New! Actual graphics and styles!
This app controls a Roku streaming video player over wifi using Roku's External Control Protocol. It's the best (possibly the only working) free one on the market and can even do a few things the paid apps can't!
Features:
Find and connect to your player in less than 10 seconds without having to manually enter its address - even works with players connected over wifi!
Roku ECP - way more reliable than the old Telnet protocol some other remote apps use
Full 12-button control including Back and Instant Replay
List and launch channels directly from your phone
Automatically jump to search screens using your phone's search button*
Enter text on your phone and send it to the player - never use the on-screen letter picker again!
*Most channels support this on most screens. Hulu is a notable exception

Changelog:
2.3 - Improved layouts and graphics
2.2 - Improved auto-scan
2.1 - Added search, channel picker, and text entry
2.0 - Added auto-detect, multi-player support, optimized layouts, and more!
1.1 - Fixed a problem where some screens on the Roku player (like Netflix menus) wouldn't respond to commands.
Updated to 1.1. Now works way better with Netflix.
MAJOR update! Auto-detect, better screen support, and more! If you thought it sucked before, it's worth another look because I sucked out all the suck.
Updated again. Now you can pick channels, search, and enter text directly from your phone!
Updated to 2.2. This adds a few UI tweaks and methods to deal with some unreproducible force closes on startup I'm seeing in around 1% of my users. If you get one, please report it with as much information as possible!
Updated to 2.3. Finally added a custom layout and graphics, so now it's not quite as ugly.
Very cool app.
Would you consider releasing open source so others could port it to Windows Phone, etc.?

Windows Phone is in a totally different language (C# I think) - there's nothing you could really port and the Roku control protocol is documented on their website.
Quite useful, thankss!
what's the difference between the free version and the pro version?
Would it even be possible to get this working with the games?
Love this app, thanks for your hard work. Better than the paid ones imo.

Roku WiFi FC on Toshiba Thrive
Ethan-
Thanks for a great program! I use it all the time, since the remote is persistently lost at my house.
I just fired version version 2.10 (as reported by Titanium Backup) up on my Toshiba Thrive (HC 3.2), which was hardware locked (with a switch) in landscape mode, and got an Force Close each time. Suspecting the rotation to be the issue, I unlocked rotation, and started Roku WiFi in portrait mode. Voila! It worked correctly. (I did a similar test on my Droid Bionic GB 2.3.4 - no problem.) With the app still running, I then unlocked the tablet, rotated the tablet to landscape, locked it, and checked again. Strangely enough, no FC when switching back and forth between another app and Roku Wifi. (Roku WiFi always came up in portrait.) However, if I actually exit the app and restart, FC comes back.
As a separate issue, please note that the auto-find feature doesn't work on my network (on neither the Thrive nor the Bionic). I have 4 Roku units, which Fing sees just fine in network discovery, and identifies by the MAC address. Manually connecting to the Roku units by IP address works perfectly.
If you are interested in suggestions, some way of accommodating multiple Roku units would be handy. At the very least, please consider pre-populating the manual connect IP address dialog with the current address so it's easier to change (rather than having to re-edit it each time).
Let me know if you'd like more debugging information to help find this problem.
Best regards,
-Jim

This looks pretty cool. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
Man this is really great work. I don't see why that app hasn't got any resonance yet if you think about all the tcmpc streaming approaches...
The only cons i find is that you can't chose the site you want to search (e.g. only veoh.com, or only youtube.com). A menu in which you can demand a specific site as source would be wonderful.
and then, the screen format is odd. if it ran fullscreen, most videos would fit, but this way they are either cropped or shown in the wrong size. specially in non-landscape mode.
but other than that, it works perfectly. video and audio stream very stable over wifi with my prophet annd without overclocking, which isn't the case with tcmpc and flashvideobundle.
keep up the good work, this is what people wanted for a long time, obviously
does this work over EDGE?
This is a pretty cool program. Please continue to develop it.
I have to agree with E_Shinobi though, it would be nice to have an option to only surf one type of site. Maybe add a menu for users to pick if they want to view Youtube videos or Google videos.
Is there a list of all supported sites? What other sites will we be able to view in the future? I know there are a lot of them these days.
Very nice program, but not all results show at this time. But I assume this is something you are working on. Also, if I accidently hit a key, like the start menu key, the program gets glitchy.

Theoretically, yes. However, depending on where you are, your EDGE signal might not be able to provide enough throughput to stream the video at full speed. In fact, I'm going to hazard a guess at "yes, but..." if you let the video buffer, you should be OK. I just tested the service on AT&T's EDGE in South Jersey (four bar signal), with a 15 second clip from Google Video, and it was OK, a long buffering time, a little stuttering towards the middle, but otherwise OK. I also tested it with a six minute clip from YouTube called the "Hubblecast" (Hubblecast 07, to be precise) and it stuttered a little, but that might have been the CPU being a little overloaded. After about 30 seconds, it seemed to hang. It might be just too much visual complexity, but it's also possible that EDGE just isn't fast enough to keep up. After a pause for 20 seconds or so, the video played OK, until it hung again. When I switched over to WiFi, I experienced similar results. So the problem might be the Dash just isn't fast enough to handle Atov at this early stage, or the servers are being slammed and destroying quality of service.
My biggest disappointment is the lack of a full screen option, or an option where the video is properly scaled, and not just smashed into the available space. Also, I'm using this on my Dash, and the thing seemed picky about how much RAM was available. I'm using the stock T-Mo firmware, and after running a few apps, it's hard to free up more than 5 MB or so, but that seems to be just enough.
This thread needs to be bumped.
Runs choppy on my Mogul, I think it's because of a directdraw issue with the mogul. Is there any way to change the output driver to GDI? How does it handle compression, I don't have flash installed, and it still streams. I would love to hear some more details on how the program actually works.
Dustin
running quite well on my wizard sometimes a little choppy, also couldnt work out how to get full screen but that was probably just me.
On my tornado, when the video is playing, I can't stop it, it just hanged while the video is playing.
Pressing home button, I can see the home screen blinking behind the video, but then late the video overlap it back
have been looking for somthing like this for some time so will defiantly be giving it a go thanks

Last Friday I uploaded my Android app Paperless List to the Market (UK only). It's a shopping list application driven by the Tesco API . It has the usual scan barcode and search functions but with some unique features:
-Horizontal swipe gestures (only on Android 1.6 or above) or context menu to cross off items
-Manually add items
-Total price of list visible at all times
-Using chrome to phone on the Tesco.com website, products and searches can be sent straight to the phone from a PC. This works on Froyo (Android 2.2) only and requires a sign in to the Tesco.com site on the PC. More on that here: http://ubikapps.net/?p=618
-Froyo (Android 2.2) apps to SD compatible
-Action bar and dashboard design patterns utilised for quick access to main functions
Despite using the latest Android features the app runs only requires version 1.5 (cupcake) or above. I know I am not the first with a Tesco app on Android but I started development on mine before the others appeared.

Hi bewA, thanks for trying out my app. I just tried it and its working on mine (with Chrome to phone plugin V0.3). Chrome to phone goes a bit weird sometimes if you install a new version. Try restarting Chrome and trying again. Oh and BTW for the first time you do it and have to sign in, it won't actually send the link to the phone. You have to send it a 2nd time (after signing in).
Ill give it a slap
Thanks

Hey,
This APP is amazing for someone like me who constantly forgets to buy stuff, my wife has to write me lists which I usually lose or leave at home, Now she can send stuff from home straight to my phone, which I always have on me.
(That could be a major selling point BTW, you leave work, switch on your phone & get a list of shopping.)
Keep up the great work, it's nice to finally start getting useful apps for a change instead of another stupid Fart app.
just put it on the wifes phone, it didt find tescos own brand of dog food but every thing else worked.

Currently it only displays the first 20 search results (for speed). If you search for "dog food" then there are probably more than 20 results. In a future release I will change this so that you can click on a "More" button to get the next 20.
You can always scan the barcode of the product if you have it handy!

Sorry I'm only an Android developer. Learning Windows mobile is not high on my list of priorities at the moment!
I have just uploaded V1.3 to the Market. Here's the full changelog:
-Keyboard hidden when search results displayed
-Search box auto-completes using history. Use menu to clear search history
-Progress wheel aligned better
-Low pixel density devices (e.g. HTC Tattoo) supported
V1.4 is in the Market. Here's the change log:
-Offers shown in search and list highlighted in blue
-Added disclaimer dialogue box about prices being from the Tesco.com store
-Bug fix: gestures at the bottom of long lists corrected. The wrong item was getting crossed off
-Bug fix: prices for low cost products (<£1) corrected
-Various force close issues resolved
V1.5 is in the market now. Here's the change log:
-Screen now stays on when shopping list is displayed
-Bug fix: gestures in long lists no longer cross of multiple items
-Bug fix: manual items stay crossed off
I've been working on this for almost a year now off and on. I wanted a media player that gave me more control then the stock player included with Gingerbread (CM7). This drove me to try other players such as MortPlayer, which could play folders directly. It lacked the ability to have multiple root folders, however, so on a device with multiple storage directories (internal, sdcard, network server, USB, etc) it made listening to music difficult. The new players in ICS still fail to achieve this, as the Android MediaScanner backend they use only looks for auto-mounted locations. If you use NTFS, ext3, USB storage, or any other system that Android will not automatically mount, it will not find your music.
To remedy this, I decided to write my own music player (which is also my first Android app) based around the concept of having multiple "libraries" which are built by selecting a set of root directories to scan. You can have more than one library, such as having all of your home server's music scanned in but a separate library for on-device files. Libraries can span multiple storage locations or just single locations.
It's still very much a work in progress, but it's stable enough to be useful. I just implemented a swipe system to switch between views, adding a track info view which has tag and file info as well as a large album art view. Eventually I want to add Last.Fm artist/song info, lyrics, and possibly other content to this view using tabs. The scanner will pull album art from Last.Fm when you scan a library.
I also added support for DSPManager/AudioFX, which apparently is a per-app thing on CM9+ ROMs. It should be compatible with Gingerbread and up, one of my goals was to keep GB supported as I have an Archos tablet running CM7 that has a great DAC for audio.
The project is open source under GPL, hosted on GitHub here: https://github.com/CalcProgrammer1/CalcTunes
Version 0.47 Alpha: https://github.com/downloads/CalcProgrammer1/CalcTunes/CalcTunes.apk
I'd appreciate feedback, so far it's only been used by me and my friend. There are rough edges. For one, playlist functionality has not been implemented yet, so the placeholder items do nothing. The filesystem browsing is primitive. The notification doesn't work properly. Other than that, it should be reasonably stable.
[Reserved for additional updates]
The app is awesome but I think it needs some redesigning
The UI look squished in
It works great so far, running the same hard/software as you.
I greatly enjoy the UI.

