So I've had CyanogenMod 12 Nightly installed on my phone for a while now and I wanted to flash a custom kernel but they are all for Android 5.0.1 instead of 5.0.2. Will it still cooperate and function?

In all likelihood, probably not. Kernels are generally very version specific.

I would use either SlimLP or SlimKat. Both are past 4.2.2 and smoother.
I tried to download Android 5.1 factory image from Google and found out there was none.
So I built one, for testing.
This is a user build of Android 5.1 AOSP with 5.0.1 blobs, so do not expect this to be rock stable.
Gapps for Android 5.1 also missing, you may have trouble getting Play Store to work.
Flash at your own RISK!
1. Download the ROM (XDA DevDB) and extract.
2. Reboot to bootloader
2.1. Unlock bootloader
3. 'fastboot -w'
[THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE]
4. 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'
5. 'fastboot flash system system.img'
6. Reboot

first impressions from setting up and installing all the apps i had on before hand i can really tell its smother, this is what android 5.0 should have been...
thank you arter for building this, it means i dont have to
The 5.1 binaries for this device arn't out yet are they?
Does anyone have an idea if the 5.0.2 Nexus 7 (flo) binaries will compile and work with the Android AOSP 5.1 source ?
Thanks!

They work just fine. I've been running 5.1 on my flo for a couple days.
I'm surprising there's a lack of posts on this since everyone seems to want 5.1. I guess people are either waiting for the stock OTA or CM. I'm fine with keeping my tablet stock and this will do nicely.

Some users after clean ROM being dead are reverted to the first near stock choice they saw that was the grogg's ROM.
Since the post is pure stock I don't know shy
I have both Roms running both running great!
I am not comparing any Roms here or trying to discourage anybody, just saying...
Sorry if I did posted anything wrong!
•Hit thanks if I helped you..

Maybe you can but a clean wile is always recommended.Do a backup first.
And you can use Titanium Backup for backing up all things .

I have been using various 5.1 roms for the past 3 weeks... Lollipop roms are constantly giving me problems. So i want to try a 4.4 ROM...
Which is the most stable 4.4 ROM the OPO has ever got..??
It needs to have the best battery life and lot of customisations...
And should I flash a stock 4.4 ROM before trying any custom kitkat rom..?

See my post below, running CM11s with Boeffla's kernel (with touch fixes). You could set it up as a secondary on multirom. You just need to flash the cm11s modem. See the other link below for running lollipop and CM11s alongside each other.

CM11S (44S or 05Q) is actually the most stable kitkat rom
You can find AOSP kitkat rom(Stock Android) on oneplus forums build by oneplus team
If you want any add-ons, you can install xposed with the above ROMs
I'm wanting to do an miui port but couldn't find any 4.4.4 roms for my device (xt1225)
Does anyone got one?
No. Not a 4.4.4 ROM, but possibly a kernel.
The first custom ROM we got was CM12 (5.0.2) which was Lollipop, over a year ago (March 2015, before Motorola gave us Lollipop). The CM dev @Skrilax_CZ wrote the kernel for the CM ROM, and it was based on the Moto 4.4.4 kernel at the time -- even though it was Lollipop ROM.
Then, for CM12.1 (Lollipop 5.1.1), he used the Motorola 5.0.2 kernel sources.
But for that original CM12, the kernel was based on 4.4.4. He adapted it to work on Lollipop. So, not sure it would work with a 4.4.4 ROM. You would have to ask him.
ALL custom ROMs for the Quark in this forum, no matter whether CM-based (CM, Resurrection Remix, Sony Xperia) or AOSP (Mokee, Nexus Experience) use @Skrilax_CZ kernel. You will have to do the same, unless you want to write your own.
There were no 4.4.4 custom ROMs for this phone. Besides stock 4.4.4 factory image, the first custom ROM was CM12 (Lollipop).
Why do you want 4.4.4 custom ROM for this phone? It's not like MIUI is stuck on 4.4.4
I see a MIUI Marshmallow ROM right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...rom-miui-lollipop-5-1-1-lenovo-a6000-t3304261
I see MIUI Lollipop here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...rom-miui-lollipop-5-1-1-lenovo-a6000-t3304261
Either Lollipop or Marshmallow MIUI would be your best bet to port, as you would have @Skrilax_CZ Lollipop or Marshmallow kernel to work with.
If you port Miui to whatever version I want try it
Hello I'm currently running kitkat 4.4.4, Cm 11.0xnph44s on my One plus one (64gb). I wanted to flash the Aosp extended ROM but not sure about Gapps, which platform on gapps should I choose, and Android Oreo 8.0 or 8.1? Also which variant do I pick also. I have unlocked my boatloader when flashed cm12 previously do it need to be done every time before flashing a ROM?
Why does my twrp get overwritten by stock recovery?
Aosp extended or LineageOS better ROM?

You are posting in the development section. You can get the answers from the thread of the rom you are wanting to flash.
I am about to flash Lineage os 15.1 on my OPO. I am looking for the gapps package that comes with Google face unlocking feature, which one should I flash flash (full, stock, micro, pico)?
