Build.prop restore issue - AT&T LG G3

Finally ran into my first really dumb move today while messing with my phone (after 5 years of working with rooting and customization on android). A while back I changed one thing in my build.prop on rooted stock 4.4, but I had made a backup of the file first. Without thinking about just changing the one thing back to default, I replaced the back up file. Now my phone gets past the initial LG screen and just black after that with the flashing LED. Will the unroot method here bring my phone back to life? Pretty sure it will work as I am still on 4.4 but just want to make sure so I don't permabrick. I was planning on updating to Android L anyway so no biggee to me to lose apps and data as I have already made a backup.
EDIT: The method in question did work...flawlessly. My apologies for I should have read deeper.

[Q] Replacement On The Way. Questions Inside....

I decided to get a replacement phone to see if a newer one fixes any of my issues, but I have a few questions.
- It's rooted w/nvflash/CWM. Do I just need to use the nvflash app to replace the stock bootloader, then unroot, then factory reset?
- If I make a nandroid backup before doing this, once I get the new one, can I root it, nvflash it, and then flash my nandroid to it? Or is that not possible?
Thanks guys!
That's exactly what I just did yesterday waiting for my replacement to show up. Stock bootloader -> unroot -> factory reset. Dunno about the nandroid backup, I won't be using mine. I want to start fresh.
Nandroids are fine as long as the device your restoring is the same
Just for reference. I got the new phone, rooted/nvflash'd and restored my nandroid to the new device with no issues. I then un-nvflash'd, un-rooted, and did a factory reset to send the old one back to T-Mo.
No issues so far.
I'm on my 4th replacement and it should be arriving any minute. I just unrooted and reset, like the other person said. With the one I have arriving I'm going to root and restore from my other backup. Its very possible my friends, cheers!
I just wanted to update again and felt it wasn't necessary to start a new thread.
The replacement I got was significantly worse than my original. It was rebooting every 5-10 and sometimes it would reboot immediately upon rebooting. My rep sent me out my 2nd replacement and it has been up for 21 hours without a single reboot. This time I did not restore my Nandroid and started fresh. Like I said, just wanted to update.

[Q] Possible to root 4.1.1?

My main question is are there currently any working methods to root my phone from 4.1.1
BackStory:
I rooted my phone about 4 months ago successfully. about a month ago i started getting update notifications from VZW to update to 4.1.1 Which would have been great since i was looking forward to jellybean.
Unfortunately their update kept failing. so i decided this morning to use Synergy and just run a custom rom. Followed all the instructions and everything went very smoothly while playing around with my new rom i decided to reboot to test the speed of the boot time. upon reboot im greeted by the VZW soft brick screen.
So i then followed the instructions listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030
To restore my phone to factory default. which was fine i don't really mind losing my data nothing that isn't backed up on Google.
I decided to fully update the phone and then try to re-install the synergy rom but i cant seem to find any detailed threads on the subject.. Help?

I think i actually locked it after i finished the install. And then restarted, do softbricks occur when you re-lock your bootloader?
Also another question..is there any way to check the /system /data partitions from inside the phone (terminal app maybe?) are correctly set to r/w over r/o (i don't like unplanned installs )
Soft bricks always occur on a locked bootloader. There are file managers that can do that like solid explorer.

Need help - soft-bricked phone and can't recover

Ok, I'm having some major issues here and hope someone can help. I seem to be "soft-bricked." My Maxx will boot up, gets to the droid graphic (right before it normally gets to the unlock screen), screen dims and capacitive buttons light up, then it just pulses brighter every 10 seconds or so. Once, after sitting for a while, a voice said "Loss of service."
History:
1. Was rooted, unrooted to get the OTA, re-rooted. Everything was fine.
2. Got tired of the wireless charging sound, so I applied the fix noted here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450085&page=3
3. Also had Xposed installed with NFCUnlock and GravityBox.
4. Was running into issues with apps randomly losing root access, and the wireless charging sound would come back, so I downgraded Xposed to the previous version as recommended in another thread.
5. Also was using DelayedUnlock app, so I disabled USB Debugging as recommended.
6. Still faced issues with apps losing root access, so I decided to restore the apk I replaced in #2 with the backup I made. Rebooted phone and am soft-bricked (I guess).
7. Downloaded the latest FXZ (http://sbf.droid-developers.org/obake/list.php) and used HouseofMoto (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450702) to flash it, no help. Deleted the <step operation="getvar" var="max-download-size" /> line as recommended in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2416478&page=6) and flashed again, still doesn't work.
I posted this in another thread in General, but was afraid it would get lost in the thread and wasn't sure that thread was appropriate for my request for help. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Nevermind, impatience got the best of me and I factory reset my phone, so I'm back up and running again. Hated to do it as I didn't want to lose all my stuff, but hopefully I can get it re-rooted and restore my TB backups. A little worried about re-rooting, though.

Just in case anyone else has similar issues and reads this, I believe after trial and error I found the culprit. The DelayedLock app seems to be the issue causing my brick. Will be avoiding this paid app, sure wish I could get a refund on it.

TWRP backups not recognized

Let me start by saying that I am not new to rooting and flashing firmware, its just been a while since I last did it. I've had a nexus 5 for a few months with sprint in the US. I continually have reception issues and dropped calls so I took the phone in to a store. Before I could do that I had to reset everything to stock. I had no trouble doing any of that. I made a complete backup of my ROM before I did all that using TWRP. I went to the store and they told me to turn off lte in order to reduce dropped calls. After the I got home I set to work re-rooting and unlocking my bootlaoder. However when I went to restore in TWRP it would not recognize the backup even though it had been made only a few hours before. I spent several hours trying to get TWRP to recognize the backup. Whenever I navigated to the directory containing the backup the directory was always empty. I even tried zipping the backup and flashing it but it did not work. Eventually I decided to cut my losses and move on. I plan on taking the phone back to sprint tomorrow because I still have horrible reception issues. I really want to avoid having to go through the whole ordeal again but I am not sure what I did wrong. The only thing I can think of is that immediately after making the backup I moved it off the device onto my laptop but did not modify it in any way. I had some experience with CWM back when I had my old HP touchpad but none with TWRP, however they don't seem that different. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you put your backups in the correct sub-directory?
Should be something like: TWRP/BACKUPS/87095jgjg9034/nameofyourbackup

Yes, I did. I even tried renaming the backup to "backup" and still had no luck.
Well, this is interesting. I went to Sprint today and they weren't much help but before I went there I reset everything back to stock. I made a backup yesterday and when I got home I put it on my phone and it was recognized immediately by TWRP and I was able to restore it. Not sure what I did wrong last time, if I did anything wrong at all.

Yeah, that's a bit odd. Glad you got it working now.
Sent from some device using XDA Premium mobile app

Some times i'm a special snowflake.

Just wanted to share my moment of "boy am i stupid". So i just got the new Note 5 and was super stoked to get it rooted and loaded up with a custom rom. This was my first android since i switched back from iOS. Trying to be very careful not to brick/soft brick my phone i made sure to get all kinds of backups and stock roms/kernels so if need be i can start all over. So i made a CWM backup of my data to restore after i flash the new rom. I had to pull all of my backups off the phone to make space and figured i would just load them back on once the OS is up and running. I get everything going and proceed to do my data recovery. BOOM No files found. I heart dropped out of my chest. What did i do wrong, what did i mess up, how am i going to get all my data back? Well I went right to DuckDuckGo (turned away from google) and started searching for answers. No less then 2 hours later i still have no luck. Well messing around in the recovery system i managed to soft brick my phone and had to fix that first. Well thanks to jovy23 putting aroma in his Rom i stumbled across a file browser and decided to peek around to find my backup file and see if it would help. Low and Behold i found my problem... a simple file location mis match. I had moved my backup from the computer into /sdcard/0/clockworkmod/backup where it should have just been in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup. I felt so dumb i did not even think that the recovery software would not use the emulated sdcard. So i felt very silly and am now restoring all my data.
