Hi,
I installed n64oid on my TF, and connected a PS3 sixaxis controller via BT, everything seems good, I can map the controls in the emulator app, but when I launch a game i got the message "n64oid is running in background" in the notiication bar, and i can't control the game with the gamepad.
If i map the controller buttons to letters like a, b, c etc... and i play with :the dock keyboard it works. I think it is somehow really in the background, and the browsing/loading roms part of the emulator keeps the focus, because if i quit the game and go back to this screen I can see the letters on the screen corresponding to the buttons i pressed while testing...
I tried nesoid too, same problem...
Have any of you already experiences this problem ?
Thanks !
Edit: just tried with a wired xbox 360 controller, it works, so it's just with this sixaxis controller app...
just connect the ps3 controller via usb and it should work fine
2 things I always forget to check; 1- did you change the input method from your keyboard to sixaxis controller using the big button in the sixaxis app? 2- did you go into Other settings in n64oid app and enable input method?

Oh I did not see that ! Thanks a lot it works great now
I still am having no luck with my ps3 controller and n64oid. I am working with a Toshiba Thrive, I have them paired, but n64oid seems completely unaware of a bluetooth controller. I have the thrive set to Sixaxis input and n64oid set to "Use Input Method" on. Is there anything I am missing?
Hey guys quick question what's better for games like super Mario xbox controller or ps3?
I love playing Mario on PC emu and getting tf next week hoping to make the experience even better hate keyboard controls
Sent from my GT540 RSpec using XDA App
Truthfully I would say there is little difference. It comes down to whether you prefer a wired or wireless controller. Either way you go with the Xbox 360 controller youre going to have a wire coming out of your docks usb port (have to use PC Wireless 360 adapter)
I have played mario with both and loved it both ways. The only other thing I will mention is that with the Xbox 360 controller you cant program the right joystick, but with the Sixaxis Controller app and a Sixaxis you can program both sticks to work independently. That comes in very handy if you decide to play and first person shooters in n64oid.
sixaxis over 360 control
I really like the dpad on the sixaxis more for classic games due to clearly defined up/down/right/left rather than the large disk with nubs... just my preference though I might just be too picky.
So with the extra stick on the six axis control does it make say golden eye way easier to play ?
I have a xbox 360 but don't have a ps3 so is wether its worth the extra cost really

So I got a Blue PS3 Controller today and im trying to set it up to have the Cbuttons on the RIGHT analog stick, The Left as the main analog and the d-pad as the d-pad.
Im using n64oid 1.1.4 because that is the highest one that works with CM7 Nightly build 253.
And using the six axis app(forgot what it is fully called)

I figuered out that I had to set the Hardware keys on the main Nook settings first(mapping each ps3 button to a letter or number) then going into the n64oid settings and go to hardware keys and setting them there.

Updated last night. Finally got to play around with it this morning. Plugged PS3 remote into USB port on the dock and fired up FPSE. Mapped all of the hardware keys from the controller in settings and now I am playing all of the PS1 goodness I can handle. Excellent!
what game u r currently playing ? and what version of fpse?
is there a chance to use a bluetooth controller aswell? or other solutions without a dock?
I haven't tried to use Motion in Joy to manully input the bluetooth mac address of my transformer yet as I am at work and motion in joy is installed on my computer at home. I am going to try that tonight and see if maybe they will pair now. I am playing Gran Turismo 2, Bloody Roar 2, Ultimate Doom, Rival Schools with no issues so far. FPSE version 0.10.31
The ps3 remote also works great with most of the other emulators.
So far, i've tested it on my transformer with:
Gensoid
Gearoid
SNesoid
Nesoid
Gameboid
GBCoid
N64oid <- for some reason i couldn't get the c-buttons to map to the right analogue stick properly, may look into this later...

so u are using older version than mine,0.10.48. I alredy tried 2 games : spyro 3 and Valkyrie profile, both have sound problem . I hope someone could test em too. the graphic quality is bad if compared to N64oid emulator, the 3d texture is pixelated, the resolution is also very low, so we can see the jaggy. my question is did I make wrong configuration?
about the game rom file, is it correct they come in several files like .ccd, .img, and .sub when we extract from zip file?
thanks in advance

I've got a master emulator game and controller compatibility thread that's growing. I'll update your findings but please stop there to post any games you have luck with.
When you say PS3 remote do you mean controller? It's wired right?
any chance we can get a step by step how you setup the ps3 controller to fpse...

