Upgrade to HTC One S - HTC Sensation

Hi Sensation users...
I've done a search and haven't found an answer to this question.
Would it be worth it to "upgrade" from a Sensation to the One S? I know the one s is faster with the new chip but how much better overall could it be?
Also with the screen being Pentile? I've read some people say its ok but others not so. Also i haven't been able to find a comparison of the One S to the Sensation screen?
Any thoughts?
Cheers

The OneS is a decent phone, it features Sense4.
IMO its market similar to the NexusS was, in that its the flagship carrier of something new. NexusS has ICS 4.0.3. Its got basically everything that trumps all other phones. 1080pHD Video, Beats (which some might consider bad but its louder than most AOSP), quad core i beleive?
It certainly is a "all rounder" phone. As my contract with Optus is expiring too (aus) im probably going to go for it. My android enthusiast friend enjoys it very much so.

I am definitely NOT going to upgrade to the one S. In my mind it's only an incremental upgrade from the sensation in most ways, and in some it's a step backward. It's a great phone if you want something like an Iphone, but I just can't see getting a phone with only 16 gb's of storage and no removable battery. PLUS the screen isn't any different, same size AND resolution.
Don't get me wrong, the OneS is a good phone but if you've already got a sensation IMO it's not worth the upgrade. And to answer d2 above, it's only a dual core, not quad.

I agree with this.

Haaaa, my OneS friend is a Liar! We have benchmark competitions with our androids for no reason, and he claimed that his "cpu cores" made the difference.
I agree with the notion that its an incremental upgrade. If you are buying JUST for sense4, you can have a ported rom version which works (almost) just as good on your sensation.

thanks for replies... what about the screen? do you think the pentile is that much worse than the S-LCD?
I'm not too concerned about the storage as i currently have 8gb which i don't even use up. But not being able to remove the battery is a little bit of a concern as i want to root etc... and concerned if something goes wrong how do i force a shutdown like taking out the battery?

Id wait it out another year the sensation still rocks especially with CM9 or ASAP, just think of what the next batch of phones will have instore, also heard battery life sucks on the ONE as well :-/

The CPU-Upgrade is quite noticeable. It may "just" be a dual core, but it is almost on par with the quad core of the one x. Due to the lower resolution faster in those testing with the native resolution of the device.
Screenwise... Can't say. Looked not much different than the one in the sensation. But they closed the gap between screen and digitizer, so the viewing angles are better.
Overall great phone. But I would not upgrade, since my sensation fulfills the demands I have for a smartphone.

personally my size limit is 4.3" that's why i wouldn't go to the One X. From the leaks i believe the SG3 will be 4.6 or 4.7? like the galaxy nexus? so it automatically rules it out for me.
my biggest concern in the battery life and screen on the one s. but all the reviews have said its super fast...
hmmm

Plus when you go to a "PENTILE" display from Sensation display you will see pixels. its ugly. Once you see it you cant unsee it. Its like the Droid Razr screen. Awful. origianl super amoleds suck really bad. You either need to go with super lcd 2 or Super Amoled Plus HD(hopefully galaxy III)

If I were you I would not, camera and speed is already decent on the sensation. SAMOLED is better but not enough to justify an upgrade. It does have sense 4 and ICS but you may as well wait until the next HTC flagship device to come out.
That being said I am getting the HTC One S because I'm coming over from iPhone and Sense 4 + ICS is a great way for me to get started.

I just got the T-mobile US Sensation but the One S will be out within my 30-day exchange window. I got the Sensation for free on contract. If the One S is ~$100-125 on sale anywhere, I might trade up. I can't really justify an additional $200+ for it...

Yeah I just got a sensation at a pretty good price outright new so pretty happy about that.
My contract has expired so I was thinking about getting the One S on a new contract. I could sell either one if i wasn't happy with the One S.
Thats the only reason I haven't put OrDroid on it yet although i have been using CM7 and CM9 and am very happy with them too!
I've found in stock the sensation is a little slow and i've been getting FC more times than i would like so far and its all stock.

did you guys get the sensation for free through t-mobile loyalty? I'm about to upgrade in a a few months. I'm thinking of getting the Sensation or the One S depending on the price. If they offer the Sensation for free and the One S for $150, I'll probably go for the Sensation. The main advantages of the Sensation that appeal to me are the removable battery, expansion, wifi hotspot, and potentially price. I don't see why people would upgrade to a One S if they just got the Sensation since they wouldn't be fully eligible to upgrade anyway so it wouldn't be worth it...unless they are buying it unlocked.

