Lolipop update successful in india through htc sync - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I was really worried when dottat said that many non verizon cellular users did not get cell service after lolipop update. But I am happy to inform that u can update it using htc sync manager and there is no issues with cell phone service etc.Its absolutely fine. There are only 2 issues which we all are facing from 4.4.4.Unknown sim card icon and Portable hotspot setup same issues. Just wanted to know from senior forum members whether you are facing android is upgrading message after you hard reset your phone. Becoz After updating My phone showed that it is being upgrading as in optimising apps around 279 apps. After i wiped my phone and again same process after reboot.Any one else having this kind of process or its just me

I also can confirm this.I wanted to root my phone, but two days ago i connected my phone with computer and HTC Sync Manager showed me a notification for update.

Same here
I just updated to lolipop and found apps updating for more than 15 min, but i found that its normal process which takes in htc one m8.
try to uninstall bloatware using root uninstaller, so for next time u can reduce the apps updation for some time.

[Q] lg optimus net p690 laggy after air update

I recently bought lg optimus net p690. It was running very good. I rooted it 3-4 days ago. There was no problem after rooting. It was running the same good. But while using wifi I ran the "software update" from phone. It downloaded an 18MB file and then updated phone and restarted. After that my phone has become very laggy. It runs slowly. When I slide to change homescreens, they change very slowly. applications too are laggy now. sometimes they crash...
now I want that previous firmware that was running good.
I tried to reset my phone (settings>privacy>erase) but nothing improved (my apps got deleted ).
I dont remember what was the previous firmware version or any thing.. but this is what is displays
Android version 2.3.4
Software version v10e-Jan-06-2012
How do I roll back to the previous version of firmware.. pls help!!
Only death can not be fixed.
How do you know that you downloaded a new fimware or just some application updates?
Did you take note of the software version? (Under Settings/About/Software).
Did it give you any warning about losing your Apps? (Titanium Back-Up is for backing-up Apps).
You can not "roll-back" firmware if you did not do a ROM (also called nandroid) back-up first...
But don't dispair, because If a ROM is not working for you, wether it is stock (Manufacturer) or not, you can get something better here!
Check this post out:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388831
Cheers, and don't despair, rooting is just the first step to a long and fun path!
BTW, you might have to root it again, but you already know how to.

Opps.... Forgot to ask... Did you do a "reset" (Hold Power down and choose reset phone)? A simple reset can solve A LOT of things, better than just pulling the battery out, so try that first and let us know what happened.
Again, you have to ENJOY getting into phones. You will learn a lot while failing and trying again!
i did reset from phone settings. not a hard reset.
it displayed "updating firmware" during the update process.
where can i get custom roms for lg p690? i dont know how to install them. pls help

Hi what country version is your phone?

what is stock rom

stock rom
Hi,
a stock rom is the software that is on your phone when you bought and don't have a branding on it.
yeah basically, its the software that came with your phone straight out the box.
untouched/unmodded/etc
software that is on your phone when you bought and don't have a branding on it.
if i rooted my device and i backed up that ROM, does that count as Stock ROM too?
i understand that there are modified ROM's out there that can be installed (flashed), so rooting does not count as modifying the ROM...right?

no that is just a stock rom you have added busybox su binary and superuser app to it .
You can fully unroot that. and it ll be again like your old stock rom
its kinda in it name..little research goes a long way.

i think after updating phone using ota service some time changed kernel version and custom rom not supporting that kernel so they tell us to flash stock before install their rom.

