hey guys ..
i fell in love with the galaxy nexus but i bought my xe 3 weeks ago ..
but i really want the nexus
should i sell my xe and pay additional 100€ to buy a nexus ?
Yes, You should.
I recently played around with the new Nexus and was disappointed. The usual ****ty feeling every Samsung has, older hardware than the S2 and the (in my eyes) ugly ui of stock ics are nogo's for me. If I were you I would stick with the sensation till the first quadcore ics phones come out...

tbh, i wouldnt mind trading my sensation with a galaxy nexus either ...
Sadly, in the place where i live, i have to add at least $500+ to be able to upgrade ...
galaxy nexus is $800 in here ... and they will buy my sensation for less than $300. so it doesnt really worth the upgrade (for me) ...
but i think you can go for it
i wouldnt..
If you like it then do it. Dont think you need other people telling you which way to go. If you want actual specs comparisons then fine but in the end do what you like.
I wouldn't, the Xe got so much more to give then the nexus. Also the nexus doesn't got sd card space, which is kinda rubish. Don't do it.
I didn't wanna, but now I do. Glowing notifications ( i'm a sucker for this ) and no physical soft button thingie majigs. <3
But, my budget only allows me to stick with my Sensation at the moment.
Do it! 720p screen, on screen buttons, constant google support whats not to like.
But for me it would also cost around 400 to upgrade since my phone is worth only 300 after only 3 months on sale. GS2 has retained its value

There's the answer to your question. Only 100 to upgrade?? Do it.

I agree, if it is only gonna cost you 100 to be happy then do it. But for me, it doesnt warrant the 300-400 increase for the switch. It is barely any different as far as tech goes. Yeah it might be better at some things but really not noticeable to most ppls naked eye. I didn't get the Sensation until my older phone (Eris) was a drastic difference. Maybe its just cause i am not rich, but i figure that every 3 months there will be something new out with one or two "new" things. Once that list out weights the cost then i will upgrade again. But 400 bucks for very similar phones just does work for me.
i am living in europe and here a new xe costs around 500€ and i will sell mine for around 400€
and the nexus is around 530€
OK the screen is better than the sensation ones , there is more ram and so on..
but i don't know because i am a student and don't have much money .. you know
.

nexus obviously
i wonder why everybody says that i should buy the nexus..
Hi
I am starting to look for a new phone to replace my HTC Desire which is coming to the the end of its contract and will be due an upgrade in January. I have been looking around for a new phone, but i am struggling to know what to get.
Obvious one to look at would be Samsung Galaxy Nexus, galaxy s2 etc.....but they seem massive against my desire...
If people own one of these phones, do they not find the size is a hindrance while on the move?
I Guess my question is what would people suggest as a good phone to get which is a similar size to the HTC Desire?
By the way i live in the UK, if that affects what is available.
thanks in advance
Andy
Similar size would be Nexus One, Desire S or the slightly bigger Nexus S. Apparently everyone needs phones the size of laptops now so there's not much choice for normal sized devices.
I recommend the Desire S
Actually no, its not much of an upgrade, but if you are happy with the Desire, you could upgrade and get a Desire S on a even cheaper contract.

I original have the Nexus but they lock my web2go a month ago so now I am seeking new phone that can be used. From what I understood, Sensation non-tmobile brand and Sensation XE would work. Are they worth it and where can I find a good price on a international Sensation? I am also pondering on N9. Since you can add andorid on it and i am pretty sure tmobile will never block it but no ics support.
Another thing I am consider is that I will most likely receive a Titan II from the ms contest and I can unlock it and use it as 2g phone. Which is pretty tempgin as T2 is a pretty sweet phone.
well, from my personal opinion after being using Sensation XE for more than 2 months and with amount of time i've spent jumping from ROM to ROM, this phone is well-worthy for you to buy, even when i am not a phone-switcher kinda guy but when i want to buy something, i will researched and do comparison with my friends' phone.
as of for now, since HTC One is around the market, i would suggest you get that one
Well, keep in mind it need to work with web2go..... XD Now sure how MUCH will htc one uk version cost lol
Hi Sensation users...
I've done a search and haven't found an answer to this question.
Would it be worth it to "upgrade" from a Sensation to the One S? I know the one s is faster with the new chip but how much better overall could it be?
Also with the screen being Pentile? I've read some people say its ok but others not so. Also i haven't been able to find a comparison of the One S to the Sensation screen?
Any thoughts?
Cheers
The OneS is a decent phone, it features Sense4.
IMO its market similar to the NexusS was, in that its the flagship carrier of something new. NexusS has ICS 4.0.3. Its got basically everything that trumps all other phones. 1080pHD Video, Beats (which some might consider bad but its louder than most AOSP), quad core i beleive?
It certainly is a "all rounder" phone. As my contract with Optus is expiring too (aus) im probably going to go for it. My android enthusiast friend enjoys it very much so.
I am definitely NOT going to upgrade to the one S. In my mind it's only an incremental upgrade from the sensation in most ways, and in some it's a step backward. It's a great phone if you want something like an Iphone, but I just can't see getting a phone with only 16 gb's of storage and no removable battery. PLUS the screen isn't any different, same size AND resolution.
Don't get me wrong, the OneS is a good phone but if you've already got a sensation IMO it's not worth the upgrade. And to answer d2 above, it's only a dual core, not quad.

I agree with this.

