Anyone know of a stock rooted 5.1 ROM that works? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was hoping my favorite stock ROM Dev (Bigixie) might have produced one of his usual, very stable stock ROM's flashable in TWRP. I think there's one stock rooted ROM avail but seems it's broken.
Appreciate any links other than the adb/fast boot options.
Cataclysm had always been a great option, but they are in alpha nice so likely not a daily.
Cheers.

Cataclysm is a perfectly stable daily, always has been

why not just flash the stock images from Google, and then root. Super easy to do, and then you have a "stock rooted" ROM.

^ That's what I did.
So far running ok.

Groggs 5.1 AOSP rom work's a treat!

I'm using xtrasmooth with Elemental X kernel. There's a few under the hood optimisations but it's fast fluid and bug free

Who likes Stock CM Mod Better than Stock?

So I`m thinking of making the change over to CM Mod nightlys.
So I have just been running stock 4.4.2 with xposed.
Thinking about just using CM mod nightlys (I read that the nightlys are sometimes more stable than the snapshots)
And things seem nice and quick just playing around but I need something That wont give to many problems How has CM been lately? Also how is OTA updates? are they reliable enough to not have to keep wiping each time theres an update?
Thanks
Also Does Xposed Modules work on CM roms?
And is there a recommended kernel besides using the stock CM One?
There are alot of great roms... Alot better than cm.

Just try it for a while, at the end of the day its just about preference. The CM rom itself is rockstable and the stock kernel performs very well and offers good batterylife.

What this guy said but to add, keep an open mind there are a lot of good ROM's out there. Purity and Mahdi come to mind. On my n4 I used carbon and couldn't wait to flash the next nightly but I got away from that.
I recommend Chaos Kernel since they went CAF or Elemental X has CAF version

Slightly disappointed

I'm a little disappointed with my One. I upgraded from an LG Optimus G (1.5ghz quad, 2gb ram, adreno 320) and it doesn't feel like a huge upgrade, although it is. I've tested both together and the LG is the same or faster in the UI. I love the 1080p screen, cameras, gaming performance but maybe it's the software. I've tried multiple ROMs and they are the same or even slower. The LG is using its official KitKat 4.4.2 and the One stock 38R. Anyone else seen similar characteristics?
I came from the HTC One M7 which had similar specs to the LG Optimus G, and I'm loving this device. I'm not on stock 38R, running vanir + Franco kernel. Smoothest and fastest experience, got 8 hours on screen time before my last charge.

I came from HTC One M7 and I like it. Its just a phone bro. Don't put too many meanings to it
I am not that happy with the camera or the screen.

I was on nameless first. Liked it but missed vanir so I just clean installed vanir from Oct 14th, then proceeded to flash Franco R26. Then I got my vanir update so I updated it and dirty flashed, then hours later saw that the r27 was up so downloaded the zip and flashed. Just the regular process, nothing out of the ordinary.

Where did you get the r27 zip? I can't seem to find it... I can only find the Cm11s zip but if I'm gonna go aosp with vanir I can only find the fastboot option...

Coming from a Nexus 5 I would say the android experience is much better on the Nexus 5 while the One Plus One is the better phone with better speakers, Battery and camera.

Okay so I'm just gonna clarify:
Coming from 38R stock rooted
>Flash Vanir 1017 clean
>Flash r26 Franco
>let it boot
>Flash dirty Vanir 1017
>Flash r27?
Using TWRP 2.8.0.1

Almost, but just do this instead. No point flashing R26.
*wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache*
1. Flash vanir
2. Flash Franco R27
3. Reboot system

I also come from lg optimus g. I find that app start faster, the camera is also beter but the most upgrade is battery live. With my optimus g i can not use it heavily through out the day but with one plus i don't need to worry about battery live anymore although my data subscription has been high recently as a result

I came from a Nexus 5 and i find this phone to be a huge improvement over it.
Hardware and software, software it isn't as much fluid on the GUI as the Nexus 5, but that's due to trebuchet. Gaming and browsing is way more fluid. Camera, battery, SoC, screen.. Oh men the opo beats the Nexus 5 like a million times.
The Nexus experience is good, but Google isn't without flaws to.
I love my One, and it is an upgrade in almost every aspect, I was just expecting it to be faster since its an almost top of the line CPU and GPU but oh well I'm happy. Maybe its just CM11S, its quite buggy but I went back for the battery life.

