I have had many phones in the past and I always root and flash cm/aokp/etc roms. But for some reason I love the stock lg ROM. The only problem I am haven't is no one is making kernels for the 4.4.2. Rom and I don't want to back track too 4.2.2.
Has anyone switch to the asop ROM and has been happy with it?

well you do need to remember that 4.4 just came out about a month ago but it rolled out slowly and even now there are devices which haven't been updated yet plus the kernel needs to be modified to support the old boot and thus supporting custom recovery so people would need to incorporate that and the stuff they used in there previous kernels so we must be patient, plus today I saw the first kk kernel surface sadly it was for t-mo but that means can get one soon too
Edit: seems dorimanx might finally start working on kk kernel
Yea having a nexus 4 spoiled me by bad. But the nexus 5 is "half" the phone the g2 is. I'm currently looking at the cloudy roms something that doesn't have a lot of bloat in it but I can't live with out these features lg has incorporated in this rom

I've read a lot of good feedback on the the cloudystock and cloudypro plus I think the nexus is kinda bland in development sure it has a lot roms but there all the same aosp here there is variety flex/pro 2 and good devs/people

I've always run CM (since OG Evo) but I was pretty impressed with the G2 stock system. LG has one of the most bloated interfaces on the market, but the camera app was really good.
I pretty much immediately put CM on it, and I'm pretty happy. For one thing, the very important knock-on and knock-off work very well with CM11 M4. The camera isn't quite as good as it is from the stock rom, but it is solid. Certainly a step up from my Nexus 4 on CM.
I might go back and try the LG rom again some more, good luck.

Hello, so far I stuck with stock roms... first ICS now leaked JB... I really would like a plain vanilla jb rom still retaining the great features of the SGS3... can anybody point me in the right direction?

No such thing, as vanilla android is unaltered, i.e. the nexus devices.
I would say that cyanogen mod is probably as close as you'll get. Aokp is close too but has much more customization options.

There isn't one. Use cm10 and don't use the customization. Also you will not have the s3 features like motion controls, camera, etc.
You're best bet is to try a couple out and find what works for you.

I'm gonna work on building vanilla JB rom as soon as the semester ends......don't have enough time till then :\ Should be convenient timing as a lot of the leg-work is already complete
I've already started working on one, but its not looking very promising so far. Its really really difficult getting the build to cooperate, and then once I finally do get it to cooperate thenaybe it won't take too long to get some of the initial kinks ironed out so people can start testing. But at least if I cannot get the bugs worked out enough to post it for people to use there is someone else who will begin working on it shortly. So hopefully we will have a pure AOSP ROM soon, one way or another.

Omega ROM
Give Omega ROM a try, there is an optional to remove all SGS3 default bloatware that comes with it when you flash the ROM.
I am using it because this ROM is having all other SGS3 features like the motion control, stock camera, etc.:good:

I'm very happy with Jelly Beans ROM... It is aosp themed but touch wiz based! Best of both worlds if anybody was looking for an aosp ROM check this out

Giving my wife the White Galaxy S3 Verizon for Xmas and wanted to get recommendation which stock based ROM to install?
1. Hyperdrive
2. Jelly "Beans"
3. Axis
4. stock Verizon 4.1.2
5. other 4.1.2 based
I'm primarily interested in rock solid stability, and some of the Touchwiz experience. She might be getting the Note 3 in the future so I want her to get used to using some of Samsung apps. I have a second S3 for me and I'm testing 4.4 roms, currently installed CyanFox. So please keep discussion relevant to 4.1.2 roms and experience. I know 4.3 is out for Verizon, but I'll wait for Devs to build it into ROMs.
thanks and see visist my blog

Lol! Can't go wrong with those.
Light and clean (more optimized, less theming):
Tkrom, bonestock, cleanrom, obsessed
More heavily modified (extra mods and themes,):
Hyperdrive, goodness, axis, jellybeans, moar, wicked sensations, the people's rom
I'm maybe leaving a few out, but look them over and see what you want. If you want something simple and easy you can't go wrong with the top 4.
Some phones handle roms better than others, so if one isn't working out well then don't be afraid to try another.
I also want to point out that you have to make sure your wife's phone isn't on the 4.3 base (vrucml1). If it is, do not flash any custom roms, that bootloader is completely locked down.

