Greetings xda forum goers:
As the title suggest I have an Acer Iconia A500 that I purchased a few months back second hand. Well folks I really need your help and I'm at my wits end about this. To cut right to the chase my tab is running Android 3.1 Build Number Acer_A500_4.010.13_COM_GEN2 and I'd like to update it to something more recent 4.4 or 5 even would be great but I'd gladly settle for 4.0 even as well. I can't update through the tablet as some of you may be aware Acer no longer provides support for this otherwise awesome tablet and attempting to update yields the "Network Coverage is Poor" error. Is there a something I can download and run as a standalone update? Or do I have to root it? I'm a technician but am very much new to roots and not that familiar with tablets in general. Clear instructions and any help will be very much appreciated. Thank you so much!
Hi

There are several ROMs available in the development section.

First off thanks very much for finally giving us a510 owners our own Forum! Was such a PITA trying to sort through the a500, a100 and a700 threads constantly looking for just simple answers.
Im looking forward to testing out some custom roms for this beast. (Preferably AOKP lol)
If there is anything anyone needs me to test I will try my best to do what I can.
I finally managed to get my tablet rooted/unlocked my bootloader and have a custom CWM recovery installed and for the most part operational. I am not allowed to say where I got the resources to do those as its against forum rules.
Anyways looking forward to seeing a active forum!
Dude, the resources for doing THAT are in the A700 part of this section, and the A500 part, too.
Hi all. I have just bought the Lenovo IdeaTab A2107 tablet. Its a great 7 inch tablet and the best part is that it supports dual sim for data connectivity.
Here's a link for the product page:

I want to bring this new device to everyone's attention and hope there are devs that can work on rooting it and cook roms for it.
would love to have the JB update as its comes with ICS
Thanks, but better service in the Device forums, good luck with the JB. Thank You & Thread Closed.
Hi Guys
I have been following these xda forums for a while now but never registered until now. Please forgive me if this is the wrong section to post this under, any moderators feel free to move if need to, I am fairly new to android, I have an android tablet Asus TF101 and used a guide on here to root. a while back.
After a long wait I have finally gotten a new phone after having an old nokia 5800, well still waiting for it to be delivered, the new Padfone Infinity a86 I have searched and searched for methods to root the device, but can not seem to find any, at least any that seem legitimate does any one know if there is a root method available for it?
Second after looking into and rooting my tablet I would quite like to get into custom roms, but not quite confident in that area yet as I do not have the know how to fix it incase I brick it, Is there any youtube videos/channels anyone can reccomend I can watch. and rom manager is that worth looking at as I did hear some decent things about that.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.
Kind Regards
Majon.
You could lookover there

Rooting für das New Padfone Infinity A86
But This page is in German language.
The tool itself is in chineese, even. But there is only One Button, so no way to be wrong
thank you for reply, i ended up using kingoapp after i read that the threads were reopen because kingoapp had been working with xda
thanks again

Working root for The New Padfone Infinity a86

Hi,
I recently bought an Acer A1-840HD (not the FHD model). As the reviews stated, it does come pre-loaded with a lot of software you can't uninstall. I rooted the device using some instructions in the XDA forums and then uninstalled a bunch of that stuff.
I'd really like to install a clean build of Android 4.4.4 (which is what it ships with) and/or if possible Android Lollipop (maybe not since its still fairly new). While there are a couple of guides to root the device, I couldn't find much in the way of installing a clean OS of any version.
Thanks in advance for any links you can provide!!

Hello, and welcome to XDA! I cannot see any rom for your device here on XDA, but you could try to ask in the discussion forum dedicated to the Acer A1 840HD, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/t/iconia-tab-8. You will need to register in order to post.
Good luck!
Thank you very much.. I will give that a go!
Hey, I picked up this GSmart T4 and I've updated its firmware to the latest I could obtain from the manufacturers site [email protected]
The current android version is 4.2.2, which is quite limited for a lot of the new apps etc. and that's what I want to upgrade.
I've looked around for a ROM update but its just endless links to very dodgy looking sites so I'd really appreciate some expert advice on this!
Many thanks,
~R~