I got it free from Costco. Both T-mobile and Costco have the HTC Amaze for free now too. Kind of like an upgraded Sensation, but a bit bulkier. Development for it is picking up, but at the price of free it is also a great alternative to the One S.

Nah mate i'm in australia and someone got one as a gift and posted it up for cheap so i snapped it up
Haven' done anything to it yet but scouring around the dev forums to see which one i like. I am wanting to go with One S software like the OrDroid as it seems to be getting more stable. only a few niggling issues left and the fact that you can run the Sensation at 1.5Ghz is a bonus oh and the removable battery etc...

Definitely not
Can't replace the battery, no SD card extension and soon we will have a fully working sense 4.0 for the sensation which is already OC to 1.5 and up.
I'd upgrade to the One X at least it has a serious hardware upgrade.

I'll probably "upgrade" to a One S. I am really liking how thin it is and I do miss having an AMOLED display. But I'll actually decide once I get to feel and use one in my hands.

I was taking a close look at the One S specs today. It really doesn't look like much an upgrade over the Sensation at all. Same chipset family - 28nm manufacturing instead of 45nm, so it will allow a slightly higher clock speed. Benchmarks don't put it any faster out of the box the what we are getting already.
The only real difference is the dedicated imaging chip. Other than that, it is pretty much just a Sensation that ships with ICS & Sense 4.0. - one that you can't even upgrade storage or battery. Those 2 things are huge to me and the primary reason I stay away from Apple products.
It's marginal upgrade at best. Really quite disappointing.

upgrading from Desire to Sensation a good move?

I have a Desire and i do love the phone and i have no problems with it other than the internal memory being too small for apps but with a new rom this has not really been a issue and with the coming official 2.3 upgrade i didn't really see any reason to consign the phone to a dusty shelf just yet....
However, today Orange rang me and offered me 1400 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited internet, unlimited landline calls to U.K. numbers and the new HTC Sensation for £25 per month as my contract is up. (I get £15 credit as a long time customer hence £25 per month)
This offer is only for today and as i've not seen the Sensation in the flesh, i'm wondering is it worth getting or waiting until the next gen of phones comes out, as some review i've read put the Sensation behind the Galaxy S2 and there is no way i'm having one of those.... it looks too flimsy for me.
what do you guys think??
I have just (lunch time) received my Sensation from Orange as an upgrade to my Desire. So far? I love it. The SGSII may have a slight edge on speed, but the build quiality on this thing surpasses it by a country mile. The deal they have offered you is for how long? 2 years? whatever, i'm sure you'll be pleased by the difference. Makes my Desire seem like something ancient. The changes in the Sense interface are remarkable. I rooted my Desire some time ago, running CM7 & Open Home 6. Sense blows this away. I'm busy downloading app after app after app with no sign of running out of space (yet). Though I was disappointed to find only 1Gb onboard compared with 1.5Gb of the Desire HD. The Orange handset came with an 8Gb microSD card in, so i've just swapped it out with the 16Gb I had in my Desire. Now to fill it up.....
I made the same move and wouldn't go back. HOWEVER, do NOt get it direct from Orange as they pre-load it with more crap than any other Carrier. Get it from Carephone Warehouse as they do unbranded handsets. This also means you'll get updates quicker than Orange users
The handset is a definite step up from the Desire, the screen alone makes it worth it. You won't regret it
my upgrade was from Desire to Sensation...i loved my little Desire, never had problems with it, but the Sensation blows it out of the water...it's a beautiful phone and a pleasure to use
I agree with n7of9.
Desire was the perfect phone and I didn't sell it (my rescue phone) but Sensation is outstanding. I'm just wainting the free bootlaoder and instal custom ROM and hope sure you will never regret to own it
see ya
i personally don't give a **** about rooting...the only reason i rooted my Desire was for more app space (oh ok, and to get rid of twatface crap)
Coming from desire as well, 100% happiness here.

