I am using android 5.1, my phones power button was changed last week, and I think the battery drained to 0% at the service. Now my phone works fine, I think it charges the battery, but the battery indicator at the top shows 0%. I did full wipe, installed original rom, everything works fine. I am adding some screenshots.
Charge it while it's off
Hi, thanks for the advice, i tried to turn the phone off and it did not wake up, the power button did not work at all. So I opened the back cover, unplugged the battery, put the phone on charge and a battery image showed up. Then I pressed the power button, google logo came, plugged the battery back and now it works fine.
Whenever I shut the phone down it does the same thing. Maybe the battery is broken, but the phone works with battery for hours, there is a red exclamation mark inside the battery symbol in the upper right corner, what does it mean? I will buy a new battery and try with it. I hope the battery is broken.
Lower your brightness man!

Phone sits overnight, fully charged battery discharges from 40% to just about empty. Only in this event will the phone boot and charge as normal. Stock current rom.
Now once its on it works as normal, except that once its booted it will not power off and reboot or power cycle and reboot until it has sat for some hours.
At this point it may show a black screen, show a grey battery, show a green battery with dots under it. Unable to get it into bootloader mode without a jig.
Jig may or may not work without pulling and replacing the battery.
Flashed stock bootloaders with Odin, same thing.
Any thoughts?

Oh I did, same thing. Battery works fine in another phone.
I don't know what anyone means by all this 'download mode' and 'recovery mode' etc, I got my phone last month and I am new to it.
The battery life has always been quite lame, but this morning I was charging my phone and it was on 5% according to the battery widget.
Then it turned off, and now it won't turn back on.
It comes up with an empty battery but instead of the green bar moving to charge it, it is empty with a yellow triangle with another battery inside with a line going through it!
I have left it alone but it vibrates every five-ten minutes spontaneously, and occasionally shows that empty battery again.
I have tried removing the battery then putting it back and charging it from different sockets/from my pc - nothing is working.
please help me.

did u install some kind of app before this happened? hav u tried changing the battery? would u like to factory reset it?(if u prove that this happens coz of an app)

I've got a new battery from what seems a great seller on eBay.
I've replaced the battery very carefully and when I started charging it, the phone showed only blinking orange led like the battery is drained out. I've waited for more than an hour and the led didn't change.
I've returned the original battery and now when I connect the phone to the charger, the orange led blinks again even though the battery is on 66%, also I get an exclamation mark on the battery and it turned grey.
Any advice on how to continue?
EDIT: I've tried the battery reset procedure (Volume up+ Down + Power) for two minutes while connected to an original charger. It didn't work on the new and the old battery. Also did soft reset and no results. I'm stumped! even if the new battery is defective how come the new one doesn't show the correct percentage??
My phone is stuck to 0% of battery, no matter how much i charge it, it still remain at 0%.
It doesn't show up the battery charge icon, even if it's off, but the charging works because i feel the phone and the charger warm, but the led of charging doesn't show up even if the icon of the battery in navbar changes.
I already tried i clean flash, and now i flashed the last factory image, but the problem isn't gone.
There's another problem, when i shut down or i reboot the phone, it seems to die. It doesn't power up, but after some attempts keeping the power button pressed for much seconds, it finally turns on. Same for fastboot mode.
How did i arrive to this situation? I was running los14, i installed substratum, i applied 4 or 5 themes and there was no problem, till when i had a bootloop. So, i went in recovery and flashed the rom to fix the problem, but when i pressed "reboot", the phone shut down and died, and problems are begun.
One years ago i changed the battery, i still have the old one, should i try to change the battery?
Yes, try a different battery to see if that helps.
I changed battery but nothing seems changed.
It's really strange, the phone runs well anyway, i'm writing with it right now..
It's like the phone can't reach battery status. There's no app that is able to get info from battery.
Actually, something changed; when the phone is off and i plug it in charge, it shows a battery with a question mark
Sounds like the battery charging circuit
I just had my Xperia Z5's battery replaced due to it bloating up. After two weeks, I noticed that the battery indicator isn't working properly.
It would go down from 100% really fast (even during standby - not using the phone) but stay around 30% down for a really long time. No difference in usage. Then it also started restarting on its own even during standby. I would check my phone and it would need me to input my pin saying its required after a restart. Another instance, I was still typing out a text message and it restarted on its own. The battery was around 60% before it restarted but after it turns on again the battery indicator showed that its at 40 something %. I don't think the battery would drain that much just from restarting.
Also, just today, it won't charge properly anymore. It will detect the charger, like it would make the sound when you plug it in but the battery icon won't change to the charging icon and the battery will continue to drain. When turned off, it would show the Sony logo then battery level on the screen but will stay at 0% or whatever % it was left at and will continue draining.
So my phone just died earlier and I just went to plug it in hoping it would still work. The battery was stuck at 0% for the longest time so I just went and left it for a few hours. Coming back to it, I noticed that the LED indicator is green. I pressed the power button and it showed 100%, then I tried turning on the phone. It still turned on, showing 100% on the battery icon and could be used like usual.
I can still use the phone, barely, but this issue is really annoying. I'm not even sure if the next time it drains it would charge again.
So far, I've tried:
using a different cable and charger
doing a factory reset
doing a repair via Xperia Companion
But the issue still persists...
Is there anything else I can do on my end to fix this?
You should replace your battery
Hello.
I'm sorry to hear that your Xperia Z5 got this problem.
Here're some personal experiences:
1.Just replace a battery for it.My Xperia Z5 had same issue last month:Its battery lasts for only 2 or 3 hours, and charges much faster than before. Then I think maybe the battery life loss too much,so I bought a battery from taobao(A Chinese Website),then everything's fine just as when I buy it.
2.According to your description, maybe the sub board(It's responsible for charging and data transmission)is broken too.You can find a used one at ebay.
That's all.I hope this message can help you.And...I'm a Chinese so maybe you can't understand my Chinglish(It means "Chinese English" )...Sorry for that.
