What's the latest greatest ROM everyone is using for the Idol 3? - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my 6045O last night and I'm excited to try a ROM on this phone. I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/ido...om-cyanogenmod-12-1-alcatel-onetouch-t3225533
But I wanna make sure it's the best ROM for this phone.

you cant read idol 3 section?

Wow thanks for being friendly to the new guy. As I stated, I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better ROM that you guys might know of before I put time into learning about that one.

I'm not for sure either.great work on all though.I'm leaning toward the dcz rom cause from my understanding its fast, smooth and I like stock style roms.

I didn't see a DCZ thread?

If you gonna flash a ROM know that besides dcz, only fully working ROM is cm12.1 also I'm using 60450

Ok so those are my options. Thanks. Do you know any pros/cons of one vs the other?

Well do you want stock ROM with overclock kernel(DCZ) vs the beauty and customization of cyanogenmod?
All dcz rom is a almost fully debloated stock ROM and custom kernel made by team adrv.

If the stock rom did not have such lag I'd suggest the majority stick with it unless you had a specific reason not to. Since it DOES have lag, I'd suggest the i806/DCZ rom since it is a version of stock that should eliminate the lag and work fully with the hardware. All the other rom's have issues of one type or another.
Resurrection Remix still has several things wrong..the camera off the top of my head. CM12.1 still has issues. Currently the cm12.1 dev does not have the device in hand...neither does the resurrection remix dev....working on rom's without the device is similar to driving blindfolded. You are guaranteed to get SOMEWHERE but it may not be where you want to be.
There are only 3 real roms available other than original stock and I HIGHLY recommend you backup your stock with twrp so you can go back to it for system updates. Why are the system updates so important if you are on another rom? They are the only way you can get modem driver mods/improvements among other things.

I'm not sure which I'd prefer at the moment. Guess I'll just read lol
Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk

Cm 12.1 (10/29) is most stable on my idol 3 (6045i). Resurrection Remix is not stable. Random reboots, lag and speakers and cam don't work.

Thanks for the tips. I do like performance and stability over anything. So I'll check out DCZ. I've already backed up stock.

Switch from lg ROM to asop?

I have had many phones in the past and I always root and flash cm/aokp/etc roms. But for some reason I love the stock lg ROM. The only problem I am haven't is no one is making kernels for the 4.4.2. Rom and I don't want to back track too 4.2.2.
Has anyone switch to the asop ROM and has been happy with it?

well you do need to remember that 4.4 just came out about a month ago but it rolled out slowly and even now there are devices which haven't been updated yet plus the kernel needs to be modified to support the old boot and thus supporting custom recovery so people would need to incorporate that and the stuff they used in there previous kernels so we must be patient, plus today I saw the first kk kernel surface sadly it was for t-mo but that means can get one soon too
Edit: seems dorimanx might finally start working on kk kernel
Yea having a nexus 4 spoiled me by bad. But the nexus 5 is "half" the phone the g2 is. I'm currently looking at the cloudy roms something that doesn't have a lot of bloat in it but I can't live with out these features lg has incorporated in this rom

I've read a lot of good feedback on the the cloudystock and cloudypro plus I think the nexus is kinda bland in development sure it has a lot roms but there all the same aosp here there is variety flex/pro 2 and good devs/people
Sent from my LG-D800 running stock kk, rooted with philz using XDA app
I've always run CM (since OG Evo) but I was pretty impressed with the G2 stock system. LG has one of the most bloated interfaces on the market, but the camera app was really good.
I pretty much immediately put CM on it, and I'm pretty happy. For one thing, the very important knock-on and knock-off work very well with CM11 M4. The camera isn't quite as good as it is from the stock rom, but it is solid. Certainly a step up from my Nexus 4 on CM.
I might go back and try the LG rom again some more, good luck.

You could try out Rastakat. There are updates every so often, but not to the point where you'll be flashing something every week.
Of course Slimkat updates stable once a month so it's not that frequent. And they are stable so you only update if you want try the new features

[Q] Custom ROM

So... I'm planning to switch to Nexus 5 because my current phone (xperia zl) is lost...
Can you guys suggest me a good custom rom? I mean lag-free (no lag when you pull down the notification drawer), and stable ?
Thanks a lot, sorry if i'm asking such as unimportant question, i'm new in here
Since AOSP is built for Nexus range, they're all about as lag free as each other and all pretty stable.
Just look for the features you want and try the roms...

But i've read on some website said that PA, Carbon, and Mahdi is laging.. .Is that true?
If they are, its users poor setup or certain apps. ?
Stock is noticeably faster than pacman cm based ROM no matter what my settings were.
Going to try a couple more aosp based Roms like rastakat for the missing features from stock.
Will definitely be sticking to aosp Roms now though and not bother with any cm based.