i was a little disapointed, i have the oled version of the desire, and it's screen is way better than the sensation (except the resolution ofcourse) also the screen of the desire is more responsive then the sensation, after a few days i returned my sensation to my phone provider as faulty because i think the touchscreen is defective.
I have the latest AceSmod007 cm7 rom so i am already very pleased with the latest sense version on my desire.
To the OP: I presume you don't mean that Orange only offered this upgrade toyou for today only, and that the upgrade has been available from today onwards?
As to whether or not the Sensation is worth it, as I've said in another thread on here (HD2 vs Sensation), for basic use, there is going to be very little difference in terms of performance. So if you don't mind your currently smaller display, and only surf the web, check your email etc., don't bother with the upgrade; it simply won't make that much of a difference.
Otherwise, you have to ask yourself, is your current Desire really too little for your needs?

the only thing I miss is my AMOLED, the LCD is not as good as AMOLED, bad viewing angle, not as sharp
My upgrade was from Desire to Sensation.I loved my Desire I had no problems before with.I have a Sensation for Two weeks and I love her a little marvel!!
He has a big difference between the two and is worth changed.
just Wonderful!

i nipped into my local carphone warehouse and had a quick play with the phone and i was impressed and i think i'm going tell orange send me the phone asap as i can't really see another phone coming from HTC before christmas which is going to be better??
if i'm factually incorrect here, please feel free to correct me!!
orange me gave a bit more time to think it over, as i told the woman in retentions i was not signing up to 18 more months without seeing the phone first. And after thinking about it i could wait forever for the next "great" phone coming soon and never get anything as i'm constantly waiting...
I just switched form the Desire to Sensation, for a week now. Here are some observations:
- I thought I would miss the hardware buttons on the Desire. I don't.
- It has a bigger screen, but size it's much bigger. Perhaps just as thin.
- Battery life is much better. In fact, you can put EVO 3D's battery (which has even larger capacity) on it to get even better battery life.
- Camera is a lot better.
- qHD resolution rules.
I do miss the super deep black, super wide view angle, and super quick response time of Desire's AMOLED screen however. Pentile never bothers me, although some people hate it. It takes a few days to adjust to going back to LCD screen, but qHD resolution is worth it. And Sensation's screen is pretty good to start with.
Don't expect everything to run much faster though. Both the Desire and the Sensation uses the same CPU core - Scorpion, although the one on Sensation is running at 1.2Ghz and it has two of them... What I mean is, on single threaded applications that are CPU bounded, you will see at most 20% speed improvement. The Scorpion is somewhere in between a Cortex A8 and Cortex A9 core, so on CPU power alone it is not as fast as other Cortex A9 equipped SoC like the Nvidia Tegra 2. If you constantly run a lot of apps and switch between them often, you will see significant speed improvement though. That's the virtue of being a dual core phone. However, the GPU on the Sensation is much faster, so if you game a lot you will see big improvement.

HTC seems to refresh their line up every 1-2 quarters. It is very likely that they will have something around Christmas time. Not sure whether it will be before Christmas or after though. Word is that Ice Cream Sandwich will launched before the end of the year, so the next high end HTC phone may well be a Ice Cream Sandwich phone (may or may not be Nexus branded). But that's half a year away... I wouldn't wait if I were you.

