Hey guys, so here's another problem that has nothing to do with upgrading or using a custom rom, and it might be difficult for you to help me solve because it involves a French ISP but I might as well give it a shot as I'm desperate for a solution.
See, for some reason, even though when I'm at my uni accom I can connect to my router with a WPA key without any trouble whatsoever, when I'm at my mother's, the only thing that works is WEP, but it's only with my device. Thing is I don't wanna permanently switch her Internet box to WEP seeing as it's not very secure at all anymore. All the laptops and even my 3DS can connect without any problem. Any idea where this might come from?

Hi all,
I try not to post too often, and just do a lot of reading and studying and learning.
Anyway, I am running MrFrazz's WM6aR2, and having an issue with active sync and my laptop. Everytime I try to connect to any wireless internet while active sync is running, I lose the connection and can not recover it. It runs fine if I have not hooked up the phone. Once I connect, thats it, and I have to reboot the computer to get it back. I just reflashed some other ROM's on my phone playing around, and did not like them, so I went back. Now it is doing this. Anyone out there think they canhelp me figure this one out?
On your computer go to the activesync app, click on file and then on connection settings and then check the box that says allow wireless connection on device when connected to the desktop.
It still does it even then. I have tried adjusting all of the setting. I am pretty computer competant, and dabble in programming, but this one has me stumped. Anything else I may be missing??
I think I miss read what your actual problem is. Is your phone losing it's wireless connection or is your laptop losing it? If your laptops the one that's losing its wireless connection then it sounds like it's having problem running 2 connections at once. This is just a shot in the dark and probably won't help at all, but try making your connection to you phone a static connection and leave your wifi connection dynamic or vice versa and see if that helps. If not, maybe deleting both of the connections and letting your laptop reinstall the connections might help. Like I said, both suggestions are just a shot in the dark, but there shouldn't be any reason that it wouldn't use both connections at the same time that I can think of unless it's trying to assign the same ip address to both connections but they shouldn't even be in the same range.
My VOX has stopped communicating to my router. This appears to have happened since I accidently deleted profile but that could be co-incidence..
It sees my network...
Settings VOX
Net type INTERNET
Auth WPA 2
AES
USE IEEE 802.1x YES
AEP type: Smart Card or certificate
Settings WAG200G nothing really relevent here except to say AES as above.
My phone seems to connect WITHOUT encryption but when I add encryption (with real simple password) this is where the phone can't connect for some reason... My laptop is still connected to the router without any problems there is no MAC filter or anything like that.
Anyone please help!
BTW tried hard reset not helped.
i have the exactly same problem. i tried other kinds of config on my router but nothing worked.without encripton or password it connects...
Not connecting to WIFI
Seems more people have this problem?
WPA2 does seem to be a problem. Personally I also use fixed IP, but never got my phone connected to my home network.
@work I use WEP and DHCP, no problem connecting.
@home I use, as mentioned, WPA2, AES, Fixed IP, router.
If anybody got a simple answer...?
btw, I got this problem after using other roms(for almost a year now). Basic HTC rom (WM 6.0 :-( ) seems to work fine.
Half connected in fact
Hi, I'm also getting a wifi problem after installing the RUU_Vox_HTC_FRA_1.34.406.1_4.1.13.54_03.10.90_Ship ROM (and thus resetting everything in the profile), but I wonder if it's really the same thing.
My phone connects to the wifi, gets an IP (both the phone and the router show the same IP attributed), but PIE and Outlook Pocket can not use the network. It's just like they couldn't see the network. But they don't use Edge either to connect, so they probably somehow try to send data to the network, but they fail.
Oh, and WEP encryption changes nothing. And I can't test with fully removing the encryption, as I use an internet box, not a standard router.
What I don't get is that I was browsing just fine on this ROM and the same config in my router I wish someone with more knowledge would spare a minute to help us out here or at least point us in the right direction
Solved
I upgraded the firmware on my router... :d thx
HI,
My raph100 won't connect to even an unsecured open network! I've searched and searched and tried:
selecting 'best performance'
manual ip/gateway setting etc
new rom
using advanced config to disable wpa authentication
xdandroid
the 'configure wireless connection settings' finds my network, changes to 'connecting' and then after a while goes back to 'available'
i really don't know what else to do. i bought second had on ebay but fear i won't be able to get a refund.
i will look for some kind of hardware diagnostic tool to try and prove it's faulty.
i've seen that alot of people have this problem but solutions only work for some. lame.
hi again,
i plugged in a new access point to my router and set it up using another channel. touch pro connected no problem and i even used wep. however, for unrelated reasons i did a hard reset and now it won't connect again?!
this is driving me crazy any ideas?