6.0 aosp rom w sprint support

I've tried a couple AOSP-based Marshmallow ROMs and none of them have the option to update Profile and Prl for Sprint. I know by definition AOSP shouldn't have this, since it's something propietary however is there a zip out there one can flash to bring this capability? I don't know if it's possible to take whatever allows this in the Factory Image and make it an add-on for all devs to possibly offer for their ROMs. But that would be .
Every aosp ROM I've used has it. Even the one marshmallow ROM I tried.

That's stock based. AOSP based is the custom roms people build. I tried the chroma beta marshmallow rom and I couldnt even get data on sprint so i'm assuming there was an apn issue as usual. I'm waiting on Twisted Team to release their marshmallow rom because their lollipop rom worked pretty damn good on sprint.
Yea AOSP-based is what I meant.
Thanks for recommending Twisted!
I'm waiting for their M release.

Update on a stock rom. The prl and profile stick. Only caveat is if you have trouble you have to flash back to stock to do it again. The only reason to have to do this is if your data stops working for some reason.

i just updated to cataclysm mm and it has the prl and profile update under more-cellular network-carrier settings. nice rom.

To be fair I think people add apks to most roms based on stock image and actually modify it very little, with the exception of cataclysm, which is heavily modded. AOSP based roms dont have Update Prl/Profile functionality by default because that comes with Sprint's proprietary software (just some additional apks) that needs to be added in.

What's the latest greatest ROM everyone is using for the Idol 3?

I rooted my 6045O last night and I'm excited to try a ROM on this phone. I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/ido...om-cyanogenmod-12-1-alcatel-onetouch-t3225533
But I wanna make sure it's the best ROM for this phone.
you cant read idol 3 section?
Wow thanks for being friendly to the new guy. As I stated, I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better ROM that you guys might know of before I put time into learning about that one.

I'm not for sure either.great work on all though.I'm leaning toward the dcz rom cause from my understanding its fast, smooth and I like stock style roms.
I didn't see a DCZ thread?

If you gonna flash a ROM know that besides dcz, only fully working ROM is cm12.1 also I'm using 60450
Ok so those are my options. Thanks. Do you know any pros/cons of one vs the other?

Well do you want stock ROM with overclock kernel(DCZ) vs the beauty and customization of cyanogenmod?
All dcz rom is a almost fully debloated stock ROM and custom kernel made by team adrv.

If the stock rom did not have such lag I'd suggest the majority stick with it unless you had a specific reason not to. Since it DOES have lag, I'd suggest the i806/DCZ rom since it is a version of stock that should eliminate the lag and work fully with the hardware. All the other rom's have issues of one type or another.
Resurrection Remix still has several things wrong..the camera off the top of my head. CM12.1 still has issues. Currently the cm12.1 dev does not have the device in hand...neither does the resurrection remix dev....working on rom's without the device is similar to driving blindfolded. You are guaranteed to get SOMEWHERE but it may not be where you want to be.
There are only 3 real roms available other than original stock and I HIGHLY recommend you backup your stock with twrp so you can go back to it for system updates. Why are the system updates so important if you are on another rom? They are the only way you can get modem driver mods/improvements among other things.
I'm not sure which I'd prefer at the moment. Guess I'll just read lol

Cm 12.1 (10/29) is most stable on my idol 3 (6045i). Resurrection Remix is not stable. Random reboots, lag and speakers and cam don't work.

Thanks for the tips. I do like performance and stability over anything. So I'll check out DCZ. I've already backed up stock.

What's the best most popular custom rom? wanting to root my nexus 5 for first time.

Hi, what's the best most popular/stable custom rom image? one that's based on marshmallow 6.0+?
Or better yet using the stock android that allows root, which i'm guessing requires a pre modded flash image.
Is this the correct way to root? http://wccftech.com/flash-and-root-nexus-5-on-android-6-0-1-mmb29k/
thanks
Yes sir should be good. There is many to choose from Pure Nexus, Chroma, or CyanogenMod.
Stability is real good with Cataclysm is you can still find it.

1. Read again and again
2. Flash again and again
3. Keep the one that fits your needs
CM based roms are pre-rooted so you don't need to flash SuperSU. BTW the mentioned guide uses outdated information. You should use XDA tutorials instead
