[Completed] Flashed Jasmine, working perfectly for weeks. Tried hotspot, broke my data! Advice?? - XDA Assist

Hi all,
As stated in title, I've been running Jasmine for weeks pretty flawlessly, and I chose to attempt the mobile hotspot (unlimited data, custom ROM, was hoping to circumvent somehow and get data for my tablet on the train), now it's busted!
The phone freaked out a bit when I tried to connect my tablet and kept connecting/disconnecting repeatedly till I said forget it and shut it off. Didn't realize till later in the day that my data was b0rked. I've pulled the battery, wiped all the caches, erased the partition, and flashed Jasmine again and still nothing. Called Verizon tech support just to verify that nothing strange was going on on my account with Mobile Hotspot (like a data freeze or something, I have no idea just trying everything), and went through every step they could offer. Of course I didn't mention it was rooted, so they weren't much help.
You would think that erasing the partition and flashing a new ROM onto it, after erasing the caches, would totally have fixed the problem, right? Any ideas about how to fix? I'll gladly do more research, but through Googling and searching multiple forums I haven't found any good advice for the problem, so I figured I'd ask people more knowledgable than I am.
Equipment Stats:
Model: SM-N910V
Version: 4.4.2

Please give me any advice you can. If this is in the wrong section, please feel free to move it Mods, I just thought this was good.

Hi
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
Does WiFi tether work on Stock ROM or some other ROM ?
Please check that up first .
Also the device model you have given is for Note 4 Verizon. Whereas the firmware is for Note 3 Verizon . If you have installed Note 3 ROM on Note 4 then it might cause issues.
The best thing will be to sign up on forums and ask the developer in the Q/A thread. He would be able to provide better support.

Have a good day !

Strange, I have a note 3, and in the settings (after re-flashing Jasmine) it says SM-N910V. If that's the Note 4 model, that's all sort of messed up. Thanks for the tip, I will post there.

Thanks for reporting back

[Q] Help flashing Note 2 (E250/N7105) any custom ROM, fix SIM/IMEI issue

First of all, I'm a complete noob. I just joined the xda forum today after a year of following developments especially for custom roms and apps.
I have a pre-owned rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Android v4.1.1) which the "About Device" indicates is model n7105. I really wanted to "upgrade" its capabilities and features to a level close to Note 3 and/or KitKat goodness. So after reading a lot about how to flash custom ROMS, I tried Ditto Note 3 v5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2589715). Everything went well during the installation but after reboot it got stuck in the logo screen. After waiting for 10 minutes I flashed it AGAIN but with the same result. Finally after waiting for 20 minutes, I restored my phone to its backup. Now my phone can no longer detect my SIM card and my IMEI is null/unknown, even after factory reset. I made a big mistake! Then I remembered that that the original owner mentioned it's a converted E250 KOREAN version but I'm no longer able to contact her. This phone has been rooted and tweaked many times for over a year now, and having it serviced is no longer an option.
I definitely still want to flash DN3 (or any custom ROM compatible with E250) but I also need how to revert E250 to N7105 and fix my "Insert SIM card" problem. So where do I go from here? Any help/comments/suggestions on my specific case would be greatly appreciated! I am willing to learn whatever it takes to get this done and experiment.
Note: I didn't find clear answers to these in related forums and I'm also not yet able to post anything there. Hoping someone knowledgeable and helpful reads this.

I would begin with calming yourself down :]
There's always chance to flash proper rom so don't worry.
Pick up proper DN distribution suitable for Your device and flash again.
Remember to clean system for new rom, wipe data/factory reset and also wipe cache and dalvik cache, format system, and flash the thing again.
Remember that not always rom will boot from the first kick.. it often happens to me (freeze on first screen - not Samsung but the one with Note2 screen), it's as easy as taking the battery off the device and reconnecting it again for awhile and then power on again (sometimes it works in thrid attepmt so be patient, once it runs there should be no more further problems)
I hope You will solve Your problem.
Good luck!
Yep I totally agree with roozxx on that

[Completed] [Q] need help note 3 (SM-N9005)

hi there,
i have a SM-9005( Australian Telstra) which i bought used a couple of weeks/ about a month ago. NOT KNOWING WHAT I WAS DOING i tried to install android 5.0 via odin but, the thing that i did'nt realise was that it was the hong kong firmware after installing it i encountered a problem something like " binary (number) < (number) i figured that it was because when i decided to install it the storage was about 95% full and it only had like 300mb left so i just went into recovery and restored the phone. after successfully installing 5.0 i noticed that the phone was starting to be glitchy as in system would'nt respond (lag) no sound and camera and mic and calling wouldn't work. so i decided it was best to just roll back to the old os 4.4.2 and thats what i did. after doing so i realised that the same problems were still there "no in/outgoing call, no sound, no Google Now, no S-Voice, no camera, slow lock screen and slow settings" after trying to research and not finding anything that would help me ( mainly as my phone is Australian variant) i decided to install a custom rom Cyanogenmod, although this fixed the camera the other problem were still there and after trying to even restore from a nandroid backup via twrp recovery the problem has still not been resolved and well....:crying:

[Completed] Update Lolipop on Moto G Failed (Moto G XT1034)

Hello everyone, Like usual I managed to destroy to some extend the way my very old phone works. Its Rooted. And after an issue with my phone I reverted to a backup (using CWM) and everything went fine (expect SU Binairy wich failed, but got fixed easily).
Now I'm on stock rom. On Kitkat 4.4.4. So I wanted to install a new rom because I did it many times and never really encountered anything I couldn't fix myself (I've been working with overall technology for 4 years now). While searching the new roms xda offered, I realised that they where all for lolipop (or 90% of them) So I decided to update.
It didn't worked. It didn't worked so hard It bootlooped at least 5 times before I shut it down myself.
I don't remember where it failed, but it had to do with my System Version (Somewhere in a folder)

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the Moto G at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g which would be a good starting place. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the friendly Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you.
Good luck!

Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 - NO SIGNAL (IMEI/IMEISV:null/null;Baseband Version:Unknown)

Hello everyone,
As this is my first thread, and I have been reading previous assists based on IMEI fixing and couldn't find the answer I am looking for, I really hope that the XDA community can help me fix my Galaxy S4 I9500. I will try to explain the problem the best I can, and I will create a list of every solution I have tried in the 3 week phone fixing saga I have.
1. The problem :
My friend decided he does not need this phone anymore, everything was fine with it except the battery was swollen(but I bought a new one so it doesn't matter). The day before he gave it to me, he accidentaly dropped it in the toilet and it couldn't boot. I opened the phone, cleaned it with alchohol and the phone booted up normally. The thing I noticed was that in the status bar the network symbol was replaced with No signal symbol. I tried 3 SIM cards and none worked. I decided to downgrade to 4.4.2 KitKat version and this is where everything went even worse. I used Odin to downgrade a firmware downloaded from sammobile.com, but I didn't create an /efs backup because I have flashed an Alcatel Idol 2 before and there were no problems with the IMEI or so. It turns out that Samsung devices are different and I am left with NO EFS BACKUP. I know, I should have checked what to do before flashing the device, but what's done is done. The device is doing everything great, there are no problems with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth either, except I cant connect to a network because IMEI is null/null and the Baseband is unknown. The thing is, I am not sure if the IMEI is wiped completely because of a hardware problem, or it's software related because of the /efs folder, because I am not a developer, but a civil engineer :silly:
2. Solutions I've tried so far :
- Flashed many different Android versions;
- Flashed a Lollypop with adonis.pit with Re-partition checked on Odin;
- Tried writing an IMEI and repairing the EFS with Octoplus box;
- Tried flashing an EFS backup from my friend's Galaxy S4 I9500 ( IT IS ILLEGAL IN MANY COUNTRIES, NOT IN MINE, BUT I WANTED TO TRY AND CHANGE THE IMEI LATER SO IT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM );
- Tried flashing with a IMEI_null_fix.tar.md5 file which i found on a forum and that didn't fix it either;
- Tried KIES to return the stock ROM but either it does not recognize my device, or it says that my device could not be initialized or so;
- Took the phone to service, but in my town the only service we have is not very professional and they didn't even know the IMEI null does not mean that I will have no wireless connection/bluetooth connection, so they didn't fix it either;
- Tried with EFS Pro, Terminal Emulator and programs similar to those, 3rd party and PlayStore ones;
- Maybe other things but I could not remember because I think I tried everything...
I don't know if the problem can be fixed, but deep inside me I hope that there is a solution, and I think this is the best place to search for help, because it is a great phone and I don't want to throw it away just like that.
Thanks in advance everyone, hope you can come up with a solution.
Anyone please ?

[Completed] Reflash Marshmallow 6.0.1 or downgrade?

Good day. Tech isn't my best discipline but I feel savvy enough to remedy my phones current demise. After receiving the Marshmallow update mid January 2017 on my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910T the phone has turned into utter garbage. Messages don't send, using the internet is tortoise slow, restarting every 15 minutes is normal, calls are dropped 100% of the time. I didn't have any issues prior to Marshmallow.
Ive performed the following with none correcting the problem: 'wipe the cache partition', uninstall all non-stock apps, reset to factory settings. Nothing helped. Tmobile recommended rooting. My research says this may work but Ive also found others having success in flashing a different version of Marshmallow or downgrading to Lollipop.
I went down the path of flashing a different version of Marshmallow but I have a Macbook and can't find where to download Odin or JOdin.
Can someone please direct me down the right path?
Thank you
