Forgive me if there is a thread already.
I've seen this done on some of the other devices here, members have asked that devs planning on buying and building roms chime in prior to the device coming out so that the community can get a heads up on how much ROM support a device will have once its released. One of the major factors that some XDA members consider before buying is how the ROM community/support for a phone will be...me being one of them. Maybe this thread will tank but maybe we can get some of the devs who are going to dive into the s6 to post in here ? Might be reaching but I've seen it done in some of the forums and it sometimes is a factor for some when deciding which new phone to get. [emoji4]

With the prediction of 55million of ss6; ss6 edge sold units by the end of the year i would image so, there would be some problem with exynos as it is a close platform it will take longer to develop a aosp.
The Samsung own brand chipsets don't have open source device tree so devs have problems creating from source such as CM. This has been this history on devices such as S4. Things may change.

The s4 didn't have me. as long as we get kernel source we should be OK. I did the t700/705, both are exynos and have fully functioning cm ports (well the t705 still has a couple bugs but that will be fixed in time)
Keep in mind this is not something that will happen over night. It took about nine months before I felt ready to submit my code to cyanogen. That and I haven't decided between the s6 or the edge.
I know a few heading over. I'm stewing on it but may play a hand from afar... unless I get hands on a loaner.
I'm coming over to the S6. Regular one, btw

I owned the original Note Edge and found the phone to be way too slippery. It was definitely cool to have the edge screen since it was something new, but I found it to be impractical. I pretty much never used the edge screen unless it was to play Memory Match (a game made specifically for the edge screen).
There was also a clear lack of variety in the amount of accessories available for the Note Edge as well. There were no tempered glass screen protectors that wrapped the edge screen and the cases were pretty much only leather flip books. HOWEVER, keep in mind that the S6 Edge has a much bigger fanbase than the Note Edge and with that said, there may be a greater variety of accessories for the S6 Edge.
Also, development for the regular Note Edge was shockingly nonexistent. There were a couple ROMs here and there, but most were stock bases. It's worth mentioning that you COULD flash regular Note 4 ROMs on the Note Edge and they'd work, however there'd be these really ugly white bars on the side of the phone due to the extra space on the Edge. Here's a picture (sorry for the quality):

TL;DR
Here are the main points why I think the Note Edge and subsequently, the S6 Edge are not worth it (to me):
Edge was slippery
Edge screen isn't practical
Lack of development compared to regular phone
Edge screen not worth the extra $$$
Note, that this was just based on my experience with the regular Note Edge. I obviously can't say what it'd be like to own the S6 Edge, but I imagine the difference can't be too big.

Yeeesssss, loft in its beauty. Feel it in your pocket.MMMMMMMMM. So good.
I bought mine on launch, and I still love. My only regret the is potential loss of tmobile, but the FCC seems to be leaning against that.
I really like it a lot. I think it's still the phone I'd choose today if I was in the market again; I've really appreciated the stock experience, especially post-2.3.3 patch, which fixed pretty much all my gripes with it.
I love it, but the only thing that I can think of to change is making the speaker audible when laid on it's back. I had a few missed calls because of this.
I love it. Started off a little bit slow, but things are starting to catch up... slowly.
I never get sick of the phone's looks. And getting the Case-Mate Pop Case made me even love it more.
Edit: Slow as in development.
I love it to death. The only way I would think of giving it up is if the deal goes through. Having a 3g phone with no 3g is lame.

Same with this guy.
my brother has one. ihave iphone 4. last week i bought one. used but almost brand new. not a single cratch with no visible gtid pattern on the matrix pentile screen. it was stunning.
i figured what the hell, i will try it for few days. if i like it, i will keep it and sell my iphone 4. if not i will return it to the store " store owner is my close friend "
so i played with it. i think its awesome. but i gave it to my brother since it was in better shape than my brothers and he sold his phone.
i use skype video calls almost daily. and i play alot of games. i figured i can live without the skype but it was a no go.
its funny how a small things can screw up big things.
all in all i think its one of the best phones in the market. and i recommend this phone over any andriod phone available right now.
unless optimus 2x will have a cracked bootloader, then i dont think any phone coming soon will top the nexus .
right now i am waiting for the xperia play. for the same reason, i play games alo :/
Interesting responses. I for one, do love mine. I don't think I could ask for more except 3g.

I don't see any reason not to like the Nexus S currently...the only drawback is lack of dual core and 4G. But no biggie to me...I can live with 3G speeds and this phone is super fast with custom rom's, kernels even without dual core.

Then you'll complain about Samsung's delay on Android X.X. Just stay on the Nexus line and wait for the 3rd Nexus Phone.

It looks so much like Android.
I'm confused. This may sound like a separate topic but, since Android is open source, does it mean that I can copy it over and change it around and call it MyMobileOS and sell it for money?
Is what XiaoMi phone is doing legal? They just take Google's code and change it around and massively put it on their own phones and sell for money?
nvm. wrong post

HTC screens are garbage. I personally think that if Samsung was to go ahead and make this move without continuing to release any Android phones then that would be a negative decision on their part financially.