The image not showing.
Wow looks really good except the orange color
The App force closes everytime I click on the record icon
I am on Android 4.1.2 / HTC ONE X
I will definitely try this one and would like to suggest two things for future updates - 1. .lrc format lyrics support. and 2. a customizable music widget which could support different skins. Thank you.
It force closes when trying to add a folder to the library and when clicking on the record
System only shows the files on the internal memory (sdcard) but all my music is on the external (sdcard-ext)
Using Atrix 4G rooted Stock 2.3.6
You can change the color in the settings, I use orange to match my phone's theme. As for the force close, I forgot to add that you need OpenIntents OI File Manager (or CM File Manager on many CM ROMs) as I use its file selection intent to select library folders. I would like to add a widget eventually, but first I want to improve the media info view, add playlists, and improve the notification to show album art and have controls on ICS+ devices where it is supported.

Turn off small-screen mode in settings, it is broken and needs work. That looks awful compared to what it should (some reason two lines were highlighted? small screen now-playing bar has broken year field?) and the new large-screen layout uses swiping. Like I said, still very much an alpha release!

macroMote, the only remote control application you need for your computer. Functionality? Using a command based system macroMote allows you to easily create the functionality you need to take control of your computer remotely. Design? With its tabbed layout organizing your macros has never been easier, this means your macros can be categorised how you want them to be. Simplicity? Everything about macroMote screams simplicity, after all that’s what a remote is for right? Macros can still be created (and removed) while clients (yes, more than one device can be connected at the same time!) are connected; the changes will be synced to all of the devices in real-time.
Features
- Command system to create whatever functionality you need
- Tabbed design for easy access
- Connect as many devices as you want
- Changes are synced in real-time to all devices
- macroMote Server compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac
Planned Features
- Added security (PIN to connect)
- Ability to save IP address
- Ability to change port
- Better tablet support
This really is the definition of universal.
Silly example macro, opens chrome and navigates to XDA
Code:
shell "cmd /C start chrome --start-maximized"
wait 2000
move "155,45"
click left
wait 500
type "XDA "
type ENTER
wait 1500
move "192,280"
click left
REQUEST : Please can you test this on your Linux/Mac machines. It should work but unfortunately I haven't had chance to fully test it (especially on Mac)
Please post your feedback for any improvements, commands and bugs!
How To? Mirror

This looks good but I have one question/concern.
How does the remote know which application to send the macro commands too? In other words, that VLC tab you have will only be useful if VLC is your currently active window.
It would be nice if each macro command could be directed towards a specific application running on your computer. If I want to control my iTunes music via remote, I don't want to maximize it first.
Make sense?
That is a very good question! I've thought about this and it still needs some work. With the server being programmed in Java it means I don't have access to external sources like window names and other useful things. It would mean I need to use the system API's (which of course then means I would need to figure out a way to get it to work on Linux and Mac too). Which means its going to be a pain in the ass. Fortunately must commonly used applications listen out for hot keys regardless of focus.
A simple solution would be? :
press ALT
type TAB
release ALT

It would be nice if people could leave some feedback? I put a lot of time into this.
So you have to be at the PC when writing set commands for each remote function?
Have you thought about being able to write a custom function on the Android phone then pushing that to the server then executing it?
Would like to have a little play with this app though, I like the idea Could maybe interpret something like this into a smart tv one day with a bit of modification.
Good Job
Yes, well the idea was that you set-up all of your macros on the computer before hand (prevents security issues). Since you will only need to write the macro once.
I developed this to function as an AIO remote to be used with any software and OS on your computer (where other remote controllers fail). I would of continue developing it, but it seems nobody is interested or doesn't understand what it does fully. I think I might just release the Pro version for free.

Hi!
MouseMote turns your phone into an airmouse. This means that the app allows you to control your computer mouse by moving your phone around the air. It uses the motion sensors in your phone to detect the angle at which you hold your phone and translates the movement into mouse movements. In essential you are able to use your phone kind of like the Wiimote.

Is the glitching happening with both touchpanel and airmouse? If so, using bluetooth connection may work better.
If the glitching is happening only with the airmouse, it is because the motion sensor signal is not good. Calibrating the sensors may work. Here is a video that shows two ways of doing that:
