(6/1)This is Darchs newest updated rom, plus the stuff i like to roll with. Darch battery fix and vvm are already built in. This is the GOOGLE version, meaning gbits are built in as well. For screens look below. Ive changed nothing visually so no new screenies.

(old)Ive been exp battery issues after a days use, and im trying to narrow down the problem...Im working on an update with the new rom and fixes because i would like to run this but i need my battery life too like my DamageRs.....I modded them to have awesome battery, but the same mods on an aosp dont have the same effect, same with my opengl hacks....IM WORKING ON THE UPDATE, bear with me, im only making it better
After taking all of the comments from last nite into consideration, and staying up all nite to finish, I updated the mod with a new launcher, i modded the helix, made two more fonts for the two ver. KKD_MODv3.2G and KKD_MODv3.2lite I fixed EVERYTHING i had comments on....Also i added 5 fonts in update.zip form for anyone in case they dont like what they see....
Ive fallen into a bad habit where i CANNOT flash a rom w/o modding it to my liking......So this is a beta v. MOD of darch's latest and greatest...I HAD to try it. Made me jump Damage Ship for a sec. Still testing, but afict everything is working nicely. Im touching it up now and ill put up the beta in a bit....This is not a beta to me, but ill wait till i get a little feedback to polish it.
This rom has EVERYTHING In DarchDroid + some of XTRA goodies we can ALL use. This is the rom i made for myself, i NEVER used the original.....Im happy to share with you my modded ver. of DarkDroid. I call it DarchKingKang(had to do it).....DDK.v2 for short....

I agree you do good work, but your fonts completely turn me away from trying every one of your ROMS...

TBH though, I hate the stock white notification bar from AOSP builds.. looks especially goofy to me with roms like this where everything else is themed darker

You could take the rom or theme and put your own fonts in before flashing.

I wasn't bashing anybody and i agree the fonts are pretty bad but the theme otherwise looks good. I just said you guys could always install your own fonts.

does this still have the battery drain issue?

Wow those fonts would give me a headache but outside of that great job, always glad to see more roms around the forums! I'll give it a shot.

Me neither, it was my beta and that font looked cool on my pc, in my post up there i explained the whole situation and that YOU WONT GET THIS FONT in giant letters...... Just sick of looking @ stock anything and i like to experiment...Most ppl dont like what i do.I do it for myself, and the ppl that follow what i do, really like my stuff..... Sort of a LOVE HATE deal....

Sorry about that but its your loss.... If youd looked into what i do youd see i include the stock font with any of my mods because few ppl like mine, and i explained the pictured font in the op...You should really try one and flash one of my update zip stock fonts.....You shouldnt let font stop you from flashing ANY rom, you might miss something really sweet. I have ppl that hate red but ran my red theme till i up'd somthing new because they appreciate what i do.....Sorry youd let a update.zip for stock font stop you from trying something new...Not really looking for fans anyway, just maybe a few ppl that enjoy my mods as much as i do, and i achieved that goal a LONG time ago, without about 98% of cdma hero not looking twice @ what i do, so im used to it and idrc.

Sorry you dont like my app drawer launcher, i learned how to make glass effects so i made that reflection at the top to accent the taskbar, and made the app drawer launcher indicators green to match the system highlites, and lastly i made the button presses on the swype/android hybrid kb orange to match the search bar highlight...... LOOK CLOSER...It matches and IT IS themed...if i couldnt match colors and shapes thered be no point in themeing..Also, i looked for soooo long to find statusbar_backround, and its not the same part in this rom so i couldnt change it. I really wanted to make it just like the launcher drawer originally... All the ideas are very good, but its much. harder to make them materialze.....its easy to say this stuff after you see it.... but i took the time to MAKE it....Thanks for being honest....im sure you can appreciate my honesty as well...

7 comments; 1 compliment, 1 person keeping the peace, and 5 complaints......I remember a while ago i talked to damage and he was *****ing us out for ragging on DC and what needed to be [email protected] first i thought he was a ****, but ive slowly come to understand him over time.....he was never a ****, i just had NO IDEA where he was coming from.....Itd be a little more helpful if instead of telling me what you dont like, how bout telling what you do like and put it up for me to use so i can make my stuff more accepted by you......Thats EXACTLY what id do, so i dont think its very far fetched to expect it here on a development site...negativity and complaints are soo easy to put out there, but compliments, constructive criticism, and offering a logical solution dont seem to be the common choice around here.....Sorry if anyone finds this a bit harsh, do not take offense. Thanks, happy you appreciate the work......I wish i could make my own by now as well, but for now ill settle for modding and themeing. Ive been reading about compiling source so i can build my own from aosp for about a month and i think i may be ready to dive in soon

No I understand, I've tried doing themes but with two kids it's hard to find the time anymore. I've just personally never liked the look of just the white notification bar, I prefer the Sense black style our Hero's came out of the box until we flashed them to hell and back. The launcher looks good and I get where your coming from to match the launcher to the taskbar. Overall it looks good, and unlike a lot of the other ones I like that font alot and want to try it. If anything it looks like it could stand to be smaller, but again, that's more of an Android issue considering the system resizes the base fonts for the different parts of it and the stylized fonts must be larger to give it the style.
Don't mind the complaints, there's always a place for any sort of theme or rom you can come up with. If anything maybe do a screencap with the stock font at the top of the post for comparison (and since you do provide it as well), then do the rest with the font you want to do. I think that would help with the font complaints.

I love this theme! Great work again Bill. Here's a screenshot of it in action(with a different wp). I would like to request a different look for the vibrate/silent icon, it looks out of place.

Not trying to be ocd or anything, but I noticed on the clock/weather widget the top of some letters for day/month are cut off. Not a big deal to me, just thought you should know. Thanks again for your great work.

That one I did catch, but I like the look of the clock with the larger panels more than I do the day and month. On another note, after tip toeing through the theme, several things caught my eye that I thought could be better..so, putting something new out in just a little bit..sometimEd you have to step away from it..after looking at thousands of graphics, you trend to miss things.

Okay gang, made a few adjustments to the theme, so the OP link has been updated with the new version. The only changes were cosmetic. I fixed a few things and decided that I had used the same buttons on the last 2 themes, so I changed them and the pop up windows a bit. And, reluctantly, adjusted the clock panels. A few other minor things were altered as well. Anyhoo, I hope you like it. And thank you.

Quiet today..can I assume that everything is working well, and everyone is happy with the theme?

Here are a few test splash screens - let me know if you like these or want something different.

1.) download to root of your sd card,
2.) change name to "PC36IMG" (without the quotes),
3.) boot into boot loader (turn off, volume down + power)
4.) The phone should recognize the zip and ask if you want to update
5.) select up to apply.​

Is anyone else having issues with the notification pull down? Mine will not work most of the time. It was fine for the first day, then it just stopped working. I also had a few twitches where the clock app would open up as if I touched the widget, the phone screen had not been touched for several minutes before it happened. I currently run OTA rls5 w/chopsuey, a2sd and at that time V6. I have rebooted, without luck, then used GW's wipeall, reflashed fresh downloads of rls5/chopsuey/a2sd and American Metal. Still can't pull down the notification bar. I can access by using menu/notifications, but that's it. I have not added any apps or changed anything since flashing this theme, and came from using CIWYW.

Wow...no I've never had that issue...but I will flash back to stock and try to recreate it to see if I can find the issue. Sorry that's happening to you.

Don't be sorry, I still love this theme. The best way I can explain it is, its like the touchscreen feature doesn't work, but only in the notification bar, the rest of my homescreen works fine. Thanks for looking into it, like I said, it didn't start right away, took about 24 hours for first problem to show up. Not even sure its the theme, that's why I reflashed everything just in case.

My First Boot Animation. "Fire on Fire"

I worked on this for hours. I got all the png pics right, used a gif of some flames, added the Kindle Fire boot logo, along with the "part0 and desc.txt" files. Created bootanimation.zip but no matter what I did it wouldnt show up on boot. So I was browsing around for a solution and found this tool. Worked great. I then tweaked and tweaked the size and timing trying to get it to look the best without a lot of hiccups. It does have a few delays right at the beginning but I got it the best I could. I think it came out pretty good considering Ive never created anything for android before. Im pretty much a follow tutorial only guy. But I got in the mood tonight to try to create and contribute. So anyway feel free to check it out.

Just make a copy of your original bootanimation at system/media, rename my Fire on Fire bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip then place it in same folder at system/media, reboot and enjoy (I Hope )

No offense taken. Hey call me strange, but I actually like the Fires wallpapers. I love the whole OS and launcher. Ive tried other custom roms like cyanogen, but ended up going back to stock. Just bought a Xoom today for under $300. So Ill most likely be playing around with that. But I havent stopped with the Fire. I had another boot animation all done, but ended up scrapping it. Everything looked great except for the logo. It was blurry. So Ill have to work on that one some more before I post it.

I have to admit, the stock ones have a nice resolution to them. Some are really nice and then the others are just meh. I do hope you keep at it. Those are neat. I want one of a dragon coming out and setting the word "Kindle" on fire. That would win me in a second

Yay! I had an idea That would be neat. Maybe replace the fire on that dragon with the animation you already have...not sure how that works. I'll leave that up to you

[GUIDE][TOOL] Creating splash images for the HTC Hero

I know this is a bit late in the HTC Hero game but I still have mine and I still mess around with it a lot and while it wasnt until recently that I decided to see if I could dig up info on changing the splash screen and found some info and decided that I would create a nice little tool just to make it a bit quicker for me so I thought I would share it.
Huge than you to tehdarkknight for his original tutorial. Without it this would have not been possible.
All I did was simply create a easy to use batch file to make converting the images and automatically renaming them much easier for everyone.

What is a Splashscreen?
The splashscreen is the image that shows up before recovery/your ROM's bootscreen/etc... By default, it is the white screen with green HTC lettering (if you have flashed Sprint's 2.1 release.)
The method used here is for flashing the HERCIMG.zip via the bootloader (HBoot)
All of the instructions are included in the download and its pretty self explanatory.

Thanks for providing this. I find that bright white HTC screen rather annoying. It would be great to replace it with something far more muted.
By the way, have you ever replaced the boot animation screen that follows? I discovered UOT Kitchen, but I've been a bit leery to try it for fear of wrecking the bootloader and becoming stuck.. I'm on CM 7.2 with TWRP and the last CM ROM supported on UOT is 7.1. Plus, it only mentions being compatible with CWM 3. The boot animation doesn't require modifying any APK files, so that's one thing that is less concerning. But... you never know, until you hear about someone having tried it successfully.
Incidentally, I'm finding CM7.2 with TWRP to be a terrific combination. The phone is quite a lot better than it was. I missed having HTC Sense, but Fancy Widgets provides a nearly identical clock/weather widget so the home screen looks good. And of course functionally, you're so much more liberated with CM7. I wish I'd done this over a year ago!

UOT Kitchen won't "wreck your bootloader."
The boot animation is just a zip file in /system/media. It will either work or not. It won't stop anything.
Everybody has used UOT, you're just a litttttle bit late to the game.

Yeah, I do realize that I'm very late to the party... I missed a lot of the excitement with new ROMs and the tension in the early stages of getting things to work right. But on the flipside, a lot of the work has already been done making it easy for those who show up later. I do have a few questions about UOT Kitchen, as there's not a lot of info provided on the website. I know a series of GIF files wouldn't cause any harm, but I just worried that the other files that direct their usage might not be compatible. It's good to know this isn't the case. In retrospect, it makes sense that Android would be more robust and simply skip any incompatible scripting like that and proceed to normal boot.
Can you use UOT kitchen to generate font updates and various indicator replacements on the Hero with CM 7.2? Do you have to select "Amend scripting" versus "Edify scripting"? Concerning Cyanbread.apk and Androidian.apk, which one is preferable or required to upload so that the theme update works on the Hero? Lastly, is there a particular thread you recommend reading that provides a lot of useful tips and examples on using UOT Kitchen for the Hero?

[Q] Purely for customization

Hello everyone,( oh and please move this if there is a more appropriate location for my questions) I have recently gotten into romming due to the just... eww of the stock tmobile t679's well... everything...
what am I running now? I was swapping around a few different roms and have settled down on two I like pretty well which are pacman for jellybean 4.2 and baked blackbean 4.2. At this exact moment I'm on the baked. I have a couple questions about some customizations I'd like to do (basically have done for me so I can just apply them as I am not really talented in the ways of photo manipulation) and one question about hardware buttons.
Starting with the hardware buttons, the one thing I miss from the stock rom is the "touch light duration" feature, as being on a samsung with hardware touch buttons I have come to enjoy leaving the lights on as long as my screen is active. Is there still a way to do this? on ANY rom, or could there be some work around? I really don't like the soft button idea as they take up too much of my screen. (yes I have tried it) Please and thank you for any advice on that front.
Now on to the fun and colorful part. I very much enjoy the cm10 bootanimation and I've seen a couple images of it in other colors. What I would like, if someone was so awesome as to put it together for me a custom color changing version with my name in the middle. I can pull up the image with the colors I like if anyone decides to tackle this. (I know how to apply the new bootanimation, just need it made)
The other thing I would like to change is my boot splash, not that I don't love what the custom rommers out there have made for all of us to enjoy, but the team insomnia logo just isn't my cup of tea. I would love something a bit more... purple and girly. Again I have an image in mind if anyone wants to make it into an easily flashable or otherwise installable format. I have no idea how to do this one.

i wanna say that there should be a option under display probably on most roms on how to change the duration. if not Cyanogenmod should have that option i 75% sure but im not on CM anymore so i wouldnt remember xD

well one person's stock trash is another one's stock treasure =p as far as the buttons go, I was on cm and I didn't find an option for it, but I still could have missed it and it was staring right at me. Thanks for the reply

I just went back and tried 10.1 again and still don't see a way to change button light duration. Oh well, I have the stuff I want for my bootanimation on my fb already as well as what I'd like for a bootsplash image, so send me a message and I'll link you up. =)