U would leave android because sammy did?
I seriously doubt the SGSII will have anything but android on it but I certainly don't doubt them making a phone with another OS. look at how many android phones sammy makes. you think they will stop all that?
Tizen is also open source - so you should not pay any money to have it. And looking into the source code - all of the drivers are under Apache License with Samsung as owner. We will probably see Samsung running Tizen soon. Not to mention that Intel is supporting the project hoping that they may enforce x86 instead of ARM processors arch (the same way they are forcing Thunderbird instead of USB). Android got one major flaw - that's the java virtual machine or I should say Oracle.
Looks like a Touch Wiz OS. Low end devices most likely, similar to Bada.

Oh c'mon with the exaggeration.. they're a far cry from 'garbage'!
Samsung screens are nice but the colours (from what I have seen personally) are over saturated in comparison to others such as HTC, which have more natural colours, something a lot of people appreciate.
My best friend has a GS2 and while his screen is nice, it's also tinted yellow because the colour temperature is way off, so the colours on my 1 year old Desire HD actually look better. He's not alone either there's a 200+ page thread on it. Then there's the banding issues people are having on the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note displays.
What I'm getting at is all current screens have their downsides but they're all far from being garbage.
i think that's a new incarnation of BADA OS
It's a bada os, but it'll be open-source this time.
I don't know who need this... Bada failed, Tizen will fail too.
This would be a HUGE mistake. Right now, people love Android, and some of us have quite a bit of money invested in apps and other things. I don't see many devs jumping ship either...
I Know this is random, but its also cool. For anyone keeping up with the rumors on the note 3, here's another. These Photos Were leaked online 6/10/2013. Comes from Sam Mobile who are the ones that leaked the Pictures of the S4 which turned out to be real. the phone seems to have a smaller bezzle like the s4 so the phone its self wont be bigger but the screen will.
What does everyone think? Real or Fake?

So do what everyone does. Buy the Note 3 yourself, swap over the SIM and keep the contract. So long as you don't swap to a phone that requires a different data plan (Blackberry and Apple require a different dataplan than 'Everything else" here. Blackberry costs you 18 bucks a month extra for some reason.) you should be fine.
I hate having carrier-given phones. Not only do they come with all sorts of extra bloatware. (T-mobile apps, for instance), but half the time they want it back after two years. Meaning if you do anything they don't like, you have to pay for the phone fully again in the end AND hand it over.
I just told T-mobile my HD2 had been in the bag I lost at Schiphol Airport.

Unfortunately, it almost certainly will. Not to take away the achievement of the OP, but like all Exynos CM/AOSP builds, it will never be properly stable, and I doubt it will ever be usable as a daily driver, even for those who want CM so much they're willing to sacrifice the features which made this phone worth paying a premium for in the first place (camera speed/quality and edge features to give two examples). Unfortunately, this is the price we pay for having a phone with a closed source SOC. Quite simply, Samsung don't want non-TW roms running on their devices.
If the right developers get on board...this does have some potential to be a relatively decent build...however it's a hard task to get all important features to work & well. Stability is the key for a daily driver (oh it can be done) but past experience says that it won't.
Great Achievement none the less....but I hope I'm wrong in that it won't be stable and thus to be used as a daily driver.
May be proven wrong......only time will reveal all ?

It indeed can be done. I was running a decent build on my old Exynos Galaxy S2 back in the day. But as you say, it takes a long time to do and when it does get to the point of being stable it's normally as a result of a team doing it, rather than an individual. And all the main teams have walked away from developing for Samsung SOCs after Samsung went back on their word to release the source code around the time of the S2. I can't remember the last Samsung Exynos mobile phone that had a stable CM build. It might have actually been the S2.
But good luck with this. As an ex-serial flasher I might even try it out at some point.
Well said Beefheart & agree with you.....oh and we are not being Negative....this can't be ascertained from his or my post. It's realistic and perhaps even motivational ? it's experience that says it won't be as said alot of great devs have walked away from the thought of CM on a Samsung device.
We both mentioned that we hope that it progresses ....so their is NO negativity whatsoever......it's just a long road yet to be travelled and will it get to the point of Stable?

I haven't posted here since November 2014. As the KitKat+ OS mods became too heavy for Infuse, and whereas the video was a fail since those mods, I ported back to Gingerbread. Yes, I still am using my Infuse, although I have replaced the screen (a fun learning experience). However, when the new Nexus phone comes out in August (or a little later), I'm considering retiring this work horse (emphasis on only "considering").
Anyway, any of the old veterans still around?

Well, after many years of faithful service from my Infuse, I finally let it go for a Google Pixel XL. It served me well, was a little workhorse, but never really could handle KitKat (I had to return it to Gingerbread). I bid that faithful phone a grateful farewell.

I'm still around, veteran of the Infuse, my first Galaxy experience. I don't use it anymore since a very long time, but still keep it as a treasure i guess
I made a lot of friends here thanks to that phone
I still have it on unofficial cm11 and it looks as gorgeous as before. I have to admit I still keep it because I don't want to sell it for less than $50
It still has its original battery which holds like 1 hour of charge when using although it has excellent standby time! It's like my sophisticated 13GB pen drive.
Just dusted off my Infuse because...
Gave away my Note 3. Infuse started me wanting a big phone so I could leave my notebook home.
The Infuse feels so good in my hands.
I now use Huawei P8MAX & a Rii keyboard as my phone/notebook.
Just remembered the reviews saying how few people would buy the Infuse because it was so big. One reviewer called it a "monstrous phone." LOL
