[Q] Help flashing Note 2 (E250/N7105) any custom ROM, fix SIM/IMEI issue - General Questions and Answers

First of all, I'm a complete noob. I just joined the xda forum today after a year of following developments especially for custom roms and apps.
I have a pre-owned rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (Android v4.1.1) which the "About Device" indicates is model n7105. I really wanted to "upgrade" its capabilities and features to a level close to Note 3 and/or KitKat goodness. So after reading a lot about how to flash custom ROMS, I tried Ditto Note 3 v5 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2589715). Everything went well during the installation but after reboot it got stuck in the logo screen. After waiting for 10 minutes I flashed it AGAIN but with the same result. Finally after waiting for 20 minutes, I restored my phone to its backup. Now my phone can no longer detect my SIM card and my IMEI is null/unknown, even after factory reset. I made a big mistake! Then I remembered that that the original owner mentioned it's a converted E250 KOREAN version but I'm no longer able to contact her. This phone has been rooted and tweaked many times for over a year now, and having it serviced is no longer an option.
I definitely still want to flash DN3 (or any custom ROM compatible with E250) but I also need how to revert E250 to N7105 and fix my "Insert SIM card" problem. So where do I go from here? Any help/comments/suggestions on my specific case would be greatly appreciated! I am willing to learn whatever it takes to get this done and experiment.
Note: I didn't find clear answers to these in related forums and I'm also not yet able to post anything there. Hoping someone knowledgeable and helpful reads this.

I would begin with calming yourself down :]
There's always chance to flash proper rom so don't worry.
Pick up proper DN distribution suitable for Your device and flash again.
Remember to clean system for new rom, wipe data/factory reset and also wipe cache and dalvik cache, format system, and flash the thing again.
Remember that not always rom will boot from the first kick.. it often happens to me (freeze on first screen - not Samsung but the one with Note2 screen), it's as easy as taking the battery off the device and reconnecting it again for awhile and then power on again (sometimes it works in thrid attepmt so be patient, once it runs there should be no more further problems)
I hope You will solve Your problem.
Good luck!

Yep I totally agree with roozxx on that

identify problem?

i have a samsung captivate i897.
i bought it sim free and unlocked from the states but i'm in the UK.
i recieved it already rooted running cyanogen mod and miui and have had it for 8 months. its worked perfectly the whole time.
until the past month i'd say its been radomly forcing closs on nearly everything.
i havent installed any new software or roms or anything or even dl any new apps so i cant figure out what would be causing the problem.
i tried checking for updateds on the muiu and it runs android 2.3.7
i'm not a tech person at all so i spoke to one of the tech guys at my local phone shop and he said i should try a factory reset.
so i guess i'm asking a few questions here:
1) does anyone have any idea what might be up with my phone?
2) can someone elplain to me the easiest/safest way to fix it?
please bear it mind i am a total noob at this tech stuff. i'll try to understand and cooperate as much as i can with those so kind to help me, but i'd really appreciate if people would help/point me in the right direction instead of giving me a short blunt answer which assumes i know all this tech stuff then locking my thread.
If it's already rooted & running a custom ROM, then you probably already have a custom recovery installed (probably clockworkmod). 1st thing would be to boot into recovery & do a backup. Then, you can try flashing any ROMs you want / factory reset / whatever, and restore your backup if you don't like the results.

how do i know if i have clockwork mod installed (i've never seen it before, but then again if its on the boot menu where i've not been before)
for booting into recovery i just long press the power button (at least it works like this on my phone) > reboot > recovery > ok
then what should happen after i press "ok" ?
also just to state (if it helps) the options i get for rebooting are: normal, hot boot, bootloader & recovery.
i dont really feel confident to be flashing roms (mainly because i dont really know how/which are stable etc) on the other hand i do need to fix it. guess i'd like to try the factory reset first though..... under the assumption its slightly easier.
i thought factory reset would restore the phone back to stock settings? but the guy in the phone shop said it wouldnt? (not sure how reliable he is ;] )
found this thread here which seems kinda similar
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264177&page=3
have tried uninstalling some apps to see if it helps.
the thing is with the problem is seems to occur randomly. the phone will work like perfect again for a few days then boom starts forcing close yet again.
only time will tell.

[Q] Rooted Verizon Galaxy S4 Problem

Hi.
I made an account just to post this because I honestly don't know where else to go. I'm new at rooting so please explain everything in simple terms.
I rooted my Verizon Galaxy S4 a few days ago and everything was great. I did a few soft mods with Xposed and Wanam and everything was still great. I thought I would wait until the weekend to do some custom ROM flashing and whatnot since I knew it was a time consuming process.... MAN was it a time consuming process. Mainly because I messed up my whole phone.
I installed Safestrap v3.71 (CWM Recovery wasn't compatible with my phone or something...?) and flashed Hyperdrive RLS13 to my MK2 build Verizon Galaxy S4 on ROM Slot 1. It worked great but I saw that all my free space in my internal memory was taken up because of my Stock ROM being too large. So I proceed to wipe data from the Stock ROM slot after backing it up and putting the backup on my computer. I factory reset the Stock ROM and hit reboot. I think the error occurred because I forgot to reselect the ROM Slot 1. Or maybe factory resetting like that isn't supposed to happen... I don't know.
But now my phone won't boot up all the way. It's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen. I tried booting into recovery but it just takes me to the stock recovery. Apparently Safestrap is unable to be booted into directly or something... so i tried to factory reset from there and it did.
Now my phone won't even go into recovery mode. If I try it will say "Recovery Booting" but the screen will go black and reboot again and get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen.
I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE ON THE INTERNET and nothing directly applies to me or is simple enough for me to understand... I am currently downloading the NO-WIPE method stock ROM or something for what I think applies to me from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578209 so I can put that into Odin which I downloaded (but don't really know how to use) and it says it will take 3 hours to download. GREAT. More waiting. I would like something quicker if possible.
SO MY QUESTION IS:
WHAT THE HELL DO I DO???
Specs of my phone again:
Verizon Galaxy S4 SCH-1545
Android 4.3
Build MK2
Kernel Mk2
(I'm not even sure what all that means but there it is)
ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED BECAUSE I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO!
Thank you. So. Very. Much.