Newbie, Thinking of buying a Desire S

Hi, Im thinking of getting a Desire S as my next phone. Im not exactly new to this as i had a regular Desire for about 18 months which i rooted, s-off and installed many customs roms.
I was looking for a upgrade and bought a Sensation a few weeks ago but its not for me as i find the phone abit too big. Even though its really fast, I dont find it comfortable to use.
The only phones that i can see that are similar size to the original desire is LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix or Desire S. But as I want Sense, the Desire S is only the option. Even though it is not dual core, it should be much quicker than a Desire as;
- Has 50% more RAM. 768MB compared to 512- 1GB internal memory so no need for A2SD which should make things faster- Processor, even though its a 1GHZ i believe it can be overclocked to over 1.8GHZ and at a safe 1.4GHZ. Is this correct?
In terms of ROMS, the Desire S has got a large collection.
Anything else that i have missed out or need to know?
Thanks
Hi, please tell me where did you find it ?
This configuration is awesome.
From what you've written there, you already know the answer as to which phone you should be getting. If you are lookin for something th same size as the Desire S then there is no real competition as faras I'm concerned - not just for design and specifications, but also for ROMs, development and user forum support on XDA
As the Nike adverts say "Just Do It!!"
Thanks guys, am I correct regarding the overclock statement I've made?
Hi.
If You are not bothered with not having the latest tech, then I would say Desire S is a good choice.
So far android experience is great on it, haven't found any real reason to go with multi core just yet.
Things You'll like - alloy unibody, size, battery life (depending on rom and useage), overall speed, quite decent main camera + front cam (skype works very well), price (I wouldn't sign for a long contract on it though).
Cons - well... battery life (still, ain't bad but more energy efficient devices are going to be in sale soon)
Good luck.
You are correct with all statements
The Desire S also has better battery life than the original, thanks to its larger capacity, and the more optimized 2nd gen CPU (which is very good for OC'ing)
I have my ds for 6 months now, and im very happy with iti had the same problem like you (the sensation was to big)
I had the choice between samsung galaxy s and desire s, and i have choosen the ds because of sense too
Gesendet von meinem HTC Desire S mit Tapatalk
Decision made, desire s it is. Just need to put my sensation on eBay now.
Also noticed that sensation xl has the same CPU as the desire s which is clocked to 1.5ghz.
I think there is a thread on here somewhere about the CPU being the same as the one in the Sensation, and i think that though it is the same model number the one in the Sensation it is a later generation model so it is designed differantly and runs at a higher speed.
The only other thing i would say is perhaps wait a month or so and see what new models HTC announce. it could be that the Desire S gets upgraded similar to the move from Desire to Desire S.
Edit heres link to the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459911
There is a HTC primo coming out in a few months but that only has 512mb RAM.

Yup, you missed something huge. THE MWC IS COMING IN LESS THAN A MONTH !!!!!! The Desire S was revealed at MWC last year. Surely, something waaaaaay better will show up this year. I LOVE my desire s, but i won't reccomend you to buy it at this time.
The Galaxy S Advance has been announced, it's roughly the same size as the Desire S (4.0 inch screen), similar price but has much better hardware (Dual core 1 Ghz CPU, Super Amoled Screen). HTC must compete with this, so somthing big (with sense ) will come at MWC. TRUST ME. Even if you don't like what comes, you can buy the Desire S later, it's not like HTC is gonna stop supplies

Sadly, as much as I love my Desire S too, I can only agree with Shrome.
Unless you aren't too bothered about having the latest and greatest, and aren't a tech-head, this phone is recommended and will serve you well for basic smartphone tasks.

I'm sure the Desire S will serve for a lot more than just basic tasks. I know synthetic benchmarks are not a lot to go by, but considering the stock Galaxy Nexus gets 32 fps in Nenamark 2 and my Desire S gets 27 fps (without any overclock), it's somewhat reassuring and makes me believe the Desire S still has a bit of kick remaining.

Although the leaked specs say 512mb, I highly doubt the device would come like that.
HTC wouldn't downgrade the succesor.
Leaked specs aren't always true you know
The HD2 original leak said it has 384mb RAM. But it ended up having 448mb (576mb actually, if you unlock the hidden RAM)
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
You can't be sure of any of those things( except the price, maybe). The leaks are HIGHLY unreliable. I'm 99% sure it won't have lower RAM than the Desire S if it's a successor. For all you know, it may be a succesor to Wildfire S, cost waaaay less, and the Desire S may have a different succesor entirely
Hmmm, not sure now.
When will the official release be of these phones? And when they become available, are we talking weeks/months?