Hello. If I rooted my phone (with Kingo Android Root) and then unrooted, but did not make a backup, is there any hope of restoring the phone? I did not flash a new rom. I had only copied my SD card files to my PC. I'm stuck at the set-up stage (I get force-close each time). Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks much

Odd - I had an update last week on unbranded UK HTC Chacha but my new version number is
1.54.401.3???
i got this update yesterday (it wasnt in there about month ago) .but like jporch my software number is 1.54.401.3 .i guess it's because my rom is european (even though im iranian ) like yours, jporch.
an interesting point is , i had this known "dialer" issue, too .but it sounds like it is fixed. the dialer application was on 98% before the update all the time ; no matter what common fix i applied ( eg turning on the bluetooth, check off those three options(fliper and.. ) in Setting>Sound ...) but now it works ok . it's on 3% (even without those quick known fixes i mentioned.but i havent measured the time that battery can hold on since i updated it yesterday.
still no fix for the internal memory.
these are my experiences with this new system update.
Hello.
I had update software and now WiFi doesn't work. Any help???
Which version was before, I want to go back to it. Now is 1.54.401.3

i have no idea why.but i would suggest a master reset if the other members has the same opinion..?

and btw , my phone dialer again went wrong to 97% again after a day. i dont know why ! and the day after that it went back to 49% !!!! (which is between 97 and 3 % ).the only thing that im suspicious of is this fix that i applied (pm setInstallLocation 2)
Yeah - i checked dialer imediately after i updated and it went straight to 98% - since then its been on 49% exactly almost every day since????

Okay ill run it later. I've not done anything else just rooted. Recovery is all stock, ROM is stock etc. Just rooted the stock ROM for Link2SD.
Hope this works !
Can we get any improvement from HTC in this new ROM
I ended up not running this update. I found out why it was crashing and fixed it. I'm afraid to update and lose root, apparently you can't go back.

[Q] Transferring data from old phone to Bacon

Hey,
I just got my OnePlus One in hands like an our ago...It's a beautiful beast.. ^_^ very happy with the performance and has no issue with the build yet.
Coming to the point I have 2 questions i my mind.
1. I was wondering if i could totally transfer all my stuff from my old device (which is MOTO E running CM11) to this device without usin internet(like over wifi or via PC or anything like that) .. and by stuff i mean all contacts,messages,audio-videos,pics,apps,my customizations etc..
2. I am an Indian user and having the device which as sold in India only. I heard that OnePlus Partnered with "Waves" to add "MaxxAudio". Does anybody have any idea if We Indian users are gonna get that update or not? and if we won't then, will We guys be able to flah that update somehow?
Hoping for some quick replies soon... Can't Wait..!

The easiest way to transfer the stuff from your old phone to your OPO is by backing it up to your PC and then copying it to your OPO. That'll be fine for your media, but you're gonna have to download your apps again (there's an app called Helium that claims to backup apps without root but it doesn't really work), and you definitely can't transfer any customisations from phone to phone. There are several apps that you can use to backup sms/mms to an xml file, which you can transfer to your OPO with your media, and then install the same app on your OPO and use it to restore the backed up sms/mms.
Now, there's some crazy stuff going on in regards to the Indian OnePlus situation. You're definitely not getting Cyanogen updates, and all new devices from now on will be shipped with an in-house OnePlus ROM in place of Cyanogen. It isn't certain whether MaxxAudio will be only on Cyanogen devices, or only on the OnePlus ROM devices, or on both, so it's impossible to answer that question. But, if you do want to continue using Cyanogen on your device you'll be able to update it manually because all the updates are always posted here on XDA.

Here's a good sms backup app:

Install myphoneexplorer in PC and then create backup from old phone and restore to new phone

[Boost J700p] System update missing in Options

Hi all,
I have a Boost J700p and i messed around with some different updates and roms, and somehow lost the options for system update, update PRL & update profile in the setting menu. It's just not there anymore. Plus, my phone thinks my carrier is now Sprint, which is odd but everything works properly aside from update function missing.
This is the case even after flashing the latest updated stock rom J700PVPU1APH4_J700PSPT1APH4_J700PVPU1APH4_HOME from this thread
Any idea how to get it back or at least get to those options some other way?
Thanks
You might have flashed a debloated ROM, which removes all bloat apps including the system update app. And since you're using mod ROM, you wont be able to get update even if you have the app, its better to remove it (which is what they did).
For the carrier, one of the mod did it possibly to help activate Google Now or other regional lock app

If you want to update, you can install Smart Switch on PC and plug in your phone to check for updates