[Q] which rom shall i put on my tablet

around 1 or 2 years ago i bought my samsung galaxy tab 2 7 inch (p3100). it came with 4.0.4. it worked perfectly for all this time. a few months ago i installed final fantasy 4 after years. i got a cracked apk. after that my tablet started restarting by itself. i am using it and suddenly it restarts. i did factory reset. it didnt help. i then did another factory reset and i didnt put final fantasy 4. it still didn't help
i then put 4.2.2 then tried to root it. the rooting failed and boot sector got damaged. a shop fixed the boot sector, put 4.2.2 and rooted. unfortunately it didn't solve problem as it still hangs and restarts
i installed clockwork recovery and did complete wipe. i removed android from it. i want to flash a new rom
which one shall i get? i need it in english, to be stable and not hang and it should support my belkin bluetooth keyboard
there is raspisimon.no-ip.org/roms.php] . it shows some roms. i found out there is omnirom, pac rom, paranoid android, slimroms and aokp. which one do i choose?
the most important thing is i want it to stop hanging and restarting. why is it doing that? if that problem still happens after i put new rom i will "retire" my phone and buy galaxy tab 3
I had this happen to my 10.1" and thought it was a goner. I had to run an ADB script from recovery to actually reformat (not just wipe) the system and data partitions, but this is some next level stuff that if screwed up can truly brick your device...
Try Googling it because I don't feel comfortable sharing the info where people might mess it up and blame me.

[Completed] Formatting Samsung S3 Problem

Hey, so basically I'm in a situation where I have no idea what to do.
I recently just got a new phone, and am going to give my Samsung Galaxy S3, SGH-T999V model - from Wind Mobile to my Dad. Basically, when I first got the phone - a couple months after, I decided to try Rooting it, and I did, successfully. Since I didn't really know what to do with my rooted phone, I decided to unroot it - then tried rooting it again some months later, but it didn't work successfully. Basically my phone wasn't rooted, but I had the "Team-Win" recovery on it.
I wanted to bring my phone back to it's original state - and have the stock recovery on it. After some Googling, my solution seemed to be to flash the stock rom for the SGH-T999V model onto my phone using Odin. And I did that - and it worked successfully. But I still couldn't check for OTA updates or anything, it said my phone had still been modified in an unauthorized way.
Now that I need to give the phone to my Dad, I have to format the device and erase everything. This is where my problem starts. When I try to format it (using the Stock recovery), I see a bunch of error messages, with the Android logo falling down in a kind of dead way. I reboot my device, and nothing changes.
It still has all my data, and everything on it.
Sorry if this is the wrong area to post this (I'm relatively new to the forum), and if my problem doesn't make much sense - I've tried being as detailed as possible. Could anyone help?
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. Flashing the stock firmware should show you to get ota's. This should have everything you need,http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/samsung-galaxy-s3-sticky-roll-thread-t2344125. Also, you can ask further questions here,http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/help/help-thread-galaxy-s3-question-t2690307

[Completed] Stock ROM - Is this supposed to happen?

It's been a while since I've tinkered with my Note 3, usually because I fancied seeing what the Note 7 OS looked like etc.
The last time was to unroot my phone and put the official KitKat back.
Now after sometime I've had issues with services like Bluetooth so I reinstalled the stock ROM although it's BTU Lollipop this time because for some reason Odin wasn't accepting my H3G 4.4.2 stock ROM.
Nevertheless, it has installed but to my surprise, all my apps, settings and messages are still there. The Bluetooth service is now back in business too. I guess I should be pleased but I'm wondering if this should happen?
As mentioned, it's been a while since I played about with ROMs but that was when I rooted and used apps like CWM but how do I completely wipe my phone first without rooting, before installing the stock ROM?
To install a stock ROM I press Vol. down, Home & power buttons and use Odin but before this, do I use the Vol. Up option first to wipe everyting?
One little extra question please, because my KtKat ROM seems corrupted now, where can I go to get another one? I can see samMobile.com has them but you have to pay. If that's the norm now then so be it.
Thanks very much and hope you can help.
Actually, nevermind, I bit the pillow and tried the Vol. Up option first to wipe the data & partition cache.
Just didn't know if I was going to find myself unable to install a new ROM with the Vol. Down option afterwards.
Needless to say, it worked a treat!
Very happy bunny.