Sure. Plug the PS3 controller in with USB to the dock (obviously). Fire up FPSE and choose your game. Go into the options/settings (for FPSE) and select input. Change Bluetooth pad port 1 to BGP100. Then on touchscreen I turn off the skins for the onscreen controls. This is optional but why have them on screen when you are playing with a controller. Then hit the hardware keys option. Tap the screen for each key then touch the corresponding key on the controller to assign them. Once all buttons are assigned you're done. You have to do it for every game the first time you play it then it will remember your settings for that particular game.
Also I don't run the game in full screen (someone was talking about the graphics) I run it in 4:3 centered. It looks better that way.
edit: Also didn't get a chance to use motion in joy to manually enter my transformer's BT MAC address into a ps3 controller last night to see if wireless might be an option now.
k thanks, i'll give it a shot
when i get to the part where it says press a key, nothing happens.....any idea what would cause that.
tried a different controller and it worked...weird...both work fine on the ps3.
thanks
oh and do i save within game or do i have to go to the fpse menu to save...keeps asking me to load bios, or do you have to do that each time you setup a new game?

On the system menu after you select a BIOS go down to the bottom and save as default config. You might have to push the home button on the PS3 controller to get it to assign the keys. It wasn't registering my keypresses on the assignment menu so I hit the home key like two times (it ended up registering the first button as home and I had to change it).

How would one go about trying to pair the PS3 controller to the Transformer via Bluetooth? Isn't motion in joy for a PC/Windows?
Thanks
So far I get nothing but FC's and problems with FPSE. Which version are you using and what games seem to work? I have a lot of old PS1 discs but none of the images I've made will load without a FC.
I've been trying to run off the micro sd. Is that a problem?

Hey guys, looks like after the update the 360 controller works now
Great news but what to do with it?
I mean, its great for mapping the controls to emulators but I Want to map it for android games! Like asphalt 6 and NOVA and others!
This would also help us to map wiimotes and other gamepads to other applications and games.
Anyone know how?
anyone? please?

no way to map wiimotes and gamepads to other games other than emulators?
On a side note. I used my standard USB gamepad and it works great. I don't think you need a 360 or PS3 pad specifically.
Just any old USB gamepad. Mine is a Saitek or something. It looks and feels like a PS3. Its too quality of PC gamepads.
I also have a wireless Wii gamepad that works well.
I tested this last night and the controls just work. You can't change the mappings but the buttons function. So Nova and others will work. You also have touch screen for those games if something came up which required touch input.
For emulators with key mapping... you just map ad normal.
For standard android games... they just work.

Just a warning/observation. While from reading, though I haven't tried it yet, you appear to be able to use two controllers via bluetooth, hooking two differnt working usb contoller to the usb ports on the dock doesn't work in either the snesoid, nor N64oid. Instead you will find both controllers control both characters on the screen.

with Snex9x Ex the app allows you to make a wiimote player 1 and another player 2.
I have used my wii remote (plus classic controller) with n64oid but 1 player only.
To do this I used WiiController from the market first before opening n64oid.
It may not work 2 player though as it seems to map wii controls to the keypad.
i'll give it a go in the next wee while
Edit - Just tried and I couldn't get n64oid to do 2 player.
Consolation Snes9x EX should do no problem.

Hello, I was wondering if I can connect 2 controllers to sixaxis and play it on N64oid. I then switched the controllers, but only whichever controller synced first works and the second one doesnt do anything. Please help...

