Windows Phone is in a totally different language (C# I think) - there's nothing you could really port and the Roku control protocol is documented on their website.

Roku WiFi FC on Toshiba Thrive

Thanks for a great program! I use it all the time, since the remote is persistently lost at my house.
I just fired version version 2.10 (as reported by Titanium Backup) up on my Toshiba Thrive (HC 3.2), which was hardware locked (with a switch) in landscape mode, and got an Force Close each time. Suspecting the rotation to be the issue, I unlocked rotation, and started Roku WiFi in portrait mode. Voila! It worked correctly. (I did a similar test on my Droid Bionic GB 2.3.4 - no problem.) With the app still running, I then unlocked the tablet, rotated the tablet to landscape, locked it, and checked again. Strangely enough, no FC when switching back and forth between another app and Roku Wifi. (Roku WiFi always came up in portrait.) However, if I actually exit the app and restart, FC comes back.
As a separate issue, please note that the auto-find feature doesn't work on my network (on neither the Thrive nor the Bionic). I have 4 Roku units, which Fing sees just fine in network discovery, and identifies by the MAC address. Manually connecting to the Roku units by IP address works perfectly.
If you are interested in suggestions, some way of accommodating multiple Roku units would be handy. At the very least, please consider pre-populating the manual connect IP address dialog with the current address so it's easier to change (rather than having to re-edit it each time).
Let me know if you'd like more debugging information to help find this problem.

[Feature Request] FireTV remote support

MXPlayer works well when sideloaded to Amazon FireTV. But there are some issues while using firetv remote (D-PAD navigation).
I'm unable to switch audio stream, subtitle, HW/SW decoder, etc.
Please improve support of D-PAD navigation .

MX Player isn't officially released for Amazon products. But perhaps the dev might look into this. @bleu8888 is this something you would consider?

Problem is common for all Android based Set Top Boxes (FireTV, old GoogleTV, recently announced Android TV, etc.) - they don't have touch interface.
These devices use remote controlls which allow to navigate with Arrows(D-PAD), Enter button and Menu button.
It is impossible - using this navigation - to reach some of MXPlayer menus: I'm unable to switch audio stream, subtitle, HW/SW decoder, etc.

So it looks like there's some level of built in Android API support for this. Maybe the MX Player controls can adopt to it?

That would be very helpful. MX Player works great on the Fire TV. The only feature that is missing for my purposes is the ability to see how much time is left in a video by way of either hitting the down button or pause. The down button does nothing and hitting pause only displays a pause icon on the upper left hand portion of the screen, as seen below. It would be nice to have access to this information. Thanks.

The MX Player Test Build D-PAD navigation is improved and working great on the Fire TV. It is nice to be able to access HUD/OSD by clicking the Select button during video playback. Brightness and HW/SW decoder options have been added as well. Nice touch. looking forward to any further development of MX Player for the Fire TV.

Could you add small improvements for it.
Now you handle KEYCODE_DPAD_CENTER to show menu/pause button.
But some manufacturers use KEYCODE_ENTER as code for DPAD-CENTER button, could you add support for this event.

BUMP for that feature.
I have media player box with IR remote control in which central button (OK button) acts like ENTER keyboard button. That would be awesome if MX Player could see it as DPAD_CENTER.
Or maybe option to play/pause using ENTER button?

How do you install MX Player Pro on the FireTV? I always get license errors and since I don't have a rooted device, I can't access the Google Player Store. I think you need it to make this work.

Porting MTCD firmware feature into Android TV Box

Hello everybody,
I'm an Android advanced user but beginner developer. I did and applied already some tweaks and I would like to go a step further with my project.
I did a Volvo RTI GPS retrofit replacing the original integration and replacing the old 6,5 inches TFT display (low resolution and analog only) by a 800x480 HDMI display (AT065TN14 from Inolux) with a resistive touchscreen. I added some inputs like the rear camera on the AV input and the source is automatically switched when rear gear is engaged.
The integration was hard but the result is very good!
Connected on HDMI, I use a Chinese Android TV box Beelink M18 that is strong enough to have a reactive unit. I keep the original Volvo radio Unit and the Android TV sends the audio via Bluetooth that allow the avrcp to contol the application with the steering wheel buttons.

The problem is the Android TV box firmware. By default it is not done for a radio unit and not at all for a 800x480 display. I was able to tweak the resolution and DPI but there are a lot of limitations:
- The lower ribbon with virtual keys doesn't support more than 199dpi (220 is optimal)
- The GPS drivers are not included (added by me)
- The mouse cursor is too small (I didn't found yet how to increase the size and change the color)
- My 3g dongle doesnt' work (Huawei), something is conflicting
- I use xposed module to increase DPI of applications.
I have seen that Ownice or Joying interfaces are very nice and ergonomic for car application, app switching and so on.
I would like to port some part of the rom like the notification ribbon, the interface setting and why not the 3G dongle drivers and interface modules.
I would like to get from you some recommandations about how to start and with cooking tools are adapted to my needs.
Of course I can give details information about how I transformed my poor very old Volvo GPS (en of 90's) to and Android system. It can be applied to the Volvo S60/V70/S80/XC90 1999 to 2007 and why not for S40/V50.

I got already a lot of information about what I have to modify.
My idea is to move the software key to the status bar and increase its size. Reduce the lower bar but keep a small one because the low part of my screen is not easy to access (due to the dashboard).
I know that now I have to customize framework-res.apk and systemui.apk. I already extracted it via apktool and stated to modify it.
I would like to extract the content of update.img from the ownice build. Which tool runing on Win7/10 can I use?
My idea is to build a TWRP package for my TV box including:
- TV box firmware base (boot.img and the main system files) --> I have available
- New framework-res.apk --> I have to do
- New systemui.apk --> I have to do
- USB GPS driver and system setting to use it as integrated gps --> I have available
- USB Modem driver and system setting to use it as integrated modem --> port from Joying or ownice FW. As worst case integrate ppp3 widget.
- Custom shutdown trigger when pressing power button (triggered by the carpc power supply) --> I have to do to replace the xposed module currently used
Remains:
- Find a smart active task switcher (switch between waze and Play music application) and avoid press home --> deploy status bar --> click to the notification of the application.
- Get an always visible left vertical bar with the favourite applications (Waze, maps, Here maps, Google play music)

Nothing happens when I touch equaliser option
My phone model no. Is C103(Coolpad Cool 1),stock ROM

God job man, my only choice for the music love!
Really like the YouTube search option, makes finding and sharing tunes a breeze!
I have few suggestions though:
Media Scanner to rescan the external SD card so the player can discover the newly downloaded content. The native scanner only scans the card at boot up.
Rotation support, I really dislike when apps don't support landscape orientation. First of all, landscape offers wider view for which comes in handy to see long song names and second, it's rather annoying having to rotate the phone every time when switching between apps that have different rotation support.
Now playing open window options availablity, can you add a favourite button and direct YouTube song search there so switching to the current playlist section is uneeded?
Otherwise this is one of the very best music apps there is and I would love to throw you a little donation, specially if you could implement some of these suggestions! ?

[Bug Report] SMB Missing

Thank you for the continued work on MX Player, SMB is a user-centered feature that I am grateful to have!
With the latest old versions (before 1.35) I'm not able to access SMB in the TV interface. Using a hand held remote will not navigate properly from the homescreen anymore. Also, pressing left on a remote within context menus like view and help will exit the app. Hopefully, this version of the Ui will not be left behind while the rest of the app continues to grow.

I can also confirm the 2 bugs descriped above on an Android-TV:
1. not possible to add a SMB share - there's simply no menu for this available
2. navigating to left while in submenus closes the app

you can say something about when the SMB Share function for the Andoid TV version (NvidiaTV Shield) is to be expected from MX Player or when it will be implemented.
Would like to be wide for this feature to buy the Pro version.

MX version 1.21 does not have any of these navigation bugs and allows access to SMB. Would be nice to have these in the updated version! :fingers-crossed:

I can confirm, that the latest versions don't have the local network option.
I hope that this feature comes back with an update.

The latest version is 1.34.0

The homescreen of MX Player on androidTV is fixed! Local network can be reached again!
There are some quirks with recent versions (1.35.0), specifically during playback
⦿ The "rewind 10s" button can't be reached without touchscreen
⦿ Navigating from right to left along the bottom row of buttons doesn't work as expected; selection will leave the bottom row and jump into the progress bar, causing video to leap back or forward
⦿ Black bars along top & bottom of letterbox video removed when using HW+ decoder, stretching the video height
⦿ More of a plea than a bug, but changing "key up/down action" to brightness has no effect on androidTV. It's not uncommon for TV users to find they have been accidentally using reduced volume in MX for a length of time. An option to disable key up/down would be useful

Local Network (SMB) is not displayed on the NVIDIA TV Shield, MX Player 1.35 version, so back to the 1.20 beta.