Haaaa, my OneS friend is a Liar! We have benchmark competitions with our androids for no reason, and he claimed that his "cpu cores" made the difference.
I agree with the notion that its an incremental upgrade. If you are buying JUST for sense4, you can have a ported rom version which works (almost) just as good on your sensation.
thanks for replies... what about the screen? do you think the pentile is that much worse than the S-LCD?
I'm not too concerned about the storage as i currently have 8gb which i don't even use up. But not being able to remove the battery is a little bit of a concern as i want to root etc... and concerned if something goes wrong how do i force a shutdown like taking out the battery?
Id wait it out another year the sensation still rocks especially with CM9 or ASAP, just think of what the next batch of phones will have instore, also heard battery life sucks on the ONE as well :-/
The CPU-Upgrade is quite noticeable. It may "just" be a dual core, but it is almost on par with the quad core of the one x. Due to the lower resolution faster in those testing with the native resolution of the device.
Screenwise... Can't say. Looked not much different than the one in the sensation. But they closed the gap between screen and digitizer, so the viewing angles are better.
Overall great phone. But I would not upgrade, since my sensation fulfills the demands I have for a smartphone.

personally my size limit is 4.3" that's why i wouldn't go to the One X. From the leaks i believe the SG3 will be 4.6 or 4.7? like the galaxy nexus? so it automatically rules it out for me.
my biggest concern in the battery life and screen on the one s. but all the reviews have said its super fast...
hmmm
Plus when you go to a "PENTILE" display from Sensation display you will see pixels. its ugly. Once you see it you cant unsee it. Its like the Droid Razr screen. Awful. origianl super amoleds suck really bad. You either need to go with super lcd 2 or Super Amoled Plus HD(hopefully galaxy III)
If I were you I would not, camera and speed is already decent on the sensation. SAMOLED is better but not enough to justify an upgrade. It does have sense 4 and ICS but you may as well wait until the next HTC flagship device to come out.
That being said I am getting the HTC One S because I'm coming over from iPhone and Sense 4 + ICS is a great way for me to get started.
I just got the T-mobile US Sensation but the One S will be out within my 30-day exchange window. I got the Sensation for free on contract. If the One S is ~$100-125 on sale anywhere, I might trade up. I can't really justify an additional $200+ for it...
Yeah I just got a sensation at a pretty good price outright new so pretty happy about that.
My contract has expired so I was thinking about getting the One S on a new contract. I could sell either one if i wasn't happy with the One S.
Thats the only reason I haven't put OrDroid on it yet although i have been using CM7 and CM9 and am very happy with them too!
I've found in stock the sensation is a little slow and i've been getting FC more times than i would like so far and its all stock.

did you guys get the sensation for free through t-mobile loyalty? I'm about to upgrade in a a few months. I'm thinking of getting the Sensation or the One S depending on the price. If they offer the Sensation for free and the One S for $150, I'll probably go for the Sensation. The main advantages of the Sensation that appeal to me are the removable battery, expansion, wifi hotspot, and potentially price. I don't see why people would upgrade to a One S if they just got the Sensation since they wouldn't be fully eligible to upgrade anyway so it wouldn't be worth it...unless they are buying it unlocked.

I got it free from Costco. Both T-mobile and Costco have the HTC Amaze for free now too. Kind of like an upgraded Sensation, but a bit bulkier. Development for it is picking up, but at the price of free it is also a great alternative to the One S.

Nah mate i'm in australia and someone got one as a gift and posted it up for cheap so i snapped it up
Haven' done anything to it yet but scouring around the dev forums to see which one i like. I am wanting to go with One S software like the OrDroid as it seems to be getting more stable. only a few niggling issues left and the fact that you can run the Sensation at 1.5Ghz is a bonus oh and the removable battery etc...
Definitely not
Can't replace the battery, no SD card extension and soon we will have a fully working sense 4.0 for the sensation which is already OC to 1.5 and up.
I'd upgrade to the One X at least it has a serious hardware upgrade.
I'll probably "upgrade" to a One S. I am really liking how thin it is and I do miss having an AMOLED display. But I'll actually decide once I get to feel and use one in my hands.
I was taking a close look at the One S specs today. It really doesn't look like much an upgrade over the Sensation at all. Same chipset family - 28nm manufacturing instead of 45nm, so it will allow a slightly higher clock speed. Benchmarks don't put it any faster out of the box the what we are getting already.
The only real difference is the dedicated imaging chip. Other than that, it is pretty much just a Sensation that ships with ICS & Sense 4.0. - one that you can't even upgrade storage or battery. Those 2 things are huge to me and the primary reason I stay away from Apple products.
It's marginal upgrade at best. Really quite disappointing.
Now that I'm upgrading from my 2 year contract on an HTC Desire S I've been looking at the market. The HTC One is obviously the current flagship HTC and mainly because I've never used an android phone without Sense I'm not sure if any other brand would suit. Trouble is I've held a "One" and don't really like the metal body. My missus has an HTC One X and it feels great. So looked for a One X+ and I can't find one on contract. 6 months old and already abandoned. The only phone that seems ok is the upcoming HTC Desire 500. Middle range phone, sense 5, nice screen and a memory card slot.
I just want a 4.3" decent spec android with 32GB of memory either on the phone or via a memory card. Not sure about non sense phones although looked at a windows 8 phone - but i don't think the OS is mature enough yet.
Any ideas?

Thanks!
OP didn't post in the other thread. But I'm also looking at either this or the Moto G as an upgrade from my two year old Desire S.
Are there any other competitors ?