You need to go into input settings and map the buttons for the second controller
Typed by my thumb.
Hoping to get an answer through this thread....
I have a TF201 with SNESoid from "Yongzh" and two PS3 Six-Axis controllers. Is there a way to play two player games using each of the controllers? I can get them both to "work", but they only control the 1st player. I have mapped one controller under controller 1 and the other under controller 2. Thing is, the button that is assigned to each control is the same, which is obvious since they are the same type of controllers, but I can't get the emulator to distinguish the two. Not sure if I make a ton of sense, but if you have a way to play 2 player on an SNES emulator for the TF201, I'd love to hear it.
Anybody able to successfully get all the key mapping correctly to play with Shadowgun? The game is fun, but would be GREAT if I could use my PS3 controller.
I got up, down, left, right, fire and reload to get mapped...but I need camera tilt to work properly when I am walking, having to use the screen to move around the camera kinda defeats the purpose of it.
I am posting this in 2 places, I wasn't really sure which would be best...but MODS feel free to remove/merge the one that doesn't need to be used. I just want to know if anyone was able to get this working properly
What a game this is, im playing on the tablet, havnt got a dock, doesnt answer ur question sorry, but awesome game

I'm running the latest Revolver ROM and both analogs worked out of the box.
Remapped as follows:
R1 = Trigger/Action
Triangle = Reload
Up = Weapon 1
Left = Weapon 2
Right = Weapon 3
Down = Weapon 4
I have to say that I'm pretty blown away by the game. Screen controls are pretty good, game play is fun and the graphics are just amazing.
With the sixaxis app or plugged in via USB on the dock?

I have it all working on mine - I have a guide at my blog on how to do it all. It's awesome with HDMI out.
Its working perfectly on my transformer/dock with a sixaxis official PS3 controller plugged in via USB.
You guys think there's a way to use the keyboard dock to control games like Shadowgun and maybe others? Would be really great!
Another question: Are only PS3 controllers supported or are Xbox 360 controllers working as well?
Nevermind that question, found the answer already.

Yes I use the dock to control Shadowgun..
default keys are:
Arrows: movement
I,J,K,L: look and aim
8: shoot (I don't rememeber well)
but using keyboard it's not so comfortable..maybe you could use a joypad..
7-Reload
D-Pad Center-Fire
D-Pad Up, Left, Down, Right-Analog 1
A-Shotgun
D-SMG
I-Analog 2 Up
J-Analog 2 Left
K-Analog 2 Down
L-Analog 2 Right
S-Rocket Launcher
W-Grenade Launcher
Back-Pause Game
Those are all the keys for those of you using a keyboard

Unplug your ps3 or switch it off on the back. Once that is done, plug in your controller and press the home button, after that you can map the buttons within the game.
Yesterday i have added a new tab dedicated to the multitouch gamepad in Droidmote Server / Client. (remote control tablet with your phone)
i have tested Shadowgun and it work superlative. in a day i publish a video to show how it works.
Arrows: movement
I,J,K,L: look and aim
8: shoot
for aassign I,J,K,L,8 to your button open generic.kl and remap the buttons keys to this letters.

not sure about those games but i use a wii remote for all my emulator games.
The game/application must explicitly support it. The only ones I know of that do right now are the emulators, Riptide, and the new Shadowgun(awesome btw).
I think you can use the XBOX 360 controller wirelessly with the USB dongle, which kinda defeats the purpose. No clue about PS3
Thanks, that's what I figured.
You can use the psĀ³ controller wirelessly with an app called sixaxis. Works amazing on shadowgun and emulators. Im sure itd also work with riptide but i dont have that game.
Thanks! I'll try it out.

The PS3 SixAxis app does the same thing as the WiiMote app. It binds the buttons to letters... which can be MAPPED in Emulators and games that support button bindings.
So Wireless gameplay on native android apps is probably a no go (except ShadowRun since it supports button bindings).
WIRED gameplay is totally different. Android supports WIRED controllers out of the box since 3.1 or 3.2... This should work... to some extent. Your using a controller for a game which requires touch input... may not work well. YMMV!

which driver do you use? I used RWiimote back in the day with my G2 without issue, but it immediately force closes on the transformer.
I got sixaxis working great last night, but it slugs the game down pretty bad. But at the time I was just rooted with bone stock otherwise, I'm in the process of flashing a custom rom, hopefully runs better with CPU tweaks. The only issue I was having with emulators was that I had to specifically select "Use Input Method" in SNES Emu, and I think N64 the option is called Use IME.
