MXPlayer works well when sideloaded to Amazon FireTV. But there are some issues while using firetv remote (D-PAD navigation).
I'm unable to switch audio stream, subtitle, HW/SW decoder, etc.
Please improve support of D-PAD navigation .
MX Player isn't officially released for Amazon products. But perhaps the dev might look into this. @bleu8888 is this something you would consider?

Problem is common for all Android based Set Top Boxes (FireTV, old GoogleTV, recently announced Android TV, etc.) - they don't have touch interface.
These devices use remote controlls which allow to navigate with Arrows(D-PAD), Enter button and Menu button.
It is impossible - using this navigation - to reach some of MXPlayer menus: I'm unable to switch audio stream, subtitle, HW/SW decoder, etc.
Some details regarding D-PAD navigation:

So it looks like there's some level of built in Android API support for this. Maybe the MX Player controls can adopt to it?

That would be very helpful. MX Player works great on the Fire TV. The only feature that is missing for my purposes is the ability to see how much time is left in a video by way of either hitting the down button or pause. The down button does nothing and hitting pause only displays a pause icon on the upper left hand portion of the screen, as seen below. It would be nice to have access to this information. Thanks.

The MX Player Test Build D-PAD navigation is improved and working great on the Fire TV. It is nice to be able to access HUD/OSD by clicking the Select button during video playback. Brightness and HW/SW decoder options have been added as well. Nice touch. looking forward to any further development of MX Player for the Fire TV.

Could you add small improvements for it.
Now you handle KEYCODE_DPAD_CENTER to show menu/pause button.
But some manufacturers use KEYCODE_ENTER as code for DPAD-CENTER button, could you add support for this event.

BUMP for that feature.
I have media player box with IR remote control in which central button (OK button) acts like ENTER keyboard button. That would be awesome if MX Player could see it as DPAD_CENTER.
Or maybe option to play/pause using ENTER button?
How do you install MX Player Pro on the FireTV? I always get license errors and since I don't have a rooted device, I can't access the Google Player Store. I think you need it to make this work.

However, OpenSubtitles can solve most of the cases, but there's another reliable source: Subscene.(com)
Would it be much if I asked you to add that subtitle source for searches as well? Or, if that does not happen, do you intend to add other sources more than OS?

I had the same question earlier.
But, unfortunately subscene doesn't provide any api to access their database. That's why it's not supported in any multimedia player.

It finds subs, no problem, but.., When the subs are not good, i try to look for Online subs, but all the time a message No subs found.
I have the MX Pro also on my Nvidea Shield 2017.
There the player works good, and i have no problems for looking online subs.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Kindly do the following and share the bug report with us. It will help us to understand the issue better.
1. Go to MX Player Settings » Development ＆ Enable "Log Opensubtitles.org Operations"
2. Then try to reproduce the issue you have mentioned.
3. When it returns with no results, immediately open menu » help » bug report. Then. save the bug report ＆ share with us.

I am running a BETA version MX Player PRO v1.7.39 on my Android media box (MINIX Neo X8-H Plus) with a Bluetooth mouse + bluetooth keyboard connected.
Right, I recently noticed that I am no longer seeing the full display of Touch controls.....
....It's sad that there are no Touch controls settings displayed when Bluetooth mouse is connected because I really wanted to configure "Touch action - Show/hide interface"

I wouldn't say "must", but rather, it's a lot easier and intuitive to look for everything related to a single issue/feature, if all the relevant comments are in the same thread, no?
P.S. this is a good idea, the whole bluetooth device support concept. It especially makes sense for tablets and Android TV devices.

Hello, my screen is a 37inch full-HD Television that does not support touch
Ok, yes, this all makes sense now why Android is treating it as such since my MINIX device outputs to an external non-interactive screen which is my Television.
Ok, so the Gestures does not need to be supported here unless maybe make enabling Gestures as a hidden setting in the main settings which is not important now.
Currently during normal video playback in MX when I mouse-click on the screen with my bluetooth mouse, the video would pause and then the playbar interface would show and I really want to configure it to disable the actual pause/resume
What I'm thinking should be certainly supported in this menu is these three:
1. "Touch action: Show interface, Show interface>Pause/resume" etc etc
2. "Lock mode"
3. "Show interface when locked screen is touched"

Because I really need to configure "Touch action: Show interface...." setting from here as I wanted to disable the pause/resume option

I have just tested it on my Android TV media box. It's working nicely. Many thanks.
Just one tiny suggestion, if Android is instructing MX player that it is not a touch device, then maybe the listed "Gestures" (seek position, video zoom ...etc) should be unchecked by default for better distinction. I'll leave that up to you to decide. Just a thought.

Currently, we always need a custom codec to decode some of the sound formats, whereas for devices like Android TV (Nexus Player, NVidia Shield TV) and the ones with HDMI output it would be much better to output the sound track as it is. Chances are that the receiver is able to decode it anyway, probably even better than MX Player (with a proper multi-channel mapping), and the player wouldn't need to waste the CPU cycles for that.
This feature is currently available in some other players (e.g. Kodi and VLC), even in the open-source, so it should be really easy to implement.
I support this feature request as well. It can be something for @bleu8888 to look at when he is able.
Please add AC3/DTS pass though over HDMI like in KODI ant it's forks. . It's important for tv boxes. Now for ac3/dts I must use KODI player.

We are already working on it. If there is no major issues which needs any emergency patch , we will try to make it available on the next version.
I have the version 1.7.28 ARMv7 NEON of MX Player pro installs on my receiver Pinacle 9600 HD the problem is that the application does not change the audio tracks, and if I install a newer version the codec HW does not work more. And if I do the update system of the receiver it gives me the same version of mx player soft that the sound does not work and if I update mx player I get the same problems precident

The logs doesn't contain any playback information. logs must be connected immediately after reproducing the issue.

It work like a charm. I can resize PiP.
1 bug though.
Subtitle not show when using custom PiP mode.
If I use native PiP subtitle show just fine.

I've just tested the MX player 1.15.4 already.
It can be resizable, but it's too simple. Can you add full function of MX Player in PIP mode like full screen mode ( adjust volume, bright, fast forward / backward, etc...)
When I chat or work on other windows, I can not adjust anything on PiP mode, must return to full screen mode to change, it's not convenience.
If you know other app - Lua Player Pro, PIP mode of Lua Player Pro is really excellent. I hope you can check & develop PIP mode of MX player more professional

It seems that you are using Android's native PIP mode. As it doesn't support the resizing, pinch gestures may not work with it. Could you try enabling Custom PIP Pop-up and check again? It will work for you.

Thank you for the continued work on MX Player, SMB is a user-centered feature that I am grateful to have!
With the latest old versions (before 1.35) I'm not able to access SMB in the TV interface. Using a hand held remote will not navigate properly from the homescreen anymore. Also, pressing left on a remote within context menus like view and help will exit the app. Hopefully, this version of the Ui will not be left behind while the rest of the app continues to grow.

I can also confirm the 2 bugs descriped above on an Android-TV:
1. not possible to add a SMB share - there's simply no menu for this available
2. navigating to left while in submenus closes the app

you can say something about when the SMB Share function for the Andoid TV version (NvidiaTV Shield) is to be expected from MX Player or when it will be implemented.
Would like to be wide for this feature to buy the Pro version.

The homescreen of MX Player on androidTV is fixed! Local network can be reached again!
There are some quirks with recent versions (1.35.0), specifically during playback
⦿ The "rewind 10s" button can't be reached without touchscreen
⦿ Navigating from right to left along the bottom row of buttons doesn't work as expected; selection will leave the bottom row and jump into the progress bar, causing video to leap back or forward
⦿ Black bars along top & bottom of letterbox video removed when using HW+ decoder, stretching the video height
⦿ More of a plea than a bug, but changing "key up/down action" to brightness has no effect on androidTV. It's not uncommon for TV users to find they have been accidentally using reduced volume in MX for a length of time. An option to disable key up/down would be useful

Local Network (SMB) is not displayed on the NVIDIA TV Shield, MX Player 1.35 version, so back to the 1.20 beta.
