[Completed] Update Lolipop on Moto G Failed (Moto G XT1034) - XDA Assist

Hello everyone, Like usual I managed to destroy to some extend the way my very old phone works. Its Rooted. And after an issue with my phone I reverted to a backup (using CWM) and everything went fine (expect SU Binairy wich failed, but got fixed easily).
Now I'm on stock rom. On Kitkat 4.4.4. So I wanted to install a new rom because I did it many times and never really encountered anything I couldn't fix myself (I've been working with overall technology for 4 years now). While searching the new roms xda offered, I realised that they where all for lolipop (or 90% of them) So I decided to update.
It didn't worked. It didn't worked so hard It bootlooped at least 5 times before I shut it down myself.
I don't remember where it failed, but it had to do with my System Version (Somewhere in a folder)
More info:

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Fortunately there is an XDA area dedicated to the Moto G at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g which would be a good starting place. If you haven't done so already, I suggest you post your question with all relevant details in the friendly Q&A forum there at http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help where the experts familiar with your device will be best able to guide you.
Good luck!

[Q] Need answers related to Moto G 2013 OTA updates

I am basically a noob when it comes to rooting, coding and other enthusiast level stuff !
But today I Unlocked the bootloader, installed CWM, Rooted(SuperSU) my Moto G(xt 1033) running 4.4.4 , My question is would I be able to get the Lollipop OTA ? If not what steps would I have to take to get it on my phone !
All help is appreciated , Thank you.
and this has been answered in about 3000 other threads already...
As @scott_doyland already said, this has been answered many times here. On the other hand, some of those answers are incorrect, so lets sum it up.
So far updating has worked with rooted phones as long as you had not touched any of the files that were going to be updated (like build.prop edits, new Adreno libraries or custom kernel and modules). However, you needed either stock recovery or PhilzCWM or TWRP. Stock CWM doesn´t work with OTA updates on Moto G.
With Lollipop it should be pretty much the same, but I have seen reports about TWRP and PhilzCWM not working this time. Not sure if was PEBKAC or there really is a problem, but stock recovery is always a safe way to go.
And one more thing. On Nexus 5 the update fails even if you just touch the system partition*. The update process doesn´t check for files anymore - it calculates a partition checksum and then updates it on filesystem level. We have not seen this yet on Motorola phones, but it may happen in the future. For now, rooted Moto phones are OK with OTA.
* Rooting installs su binary on the /system partition.

"Unfortunately net.aetherpal.device has stopped"
Whenever I receive a text message I get a message that says "Unfortunately net.aetherpal.device has stopped" any idea how to fix this?
just to clarify you just flashed the .zip files via TWRP and it worked? I have tried but it just keeps rebooting into recovery

use chainfire's app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.recently&hl=en
PS: it's not illusion, it's Lollipop...
PMA Charging
Hi was hoping that this fixed the wireless charging for me. The aosp lollipop roms work with it still but not the stock ones. Go figure. Any idea what the issue is?
So far so good , but I'm still have a problem with Good for Enterprise (gfe).
The program closes, without a crash warning or typical force close.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
done on my at&t d850 4.4.210c bumped and rooted. It's all OK ! Thank you !
Battery & performance
For those wondering what to expect in terms of battery and performance. Awesome Running so far! Had to disable lgsmartcover and weather. But got xposed running and all my favorites.
Anyone else getting random reboots?
Is the flashable zip uploaded anywhere else? My downloads have been stopping half way through or cannot open zip for the past 4hrs.
I have no reboots at all. Only downside is that email program Good does not seem to work.
I finally got gfe (Good for enterprise to work) but I had to unroot.
Dirty flashed from 10d and working great. I'm tempted to install Xposed, but only use a few options and don't want anything not working. So I'm wondering if anybody has non-xposed file edit solutions (without the need for extra apps)...
1) change battery icon / circle battery
2) hold back to kill app
3) enable call recording
4) add screenshot, flashlight, 4-way reboot from power menu
Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
When i keep getting stuck in a boot loop. The only thing i did was unroot. Any suggestions?
Re: Stock LG D850 20F Lollipop 5.0.1
I wish to thank you for your help.
I bought my D850 G3 off of Swappa, & it arrived already updated to Lollipop. But not rooted.
I was going to try PurpleDrake, but found out it didn't work with Lollipop, so I searched around & found How to root LG G Flex 2, G2, G3 on Lollipop! by Max Lee on HighonAndroid.com. This was the first time I've had to use command line rooting, previously I've used Chainfire's Autoroot (who I haven't thanked enough) with Odin for Samsung phones. But this method didn't put a custom recovery, like TWRP, on my phone. So, I tried TWRP's app from Play store. Then Rashr, & Flashify, from Play store. They all claimed to flash TWRP, but didn't work. I didn't understand until I started Googling flashing TWRP on the D850 with Lollipop, & ran across your post. It worked the first time. I'm running a TWRP nandroid backup right now. I got kicked out of adb shell at least 3 or 4 times, I don't know if it was my phone or windows 7. I just went back into adb shell/ su, & pasted the next command directly from your post, thanx for the exact commands necessary. When I was finished, & kicked out of adb shell again, I left the phone alone for a few minutes before unplugging the usb cable, & rebooting a couple of times. When that worked ok, I booted into TWRP, & started my backup.
Thanx again,
Dave

