I'm using Verizon Droid Razr Maxx HD. Bootloader is unlocked as well. I was initially rooted on Kit Kat and then I installed CM12 for Lollipop but somehow during the process I lost root. What is the best method to get it back? Thanks!
Enable root in the settings menu.
Wow...I feel like an idiot lol. I had no clue they started to do that. But thanks, man! I greatly appreciate it!
I'm pretty sure that's the problem, anyway. I just installed Slim on my tablet and there was an option to enable root in Developer's Options.

I've been searching and I've seen some posts about it already, but I'd like some clarification if possible.
My cousin has a Droid Razr HD from Verizon and it's running 9.16.6 currently after using mattgroffl's utility. Prior to that, it had the 9.18.79 update on it. As it stands, the phone is rooted and Superuser is running properly, has been updated, etc. However, when he tries to run the Motocalypse bootloader unlock APK, it does nothing. Is this do to the 9.18 update being installed previously? Is there a known workaround or one in process? This is more curiosity than anything. To me, if the phone was "flashed" back to 9.16.6, then 9.18.79's "files" shouldn't exist... Unless my logic is entirely flawed.
Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time to those who post!
I might be wrong here but from what I've read, if you accepted the latest update, you can no longer unlock the bootloader. But obviously it is rootable.

Hi I'm completely new at rooting and was just wondering if rooting using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332825& would cause my phone to be wiped.
I am not planning on flashing any ROMs, just getting rid of all the stuff verizon likes to put in. Thanks in advance!

When you root your phone you're merely adding administrative access to your phone. You should read more into this before doing anything to your 500 dollar phone.
That method works great! And no you will not lose anything. But like the person above me said, do your homework and make sure you know what you're doing.
Good luck, and enjoy your root access
Oh, and while using the casual root method, go ahead and unlock the boot loader and flash CWM recovery right away. Casual will do this all for you. Just choose the options from the drop down menu.
It'll save your a few extra steps in the future if you ever do decide to try out a custom Rom someday.

Ok so I am kind of a noob at androids and I just started learning some interesting stuff. Anyways I managed to unlock my boatloader, root my phone, and flash the cyanogen 10.2 rom. I was enjoying my changes until one day I made a big mistake, i accidentally downloaded chainfire's superSU from the app store. I guess this interfered with cyanogen mod's native root. So i realized my accident and deleted it, only one problem, it took my root access with it. I have tried many ways to regain root but I simply can't. Would someone please help me, any help would be appreciated. Also i am running android 4.3 and my build number is xt897.

Hey guys,
Recently I tried to root my Motorola Droid Ultra using MotoRoot and the way it works is that you download it from xda dev. and side load the apk onto your phone. You then run the setup inside the app and then the phone is rooted. I am very familiar with the rooting process but the thing is whenever I try to install moto root it says application not installed and I have checked and made sure that I can install apps from unknown sources and sure enough I can. I tried installing the apk through ADB too but it still gives me the same message it says application not installed. I have even turned off verify apps but it still doesn't work I have also enabled developer options but still not budging same message every time. What am I doing wrong??? I need help.
Helpful info: This phone was purchased in Early December 2013 so it's pretty new but what happened was when I got the handset I tried to root it but it gave me the same message then 1 day later after I bought it the phone randomly shuts off and I can't even get into the bootloader or go into recovery so it was basically dead and there was nothing I could do about it so I went back to Verizon 2 days after I bought the original handset and they replace it with another droid ultra and everything works fine but I still can't root it :crying:

I'm having the same problem. I messaged jcase about it to see if he maybe had any answers as to how to fix these issues such as the failure to install or did not download messages. The was a quick and easy one as well that I had mentioned in the message. The response I got was useless. He told me he was **** with windows and easy guides so I should wait till someone makes a windows version of the hack so that I can download it and root... I have games and stuff that I want to hack and bloat I want to get rid of.. Now I'm being told that I need to wait on a windows version of the rooting system to be made so that I can do all this... Why hasn't anyone done this yet? Idk mang but I have the same problem as you and no one is making our lives easier. Hopefully someone else reads this and respond with something that is of help. Post here if you find any solutions and I'll do the same.
Are you on 4.2.2? If so, the only way to root at the moment is to follow the pwnmymoto steps 100% PERFECTLY. And when you say you tried using ADB do you mean you tried to push the files(pwnmymoto.jar + su) to your sd using ADB and then use telnet and all that fun crap? This link: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2444954
Anyways, but if your phone's version is less than 4.2.2 I believe the app should install as a normal one would.

Don't attempt to root a phone until you've read the instructions completely. Things go easier if you read the entire thread, even if it takes a while.
Of course, it's important to read the beginning of the thread... like the first post, which says you must be on 4.2.2 (the camera update).

Sorry, but unless it's a dev edition there is no known root method for 4.4.4 with or without a pc.
I could rootear my phone droid xt1080 verison with the program kingroot using PC version only for a few minutes. but I served to remove very persistent malwares. I would love to unlock the bootloader to switch to cyanogenmod but it seems impossible. probe by many means. sorry for my bad English.
same... is there any other method to permanent root
Okay, so I have a Motorola Droid Maxx v. 4.4.4. My kid wiped my phone and I lost everything. I can't seem to find a program or Root.
Recovery programs fail due to the phone not having USB Mass Storage Capabilities. Does anyone know of a Root for this version? Is there a way to downgrade? Any information would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Thanks,
Bizhop

looks like it is a NO on root, but with possibilities. read here for more info.
im assuming you were not rooted before the wipe? because if you were, all you should need to do is re-install the su app and it would work again. fdr cant remove the root binaries.
