I'm a huge star wars fan and found this awesome looking boot animation of an AT-AT walking.
If someone could port this over to the Nexus 5 that would be awesome and I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you! Flashing these when I get home!
Be aware.
I flashed file posted above and my Nexus hit boot loop.
The At-At animation just stopped at one specific moment and the phone restarted itself again.
Even reinstalling ROM didn't help - I had to do Factory Reset.
Latest TWRP installed, did everything by the book.
Maybe it's still my fault, no one can say.
Although, the animation is superb and thanks for porting it to N5!

No, you did fine. Animations with more than 199 frames in a folder seem to cause headaches. The original frames are also 1080x1920, which is very bad on a Nexus 5.
I did the cropping, left it at 213 frames, and it locked-up in the worst way. It clobbered my system and the OS had to re-optimize all my apps. Damn!
Try these:
Big - http://www.mediafire.com/download/c...Walker-Big-bootanimation-Nexus5-flashable.zip
Small - http://www.mediafire.com/download/n...lker-Small-bootanimation-Nexus5-flashable.zip
I've chopped the frames to 1080x720 (Big, scaled-up) and 1080x480 (Small, as original). I've also reduced the number of frames from 213 to 106.
Let me know what you think.
You fixed it!
Now everything works flawlessly, thanks.
I like the smaller version more - the big one looks quite blurry (I know it's caused by resizing, but it's just more visible), though it's great to have a choice.
One more time: thank you very, very much.

I thought they both looked rather blurry and "worked".
Did some research and found a much cleaner and slightly larger version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/bootanimations-36-custom-bootanimations-t2999434
I've updated the links I provided earlier to the new format, with the following changes:
Big - scaled to 1080x768
Small - 1080x512, letter-boxed only with no scaling
Links:
Big - http://www.mediafire.com/download/c...Walker-Big-bootanimation-Nexus5-flashable.zip
Small - http://www.mediafire.com/download/n...lker-Small-bootanimation-Nexus5-flashable.zip
Let me know if there are any issues.
No issues at all.
You made me want to turn my phone off and on just to see this animation.
Remarkable.
I really appreciate it, thanks.

I saw this animation and went nuts! I think this would be really rad as a boot animation and even a live wallpaper. It is really just a series of gif files right? I wish I had better knowledge of flash and gif animations like this but I do not. YET! Until then, anyone want to tackle this? I will donate to whoever pulls this off. =) If you read this and think, "I know of this really cool Zombie/dead/grave animation." Post it! I know there are a lot of requests for bootanimations etc. sorry for adding to the mess, but I am really excited about this! Thanks for reading!
Here is the link:

The animation is a bunch of .PNG files, 1 for each frame, so there could be quite a few of them for that anim. You'd need to find the source and resize it to something more appropriate. Being that it's a 4:3 animation you'd have some issues making it a resolution so that it looked good on the 10:16ish display

kc.rkitek actually made the original robot (i just learned that). I got it off a buddy and modded it.
The zombie I posted was actually the 3rd version. In the first on I flipped the colors (but didn't resize), second I resized (and flipped colors), However, the zip ended up being 20mb! not only could I not upload it here (8mb limit) but it lagged the boot up. So I said F it and just did it how I should have in the first place...

Well it worked perfect. Essentially the best part of that animation! Again, good job dude!
I recently started learning how to do some work in the community with splash screens. Initially I just did three as copies of an image from another community member (got his permission), but I seem to be making more and more thus the need for a singular thread.
So far, these are all simply splash screens for the Synergy Roms, however as splash screens go, well it doesn't matter what rom you're running, would just be a bit strange running savaged mod with a Synergy splash, but thats on y'all.
Anyway, as I get better then I'll branch into boot animations or lockscreen mods and maybe even theming roms, but for the moment this is it.
If you have a particular image you want made into one, I can give it a shot. I wish I had more talent as a digital artist, but since I don't then I use images I can find and get permission when at all possible.
Thanks for stopping by.
Instructions for installing any of my splash screens:
1) Remove everything after the "-" from the filename so it is just "PC36IMG" or if you have file extensions set to show, it will read "PC36IMG.zip".
2) Copy it to the root of your SD Card.
3) Reboot the phone into bootloader.
4) Bootloader should automatically detect it and ask you if you want to install it, hit Volume up for yes.
5) A couple seconds later it will prompt you to reboot with another Volume up, go fer it.
6) Your new splash screen will show up, the peasants will rejoice, and peace will reign across the land. Well, can't guarantee all that, but look for one of the above to happen.
Some examples of whats going on in this thread:
Synergy Splash Screens
So this is the set that I took the image from whiterider13 with his permission, they turned out pretty decent.
Some other Rom Splash Screens
More Synergy Screens
Miscellaneous Splash Screens
Testing out this style, seems to have gotten good reception so far. Will probably tweak it so it doesn't look quite so hacked together a little later, but let me know what you think. I'll probably start sorting through a green and red version later.
Three more I just wrapped up, feels like a step backwards from my last one, but they look decent. I think I did them just to offer variety more than anything.

