Just using the touchscreen no! However i believe that you can use a bluetooth keyboard+mouse to play

Or a spare PS3/4 controller + Sixaxis app, works fantastic. I've read Xbox 360/One controllers also work but i don't own one to test it.

If you have an OTG USB hub you can also use USB mouse and keyboard (and even USB Ethernet adaptor) to play on GRID.

I think the whole point of the post is to be able to play games on the Shield tablet without using a cumbersome gamepad, keyboard or mouse. A virtual gamepad overlay would be a great addition to the Shield tablet. Even if it doesn't work as well as a real gamepad, at least it's an option. If I'm going somewhere, I don't want to have to drag a MOGA controller with me in addition to the tablet. Would rather just hold the tablet and be done with it.

Sorry but i forgot to add this. Read through this link i think what your looking for is in here!!!

and if you need to download other emulators from the developer "yongzh" which by the way his emulators cannot be found on the Market because Google is being big jerks about it, you can still download them using his website.

Just a warning/observation. While from reading, though I haven't tried it yet, you appear to be able to use two controllers via bluetooth, hooking two differnt working usb contoller to the usb ports on the dock doesn't work in either the snesoid, nor N64oid. Instead you will find both controllers control both characters on the screen.

with Snex9x Ex the app allows you to make a wiimote player 1 and another player 2.
I have used my wii remote (plus classic controller) with n64oid but 1 player only.
To do this I used WiiController from the market first before opening n64oid.
It may not work 2 player though as it seems to map wii controls to the keypad.
i'll give it a go in the next wee while
Edit - Just tried and I couldn't get n64oid to do 2 player.
Consolation Snes9x EX should do no problem.

Hello, I was wondering if I can connect 2 controllers to sixaxis and play it on N64oid. I tried one controller and works awesome, the second controller connects on sixaxis, but when I open a game on n64oid first controller works and the second one doesnt do anything. I then switched the controllers, but only whichever controller synced first works and the second one doesnt do anything. Please help...

You need to go into input settings and map the buttons for the second controller
Typed by my thumb.
Hoping to get an answer through this thread....
I have a TF201 with SNESoid from "Yongzh" and two PS3 Six-Axis controllers. Is there a way to play two player games using each of the controllers? I can get them both to "work", but they only control the 1st player. I have mapped one controller under controller 1 and the other under controller 2. Thing is, the button that is assigned to each control is the same, which is obvious since they are the same type of controllers, but I can't get the emulator to distinguish the two. Not sure if I make a ton of sense, but if you have a way to play 2 player on an SNES emulator for the TF201, I'd love to hear it.

[Q] n64oid + sixaxis controller

Hi,
I installed n64oid on my TF, and connected a PS3 sixaxis controller via BT, everything seems good, I can map the controls in the emulator app, but when I launch a game i got the message "n64oid is running in background" in the notiication bar, and i can't control the game with the gamepad.
If i map the controller buttons to letters like a, b, c etc... and i play with :the dock keyboard it works. I think it is somehow really in the background, and the browsing/loading roms part of the emulator keeps the focus, because if i quit the game and go back to this screen I can see the letters on the screen corresponding to the buttons i pressed while testing...
I tried nesoid too, same problem...
Have any of you already experiences this problem ?
Thanks !
Edit: just tried with a wired xbox 360 controller, it works, so it's just with this sixaxis controller app...
just connect the ps3 controller via usb and it should work fine
2 things I always forget to check; 1- did you change the input method from your keyboard to sixaxis controller using the big button in the sixaxis app? 2- did you go into Other settings in n64oid app and enable input method?

I still am having no luck with my ps3 controller and n64oid. I am working with a Toshiba Thrive, I have them paired, but n64oid seems completely unaware of a bluetooth controller. I have the thrive set to Sixaxis input and n64oid set to "Use Input Method" on. Is there anything I am missing?
Hey guys quick question what's better for games like super Mario xbox controller or ps3?
I love playing Mario on PC emu and getting tf next week hoping to make the experience even better hate keyboard controls

Truthfully I would say there is little difference. It comes down to whether you prefer a wired or wireless controller. Either way you go with the Xbox 360 controller youre going to have a wire coming out of your docks usb port (have to use PC Wireless 360 adapter)
I have played mario with both and loved it both ways. The only other thing I will mention is that with the Xbox 360 controller you cant program the right joystick, but with the Sixaxis Controller app and a Sixaxis you can program both sticks to work independently. That comes in very handy if you decide to play and first person shooters in n64oid.
sixaxis over 360 control
I really like the dpad on the sixaxis more for classic games due to clearly defined up/down/right/left rather than the large disk with nubs... just my preference though I might just be too picky.
So with the extra stick on the six axis control does it make say golden eye way easier to play ?
I have a xbox 360 but don't have a ps3 so is wether its worth the extra cost really

Im using n64oid 1.1.4 because that is the highest one that works with CM7 Nightly build 253.
And using the six axis app(forgot what it is fully called)

I figuered out that I had to set the Hardware keys on the main Nook settings first(mapping each ps3 button to a letter or number) then going into the n64oid settings and go to hardware keys and setting them there.