Hi!
Since Honeycomb 3.2 there is an issue with bluetooth tethering. The first time it works, but after disconnecting you won't be able to reconnect until you have rebooted the Xoom!
That's absolutely annoying... And I think at least for root-users (like me) there should be another way.
I couldn't find any fix on the internet. But I think it should be possible to maybe reload the bluetooth kernel module or something. Maybe it's mobule bcm4329? Does anyone know how to do that (modprobe doesn't work).
Or are there any other ideas?

My bluetooth connection wasnt reliable with bluetooth tethering either. I found though that when i did tether id only use the connection for like 30 minutes at most. If thats the case you should update to the latest version of wifi tethering from google v3.1 beta. Because when you tether wifi with that it tethers in infrastructure mode instead of ad-hoc that way your xoom can see it and connect with no problem. its completely reliable for me. And works flawlessly. ive had countless issues using bluetooth (Almost never was able to connect to network. only able to be paired)
if you do go that route. After connecting your xoom, make sure you have access control checked and that your device is in the list and enabled in wifi tethering then save.
Generally WiFi-Tether is no problem. I'm accessing the internet through my HTC with CM7 and Gingerbread offers WiFi-Hotspot by stock. But the point is, that this really drains your phone's battery if you just leave it connected.
Using Bluetooth-Tethering with the root-app Wireless Tether installed on my phone, the battery lasts much longer. Of course the connection is slower, but for mails etc. that doesn't matter. With Honeycomb 3.1 it worked great, but since 3.2 it simply won't reconnect until you reboot... You can even unpair and repair the devices etc., it doesn't help. After rebooting the Xoom it connect like a charm...
I think there has to be a way to just restart the bluetooth-module or something... But I don't know how.
Hey guys,
is there no one out there, who can help? If you search the internet, you find a lot of people, who are having this problem - no one even has a workaround.
The fact is, during reboot all the services and kernel-modules are reloaded (of course). So if s.o. could just say which service/module is responsible for bluetooth-tethering and how to restart/reload it without a reboot, this could already be very helpful!
I have an idea!
OK, I'm a little stuck, but I've got new information.
Obviously it's a DHCP-issue. Seems like the DHCP-client on the Xoom doesn't pick up a new IP anymore... If you type netcfg in a terminal emulator, you'll find that.
With su dhcpcd you often can push it get an IP! Then, after that, you sometimes can connect several times without problems, but connecting to WiFi again can be problematic...
Any ideas? Is there another way to make the dhcp-client get an IP?
My idea is to set up a static IP for that interface bnep0, but I can't find the proper config-file... Can someone tell me how to set up a static IP only for that single interface?
i am running wireless tether 2.08 which has Bluetooth wifi built in and I also have the same issues. Hopefully someone will come up with a fix for this. I kind of prefer running my Evo with Bluetooth than wifi since it does not run hot
No one has found a fix, yet?
At work we installed a new WiFi router a few months back. The connection is open and no one needs a password to connect to it. But many who bought android phones recently arent able to connect to it. I have a OnePlus One with android 4.4.4 which doesnt connect to the WiFi. My colleagues own Xiaomi, Motorola phones which they bought recently, which also doesnt connect to the internet.
The phones detect the WiFi signal, says the network is saved but fails to connect to it no matter what. The temporary solution is to make our laptop into a WiFi router and use it but this is seriously annoying. The router is from HP and I dont know the exam model number for it at the moment
I will be grateful if someone can find any solution for this problem. Also, I am a novice when it comes to gadgets so, if your suggestion is to manually set up my WiFi settings please do so with clear instructions or a video of some sort. However I will be happy if this problem gets solved in a straightforward manner.
Please help!

No need to configure wifi on your device IMO.
Sounds like an issue with the wifi router.
To check an fix the internet settings of the wifi router, you will need the adminstrative access/console/password for the router.
Then you can check that all new devices afre allowed to connect. On some routers you can restrict the access to a list of known devices or by enabling a MAC address filtering.
If you find such options on the HP wifi router, disable it and restart the wifi.
And make sure that the SSID of the wifi network is visible (= not hidden). Some Android devices have issue connecting to hidden networks.
Thread closed. Thank you.
