galaxy ace not charging - General Questions and Answers

I don't know what anyone means by all this 'download mode' and 'recovery mode' etc, I got my phone last month and I am new to it.
The battery life has always been quite lame, but this morning I was charging my phone and it was on 5% according to the battery widget.
Then it turned off, and now it won't turn back on.
It comes up with an empty battery but instead of the green bar moving to charge it, it is empty with a yellow triangle with another battery inside with a line going through it!
I have left it alone but it vibrates every five-ten minutes spontaneously, and occasionally shows that empty battery again.
I have tried removing the battery then putting it back and charging it from different sockets/from my pc - nothing is working.
please help me.

[Q] Boot / Battery issue

Phone sits overnight, fully charged battery discharges from 40% to just about empty. Only in this event will the phone boot and charge as normal. Stock current rom.
Now once its on it works as normal, except that once its booted it will not power off and reboot or power cycle and reboot until it has sat for some hours.
At this point it may show a black screen, show a grey battery, show a green battery with dots under it. Unable to get it into bootloader mode without a jig.
Jig may or may not work without pulling and replacing the battery.
Flashed stock bootloaders with Odin, same thing.
Any thoughts?

Oh I did, same thing. Battery works fine in another phone.

[Q] grey battery icon on boot

Device:
VZW Blue SGS3 32GB, original battery
The issue:
This only happens when the device turns itself off due to low battery. When I try to turn on the phone it shows am empty battery icon (i.e., no green or red) with a huge grey recycle type symbol in the center of the battery (a circular grey version of the green recycle symbol, with two half circles instead of three corners of a triangle). This image flashes on screen for maybe 3 seconds and then immediately powers off.
At this point the phone doesn't respond to normal reboot measures (hold power button, hold power + volume, etc). The only way to get the phone to respond is to re-seat the battery. Then, when you plug the power cord in, it will vibrate once then show the battery icon again and turn off.
At some random point in time the phone "revives" itself. Here's where the fun begins. When it "revives" itself (can be anywhere from 10 mins to 10 hours later) the battery looks like it was charging the entire time (i.e., after 2 hours it has a 40% charge)! One time when it revived it was fully charged!
Background:
This happens on the stock ROM as well as Slim Bean (2.6 & 2.7). That's half the reason I went with Slim Bean...exceptional battery life. And, it has worked, as it's only happened twice since switching to Slim Bean. It was happening once a week with the stock ROM because the battery would frequently go below 15% without my knowledge. Now, sure, I can control this by making sure the battery never gets down to 15%. However, a $600 device shouldn't lock up just because the battery gets low!
I did call VZW about this and they were pretty much clueless. They didn't seem to be familiar with that symbol. Their only suggestion was a new battery. I will take them up on the offer, just to get a free battery, but I really don't think it's the battery. If it was the battery then you would imagine this should happen randomly and not just when the battery was low. To me it sounds like the battery charge/protection circuit flaking out. Here's the real thing to consider to discount the battery: the grey icon remains even when the battery itself is at 100%.
Has anyone else seen this problem? I'm at a loss because I can't even google for it...the search terms are too common. So if anyone knows a specific name for this problem, do share!

Lol, same exact thing that is happening to my phone. Ive learned to deal with it because my phone has physical damage was tl buy a stronger charger or keep the one I already had and not let the phone die. The things you described is 100% my phone lol.

[Q] Battery stuck at 0%

I am using android 5.1, my phones power button was changed last week, and I think the battery drained to 0% at the service. Now my phone works fine, I think it charges the battery, but the battery indicator at the top shows 0%. I did full wipe, installed original rom, everything works fine. I am adding some screenshots.
Charge it while it's off
Hi, thanks for the advice, i tried to turn the phone off and it did not wake up, the power button did not work at all. So I opened the back cover, unplugged the battery, put the phone on charge and a battery image showed up. Then I pressed the power button, google logo came, plugged the battery back and now it works fine.
Whenever I shut the phone down it does the same thing. Maybe the battery is broken, but the phone works with battery for hours, there is a red exclamation mark inside the battery symbol in the upper right corner, what does it mean? I will buy a new battery and try with it. I hope the battery is broken.
Lower your brightness man!