325i Please see my response to your other thread about coming from the old Desire. I just edited it. Noticed a worrying trend on the recent Amazon reviews.
Regarding new phones releases, it depends. If the manufacturers have any sense, they'll have the product ready to swing into the shops riding on the hype-wave from MWC. Others may want to hang back and see how their product is received before committing to getting x amount of them made.
For the first time I'm not 100% about sticking with HTC for my next phone. I just don't trust their reliability and after sales support so much any more. I buy my phones outright SIM-free and unlocked so I can't really afford to make a bad decision.
Problem is looking around at alternatives I don't yet see anything tempting, baring in mind I don't like whopping screens and not too fussed about multi-core devices. I mean if the Xperia Arc S was slightly smaller and had a front-facing camera I'd probably already be saving up for it.
The Sony (minus the Ericsson) Xperia S is just far far far too big. OK 12MP camera but I bet it still blurs if taking a moving shot. Plus is it me, or have the designers copped out? A formless, plain rectangle of a phone like SGS2. Doesn't look comfortable at all to hold, and doesn't hold a candle to the Desire S in terms of looks.
Only thing I'm certain of is I wont be selling my DS. I'll keep it around so I can stay in this section of XDA and carry on with testing and support.
yeah the desire s overclocks very well indeed.mine will run at 1.5ghz stable. its definatly a much more capable phone than the original desire and as you say there arnt many other phones that match the form you are looking for.
we also have the best section on xda with a huge selection of roms.cant go wrong really.BUY ONE!
Think ill go for the Desire S.
I also buy my phones sim free, usually slightly used ones off ebay. Ive decided to get a Desire S, if i newer/better HTC comes out, i can always put the Desire S back on ebay.

[Q] One S or wait?

As the topic states, which would you do and why? Keep using a G2x and wait to see if something nicer than the One S releases in the near future, use an available upgrade and get the grey One S when T-Mo releases it/wait for them to release the MAO version, or burn the upgrade on a SGSII.
Sent from my stock, rooted LG-P999WA using XDA Premium
The SGSIII is probably right around the corner. That's pretty much the only other phone that will trump the One S at the point. So the question to ask yourself is if you want the One S or the SGSIII.
The last thing you want to do is use your upgrade on an SGSII. If anything sell your G2X and buy an SGSII on eBay.
If only HTC would bring out the One S with 32Gb!
I'm still enjoying my original desire but really don't think I could have any less memory than my 16Gb card. I don't want a phone any bigger than the S. So come on HTC Surely they'd fly out the door, seems a pretty perfect phone in just about every other area.

Go for the one S, i mean the specs on the S3 would look promising but the design of Samsung phones are blah.
I went for the One S, haven't got it yet but don't think I'll regret the decision.
The Galaxy S3 is probably going to have an even larger screen than the S2 had, making it more of a competition for the One X - and way too large for my taste (in fact, the One S is almost too large with 4,3", too, but there's just nothing smaller out there with decent hardware anymore). I've always preferred Sense to TouchWiz, and never much liked Samsung phones in general, even though the Galaxy S2 seems to have brought massive improvements in quality and buyer satisfaction over their earlier offerings.
i was originally also waiting for the gs3 but after mwc i was obsessed with the one s. after having i for 4 days now i don't regret the decision. the cpu is extremly fast and the build quality and design of the device is just extraordinary. samsung's devices on the otger side always fail to impress me on those two points... i prevoiusly had a galaxy s which is a good device but in contrast to the one s it felt cheap and looked ugly...

[POLL] Do You Still Love Your Sensation?

Hey guys I am new on Sensation forum (not on xda, you can see my thanks meter and total post ) and will get my brand new sensation next week.
Do you still love your sensation?
I come from Xperia Neo and want more powerful phone than Neo and i think i got this phone since I dont have much money for one X or Galaxy nexus which is preferrable for me.
Edit: I have my sensation now, use it for one month and love it, so sad some devs moved on but another devs come, now this thread specifically for anyone who want to complain or express how you love your sensation.
I still like but can't say that I love it. After trying out the One X the rose coloured googles have come off. I still much prefer the Sensation for its design (sd card, removable battery, curved screen) but the performance and screen on the One X blows me away.
I like the sensation better than the galaxy s ii. The number of ROMs, the current ICS support, the HTC one S ROMs, (Why get one? ) the overclockability to 1.9GHz, the built in beats audio support, the removable battery and the fact that the housing comes off in one fell swoop(if you phone gets dropped and gets dents, replace it quickly, cheaply, and easily), the ability to multi-boot, and the fact that it's HTC. Doesn't get better than that!

