso.
It appears this device does not have any HID support, so I cannot plug in a USB mouse like I can on my nexus 7.
So a few more ideas, that have their own associated questions:
Is there any low level tool that can dump the app protected memory? (I doubt it, that seems like a security bug)
If we could bring up the application itself, and interact with it, we can retrieve the file we need. But is there anyway to do that through usb/bluetooth/some other way? As far as I can tell, the only buttons that work are: HOME, volume up/down, and power.
Is there any professional services that can desolder the memory board and retrieve files that way? Price is not really a concern here unless it's astronomical.
I can get into the recovery mode, holding down the volume button while powering on, but I'm pretty sure if I were to flash a new ROM that had ADB enabled, it would wipe the app protected storage in the process. I don't think the phone is unlocked either, so that may not even possible at all.
The phone is non-rooted, and does not appear to have ADB turned on.. so this might be a lost cause. :crying:
Ok so my phone's screen is perfect, the display is not broken or scratched or anything like it. But in a vertical line on the right side of the screen almost at the end, it doesn't respond, the phone its perfectly fine but on that vertical line of the screen it does not get any of my touch input. I have the show touches feature from the developers options enabled so I can see exactly where the phone screen doesn't work.
The thing is now I can't enter my security pattern to unlock my phone, and before sending it to get fixed (and I know its probably gonna need a new screen) I wanto to backup my files and photos saved on the device but since I cant enter the pattern on the screen the phone wont let me access it via USB.
Anyone know how I can access my phone now? If I do a factory reset it will erase the pattern but also the personal data I want to recover?
Is this a firmware issue? or Hardware issue? Maybe some inside connection for the display got loose or something since my screen is intact without a single dent or scratch.
Any other Ideas on how to backup my stuff from the computer? Maybe there is some program I dont know about.
Cheers in advance.
Long story short I have a crypto wallet with a balance & all the log in credentials are stored my flip. The screen started acting up a few months ago and before it reached the point of me being completely unable to use it, I enabled screen mirroring and all. Adb debugging is also enabled. The problem is the screen is completely blind. I can power it up swipe and unlock the screen from memory to where the digits are however I can't see it. I have a crypto wallet on the device I'd like to access as the 2 step authenticator & email is stored on the device. Is there any hope I can access this without having the screen repaird first? Thank you