Alright, I gotta admit, these look pretty slick in my opinion, despite the simplicity. Getting the color to change right was a big pain, and I'm still going to work on getting the blue one to look a hair cleaner than it does, but overall I think they look good. Hope you all enjoy.

Digital Green
Hello again forum. So I spent quite a bit more time on this than the original blue one, I tried pretty hard to make sure it doesn't look too "busy". I'm still not entirely satisfied with it, but it appears to be coming along as a work in progress. However I do think it looks pretty cool for what it is right now. Let me know what you guys think though, thanks.
Crafted a simple signature, nothing fancy, just functional.
Great job on the splash screens....I have personally chosen the green swoosh splash as my splash screen...Thanks and once again, great work.

Actually that is kind of the plan, gotta fix the way Gimp is processing the font, clean everything up a bit, make a couple of small tweaks to it, generate the red version and reverse produce the final product for the other colors, then animate it. I'm also tempted to do a "noir" version of each splash screen cause I know there's anti-color folks out there. I don't want them to be simple black, white and shades of gray....I'm looking for them to maintain the same feel, just a lot more subtly. But that will be a bit further down the road. Thanks though for all the praise.

Hi everyone,
I had updated my Nexus S to android 4.1 jelly bean yesterday. I am satisfied with everything but the loss of my turn-off screen animation that previously we had for Nexus S (the oldschool TV turn-off animation).
I would like to know if this is a bug during my installation (the installation went smoothly) or android 4.1 purposely removed such animation? Such screen-off effect is one of the reasons that I bought my Nexus S and I am not willing to see it gone. I had searched the forum but so far did not see anyone facing such problem. Kindly advise me what to do.
Thanks everyone in advance!

I just updated to jellybean myself and i did notice that that tv animation was gone too. So after some digging U have to go to settings scoll down to developer options and then down to window animation scale and change it to 1x to bring back that tv on/off screen animation back. Also I kept the Transition animation scale at 5x for apple iphone type of visuals.
The only thing that i do not know what is does is the option called Animator duration scale. I played with it from 5x up to 10x and i have not noticed any difference
If anyone knows a explanation would be nice.
I think it may be the "fade in" animations. I'm still trying to figure it out, but I'm pretty sure that's what those are.

That's seriously one of the reasons you bought the Nexus S??? It's a cool effect, but to be one of the deciding factors of your purchase.....??
Hi everyone,
Thanks for all replies!
For the tv animation it is just one of the many factors that help me in making my purchase, it is just like the choice between super-lcd and super-amoled can be a deciding factor for someone, but not for someone else who cannot see the difference or who does not care. During my comparison regardless of price my friends told me that galaxy s2 has better spec, better screen, better camera etc. but I chose nexus s over s2 for also reasons that the s2 model in my country could not be updated to latest android without rooting.
For the developer option method it works for me too, but I really dnt like all the extra efforts and time needed to solve these problems, it makes me feel like google doesn't take care of its old customers (my perception only).
If Google didn't take care of it's old customers you wouldn't have the JB update to complain about in the first place...
A TV animation just seems like a trivial thing to complain about in all honesty. Its a known bug on the SLCD model and no software is perfect. And is it really that hard to tap a few buttons to fix some settings? I mean, seriously.