I had been having relentless issues with the powermat disconnecting until I tried booting into safe mode (Hold down Power Off until it pops up as an option). I put it on the mat while it was booting up and it kept the connection even after the phone loaded up. I then turned the phone completely off and placed it back on the mat. It started up and has been working just as it did pre-Lollipop update. Since it is working on AOSP roms and not on Stock by default, maybe there is some driver or other issue that gets resolved after booting into safe mode. I did this 3 days ago and it has been working fine thus far.
Hope it helps.
Hi, I can install this version to a D850 10D ?
Hi just wondering if you have plans to debloat, tweak this Rom further.

how to bump/ root when already on stock d85020f?m
Says I have to be rooted to install trwp so how do I root it first?
i really need help
i have and at&t 850 stock 5.0 and rooted. i just tried the #1 method to put TWRP on my phone. Now it wont boot at all. It give a error on the boot screen and blue and red led flashes. PLEASE HELP!

[Completed] [Q] need help note 3 (SM-N9005)

hi there,
i have a SM-9005( Australian Telstra) which i bought used a couple of weeks/ about a month ago. NOT KNOWING WHAT I WAS DOING i tried to install android 5.0 via odin but, the thing that i did'nt realise was that it was the hong kong firmware after installing it i encountered a problem something like " binary (number) < (number) i figured that it was because when i decided to install it the storage was about 95% full and it only had like 300mb left so i just went into recovery and restored the phone. after successfully installing 5.0 i noticed that the phone was starting to be glitchy as in system would'nt respond (lag) no sound and camera and mic and calling wouldn't work. so i decided it was best to just roll back to the old os 4.4.2 and thats what i did. after doing so i realised that the same problems were still there "no in/outgoing call, no sound, no Google Now, no S-Voice, no camera, slow lock screen and slow settings" after trying to research and not finding anything that would help me ( mainly as my phone is Australian variant) i decided to install a custom rom Cyanogenmod, although this fixed the camera the other problem were still there and after trying to even restore from a nandroid backup via twrp recovery the problem has still not been resolved and well....:crying:

[Completed] Stock Nexus 4 Stuck on Bootloop

Short version: Nexus 4 is stuck on bootloop but it's as good as new with the stock ROM.
Long version: My nexus 4 has stock kernel, stock ROM of Lollipop that was updated when google rolled it out few months back. I did have my bootloader unlocked via Nexus Root Toolkit few months back while i still had KitKat, but apart from that, i have NEVER ROOTED, NEVER INSTALLED A CUSTOM RECOVERY, NEVER CHANGED KERNEL, NEVER INSTALLED ANY OTHER CUSTOM ROMs. The only tampering i did was unlock the bootloader and never bothered anything else. But suddenly, my phone got stock on bootloop last night. I powered it off normally, full charged the phone, and when i turned it on, it got stuck ever since. It did happen once when the phone updated to lollipop for the first time, but a simple restart solved it that time. I have tried wiping cache, factory resetting and wiping cache again, but no luck so far.
All posts related to stuck bootloop in XDA are because of tampering the phone, installing a custom ROM, going back to stock etc. I didn't find a relevant post if this happens while still in stock with never tampered phone. If there is a post like that, please kindly redirect me there. I am left without a clue here with very less experience outside stock stuff.
PLEASE HELP !

[Completed] Bootloop problem on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (P5100)

Hello!
I have the following problem and after countless searches over many forums I ended up finding no answer:
About 4-5 months ago my P5100 started to restart itself after 1 or 2 minutes of functioning properly (restarts even faster if i try to connect over Wi-Fi or install an app). I thought that if I leave it for a while everything will be ok, it wasn't the case so I started trying to fix it. Before I go on I mention that my P5100 was rooted , running CWM version 5.5 and CM10(10.1.3), i haven't messed with the rom, recovery, firmware etc. for more that one year and a half so it started all of a sudden. I tried everything starting from simply updating the CM version to ADB commands and finally flashing back to the stock firmware with Odin. The wipe data/factory reset didn't work neither in recovery nor commands, I even tried to delete everything via Internal Storage in my pc through USB. Every time it reverts itself to the point it was left before although everything seemed to work just fine no errors or so. It doesen't remember after reboot any setting I made or any app that i installed(if I manage to install one) it is like i didn't do anything at all to it. :crying:
Many thanks for taking your time to read my thread and maybe help me:laugh:
