Get timduru develope for TF700T - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi there,
Not so long ago I bought a TF300T. It had a nice 5.0 ROM from Timduru (called KatKiss).
I wanted a better resolution tablet so I got a TF700T. I installed almost every possible ROM, but at least all the recommended ones, but none of them were close to the smoothness of timduru's ROM. Some ROMs were fine for a few days, but after few days, and a few hours of use, it got so slow, that it hurts.
I talked to timduru, and he told, that he would develope for TF700T, but he needs one, and it costs approximately 180 Euro in his country.
I know, that the developers here make a lot off efforts, and I'm very thankful for their work, but I think it would be great to get timduru, because he made some real magic with the TF300T.
I know, that KatKiss ROM runs on TF700T after installing another kernel, and tinkering the solution, but I think the kernel needs some more work too.
I know, that it hardly belongs to developement, but I hope, that it will get more attention here, and the TF700 community can benefit from it. So I made a campaign to fundraise this money. If the campaign doesn't succeed everyone get their money back.
Please spread the word!

I am really excited for this, but as a freshman in high school, I can't afford it I hope this goal is reached!!! I am currently running his TF300 rom on my tf700 with a tf700 kernel.

Support it. Have KatKiss on my 700 with sdbag´s kernel. Would be great to have an own ROM for the infinity. Donated.
It´s a makeable goal if everyone does a little contribution...

Thank you in the name of TF700 community.
As you say, if everyone contributes a bit, we can make it, and have a great tablet instead of a nice but sluggish concept.

Thank you for everybody who donated, but I couldn't manage to pull the donations (as it requires a US bank account), so the site will refund the donations.
The good news, that @timduru bought a TF700T anyway.
If you are happy for his great work, donate directly to him.

Gtab Dev Appreciation Thread

I know everyone keeps saying thanks for all you hard work, but I do not think we can thank you enough.
I will not list all of the Gtab Dev's, you know who you all are.
I just wanted to start this thread for us that have been here from the beginning of the gtab and it's place here on XDA From one huge thread to it's own home.
This will also give those new user's an idea of who here help make this device a better device and who Viewsonic really needs to thank for current and future sales.
Everyone, please keep the thread on track (this is not a place for questions and answers and discussions of apps, roms and such)
just say "THANKS"
Twelve ounce solute to all XDA devs
Thanks!!!

GRACIAS!!
Thanks Roebeet and others!
I can truly say this thing would be back without the dev's hard work. Thanks !
I did return one early on...Then kept reading the posts and went back and bought another one.
Added tnt 2.2 "liked it alot"
But the VEGAn build beta2 has passed them all by. This thing is so nice now.
iPhone ipad what are those Consumer devices... they seem like old crippled OS's from the past. Remember WM5 ??? No I forgot the minute I went to Treo. Remember Treo..no I forgot the minute I went to iPhone 1st gen. Now...
Remember iPhone 4/3gs no I forgot the minute I got a Android Samsung Captivate. Now the circle is complete with the Viper Tablet( G tablet with VEGAN beta xx)!
Obrigado !
Oh with out a doubt!! Us and Viewsonic owes these guys ...I was so disappointed when I first got my g tab home and saw how slow it was. I actually boxed it back up and was going to return it the following day. I stumbled on this site and stayed up all night tweaking my new favorite toy.
Big thank you. I bought one the first day but took it back. I just bought another one after seeing the great options given us by the great cooks here!
Wowsher
This has been one of the most active and resourceful forums I've been a part of. Many many thanks to Roebeet and the other developers for their tireless contributions to the forum and for making the Viewsonic G Tablet a wonderful choice.
Thank you! I would have returned this device had I not stumbled across this great site!
You have made an android noob look great! I love my device now and Thank all the Developers and users out there!
I'm with you guys I never would've bought this device if it wasn't for the days of reading threads on xda and seeing the support itbwas getting. I knew it couldn't be bad if it was getting so much love from the devs. THANK YOU!!! For making putting the tegra 2 to good use
Thanks!
very, very much appreciated!
Its been fun to watch all the collaboration and hard work.
Thanks!!
All the hard work is very appreciated here.
Its like the old 6 million doller man TV show in the 70's: We can rebuild it... better, stronger, faster. Indeed they did.
Thank you ALL, for all of your hard work. Without you, the G-tab would be dead.
THANKS
thanks I almost returned it. I switch roms about 3 to 4 days from roebeet to CM6 to TNT lite
Much respect to the devs.
My turn!
Rothnic, many thanks for your initial zPad roms, your subsequent dealings with their devs to bridge the gap, and your amazing work with the VEGAn build.
GoJimi, your work on the VEGAn is nothing short of amazing and we wouldn't even have a build without you. I was ready to give up on it before you got alpha 1 working.
Bekit. Clockworkmod. I think we all know how important that tool is in our build work. And your nvflash work has made it possible to restore an otherwise bricked device. I can't thank you enough for that.
Proengin. You've been the middle man between myself and Modaco / Malata, and your info has helped us immensely with our builds.
To everyone who I've mentioned in my build posts (there's a lot of you out there). Every tip and fix you've helped with has made our devices better.
And to the community here -- your testing and feedback have helped enormously to make a mediocre device great. There are numerous things you've suggested that I would have never even thought of, and now I get to reap the benefits of, on my own device!
THANKS!!!
Roebeet, I can't that you enough! I've been following your mods since I found myself frustrated with my first Eken and I came across your WPDN mods on slatedroid which prompted me to go out and get one of those and then when you got a gTab I jumped on that bandwagon too and again have you to thank for a device that works much better than it did out of the box. Thanks again to you and anyone else who has contributed to your efforts. If our paths ever cross I look forward to buying you a drink.
Another person of great help to this newbie is Wasserkapf. He has been most patient, and kind to me as I embark on my journey with the G Tablet. Thanks!

I'm thrilled!

Hi All,
Just a note to say Thanks A Million!
The hard work of the developers have turned a nice piece of hardware into pleasant and fun tablet.
I do hope that you continue your excellent work, and that Viewsonic gets their act together. Or maybe they just release hardware and let the community do with it what they will.
Thanks again!
Agreed.
This would be a crap device if it weren't for the developers here. Upon my initial power up I got at least 15 force close messages and couldn't even connect to WiFi to perform a system update. Two hours later, thanks to the tools/info available via this forum I was happily running a custom ROM and downloading apps from the marketplace.
Gotta agree. The difference between owning a brick and owning a great machine is XDA developers and this forum. Is there another example of a new piece of hardware being rescued from Glitch Oblivion like the G-Tablet?
Thanks again!
I just ordered my G Tab today! By week's end I should be ready to do some hacking. I have done it plenty of times on my Droid so I'm pretty sure it will be a breeze with this device. Thanks devs!
I just got around to turning mine on this weekend, and I agree. I can see why so many people returned this thing. Out of the box, I would have. Thank goodness, I knew about xda-developers from when I got my Android phone.
I spent a little over an hour, and while there are still things I want to do, and still little quirks here and there, I am really enjoying this device (Vegan ROM), and am excited to play with it some more.
Thanks for everyone here for making this thing worth the money (especially now that I see the cost of the Xoom!)
I thought my Gtab was cool from the start 0_o but yeah the reason why I bought it was XDA I read that it was easily rooted . Plus look at the Xoom 800 bucks.. Really?
Have to second that!
My experience has been the same. Bought my G at the end of November after seeing it at Staples. The stock UI really was uninspiring, but in my experience with it, it was rock steady. I stayed stock until this weekend when I flashed TntLite 4.2.2 - man, what a difference that made! The G changed from bland and mildly disappointing to a quick and flexible piece of equipment.
My thanks to the devs for their work. I've lurked here for about two months attempting to pick up on installation tips and general impressions of the different ROMs. I'd say it has paid off because my install went easily; I was able to handle the google framework force closes after a quick search through the forum.
After a time with Tnt, I'll likely give Vegan a go!
Thanks again to all who develop, mod, and share their experiences here.
Thanks echoed and put my order in today...
Just wanted to say thanks (in advance) for all the great support the developers have given the community. I've been ogling tablets for a while now, looking for a replacement for my Archos 5 IT (which I still love and will still be giving gym treadmill duty). Really looking forward to more screen real estate!
This forum is what led me to put my order in today...without it, I'd probably have missed out on a sleeper hit.
Will likely be acquiring a dock shortly as well...just for the complete solution.
Everyone here, especially the developers, have basically helped revive the G-Tablet and make it a sexy beast! Keep on modding guys!
Many Props to the DEVS!
Yeah, the only reason I bought my GTAB was because a custom ROM already existed so could swap out the crappy stock TNT with VEGAn.
I've tried out all the roms available for this device and decided VEGAn would be my daily driver.
BIG THANKS TO:
GOJIMI, BEKIT, SCEPTERR, BITTRIX, ROTHNIC and ROEBEET for the Awesome sauce!
You guys RUMBA ROCK!!

[A510] Costom roms will there be any?

Hi all I just wanted to know if there will be any custom roms ? are there developers around ? because im thinking of getting the a510 or the asus tf300, but up to now the tf300 has custom roms already.
Sorry for my bad english
You're bringing up a good question, really, and my first thought is, yes.
But my second thought is rather a reminder and friendly meant plea, to any fellow Iconia Tab users onboard, to up the dedication and involvement in populating the threads, sharing tips and tweaks, information, app-tips, and whatnot's..
Cuz the more we actively show our own dedication to our devices in the forum, the more its likely for a skilled developer to show up and eyeball into our pit of tabs, and sight a large and steady enuff userbase to make it interesting to begin with.
One thing I do myself, is stealthly lurking around in cover of the dark and while most people is asleep, into the other devices specific parts of our forum, with a similar setup of our own Tegra3 platform, like the new Asus and Samsung tabs etc, and minutely sweep the walls and floors for stuff and leftovers, that I might be able to implement on my beloved 510
You never know whats good and nice, or smart-to-have, before you try. Some is ****, and simply doesnt work because of certain minor framework differences, but a fair bit of stuff actually do.
For instance, I've found great joy in the Asus SuperNote app, and found it to be fully enjoyable on our A510, and likely the A7* too. Even various device specific Live Wallpapers and widgets run fine, like the Asus weather widget, and so on.
Likewise, certain general tweaks for the ICS or Tegra3 is all but likely to play more or less nice in our tabs aswell.
What it does take thou, to make it even more interesting investing time in our own threads, is to share our findings, be it good or bad, silly or smart, and everything inbetween.
So lets populate the threads
The only general consesus to notice when posting our findings from other device threads, is to include a short informative description, and specificly, named credits to any users work you share. We must be friendly and smile while we nick thier stuff, right?
Sincerely,
Omnius
And ps.
Yes, its a long second answer to your question, but I believe its true.

In answer, yes, there will be custom roms. As a matter of fact, I have one almost ready for the a701.
The problem, is that currently, there is no working recovery for the 50x or the 70x. At least one that doesn't brick your tablet. This I am sure, will be fixed soon (as soon as some devs get their tablets back from repair )

This is a high-end tablet - I would be surprised if CyanogenMod doesn't eventually support it.

Stable ROM - sick of ASUS ROMs

Hey all
Firstly I know the answer is out there and I can find it if I researched a bit. Problem is that I am now the proud father of a 3 day old baby boy. So all my time has been consumed by poo and puke. So I apologise for the question without doing the reading first.
Anyway, I have the TF700 as a tablet for me and my wife. I have been sticking to the standard ROMs to keep something that she will be happy with and with minimal bugs. But I have hit my limit. ASUS ROMs are absolutely terrible. I'm on 4.2.1 now and I still prefer to use my phone as it's so much quicker and responsive. I can't believe I choose a 4.3" screen over the tablet.
So, what I am ultimately asking for is for someone to suggest a responsive and stable custom ROM for me to use. It doesn't have to have a ton of features, it just must work. Preferably one that a novice can flash
Thanks for any help
Alan
Just so you know, firstly, this is not the correct forum to post these kinds of questions. The general forum would be the place to ask. The dev forum is only for dev's to post their work/mods/roms/kernels/etc in. A mod will probably move this to the correct place once they notice it.
As for the answer to your question, almost everyone will tell CROMi-X is the way to go for a stable, fast custom rom. It's close to stock
asus, but with a ton of optimization. I'd recommended this rom unless you REALLY need have lots of flashy toys, then head over to CM,
but you will lose a bit of stability and speed, at least in my experience.
Faustus1005 handled all the unpleasant bits, so I can keep to a recommendation of CROMI-X. Stock-based, minimal bugs (at least none that the stock ROM doesn't also have, hahaha) and all necessary drivers and config stuff, etcetera.
Thanks for the replies
I'll go and have a look at getting that flashed. Next challenge is to root it which I've heard is not that easy with 4.2.1
MotoChopper seems to do the trick.
Oh, and errr... by the way: from a "young" father of two (aged 3, having her birthday today) and 4 (almost 5) -- congratulations, and good luck, hahaha! Have fun, too! It's one helluva ride, but a great time, too. I wouldn't have had it all that differently if given the option. :good:

[Q] Lollipop? Is anyone looking to develop a custom Rom for the Xoom?

I know our Xoom is getting a bit long in the tooth, but it still is one of the finest equipped pieces of hardware out there. I've been using the Omnirom 4.4.4 iteration for many months now, and love it.
How many tablets can you name that have external sdcard,HDMI, and USB capability besides the normative features most tablets have.
I think the Xoom might just might have a very good future with the next iteration of Android, Lollipop. I'd love to be able to
work on this, but if I did it, I'd have to find someone who would loan me a Xoom they have laying around unused for an extended period of time.
I don't know, but the more I think of it the more excited I become.
That's not how it works...... You are a user not a developer.... I will see what can be done when sources come out but no this is a scam! Why get a Xoom if you already have one? From a account with no rom threads started

Wasn't a scam Cameron. I have 1 Xoom that is my primary computing device with anything having to do with mobile devices. I will not have it's useability compromised.
By the way, long ago I wrote code for the Atari ST, STacy and Falcon. In the last few hours I have been able to get a second Xoom from a friend locally (he's not using it, and thought it was bricked-It wasn't, just needed help-I've got working) once I get my friend's Xoom up to speed and brush up on my coding skills I should be able to help.
Honestly, I'm 74 years old and just tired and busy enough that I'd rather not take away from my limited time to become a developer again. At this time I'd like to just be a user and return my friend's fully working Xoom to him
Cameron, It seemed like most of the developers had just gone into hiding and I was hoping to generate interest from the community..
You don't know me, or really know much about me. If you did, you'd know that I wasn't attempting to scam anyone. In fact, saying that my goal was to scam is almost criminal and libelous, but I'm not one to easily take take offense.
Just please don't do a rush to judgement again. Once you make such statements they aren't easily retracted.
I look forward to hearing from you soon. Your friend,
Rob

I am simply a "user" also but I can attest to the fact that I have seen numerous posts from Kingsman1 in other Xoom forums and he is always there to help others with questions or problems they are having with their tablet.

Thanks for the vote of confidence my friend. The Lollipop Software Development Kit (SDK) is out there. I think that I'm going to hide and watch(though I am available at any time) as far as development is concerned. There are many of us who need help, including me from time to time. I'll go back to helping when I can.
Blessings to all,
Rob

Since being on IOS since 2011 I haven't used this account ; I got on here to say thank you; you are an inspiration for the ages. As our knowledge and experience becomes "mature" it's good to see that young or wise by years; we can all work together.
By the way,
I do have a second Xoom of my own not, and am running Omnirom 5.1.1 Alpha on it. At the moment, I'm looking to see what it can, and can't do. I hope to be able to help Schischu develop this into a stable, and very complete Rom now. Even so, this alpha is very polished, fast, and smooth.
I think we're gonna love it.
Blessings,
Rob