Z3 Battery Madness (1%/50%/100% Cycling constantly)

My battery life keeps bouncing between 1%, 50% and 100% and doesn't show anything else, you can be looking at the screen and you randomly see it flick between all three values and even more weird, the battery menu is no longer listed in the settings menu and I have no way of knowing what amount of charge my battery actually has.
This morning the phone went off saying low battery (whilst also saying 100%) and when I turn it back on it shows the low battery symbol in the centre of the screen and does not boot-up, great, the battery must be dead. I put the charger in and the red LED light comes on and battery low indicator come on for two seconds, then switch off and endless repeats no matter what I do..
I left it for an hour doing that and turned it on and used the phone for 30 minutes without any problem, then it turned itself off saying low battery, and started doing another loop of the low battery and red light in standby mode round and round again even though it wasn't plugged into anything. I pressed the reset button and after that I couldn't turn on as just a standard, battery low message.
I did a repair of the phone, which surprisingly was able to be carried out despite the fact that the phone wouldn't turn on because of "low battery" before I did it (which makes me doubt it is low) and the moment I turned the phone on after the repair it was still "Low Battery" and refused to turn on, which is somewhat strange bearing in mind it clearly had enough battery for a repair.
I left it for 4 hours charging and I turned the phone on and it operated for an hour in a factory reset mode no problem, however the indicator cycling was still going on. I plugged the charger in and the sound for charging was made, but the phone showed as not charging, despite the fact it made the sound that it is (I think it is actually charging but nothing to indicate ti is)
Again I go into settings and there is no battery menu there, if I search for it using the hourglass it tells me no battery data is avaliable. I search for Stamina mode and put it in Stamina mode and it refuses because just when I hit it, the battery reader says 1% and it says battery is too low. With some good timing I manage to press Stamina mode when it was on 100% and now it's in Stamina mode with 942 hours remaining,, the phone has been on for 3 hours now and now says 950 hours remaining.
Meanwhile the battery gauge continues to cycle 1%/50%/100% all of the time.
Has anyone seen this before?
I did not have this exact same issue, but Battery menu disappeared and battery would mostly show 50% (and very rarely the real data).
Got my battery exchanged now, everything back to normal now. Might be Sony used crappy batteries (though as long as they don't explode I'm somewhat happy).
I sent it back to Sony and I am now am about to go into a third week with no phone.
For the last week they have been waiting for stock to exchange the phone, since they have no stock (no joke) I am still waiting and they cannot tell me when they will get stock.
The fact a mobile phone company have no stock of phones, is pretty funny.

Stuck at 0% of battery, difficulties to boot

My phone is stuck to 0% of battery, no matter how much i charge it, it still remain at 0%.
It doesn't show up the battery charge icon, even if it's off, but the charging works because i feel the phone and the charger warm, but the led of charging doesn't show up even if the icon of the battery in navbar changes.
I already tried i clean flash, and now i flashed the last factory image, but the problem isn't gone.
There's another problem, when i shut down or i reboot the phone, it seems to die. It doesn't power up, but after some attempts keeping the power button pressed for much seconds, it finally turns on. Same for fastboot mode.
How did i arrive to this situation? I was running los14, i installed substratum, i applied 4 or 5 themes and there was no problem, till when i had a bootloop. So, i went in recovery and flashed the rom to fix the problem, but when i pressed "reboot", the phone shut down and died, and problems are begun.
One years ago i changed the battery, i still have the old one, should i try to change the battery?
Yes, try a different battery to see if that helps.
I changed battery but nothing seems changed.
It's really strange, the phone runs well anyway, i'm writing with it right now..
It's like the phone can't reach battery status. There's no app that is able to get info from battery.
Actually, something changed; when the phone is off and i plug it in charge, it shows a battery with a question mark
Sounds like the battery charging circuit