I still love my HTC sensation XE i mean, look at it.. It looks great. What's even better is the support the XDA sensation community gives. The camera's great, its a great phone for gaming, the pixels are just awesome (movies and reading ebooks)
As for the battery life, i get about 21-25 hours a day. But it depends on what custom ROM you use too. Might i suggest you use ARHD ROM as well as Faux Kernel. And also, if you are willing to spend US$30 on an extended 1900Mah Anker battery, go for it.. the battery really helps alot, i have seen some people going over 40 hours on a single charge.
Whatever it is, if you're worried people here stop the support for the sensation, don't be. Its a great phone and once again the community is superb
How did you reach 1.9Ghz???

I like the sensation better than the galaxy s ii. The number of ROMs, the current ICS support, the HTC one S ROMs, (Why get one? ) the overclockability to 1.9GHz, the built in beats audio support, the removable battery and the fact that the housing comes off in one fell swoop(if you phone gets dropped and gets dents, replace it quickly, cheaply, and easily), the ability to multi-boot, and the fact that it's HTC. Doesn't get better than that!

I sold it and have regretted doing so ever since. Have the SGII right now, but the lack of developer support, ICS, and TouchWiz make me wish I woulda ditched the Samsung instead.
That's exactly why I didn't get the SG 2. It's funny you put up this post. I thought I lost my phone yesterday and was looking at replacements. The galaxy Note is nice with the stylus pen and HUGE screen. But Touch wiz is garbage so nope. Then the just release the One X on Rogers(Canada) and looks wicked with ICS and Sense 4.0, but only 12 GB of usable storage!!! NO SD card slot!!! I ordered a 64 GB card last week cause my 32 GB card is full. Again Nope. Found my phone yesterday...So yes I LOVE MY SENSATION.

But how about the extra 256MB of RAM? Is that very noticeable? Or the HSPA+42 vs the Sensation's debated 14.4 or 21?

I hate touchwiz too, even they updated it to 5,6,7. And falling in love with HTC sense.
Look at my friend's SGII, its fast but the UI looks like a crap, i dont like it.
And he always asks me for a good launcher to replace TW launcher

Tried my friend's SGII and its fast and never had any lag. But TW is crap like hell, and too much mod stock rom on rom development.
But idk about browsing speed, we luck if we had over 3Mbps here, never had more with any phone.

This phone from the out side perspective looks slow but when you set it up to your liking with custom roms and kernels this phone rocks. If you keep it stock its slow so don't.

Do you still love your sensation?
I come from Xperia Neo and want more powerful phone than Neo and i think i got this phone since I dont have much money for one X or Galaxy nexus which is preferrable for me.

how come it's cheaper than the Gnexus? I will be getting the Sensation soon and its available online for about 430-450$ + 30-40$ for shipping! When the Gnexus is available for 399$ + 20$ for shipping or so! from where are you going to get your Sensation and for how much?
Sensation sees some strange pricing. When I was originally looking at phones, I was told to wait for a used mint Sensation at the $200 price mark. I did see a few, and missed out on the one or two that were legitimately mint. Found a few that were beat out or otherwise extremely shady (suspect IMEI would be blacklisted not long after the sale, etc). Ended up "desperate" for one and ponied up $250 for it. A shame since the MT4GS is just about identical, except for the small screen and physical keyboard (and assured hspa+21 and supposedly better camera).
In the NYC area, I see like-new ones go for $250-300 all day long, and new ones around $300. I know TMO charges $550 for it BNIB, which is absolutely absurd, given the GNex's $400 unlocked/unbranded price. Even at $300, the Sensation is a bit hard to swallow, since there's "better" phones for not too much more (sg2's and Amazes sell in the $350 ballpark), although those are used.
On the shady shade of things, if you got in contact with someone in the states who was unfortunate enough to get their hands on a blacklisted unit, you might be able to score it for cheap :x
It's absolutely brilliant what HTC did with the battery cover in terms of being able to replace it and get an almost new phone. The only problem is that there's a small bit of trim on the bottom that's not part of the cover. I've got a new cover coming for mine, but that bit is a little mangled.
All in all, coming from a Motorola Triumph, this is the best phone I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Just running it on the "modest" ARHD at the moment, and it's more than thrilling enough. Can't wait for CM9 to hit maturation though. Hopefully by the time Sense love wears off on me and I'm ready to go back to AOSP style.
I do wonder for those on TMO's post paid, if you were to get a used phone, would you still have the remainder of warranty through TMO? I understand they are willing to swap up a G2X to the Sensation for those having severe issues. Would be marvelous, given that the G2X fetches as low as $150 used in my market. Of course, then you're losing out with the expensive postpaid contract anyway (unless they still do EM+ plans).
For $430+shipping, the Sensation is absolutely not worth it, and really, it'd be a no brainer to get the GNex! Especially if the Sensation really is a 14.4 device and not 21.

I know, i was talking about the original sensation! all online sellers sell them from 430$ to 600$!!
Did you get it locally or online? its being sold for 600$ here in Egypt with 1 year warranty which is a ridiculous price, anyone knows a good/trusted place to get mine?
And if the XE is being sold for 430$ hell am going to get it lol

How is it slow?
I found the Galaxy S II laggy compared to my Sensation XE and I have not rooted it, running completely stock.
Got rid of the SII because of TW

Anyone selling there phone to get SGSIII?

Just checking to see if anyone is selling there Sensation or any other phone to get the GSIII, or just might be buying one and keeping there old phone? I know I been thinking about getting one lately since mobile network is so slow and sometimes I have no signal either . Other than that, I love my Sensation just tired of the hassel with the signal sometimes. Don't know if Im selling my phone or not but I might get one from T-mobile on release date I guess (June 21,2012), haven't heard about the price yet only specs.
Nope i think my sensation will do until the end of my contract which is in february 2013 ... And then ill see the phones available at that time...

Anyways, I'm not selling my Sensation, I'll just do an upgrade on one of my lines.
Not buying til there's significant battery improvements
Not worth to change.

Keeping my Sensation... Not a big fan of Samsung!
Agree with some points - until there is not much improvement in battery life, I'll keep it.
Not just Yet
The Sammy is better phone than the Sensation, but it's not worth an upgrade, maybe if we got the quad core version. besides the HD screen, I'd be interested to see if anyone could name something the Sammy can do that the Sensation can't.

I'm not selling my Sensation, still happy with it and haven't started flashing it yet...waiting for a serious problem/delay/crash to start looking into better custom rom.

I love trying new phones an all, but will probably wait a little after release date. Wonder, will it be a major difference in performance compared to the dual version and the quad?
NOPE, keeping my sensation until it's paid off then seeing what Android is available at that time. I'm on payment plan so at least a year. Then I'll look into what's new at that time. I'm really happy with my sensation! Especially due to xda and custom Roms, operating system upgrades, and wonderful forum support! Why ruin a good thing?

I'm waiting on a Motorola nexus quad core. Til then will do!
Even though Google did buy Motorola I doubt that they will be making the hardware for it.
Google already said that they don't want to directly get into the hardware business.
Mainly they just wanted Motorola for their collection of patents.
Either way, (sadly phones are a expensive habbit for me lol), have a sensation, amaze, and one s. Due to the signal fluctuations and problems I have had with that phone I will be selling the one s and getting the GSIII. I will still probably keep the amaze and sensaiton. Mainly the sensation because I have alot of accessories and protection for it for when working on my cars and stuff which I haven't got for the Amaze which just has been a "good" not for work backup. Plus I flash the sensation too much to get rid of that phone.

They have a bunch of kick ass Verizon droid phones. It's only matter of time until they release a Motorola nexus, which at that point might be quad core. Companies tend to change their mind sooner or later! I had the amaze and in my opinion I enjoy the sensation more.

It's very possible, there are going to be 5 Nexus devices this year from different manufacturers
I would like to have a quad core handset. One X would have been my preferred choice (love sense) but I need a unit with a removable batt.
SGS3 is one option or maybe the new Huawei Ascend D Quad (http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_d_quad-4568.php) which is due to surface next month.
I have a feeling Huawei will soon become a major player. They are already a giant company in networking etc.
Nah I'm not a fan of quadcores full stop. My contract expires may next year and so I'm going to compare the octacore beasts there are roaming the jungle at the time. Probably a HTC but we never know maybe a s4 ( I say extremely hopefully ).