Also pa was definitely faster than pacman but since I didn't run it back to back against stock ROM I can't say if it was slower or faster.

when i was on galaxy s2 of of all roms i had tried cm had the least bugs and cm11 for galaxy s2 was fit for daily use since 3rd build i guess it would be same for all phone !
its written on cm site too that people find cm more stable than other roms. may i know the reason for your opinion?

Cm has always been a battery drain for me since cm6. Its never been more stable than anything else. Maybe their final versions are as stable as everything else, but all their nightlies and everything else released between the final versions always seem to introduce bugs. And they always change stuff that doesn't need changing.
I will never use cm again. Simply awful.

read the xda threads on xda in general, q&a. many many times its cm thats unstable. besides, i spent years on cm, i know what it can be like. anyways, for the nexus 5, there are many roms that id consider more stable than cm.
First time trying a cm based ROM on my n5 and first time I have stability issues. Had to hard reboot cause it wouldn't wake up at all.

6.0 aosp rom w sprint support

I've tried a couple AOSP-based Marshmallow ROMs and none of them have the option to update Profile and Prl for Sprint. I know by definition AOSP shouldn't have this, since it's something propietary however is there a zip out there one can flash to bring this capability? I don't know if it's possible to take whatever allows this in the Factory Image and make it an add-on for all devs to possibly offer for their ROMs. But that would be .
Every aosp ROM I've used has it. Even the one marshmallow ROM I tried.

That's stock based. AOSP based is the custom roms people build. I tried the chroma beta marshmallow rom and I couldnt even get data on sprint so i'm assuming there was an apn issue as usual. I'm waiting on Twisted Team to release their marshmallow rom because their lollipop rom worked pretty damn good on sprint.
Yea AOSP-based is what I meant.
Thanks for recommending Twisted!
I'm waiting for their M release.

Update on a stock rom. The prl and profile stick. Only caveat is if you have trouble you have to flash back to stock to do it again. The only reason to have to do this is if your data stops working for some reason.

To be fair I think people add apks to most roms based on stock image and actually modify it very little, with the exception of cataclysm, which is heavily modded. AOSP based roms dont have Update Prl/Profile functionality by default because that comes with Sprint's proprietary software (just some additional apks) that needs to be added in.

Check out Original Android Development and Android Development sections and look for [5.1.1] tag in the thread(topic) title.
You can install any of them who has this title provided you first look at their flashing procedure mentioned in those threads.
General flashing procedure >> forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/guides-bacon-timmaaas-how-to-guides-t2839471
Try ressurection remix its one of the most stable custom rom and its updated regularly, look for it in android development.
Blisspop and resurrection remix are my all time favourite. Currently in love with smartisan os. (not cyanogen based)
I would suggest using Slimsaber CAF as i'm using it as a daily driver and it's stable. But there are plethora of roms on xda and you can try all of them to find which one suits you the best. Hoenstly, it's all a matter of personal preference and choice. Slimsaber apparently is a stable and "necessary-feature" proof rom. I'm sure you'll like it.
You should try also Sultan's Rom. It's maybe the best Rom for OPO (the 5.1.1 / cm12.1).
If your really adventurous, you could try Sultan's unofficial cm13.0. I'm using it for a daily driver. But, now you can try anything out there since your rooted.

For smooth stable experience go cm 12.1/5.1.1, if u want latest mm then there are some 6.0/cm 13 ROM out also.
and +1 for sultan's ROM. exodus is also good.
Sultans cm13
I second sultans version of CM 13. Its working flawlessly. The snapdragon camera is amazing.
You'll definitely learn a lot about your phone when you start flashing ROMs. Backup often.

Hey there
Mine was also a newly rooted opo just 10days back. The roms I tried in this days where 4. According to my ranking
1.Blisspop
2.Carbon Rom
3.Resurrection remix
4.CM 13.0 (if you want to get a new experience of MM.)
Never tried cm12.1 though. I love customizations and stock cm12.1 doesn't have much.
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
Depends. If you want the regular cm feel go for sultans rom. I really liked it, but it has just about the same looks as mostly every other. It does have some solid cherry picks that set it ahead of the competition.
However, if you want to try something a bit different but also really well made, try miui 7. This is by far my favourite at the moment. Has official oneplus one support. It's a 4.4.4 rom though but I don't care about that. I actually have way better battery life on 4.4.4 and the miui7 feels like a complete product while being beautiful.
If you do, be sure to follow instructions not to have odd problems due to missed steps during install.

I think right now, its SultanXDA, MM.
The battery life in L, was a nightmare, solved on MM. Of course, MM need some time, but the best way to have it perfect earlier possible its helping to the developers finding the bugs.
If you don't want a alpha the Sultan's 5.11 its really nice too.