I've tried every single 4.1.2 TW rom out there, and my phone seems to run the best (least "Touchwiz" lag) on Hyperdrive with faux kernel. Completely stable, too. I also like the multitude of changes you can apply. However, you really can't go wrong with any of them. They all are great!
Like the above comment mentioned, make sure the OTA wasn't taken, although you probably know this.
They are all great, try them all.
As XDA is not a support site, users are expected to make this determination based on their own, individual use.

So Who all prefers to run CM mod over the stock firmware? I`ve never been a fan of it but I loaded it on my Nexus 5 earlier and things seem a lot snappier how stable is it? Im running the latest Snapshot, and I like the idea that I can update without wiping. I`ve just never been a fan of it due to Ive always like say the G2 skins and such.
If your running m2 you should flash the latest nightly, there were kernel issues that have been fixed and things are pretty sweet right now, i was a little skeptical about the direction the rom was going at first but I'm really happy with it in its current state

I've tried a couple AOSP-based Marshmallow ROMs and none of them have the option to update Profile and Prl for Sprint. I know by definition AOSP shouldn't have this, since it's something propietary however is there a zip out there one can flash to bring this capability? I don't know if it's possible to take whatever allows this in the Factory Image and make it an add-on for all devs to possibly offer for their ROMs. But that would be .
Every aosp ROM I've used has it. Even the one marshmallow ROM I tried.

That's stock based. AOSP based is the custom roms people build. I tried the chroma beta marshmallow rom and I couldnt even get data on sprint so i'm assuming there was an apn issue as usual. I'm waiting on Twisted Team to release their marshmallow rom because their lollipop rom worked pretty damn good on sprint.
Yea AOSP-based is what I meant.
Thanks for recommending Twisted!
I'm waiting for their M release.

People build custom ROM's based on stock and AOSP.

Update on a stock rom. The prl and profile stick. Only caveat is if you have trouble you have to flash back to stock to do it again. The only reason to have to do this is if your data stops working for some reason.

i just updated to cataclysm mm and it has the prl and profile update under more-cellular network-carrier settings. nice rom.

To be fair I think people add apks to most roms based on stock image and actually modify it very little, with the exception of cataclysm, which is heavily modded. AOSP based roms dont have Update Prl/Profile functionality by default because that comes with Sprint's proprietary software (just some additional apks) that needs to be added in.
I rooted my 6045O last night and I'm excited to try a ROM on this phone. I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/ido...om-cyanogenmod-12-1-alcatel-onetouch-t3225533
But I wanna make sure it's the best ROM for this phone.
you cant read idol 3 section?
Wow thanks for being friendly to the new guy. As I stated, I seen the big thread on the CyanogenMod 12.1. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a better ROM that you guys might know of before I put time into learning about that one.

I'm not for sure either.great work on all though.I'm leaning toward the dcz rom cause from my understanding its fast, smooth and I like stock style roms.
I didn't see a DCZ thread?

If you gonna flash a ROM know that besides dcz, only fully working ROM is cm12.1 also I'm using 60450
Ok so those are my options. Thanks. Do you know any pros/cons of one vs the other?

Well do you want stock ROM with overclock kernel(DCZ) vs the beauty and customization of cyanogenmod?
All dcz rom is a almost fully debloated stock ROM and custom kernel made by team adrv.

If the stock rom did not have such lag I'd suggest the majority stick with it unless you had a specific reason not to. Since it DOES have lag, I'd suggest the i806/DCZ rom since it is a version of stock that should eliminate the lag and work fully with the hardware. All the other rom's have issues of one type or another.
Resurrection Remix still has several things wrong..the camera off the top of my head. CM12.1 still has issues. Currently the cm12.1 dev does not have the device in hand...neither does the resurrection remix dev....working on rom's without the device is similar to driving blindfolded. You are guaranteed to get SOMEWHERE but it may not be where you want to be.
There are only 3 real roms available other than original stock and I HIGHLY recommend you backup your stock with twrp so you can go back to it for system updates. Why are the system updates so important if you are on another rom? They are the only way you can get modem driver mods/improvements among other things.
I'm not sure which I'd prefer at the moment. Guess I'll just read lol
Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
Cm 12.1 (10/29) is most stable on my idol 3 (6045i). Resurrection Remix is not stable. Random reboots, lag and speakers and cam don't work.

Thanks for the tips. I do like performance and stability over anything. So I'll check out DCZ. I've already backed up stock.