Exactly. The OP put in more effort to make this thread than it took to re-enable the screen off animation.

I just wish I knew why adjusting the rate at which those animations occur seems to somehow fix the issue for some. My complaint was more along the lines of people not wanting to take the effort to attempt to even get into the menu to find those settings. Of course hitting buttons ain't gonna solve anything . Well in most case it wouldn't work. Haha. Speaking of, when I originally disabled my animations, my app drawers animations stopped. Never did that in ICS.
My animation still works...
So to clear up the confusion: This bug only concerns the SLCD version. For those who don't know it, AirKernel seems to fix the problem, it did it for me and I'm running Euroskanks CM10.

the effect will only works on nexus s amoled screen, those models with SclearLCD like i9023...you can't see the effect because the timing of turn off the back light happen earlier than the effect. The TV off effect is actually there, but without backlight, we can't see it...you will see it sometimes, because of delay of the backlight due to hardware slow response... have a nice day, guys... pass this to google team and xda team, this will help them easily fix it ...!
So I'm playing around with bootanimations and threw this one together. Problem is though, it's choppy and stutters.
Is this because the animation is too much for my CPU?
Any specs on having it nice and smooth?
Qkster? Andros?...............Bueler?
Not a huge deal, but would be cool.
Re: [Q] Bootanimation too much for CPU?
Well, first off, nice animation. My guess is that you have too many frames for too little of motion.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Re: [Q] Bootanimation too much for CPU?
Good idea. I guess I'll try and take out every other frame. I just kinda figured that more frames = smoother, as long as I was under a certain amount. But what ur saying makes sense.
Attempt #2 coming up.

Build.prop addition:
Debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
Well, first I tried the build.prop modification from 0 to 1.
Unfortunately the animation wasn't visible during boot up. The phone still started fine, just blank screen where the animation should be.
Then I tried removing every other frame.
That made the animation and the stuttering run faster.
Thanks guys

Damn I should have known. I thought it looked like I was turning off the boot animation. But I just did what you said anyway.
Nice one. :good: You got me.
There was something in the desc.txt I messed up. An extra space or something. I got it nice and smooth now.
Only 14 frames and because the background was black anyway, I reduced the canvas size of the images to from 480x800 to 480x480.
Made the image size in the desc.txt file 480 480 also.
Thought I would share my custom bios bootanimation to infinity pad users. I search all over but there was none made for the TF700 so I decided to do some editing based off from the OP by frysee and luna_c66 post #6 so thanks to them. I made 2 versions of bios boot with the respected specs of the TF700
put on the internal storage/sdcard
copy to /system/media and set permission rw--r--r
reboot and enjoy
BIOS 1
BIOS 2
Here's are the screenshots made with an online gif generator. Didn't turn out as clear as I hope but still somewhat legible. Both bios has the green ascii android at the end before bootup

Thanks for this bootanimation it is really nice. However my TF700T is a little different to the specs listed in the animation so I would like a version for 64GB internal storage and also for Android 4.3 rather than 4.2.1.
Is there any chance you could post resources you used to make this (PSD's or XCF's etc) to allow these small adjustments to be easily made? Alternatively if you would make a version of the animation with these adjustments it would be much appreciated.
Thank You a lot

Try this and see if it works now
Thank you so much. IT WORKS!!! Just in time for Dr. Who's 50th anniversary episode which airs today. Awesome.
Is there a way to slow down the tardis going through the wormhole, to make it last longer , so that it takes up more of the boot time?
Thank you so much for your help. You Rock

Go into the zip and edit the desc.txt file. Change the fps number 30 to which ever you feel fit
I Played around with the fps # . tried 15, 10, 5. the only one that works is 30. Thanks again for your help, vnphatbuddha

Hey mate, i made a cromi boot animation a while ago but never put it together, i made it mainly to test out my wildly overclocked FX-8350's rendering capabilities, but maybe you would like to use it.
Heres a preview:
I randomly found the files on my dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/s/jw2f1qupc5itr02/Cromi(jpeg).rar i rendered them do a jpeg as i wanted to keep size to a minimum, The files in the "ToBeLooped" were meant to be looped at the end but i couldnt remember how to do it..
Not my best but someone might like it