Well i use the mhl for movies and stuff, and also for a bit of work.
Also have nice rubber, rollable BT keyboard -- works pretty well.
Unfortunately Cynogen -- which gives u best google experience doesnt support mhl ATM. and some apps dont work -- PS touch for instance...
hmm so there is no way to get a wireless keyboard or the xbox joystick to work

I imagine because your unable to map the controller to the touch screen it will work with a few select games that have native gamepad support
Although if you download USB/bt joystick centre you can map them I think

The only thing I don't like about mhl is the big performance hit the phone takes so if a game pushes your phone already and you connect via mhl then it becomes unplayable for me. But less demanding games and emulators work great.

Your only option:
-Root your NOTE (gingerbread or ics, any kernel with mhl support)
-Get a SIXAXIS compatible controller (eg sixaxis, dualshock3, datel turbofire2)
-Get the SIXAXIS App (Paid) from the Market
-Get a MHL-cord and connect to PC
-Now you connect your Controller to NOTE via BlueTooth using the SIXAXIS App
-Use the SIXAXIS App to map which button does what action OR where it taps the screen
-Save/Load profile for various games
-Connect NOTE to HDTV via MHL and USB-power
-Enjoy!

Alright! ordering my OTG and MHL tomorrow. Lets see which one works.
Hi there......
If course, it's possible to connect the note with the mhl to a tv and connect a wireless keyboard over Bluetooth.....
I use the keyboard from keysonic 340 BT, that's great, have a mousepad, works great with the "external Keyboard Helper" app, there you can configure 3 complete keymappings to the whole keyboard and switch them how you want..... Also gamepad keys are available....
For gaming:
Most of the new games are supporting Gamepads already........
For ps3 Controller use the sixaxxis App, works for sure.....
But there ist also an app that is called bt/Usb joystick center, wich should connect all kind of wired and wireless pads to the Usb host or Bluetooth.......
I got the app but have no controller at the moment to test it.....
There's also an add on, called joy2touch, this should make it possible, to configure a keyboard, wired or wireless, to play games like on pc with mouse for view and keyboard control, that's what the dev promise, but sure I never test it...... If it works, it would be fantastic......
But the quality of the Mhl picture is fantastic.... At movies, you can watch them in real 1920 x 1080, more than the display can show.... Great.....
And also in games, there is enough resolution to play it on a great hd tv set.... A real mobile game console.......

And just realized that after connecting the MHL i wont be able to connect the OTG cable as we have only 1 port:silly::silly:.
So was looking at alternatives to play the games not and later buy some good joysticks. Few games are working with the standard keyboard, mouse but i have to map them.
Also came across this wireless joystick . Any idea if this will work with sixaxis or similar app to map the buttons?

[Q] Controller App (Android to PC)

I was looking for an app that would emulate an XBOX 360 Controller on android and make it work via wifi to my PC.
It's like this apps of Mouse/Keyboard remote, so I could play away from PC, like laying on the bed. Is there an app like that?
Hello,
I never seen that kind of app.
How could an android (phone?) device replace a gamepad?
Or so, how could you use it?
To have an idea, test a snes emulator and you'll see that's not realy playable without true buttons/cross/sticks...
I would buy a wireless gamepad for computer or use a PS3 controller with a BT dongle.

The same way there's a WiFi Mouse & Keyboard app could be one WiFi Controller app.
I agree it's not as comfortable as a real gamepad but you get used to it. I have no problems playing games on ePSXe for example.

[Q] PS3 controller and Bluez IME on Shield

So I'm sure this question has been asked and answered but I'd like to use a PS3 controller (or possibly another Bluetooth controller) on my Shield but I'm not sure how. I wanna be able to sit on the couch and play emulators without looking at one screen in my face and be able to play games multiplayer. Help would me much appreciated. I'm semi-new to Android. Before owning the shield I had a phone for a bit last year but couldn't get a controller to work on that either.
I also would like to try that.
with ipega or moga controller.
Don't know about the PS3 controller, but I use the OnLive BY controller and use the HDMI port on SHIELD to my TV...

Yes, works great.
You can use also a Xbox controller with a USB receiver.
If you want to use the PS3 controller you have to root your shield and use the famous sixaxis app from google play. To use the Xbox controller you don't need to root, because you're actually connecting the receiver to the USB in the shield.
Now that I tried both I prefer PS3 controller, because involves less cables and with the sixaxis app you can map buttons and change a lot of things.
I created a thread about gamepads here:
